Nas found his pocket w/these 3 legends and slid in perfectly. These guys grew up and matured but never changed their style keeping it 100% old school Hip Hop until the end.
You were kinda right. They constantly switched up music styles. Maybe your referring to their rap style? That makes more sense to me. But musically they always pushed the boundaries with samples, instruments and beat making. Most definitely kept it old skool though
They filmed this entire video in Nashville TN. I will never forget that day... been a fan since 1987. First time I saw them was when they opened for Public Enemy at The Municipal Auditorium December of 1987.
To come out with a track this good over 20 yrs into their career speaks volumes on these legends. This whole album was nasty. Who knows how much longer they could’ve gone if MCA was still with us
Dude I appreciate you... I grew up pretty much at the start of Hip Hop thanks to the early MTV... Seeing Sugar Hill Gang , Fat Boys, RUN DMC " one of favs." to the Beastie Boys... Life was great the music all around was a beautiful thing...
No doubt my brother. 51 and had the blessing of coming up during the Golden era of Rap/Hip Hop. Ain't nothing like an old Skool party because an old Skool party don't stop!
Lol , funny thing is that he was a member at one point, but was smart enough to know it didn't fit. Imagine Rick rubin spitting out bars with the boys? Not really, good decision 😂
I was looking to see if anyone let him know. It's so hard to imagine, still til this day. They were still very much in the game before MCA was diagnosed with cancer, which led to his passing. They shot this video the day of and the day before they headlined at the Bonnaroo Festival, and Nas was there to perform it with them as well. Headliners....still, in 2009. This song hits me in my feels every time because of that. May MCA rest in peace.
@The Last Drive-In Screen#2 - you just can't forget the Original, Sugar Hill Records out of Englewood, NJ. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Sugar Hill Gang, Melle Mel, etc. Spike Lee directed the video for White Lines. Cool name you got there 😎 Take care 🙂
Beastie's made one album for Def Jam. Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons beat them financially. So they jetted to Capitol records and put out the hip hop classic Paul's Boutique. It got no airplay and they didn't even tour for that Masterpiece, which it became known as a few years later. So whatcha want on Check your head is a track written for Rick and Russell. So whatcha whatcha want? And get so funny with the money that you flaunt? Another phat bar from the Bboys dissin Russell goes like this... And the shit just ain't funny Got phat bass lines like Russell Simmons steals money. I believe they're straight now, older wiser. Bygones be bygones and so on and so on.
We got nothing but Love for you Swag. Puttin Shame in Your Game. Phat ass track off Hello Nasty bro. Let's get it. Peace. A younger cat like you recognizing real true Hip Hop brings a smile to my face bro. Believe that.
Thought you would have known about this collaboration Holmes and no one told you thats crazy bro but you are here now and what a tune it is this is awesome.. Rip mca ❤️❤️
You missed the last 2 seconds! Never end a B Boys song early! Newer subscriber here, love all of your Beastie Boys reactions. I'm a 48 year old white girl from Kansas. I first heard them on the back of the bus in 7th grade, and they opened my eyes to hip hop. I love that you show them respect for being true hip hop artists and not just white boy posers. Sending my love and respect to you if you see this. Music brings us all together.
Puttin Shame in Your Game bro. React to that song from Hello Nasty please. Not sure if there's a video for it. But you're definitely going to like that track my brother.
Even your dogs are getting into it. I do have a question for you, though. Why do you sound so surprised when you exclaim "This is real Hip Hop!", what exactly are you expecting from the Beastie Boys by now?
Ricky Powell was not a Beastie Boy. He was their photographer around the Paul’s Boutique and Ill Communication era. I believe they had a falling out and has not been associated with them since. He did not have anything to do with the Beasties since. I met RP at a art show in SLC and this came out of his own mouth. Please do not hold him in the same light as MCA or the Beastie Boys. He was not the 4th Beastie Boy or anything like that, okay.
Bet you driving a different car today lol might not but if i was a betting man id put a bill on you don't have the title or a payment still to achieve said title

Big Props to you Swaggy for given the BBoys the attention they deserve with all the reactions you've given them! RIP MCA! That was his last show :(
To come out with a track this good over 20 yrs into their career speaks volumes on these legends. This whole album was nasty. Who knows how much longer they could’ve gone if MCA was still with us
Like the Beatles still making top level hits on their last album.
Would've been rappin to the year 3000
Beasties discovered Public Enemy and LL Cool J.
“I never die / Cause death is the cousin to sleep.” R.I.P. MCA
He just flipped that nas line from ny state of mind. Mca was a genius lyrically

Beastie Boys gave a LL Cool J demo to Rick Rubin and the rest is history.
That's not the end, the AdRock made the beat for his first release I Need A Beat.
AdRock gave it Rubin. DefJam was born. The triplets. P.E. CoolJ and BB boys were born.
Lol , funny thing is that he was a member at one point, but was smart enough to know it didn't fit. Imagine Rick rubin spitting out bars with the boys? Not really, good decision 😂
Bro that tape exchange changed my life lol
The album version is even better! This show was from their last gig ever. So damn sad.

MCA forever 5/04/2012
May his force be with us forever!
A beautifully chaotic reaction, as ever...
MCA would approve!
It was all about Def Jam back in the day.

Russell Simmons steals money.

Beastie Boys.... The Beatles of Hip Hop!!! Was lucky enough to have seen them live 4 times!!!
I like how your dog had to jump on the track and spit some bars too.
‘3 Minute Rule’ off Paul’s Boutique, please please please!!🙏🙏🙏
Thought you would have known about this collaboration Holmes and no one told you thats crazy bro but you are here now and what a tune it is this is awesome.. Rip mca ❤️❤️
"Too many rappers and not enough MCs" ain't that the truth!
So this video was shot on the same day as their last ever gig at bonnaroo. Bit sad really.
Great reaction.
Yo it's 2024 and this was 2 years ago, son. Nas just dropped 3 DOPE F*CKIN' records with Hitboy Magic I, Magic II, Magic III they F*CKIN DOPE!!!
Man please please look some instrumental stuff from them - anything.. My recommendation is 3's bass

Nas is a beast.
One of the best
Nas and the Beasties should've made an album 🔥
Great as allways👍
Greetings to u all from Sweden ✌❤
I highly recommend Get It Together with Q-Tip, next level shit 🏅
It's that NYC connection.
this is a great one for sure!
The Boys got more bars than the Vegas strip. True old school hip hop that needs to make a come back
Rabbit hole for the beasties
You answered you own question.; NAS was at his peak, so when you reach the peak, the only way is to go down. Smart man.
Oh I forgot to tell you the beastie boys new Nas and they made a track with him it’s real hip-hop
Ricky's theme is a sweet instrumental
Nas and the Beasties were trying to save hip hop from the mumble rap era
R to exact to “the move” from Hello Nasty
Hell yeah! Loving the Beastie Boys reactions!
BB's always on top... I miss them.
Swaggy, do some OutKast.

He was just paying respects because of his passing just relax okay
Ricky developed a habit and the Bboys wanted to help him,he didn't want help. May he rest in peace. MCA rest in peace as well.
He might be alive today because he stopped...
Bet you driving a different car today lol might not but if i was a betting man id put a bill on you don't have the title or a payment still to achieve said title
Ps Will not pay up on any hypotheticals which is what I proposed lol
Never watched a video where someone talked so much and said absolutely nothing before.
And they play their own instruments. Punk band when they started out.
Dude space the comments... just sayin my brother
