    Back in my youth, I was in the Boy Scouts. We had a week long camping trip where we slept in hammocks under a tarp. This video brings me back to those good ol’ days.

    Those straps can out hold the hammock so I wouldn't stress about them. Glad you stuck to it, hope to see you do more videos and glad I found your channel! Had me laughing most of the video. It takes a few times to learn the perfect way to hang a hammock for sleep and I'd advise sleeping at an angle like you stated to keep your body from bending like a banana. I have back problems so that's a life saver when I sleep in them!

      Hey Daniel, thanks for watching. I actually ordered some more heavy duty 20 feet tree ropes! The ones that come with the tent have 9 foot ropes.

    Good for you. I’ve spent years watching Les Stroud, Cody Lundin, Bear Grills and Naked and Affraid. I’ve been out in the middle of nowhere plenty of times. I was always with a group. In a group. You don’t have to worry as much. There are clubs you can join like the Sierra Club, REI, or Survival training schools. It’s good to see someone taking the effort to learn. To organize more of your time. Try gardening. I don’t know how busy you are. I think it’s a step from actually having your own farm small scaled. Ancestors had to camp and farm just to survive. Great video. It’s also great to learn with someone. People who have already done it all. Will not make beginner mistakes. Those mistakes. We all can learn from.

      What's up Lamar, thanks for watching! Yeah the learning process seems to be the most entertaining part! The smart thing to do would be to do it with groups, but my solo missions is what people really like to see on my channel. It's like watching a 1 hour train wreck. 😂😭😂🤢🤮

    a stride is about 3' I'm vertically challenged, so I wouldn't have been able to get in that hammock with your straps that high on the trees.

  • @Takar100

    13:15 - easiest solution in all of this would have been to just move the trees. But you know, hard to think on the spot like that.
    30:00 - I laughed. Sorry, that thing was so high.
    Was it actually comfortable? Any time I get in a hammock, it's so uncomfortable. Like basically half way folded up. Imagine sleeping and then needing to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I'd flip over.
    Looking up at the trees did look pretty sick though.

    • @TheFishAndTrips
      @TheFishAndTrips  8 місяців тому

      LOL stupid trees. Yes it was REALLY comfortable because it was so wide once you lay in it. All I was missing was a pillow and a blanket.

    Looks like you will be Resting In Peace in that coffin, I mean hammock tent!💐💐💐 On the real though I'm glad you bring different content and WANT to bring diverse content. You're right there's only so many kayak in the bayou fishing videos you can make until it starts feeling repetitive. I loved your attempts at catching the racist fishes even though you were unsuccessful. You should visit the hill country in the spring for good camping videos.

      @@TheFishAndTrips just a tip for you... when putting out your guy lines if you go to opposite corners it will be more stable. Also the stakes shouldn't come in contact with the tensioners the cordage should only be touching. But I really did enjoy the videos and you showing all the pitfalls and your comments had me cracking up.

    • @TheFishAndTrips
      @TheFishAndTrips  8 місяців тому +1

      @@sassyvelvetvixen6645 thanks for the tips! I think I'm going to just not use those tensioners and go with tautline knots instead. Matter of fact. I'm going to bring extra stakes with me from now on and do 4 guy lines covering each corner now that you mentioned it.
