This week I evaluate and set up a bungee cord electric gate kit. Then I make one out of scrap materials found lying around most farms. Both gates are serviceable and offer flexible and safe solutions for stock control.

Great content as always. Finally got a pto post hole digger. Time for some fun :) How high do you reckon I need to make the fence to stop the marron from jumping out?

Hmm, advice sounds about right. They sure do get frisky and have amazing leaping ability during rutting season. I hear smearing garlic butter on the lower wire disuades them.

Cutting the insulated wire so that there is 1.5 inches exposed but the end is insulated is brilliant! Our new standard method. Thanks!

Great vid but the background music is so loud it was hard to hear him speak.

I really do need to learn this stuff, and sincerely appreciate your time in producing these videos.

... buuuut (always has to be a but) i find it much more difficult to concentrate on what you are saying over the top of that background racket. I'm only watching on a tablet with its crumby built-in speaker, so I'll try again later with headphones.

Tim Thompson some editing apps allow you to keep the videos volume high and add in music at a lower volume so you have control in balancing it

Tim Thompson ah wow that’s actually a lot lower than it sounds relative to you speaking in the video, but to be honest I didn’t even realise the music was there until I read the comment lol

I have loads of old springs left over to include in femcing jobs like that. Good use for them I think.

There are a lot of guys doing fencing videos but so far I've enjoyed yours the most, as I've mentioned before there is more than one way to do it right but many more ways to do it wrong, and wrong often works too but it's just plain ugly, or it wastes time and material, or worse will fail and need a proper fix, which leads me to my question, there are many useful knots, termination, figure eight etc many finish of by adding a couple wraps then snapping of the tail. The way I was taught the only knot it you could call it that we used was wrapping the wire over it self, we referred to it as a barrel wrap, this was used at posts, splices, virtually every where , it's quick, easy to do , doesn't even need tools, although I finished with fencing pliers to even then tighten the barrel, more for appearance than any thing else, I was wondering why I have never seen any one else do it this way, it definitely does not unwind, three wraps was what we went for but ob rare occasions only one was used because work hardening caused it to break of before the rest could be added, and even these never unwound. The only thing I can think of is if you want to undo it there is a good chance it will break, but that isn't done very often , certainly not saying my way is better, and I would think someone taught you, and you probably learned from more than one source, and you may have been told by someone somewhere why you don't do it like that.

Hello mate , You,re the best bloke to show us how to tie bullnoses off , but firstly , what diameter high tension smooth wire do you use , when fencing cattle in as well as sheep ? I am using up a supply of 2.5mm dia , & it gives your hands hell to tie it off , secondly , how would you deal with the problem of a small brook ( creek ) flooding & directly shorting out at least the bottom 2 or 3 wires in a creekside boundary fence , the ideal would be to keep the top wire " running " while the other 3 or 4 were dead , maybe you,ve done a video on this & I haven,t found it yet , or perhaps it could be an idea for a new video , look forward to hearing from you on here , Best Regards from England mate . ( here we are not allowed to clean the bloody creek out & dispose of the flooding , our ground is used against our wishes to dump it on until nature dissipates it downstream )

Gday, what do you do if you want a temp paddock away from you fence? Can you do a vid showing how you set it up and what power source you use? Also, what is it about you orange tape that carries the electrical charge? Thanks heaps

The little bubble fitting in the kit? You were going to show us a cheap way of doing that with the tape? Im keen to know. Thanks

Hi Michael. Normally I just tie an off cut to the centre. It blows in the breeze and makes it more visible.

I'm not sure you did this right Tim. I did one a cpla days ago, mine had a lot more bits of wire and a few more bodgy fittings. Also when I open mine the power stays on, so you definitely got that wrong. One more thing, When I did mine I got zapped at least 4-5 times, the fact that you didn't get zapped shows a lack of skill.

who in their right mind will work with a live fence mate? Much better to do what you have to then turn the energiser on - check current- job done.
