    Why I made this video:
I’m the creator of this content and unfortunately, being objective about what YOU the audience wants is harder for me.
From all the responses I’ve been getting, I wanted to send an additional thank you to you all. This is definitely giving me better insight than some POS graph in the analytics tab that doesn’t come for 2 days. #ImNotAngryISwear

That's a tuff one bud! Specially for a new UA-camr! My answer would be no for the intro at this point on ur channel. Why because I have other tech tubers could be 2-4 that I would go to first to get there review before I would go to another channel. I've only just seen this on my feed as a stranger to your channel and was pretty hooked by the idea of a genuine player at odds with a inconsistent game.
Firstly, I wonder if its your subscribers skipping the first 30 seconds because they know they want to see the meat of the content and your personable appeal.
Second, I can only think (based on one other comment I glanced) that as your thumbnail can accomplish a lot, maybe the digest could be even shorter and/or more teasing and provocative for the mind, begging watchers to find out more with even less info set out. But I cant personally find fault with them.
MAYBE trying full screen consistently in intro would help for people watching on a phone..

Also Spawn Wave might be a good channel to check for notes. Jon gives a digest direct to the camera and he's a pleasure to listen to. Very different channel but might be something there worth emulating (no pun intended 😅). I think Dave2D does similarly, with a very modern minimalist backdrop.

I do appreciate the thoughtfulness of your comments here. Going to check out Spawn Wave now. Dave2D is also in Ontario where I live (as is Gerald Undone and a few other massive creators)
On a hilarious note, from a metric standpoint- this video is actually performing well. And the intro I did with my friend about Final Cut 10.8 has a massive retention spike, but in reading the comments, intros are skipped.
So maybe it’s about getting straight to the point and putting that high effort editing in the middle.

    Hi,
I am not a viewer of the channel, I stumbled on your video at random but it has been really informative, a new and fresh perspective, really helpful, thank you!
My thoughts on the intro or intros in general:
    1. It's very hit or miss. Sometimes it hooks me in and makes me interested. Sometimes makes you want to click away. Really depends. For e.g on discussions videos/podcasts they show snippets of the interesting parts and it makes you more interested sometimes. But honestly, it makes you "more" interested. If you are not already commited to watching and are still deciding, which might be the case for a huge part of the audience, even a good intro might not do the trick.
And in some cases it just makes you skip to those parts you want to watch and click away haha
    2. I do like intros though, gives me a quick general idea of the video in a very short time. So I tend to watch the intro just to gauge if the video itself would be interesting to me. And in some cases I just don't like it and want to skip it just to get right to the topic. It also depends on the type of video for me, the topic etc...
This also has a double edge since your intro becomes the first impression to your video, meaning people who do not like the intro might click away even if they would like the core of the video.
    2. For your intro,
I would personally not skip it, but would probably think it could be a little shorter. As I said earlier, I think an intro works well with someone who already let's say 85% commited to watch the video. In this sense I don't need much, even 30s might be long, especially with all the compact Short Form content out there now. For e.g the "Or is this just a gimmick" part I believe could be hinted at in the thumbnail itself and ending it with the previous question "Did apple just fix your camera enabling..." might make it more interesting as it does not elongate the question.
Anyways, I believe you can shorten it and lessen the work on you and transfer the work to other parts of the video.
I think intros are very tricky. Seems similar to copyrighting to me, where two words can make the whole difference. So, must be quite challenging to get it right.
Honestly the intro is pretty good, by the way. Great work ;)
I don't now if this helps or I am just rambling but I hope it is helpful to you and anyone needing this info.

Even having feedback won't help as much. The thing is UA-cam doesn't actually know why someone watches any video.
For example, If an intro looks visually nice but I can't stand the creators voice or looks. Then I click away. UA-cam doesn't know that part. They only know I clicked away.
Also, listening to the UA-cam guru's tell you what works doesn't account for survivorship bias. They can only tell you what has worked for them. If they actually knew what works for everyone then they would solve everybody's problem.
Some people will be winners and some will be losers. That's how life works.
I would say if you keep worrying about numbers then it's going to clog your head up with assumptions you can't control. As of this comment, this video is at 143 views. Put half of those people in a room and that's a lot of people you could help.

Intros are stupid and I rarely watch them. There’s one UA-camr that does “intros” that I always watch, but he likes to do little skits at the beginning with a character he created and they’re usually hilarious. Ninjon is the creator and his channel is all about miniature painting.

Intros are outdated. Intro information can be communicated in the thumbnail and video title.
If you watch the big guys, their intros are usually clickbaiting with bold, shocking statements. Those intros aren't giving you information on what the video is, but instead, they push a preconceived opinion and then challenge that opinion in the video.

Hello, I think a very important point that will help you improve the views and performance of your channel are the Thumbnails, I will tell you my little experience on UA-cam. On my channel when I barely had 300 followers with a single video I went to 2 thousand followers and more than 200 thousand views. After that I had good numbers of 20 thousand views, and then the videos fell again. Researching too much daily I realized how important miniatures are. In fact, if we analyze it in more detail, it is the cover of what we are going to see, if it does not attract, if there are no contrasting colors, if there are no facial expressions that generate emotions to the viewer. All the effort dedicated to the creation and editing of the video was in vain. There are even miniature designers, it’s a world that I didn’t even know existed. Right now I’m finishing a Matte painting course that is the same technique used by the best UA-cam content creators to create their thumbnails. I will leave you this phrase that I heard and I could try on my channel “A bad miniature can sink a video and never be found again” in reverse “A good miniature can make a very bad video viral.” I use a translator because I speak Spanish. Greetings

I think intros can be done well. MKBHD's intros, disregarding the animations, are tasteful and hook the viewer. I think you are throwing so much information at the viewer which is drowning out the context. It kinda feels like a brain dump. I would go back and study some of Marques's intros (not to say his are perfect or that he should be *the* example, but they *are* intros that work, clearly. And I think the graphics are only a part of that. In my opinion, a good intro is going to set up the context, so that the viewer understands what i am talking about when the video starts. If you put all the plot-points of your video oat the very beginning, the viewer is left with no sensation of mystery about what the rest of the video is about. And often, people make most of their decisions based on assumptions, so if you hit them with a bunch of keywords, they are going to decide whether or not those things are worth their time, without you ever having the chance to explain the concepts to them from *your* perspective. Again, going back to the MKBHD intros, they are shorter, use a few lines to stir vague intrigue (and marques is really good because he knows what little morsel of information will make his audience interested, this comes with experience and awareness), and he does so in a confident, charismatic way, such as to say "good things are ahead [and here's a taste of what we will unpack]". I would just task yourself, what is the point of an intro? If you're treating it like a mini-video, then yeah, its going to suck, because no one can understand all that information so quickly, and they also know you wont answer any of their questions in it. Thus, they skip
