Maybe not all robots are the same? Codsworth also spent 200 years in Sanctuary where other survivors came and went. His sentience may have something to do with what he experienced. The Galleria robots probably haven't seen another human in decades since it's so easy to get killed in there.

Codsworth and these Mr. Handy's had VERY different programming. There is also the Director and the Control Tower that is designed to keep them on task so think of it as a reinforcing pattern. Every time they attempt to overcome their base programming when forced with new information they get a reinforcement of what they are supposed to do, which then forces their programming to somehow adapt the new information into their core function without altering it, which is what causes them to be oddly literal and quirky in their function.Codsworth wasn't reinforced in this way, and to be fair we don't know if he had any sort of modifications made to him prior to the bombs dropping either. But even looking at his basic programming, Codsworth hasn't really deviated from it. He was designed to tend to the family's needs and to maintain the household as best he could. While most of what he actually did before the war is no longer feasible to do, he hasn't really deviated form his core programming in over 200 years. He did his best to keep the house in order and despite venturing away from Sanctuary (He said he's been to the entrance to Vault 111 and at least to Concord once before) from time to time always returned and has kept pests form taking up residence in the home. And even after the return of the SS he tends to their needs, only instead of making them coffee at the perfect temperature he now roasts raiders. Without the constant reinforcement of the basic tenants of his programming he's been able to adapt to the new world while still not really deviating from his initial programming.

I laughed so hard when Sprocket shushed me during his demonstration speech. I tried to talk with him after he paused for a bit before explaining about Mr. Gutsy. This game is hilarious. And the robots in the gym won't attack the player if you beat Champ with boxing glove.
If you fight the champ unarmed Mack and Danny don't attack you. At least they didn't for me. Mack just seems upset that the champ isn't getting up but keeps insisting he's ok.
This is one of my favorite place… I love Mr handy robots and their humor :D and that giant statue is just fantastic :D I had a good laugh when I discovered this place
It would have been really cool to be able to turn this into a settlement so you can clean up the place and with the automatron DLC, use the robot workbench to fix and repaint all of the Mr.Handys.
I ended up going straight to the director in my first playthrough and then just passing the medium speech check because I had charisma at 7 when I found it. I didn’t even know that the robots did the things they did until my second playthrough…
3:03 for the record-there's a gas leak in that room. That's why the air caught on fire so easily. One of the dialogue options even has you mention the gas leak to him. Although that does raise the question of why his thruster never sets it off...
Crisp is me. Honestly on a graveyard shift at 2am, and ready to go home, I’m so done with everything. Edit: Scratch that. I can relate to them all EXISTENTIAL DESPAIR!!! MY MOOD
I don’t know if you noticed this but the coffee shop is filled with flammable gas. When the Mr. Handy goes to make your coffee, his flamethrower sets off the gas and turns him hostile. Apparently he thinks you tried to blow him up. Once you start the grand reopening, he tells you to get your own coffee. This stops him from setting the shop on fire but it doesn't get rid of the gas so be careful.
10:35 actually, if you unequip your weapons so you are only using fists, you can have a “fair” fight with the robot. After I tried this and successfully defeated The Champ, Mack said something along the lines of “We have a new undefeated champion!” And then began pacing back and forth saying things like “Get up, Champ,” and “Just dust yourself off.” Neither Mack nor Danny attacked me after the fight.
I think it has to do with interaction with other humans. There were humans in Sanctuary after the bombs fell, Codsworth would have seen and spoken to them. Most other robots you find are hostile on sight or isolated so they never become sentient.
The Mr Handys probably knew what happened, but were acting like nothing actually happened like Codsworth in the beginning. If you don't ask him why is he acting weird he continues to act like nothing has happened what so ever. They are probably deeply scarred and don't want to break act due to code and because you told them you were the Govenor so they think they would get punished. Thats just a thought I can't confirm this.
Argon It's hard to program sentience, so likely they made the consumer models sentient from the getgo but have the display models discover it over time, and a combonation of the giant fucking handy and the greeterbot's suspiciously welcoming attitude turned off most people. The only real interaction with humans they have had up to this point is random caravans trading with them, inadvertanly introducing them to caps.
I know it's an old video, but you don't have to kill any robots, they can be disabled with the robotics expert perk (which you had) to just disable them. They become friendly when the mission is finished because their combat inhibitors are turned on
It's very likely that the flamer just fired up at max capacity (which would realistically be lower than 8,000,000°F), which is hot enough to combust the air.
I don't think Bethesda had funds to get a different voice actor for EVERY SINGLE MR. HANDY so they used the same voice actor for every mr. Handy. Same thing applies for the mr. Gutsy units
True enough personal I just thank it would be interesting idea but that doesn't mean it would be a good idea so true enough personal I like both of their viewpoints and videos
I think the General Atomics Factory sent Models that had errors and faulty programming in them like robots that were sent back by angry customers and just used those or they used prototypes that they built in the lab and then sent them to the General Atomics Galleria to be tested with the customers that are there.
You missed an option, which is funny because its the one I always use (since I don't get to the GA factory until MUCH later) - if you don't have the badge, you can 'fake it', and since the robot is faulty, he can't actually check its authenticity, so he merely accepts it on a 'conditional basis'. You DO need to pass a speech check to do this. I did learn a lot, however, since I always went immediately to the director as ordered - I had no idea about those other interactions with the bots (I may have done that on my very first play-through, but I didn't like that I had to kill them all, so I 'went back' {saved game} and never used that option). Regardless, I feel like there was a huge opportunity missed here. Ideally, you should have been able to use this as settlement (which you can still do with the use of a few other mods), and then get all those bots as vendors. Especially now that we have the Slocum Joe's CC mod.
I actually found this place super early on in my playthrough, i was about level 10, but still had decent guns. Because of the lower level and very early game mindset of mine I actually ran through the place exploring the buildings for possibly some good loot, and eventually it resulted in me killing each and every robot in the place including the director. Im happy to know something actually happens if the robots are kept alive.

That means $1=6 caps. Pretty cool, thanks for reminding me about that.
So I was sarcastic with Crisp after I reopened the place, and turns out his personality is Eternal Despair. Jeez.
Munchkin Movies existential*
I laughed so hard when Sprocket shushed me during his demonstration speech. I tried to talk with him after he paused for a bit before explaining about Mr. Gutsy. This game is hilarious. And the robots in the gym won't attack the player if you beat Champ with boxing glove.
I love how it costs 5000 for a game of boiling but the grad prize for the raffle is 15 dollars
If you fight the champ unarmed Mack and Danny don't attack you. At least they didn't for me. Mack just seems upset that the champ isn't getting up but keeps insisting he's ok.
Gotz the Ironhand you can also use weapons like the power fist
Dr Skull nah I used the cheat terminal mod and activated one hit kill
Same for me, though I don't remember if Danny sold me anything or not
This is one of my favorite place… I love Mr handy robots and their humor :D
and that giant statue is just fantastic :D
I had a good laugh when I discovered this place
same here :)
In the boxing arena your supposed to use your fists
Dylan Stewart fun fact: deathclaw gauntlet
(A strange noise can be heard in the distance that sounds like something being punched)
No wonder why they didn't attack me.
Or the boxing gloves
yeah, i picked up the gloves figuring ' ah that's pretty obvious what you're supposed to do, and i didn't have an issue with the other bots either.
I didn’t even know that the robots did the things they did until my second playthrough…
well, bean actually ignited a gas leak
Jon foy
So Bean...
Passed gas...? :3
DEWG I guess?
Never light a fart
I suppose a gas leak would basically be a fart to a robot, wouldn't it?
Bean doesnt try to kill you if you actually comply with his instructions and step back beyond the blast radius.
3:03 for the record-there's a gas leak in that room. That's why the air caught on fire so easily. One of the dialogue options even has you mention the gas leak to him. Although that does raise the question of why his thruster never sets it off...
Maybe the robot wuz just Farting? LOL
Lmao torte screaming you to get out is the funniest thing.
Kot twins
Crisp is me. Honestly on a graveyard shift at 2am, and ready to go home, I’m so done with everything.
Edit: Scratch that. I can relate to them all
EXISTENTIAL DESPAIR!!! MY MOOD
He gets so mad when you go in the kitchen
I don’t know if you noticed this but the coffee shop is filled with flammable gas. When the Mr. Handy goes to make your coffee, his flamethrower sets off the gas and turns him hostile. Apparently he thinks you tried to blow him up. Once you start the grand reopening, he tells you to get your own coffee. This stops him from setting the shop on fire but it doesn't get rid of the gas so be careful.
10:55 if you defeat the Champ unarmed, Danny will sell to you.
When Bean tries to serve you coffee, the whole place catches on fire due to a gas leak. He wasn’t malfunctioning (well, not too much anyway)
10:35 actually, if you unequip your weapons so you are only using fists, you can have a “fair” fight with the robot. After I tried this and successfully defeated The Champ, Mack said something along the lines of “We have a new undefeated champion!” And then began pacing back and forth saying things like “Get up, Champ,” and “Just dust yourself off.” Neither Mack nor Danny attacked me after the fight.
the Mr handys are so ignorant it's hilarious
definitely, but it makes me wonder why Codsworth is different
It’s the programming. They’re not programmed to acknowledge something so they don’t. At least, that’s how it is irl
Argon
It's hard to program sentience, so likely they made the consumer models sentient from the getgo but have the display models discover it over time, and a combonation of the giant fucking handy and the greeterbot's suspiciously welcoming attitude turned off most people. The only real interaction with humans they have had up to this point is random caravans trading with them, inadvertanly introducing them to caps.
"What do you sell?" "This is a BAKERY ... " XD
that moment when Torte is your favorite robot in the entire fallout universe
It fells like Torte is derived from tortilla.
6:11 I like how 3 of the options is just “wait, what?”
This place had sooo much loot, and I do LIVE for their outfits
146 thousand views, and yet only 45 dislikes? That's a sure sign you're doing good, Oxhorn.

The bakery portion makes me laugh
I just loaded the bowling balls into the junk jet and went to town bowling
I know it's an old video, but you don't have to kill any robots, they can be disabled with the robotics expert perk (which you had) to just disable them. They become friendly when the mission is finished because their combat inhibitors are turned on
2:35 he is saying the coffee is 8,000,000°F. Considering the surface of the sun is around 9,000°F, that should've melted the whole planet
Replace the 8 with a 2
Dan Kaiser you must be fun at parties
It's very likely that the flamer just fired up at max capacity (which would realistically be lower than 8,000,000°F), which is hot enough to combust the air.
When I killed the champ the 2 other robots weren't hostile probably because I had Consworth with me or is it because I used a actual boxing gloves
*codsworth
It's because you used boxing gloves
I was hoping I could buy a robot here...
Aaron Smith I was hoping to finally ditch codsworth.
He Is...
i jsut wanted to build a MASSIVE robot army to fuck up the BoS with
AWW yea, fellow robot/ Institute supporter!
Codsworth is way to sarcastic for his own good.

Reg: Don’t. Touch. Anything.

This would've been an amazing settlement.
Does anyone know if codsworth has unique dialog at the Galleria?
Curie and codsworth both say they feel at home there and the robot factory.
All companions comment on the Galleria. The statue in the middle, specifically.
joanne d oh my gggg you look like nicole Kidman
no but he doesn't the like it if you're violent

Im so glad you went through every area in the game in such great detail. I never payed this much attention when going through these areas.
You can beat the champ and not kill the others
You need to use a boxing glove to kill champ
"To Serve Man"....its a cook book....a COOK BOOK!! 00
Some of the robots in the galleria sound like codsworth
The last dinosaur 123 all mister handies sound like that
Say that again... but SLOWER
I don't think Bethesda had funds to get a different voice actor for EVERY SINGLE MR. HANDY so they used the same voice actor for every mr. Handy. Same thing applies for the mr. Gutsy units
@@methodwolf well it would make sense in real life, i mean think about it. Siri and other voiced bots have the same voice for all devices.
This might be coincidental but general atomics is a real company which makes avionics for drones
all these years and still love Oxhorn videos about fallout 4 he still my favorite youtuber
I've never even played the game but I enjoy all of his videos.

did he stop making videos? I haven't gotten a notification from thenthapple in quite awhile.
"They almost never leave"
Has anyone noticed Mr handy robots survive nuclear Holocaust but can't survive being shot or attacked by a animal or creature.
I think the General Atomics Factory sent Models that had errors and faulty programming in them like robots that were sent back by angry customers and just used those or they used prototypes that they built in the lab and then sent them to the General Atomics Galleria to be tested with the customers that are there.
The flex of being the governer of massachusets was unnececary but okay
“But why is the galleria closed?”
*I DUNNO, MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE NUKES BUT I’M NOT SURE*
I like keeping the merchants and having the mod that allows general atomics to be a settlement after the robots are fixed
“Aagh! You’ve ruined it!” That’s the sound of a robot who’s had their last straw broken. I’m gonna remember this one!

Like a boss
I always went to the director first so half of this has never happend to me
I freaking love the mister handy robots
i always come back to these to rewatch even though ive seen dozens of times love Oxhorns fallout lore videos.
Hey Oxhorn, first of all, i love your channel, it's really great ! And second, excuse my english, i speak french. But let me try anyway... i don't know if you've already talked about that topyc in another video, but maybe you could do a compilation of the interresting stuff that can be found on the highways ? For example : Evan O'Dood's body right next to 3 living mongrel dogs named Alissa, Kyle and Kate ! I really wonder what the backstory is.. if their is any !! Haha Also, that makes me think that their must be other little scenario like that scattered on the highways that we might not know about! Maybe that could make i great episode. Just an ideal really! Also this episode was very interesting, i did not know that you could turn the robots friendly!! I will make sure to go back there with my new character !! Anyways ! Thank you for your time, i know it's a long text, sorry about that ! Ps: your settlements are always epic ! Keep doing awesome videos !!!
Dany Langlois damn. Your English is better than mine bro. Good job and i agree! I love the highways and glad they put more on them in fallout 4 compared to Fallout 3
