    Nice to see you back on YT Mari, even in hot summer you'll get cold in a hammock without an underblanket. Even if you use the best sleeping bag without an underblanket you'll get cold. This is my experience of many hammock camps.

      Uh-oh…I thought I’d be able to skip the underblanket situ…doesn’t seem like so! 🙈 Thanks, Elvis!!! Back for good, hopefully..slowly finding more time in my hands as of late. Hope you’ve been keeping well!!

    Hi Mari. Its Billy, Joss Thomas mate. Just thought that I would come along to your channel to say Hello x. Its been such a long time since Ive been on you tube. 2023 has been a terrible year for me and my family. I`m trying to get back into watching and making videos again. Great video as always. Just a couple of tips for you. 1. Put one of those heat reflective mats below you within the hammock. Hammocks are so cold even in summer. 2. I use a carp mat below the hammock, on the floor. So when you get in and out of the hammock your feet land on something soft and not on things like twigs etc. Love the hammock setup, especially with that tarp addition. Keep up the good work . Billy 😊

    Great dinner recipe! Nice stick stove fire protection, rock AND aluminum. And the stove is big enough to give you a fire.
    Spent one warm summer night in a hammock with a bug net and a blanket, in the back yard, on a challenge. Best night's sleep all summer. Got up once in the middle of the night and was greeted by the Pliedies and Jupiter. Magic.

      Thank you! Yes, when I learned about the LNT principle, I try to be so much more careful now when having fire. Love this stove coz it’s compact enough but still gives me that camp fire vibe and surprisingly a lot of heat from such a tiny thing.
      That sounds like a lovely night you had, must be one to remember waking up to that sight!

    You needed an under-quilt to keep your bahookie toastie. And maybe also a top-quilt to keep your topside warmer.
    Regardless that, it looked fun. Even the faff of putting it up looked fun for you.
    (Edited: for grammar.)

      I think the faff was the most fun part at some point! 😅 I felt like a toddler in a toy shop.

    • @scotbotvideos

      @FunsizedEarthling Sorry, never done any hammock camping. The advice comes from all the videos I've watched here on UA-cam
      But hammock camping does sound appealing if only because you're not going to get slugs and snails sliming you during the night that you could get from bivvy camping.

    Hi, it's good to see you posting again. I've enjoyed your previous vids.
    At first I thought you set the hammock too high and too tight but in the footage in the morning it looked exactly right. There are some good tips and tutorials on the DD Hammocks website. I can recommend their hammock quilt. It's like a sleeping bag with a hood but you get in through the back. It's also good indoors when the evenings get chilly.
    Your hammock set up is certainly impressive. I've not seen that one before.
    Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next adventure.

    • @FunsizedEarthling
      @FunsizedEarthling  10 місяців тому

      Yay! At least I got something right. Haha! I thought it was a bit too high at first too so I made some tiny adjustments until I was happy & comfortable enough with hopping on it. Hammock quilt sounds intriguing….how DD hammocks have come up a few times on my comments tell me they might have a high reputation in this game! Thanks so much for the feedback and advise. Please keep then coming as I do intend to do more hammocking.. ☺️

    snugpak poncho liner w a belt (luggage strap out poundland) wearable duvet unbeatable

  • @DelayedRevelations
    @DelayedRevelations 10 місяців тому

    If you wrapped the straps round the tree a second time in this situation you got connection points closer to the tree.. meaning you couldve clipped the two end karribeaners of rainfly further up the strap keeping everything nice and taught.
    Also, if you sleep in a hammock diagonally it makes for a much flatter lay, making side sleeping even easier...
    You can sleep in that hammock without an underquilt and instead using an inflatable matt just like your using thats fine, however you might find you slide and slip off your roll matt. If you feel your bum cold, or you keep slipping off consider an underquilt but I think this nightcat hammock accommodates sleeping matts better than other hammocks
