I have a Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen. is there a way I can stream my DAW in discord by having my primary audio device in FL Studio set to Focusrite ASIO? Reason why I want that is because It has low latency with my audio interface. Setting my primary driver in my DAW to FL Studio Asio I have to raise the sample rate to 96k to have the buffer size at 128 which is fine to me and I can stream audio with that. But it puts more pressure on my CPU with all the plugins I load. This is why I am wondering if it is possible to set my primary audio driver in FL Studio to Focusrite ASIO and have audio play within discord. If so, how can this work and what settings do I have to put?
Everything worked except after a few seconds the audio from my DAW cuts off from Discord for a bout 5 seconds then comes back in and off again, whenever I share my screen on a video call, do you have any advice? I tried turning off audio suppression in Discord
Thanks for this! Discord is using virtual audio cable and my compression is working well. The only problem I am having now is that I hear my own voice since I have to use "in" for the master. Is there any way to make it so the master audio goes into restream/obs without having to hear the ableton audio? EDIT: I figured it out! Put the reastream master in a group and then expand the group and click the speaker icon to the right of the volume/panning.
there is a method to listen through my scarlett without connecting my headphones into it? because if i plug my headphones in the scarlett i can't use the microphone
I don't get it, how does the virtual cable know to route input from the microphone to the cable? I've downloaded VB Audio and OBS but can't figure that part out. I'm just looking to route my microphone input from my Scarlett 2i2 into discord without the 3-6 second delay I'm getting currently. Edit: I've figured that out. You need to change the Monitoring Device in OBS settings to the virtual cable.
This setup relies on using Reastream plugin in your daw so the audio signal goes from DAW through Reastream to OBS and from OBS to Discord. Did you get all that setup? (Not sure you can use Reastream on Audacity)
Hey Adil! Thank you for your videos! I have a problem, I can see VB cable when I select an input, but I don't see VB cable when I choose an output. Can you help me? Thank you!
This didnt work for me =(. i am trying to route audio from ableton to discord while having my focusrite play the audio and take input from my mic. the only way i have had the audio come through the stream in discord is to switch ableton to the orginal driver mme/directx. but then the audio comes through my speakers instead of my headphones. that gives me latency then i cant play along to the song while sharing it in disocrd.... perhaps im doing something wrong. ill keep trying it.
If you have been using the mic on your headphones then yes you cant set them up as your mic. Set them up as your mic in OBS so OBS can send your mic audio signal along with your DAW audio
Hey man, it worked wonderfully for my guitar, thanks! However, I have one annoying issue here. - From my soundcard (focusrite), I have 2 inputs: one for my condenser mic and one for my guitar - Both of them are routed to Ableton Live, one track for mic (no filter/effect), one for guitar (using Neural DSP plugin as the simulated amp). - If I choose to broadcast only one (either mic or guitar), it worked great. Even it could pick up my guitar sounds with effects from the plugin - However, if I choose to broadcast both of them, the audio starts cracking/clipping really hard, to the point it sounded just like buzz or cracks instead of a human voice/guitar sound. Do you have any tips to broadcast multi-track/multi-input using Reastream into OBS, while keeping both sounds audible? Many thanks!
Instead of doing one Reastream plugin on master, you can use Reastream plugin on Mic track and another on Guitar track and name each instance separately. In OBS instead of one Audio Input Device for Ableton. Make one for each, and see if that helps separating the audio signal so its not all jammed into one
@@AdilConstantineMusic just tried this approach with my tutor, now I can have an online session with both my mic and guitar audio nicely, thank you very much!
Yes but it needs a wrapper. I found this thread about using Element in Pro Tools which is a wrapper that you can drag Reastream into and it will work in Pro Tools forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=234731

Hey, I'm having an issue with poor low-end and overall sound quality when using the virtual cable as input into discord or zoom. I've checked the sound quality of the virtual cable output in Windows settings and confirmed that the VC output is 100% original quality. So, somewhere being passed from the cable -> another application, I get a significant quality drop. I've matched as many bitrates as I could find in my Focusrite control panel, OBS and virtual device control panel, but havent touched any buffer sizes (Couldnt find them). Anyone know what could be up?
Will this work if I have a mic on one channel in my DAW and a guitar amp sim on another channel in the DAW? Like, my voice and the guitar will both come through from two different channels in the DAW?
Yes! All tracks route to Master track which is where Reastream plug-in on Master channel will send audio to OBS and OBS will send to your streaming app (Discord, Zoom, etc)
Hey! Great guide, I've been trying to use this method using a Wave:3 Mic but get a horrible crackling noise, tried using OBS & Reaper, both w/ the same results on Discord. It works fine for a few minutes and sometimes an hour or 2, but then it just craps the bed... I tried changing the hz to 48000 all across the board but nothing works, the crackling always comes back when I try to route audio between programs.
When you say you changed the sample rate to 48000 across the board does that include Virtual IO Control Panel ? This is should have been downloaded with Virtual Audio Cables
Okay so this doesn't work at all for me. Setting the DAW and mic to Monitor and Ouput breaks using CakeWalk (creates a million echos and distortion). Also no matter what I do, VB-Audio Virtual Cable doesn't output any audio in discord

According to a forum I read that you may need to open the VBCABLE_Controlpanel (in administrator mode) and increase the internal latency to max (7168 samples)
I get a weird crackling as if the sample rates throughout all of my inputs and outputs don't match, even tho they do. Any solution to this? Awesome vid, it's still better than using the weak default sound driver from the pc.

But I hear everything doubled with delay in my monitoring on my headphones. Myself and the sound coming from the ableton. So for me its impossible to record our podcast this way. Do you have any advide to get rid of the delayed monitoring?
Hey man, big thanks for this gem so far! I've followed every step from the beginning of your last video. I armed my mic input channel in my DAW with ReaStream on it, and the input is running through the plugin all the way to OBS, where I did everything the same. The input is running through without any problems.
However, at the very last step, after I select the audio cable plugin on Discord, the input stops running through. So, it's really just at the end that it struggles, and I honestly don't know why.. Discord even says that there's no mic connected at all.
@@maija4148 try turning off noise suppression and other audio processing on discord side. You can also test other apps like zoom or Skype and see if you’re having same issue
This is awesome, thank you so much!!
+Frank Garvi my pleasure :)
yoo how to make this work. I did everything but my discord is not picking up sound from input on VCcables
hi i followed all you steps it worked but the quality of my ableton midi is very bad 😕 i have a 2013 soundcard on my pc maybe thats the problem?
Yes I have my DAW driver set to Focusrite ASIO for the same reason. Check out this video first ua-cam.com/video/X-lFrkReAjk/v-deo.html
Sorry didnt get back to you on time, but I'm glad you figured it out :)
there is a method to listen through my scarlett without connecting my headphones into it? because if i plug my headphones in the scarlett i can't use the microphone
This was so helpful, thank you!
i did all the same and it doesnt work when i put cable output in discord although ableton and discord can hear my bass
I've tried this for discord but my mates say that the audio is choppy, anything that I did wrong? How do I fix this?
I don't get it, how does the virtual cable know to route input from the microphone to the cable?
I've downloaded VB Audio and OBS but can't figure that part out. I'm just looking to route my microphone input from my Scarlett 2i2 into discord without the 3-6 second delay I'm getting currently. Edit: I've figured that out. You need to change the Monitoring Device in OBS settings to the virtual cable.
VB does not appear as a choice in Discord for me
Thank you for this amazing video, i subscribed
So i have a question, i just got a cm25 with an interface everything works great on audacity and etc but on discord it is not hearing me
This setup relies on using Reastream plugin in your daw so the audio signal goes from DAW through Reastream to OBS and from OBS to Discord. Did you get all that setup? (Not sure you can use Reastream on Audacity)
Is there a way to use the Restream VST from OBS to Discord or Zoom, instead of using the VB cables?
No unfortunately :/
Mine does not read as "CABLE input" or "CABLE output". Mine just says "VB-Cable". Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
OH MY GOD I THINK THIS ACTUALLY WORKS! you are amazing, thank you for this
You’re so welcome :)
Cable input isnt showing up for me for some reason. Only the Cable speaker.
Hey Adil! Thank you for your videos! I have a problem, I can see VB cable when I select an input, but I don't see VB cable when I choose an output. Can you help me? Thank you!
Hello) Please tell me Does apollo twin or apollo solo work with the program Nvidia ShadowPlay?
I’m not sure 😕
Followed your tutorial getting Ableton audio to OBS and that works great, but getting it to Discord or Zoom isn't working. Help?
What if the audio is really bad? Is it a buffering issue?
This didnt work for me =(. i am trying to route audio from ableton to discord while having my focusrite play the audio and take input from my mic. the only way i have had the audio come through the stream in discord is to switch ableton to the orginal driver mme/directx. but then the audio comes through my speakers instead of my headphones. that gives me latency then i cant play along to the song while sharing it in disocrd.... perhaps im doing something wrong. ill keep trying it.
so if i make the virtual cable my input then would my headphone no longer work cause as of now they are my input devive ?
If you have been using the mic on your headphones then yes you cant set them up as your mic. Set them up as your mic in OBS so OBS can send your mic audio signal along with your DAW audio
Hey man, it worked wonderfully for my guitar, thanks!
However, I have one annoying issue here.
- From my soundcard (focusrite), I have 2 inputs: one for my condenser mic and one for my guitar
- Both of them are routed to Ableton Live, one track for mic (no filter/effect), one for guitar (using Neural DSP plugin as the simulated amp).
- If I choose to broadcast only one (either mic or guitar), it worked great. Even it could pick up my guitar sounds with effects from the plugin
- However, if I choose to broadcast both of them, the audio starts cracking/clipping really hard, to the point it sounded just like buzz or cracks instead of a human voice/guitar sound.
Does this work with Pro tools too? And can you use the mic eq to the call?
Yes but it needs a wrapper. I found this thread about using Element in Pro Tools which is a wrapper that you can drag Reastream into and it will work in Pro Tools forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=234731
microphone doesn't work pls help im enable obs and all and it's not work why?
Thanks man that worked!
Thank you for your video. It help me with my online classes. You safe my life & thank you 😍 definitely hit the button 😉
Thank you! Followed this and your other video and everything is working great!
Awesome! Glad to hear it :)
Hi, this might be a dumb question but how do i get the audio from obs to discord do i start virtual camera or something?
Nvm, I found a way without having to use VB on discord all i need to do is setup restream like you did on the previous video then choose to stream obs on discord
Any way to get the same effect in stereo?
what does OBS have to do with Discord? I dont understand what the process of streaming to discord through OBS is.
OBS is acting like a mixer that takes the output of your daw and routing it to Discord. Otherwise you can’t send DAW audio to Discord
how do I do this for Mac if the reaper plugins are not oval??

When I go onto the advanced audio properties on OBS I don't DAW there, any help?
I cant seem to find my CABLE INPUT (VB audio virtual cable) on OBS, the only thing i can see is SPEAKERS (VB audio virtual cable). but when i goto my discord i can see the output cable, the input cable is missing its only detecting speakers one in obs help me :
I got it working, but I have bad static with my inputs into discord. I hear no static.
Does this work for Google Meet as well?
Hey sorry I have one doubt, in discord when I select the audio imput as CABLE VB, it wont transmit any audio. I have installed all as seen in the video. My OBS is reciving the DAW audio but the imput audio doesn't. Even if i dont share discord screen it shuld be reciving the audio, right? Any help here?
Hey bro, I have a question.
Is it possible to make it Stereo? Or is there some limitation?
I even got a plugin to make discord stereo, but I'm still getting mono from the virtual cable.
Thanks! s2
EDIT:
so I'm using this "Edo Stereo" vst for discord, but somehow the signal goes into mono on discord. =(
did you figure it out?
@@pryze3 TBH you have to use this plugin if you want to use ASIO; yet could try reastream, or basically just go directx but full delay...
back then I had windows on mono and hadn't realized it lol
Hey, I'm having an issue with poor low-end and overall sound quality when using the virtual cable as input into discord or zoom. I've checked the sound quality of the virtual cable output in Windows settings and confirmed that the VC output is 100% original quality. So, somewhere being passed from the cable -> another application, I get a significant quality drop. I've matched as many bitrates as I could find in my Focusrite control panel, OBS and virtual device control panel, but havent touched any buffer sizes (Couldnt find them). Anyone know what could be up?
Same, also can you get stereo?
I’m using black hole, I can route the audio from my daw to discord but is there a way I can hear myself simultaneously? If anyone knows PLEASE tell me
Will this work if I have a mic on one channel in my DAW and a guitar amp sim on another channel in the DAW? Like, my voice and the guitar will both come through from two different channels in the DAW?
Yes! All tracks route to Master track which is where Reastream plug-in on Master channel will send audio to OBS and OBS will send to your streaming app (Discord, Zoom, etc)
what if i already have a audio interface?
Hay I’ve been trying to figure out vbaudio-cable, it’s not showing up in advance?
The plugins that I have applied are working in Ableton, but they don't transfer over to the audio that's being sent to OBS. :(
Any help? Thanks!
Make sure the Reastream plugin as at the end of your plugin chain of your audio signal
@@AdilConstantineMusic Appreciate the speedy reply! That didn't change anything for me, unfortunately. Maybe I have something else set up wrong. I wouldn't doubt it, tbh, lol.
lol if you want hop over to Discord so you can share a screenshot of your Ableton project / plugins so I can take a look discord.gg/87cWsZ8
@@AdilConstantineMusic I think I managed to fix it! I had to change the device for the DAW input in OBS to something different. I'll definitely hop in the discord in case I still have issues, though! :)
hey!! i got everything working perfectly right up to where i set my microphone to the virtual audio cable in discord - it worked great for about a second?? then when i went back in to see if it was still picking up audio in the mic test area it's just giving me clicking noises. i made sure to check everything was using the same sample rate and tried using both 44.1k and 48k and no difference.
do you have any ideas? thanks!
According to a forum I read that you may need to open the VBCABLE_Controlpanel (in administrator mode) and increase the internal latency to max (7168 samples)
I get a weird crackling as if the sample rates throughout all of my inputs and outputs don't match, even tho they do. Any solution to this? Awesome vid, it's still better than using the weak default sound driver from the pc.
i cant find it in my pro tools plugins
I did everything that you said but in audio resources in OBS it says the DAW is inactive
I tried everything and could`nt fix
Any suggestions?
Man this was very helpful
Glad to hear it
