Him and Naudo..best I've ever heard. Tom may have the edge. I love the way he uses cords and single notes as part of the melody...and then the chimes. Man this guy is amazing.
Never be intimidated. Be amazed and floored, but never intimidated. Learn something out of it -- even just a smidgen of something new and different -- if not in its entirety. Never give up, never give in...
this is the teaser for the lesson. The link for the lesson is in the description. I see Tommy has a ratio of about 4 dislikes to 100 likes on this one which is high for him. Usually he's at about 2 to 100. I absolutely love this arrangement, but from the comments, I think that some people are put off by his creative license.
Tommy you are the man for sure but Dagg...I just listened to steve vai based on the comment below. That cat is incredible. Don't listen to total surrender unless you want to be freaked out amazed. How have I never heard of this guy...
Beautiful...! Thank you Tommy for sharing. I do enjoy all the richness you managed to produce 'alone'. Would love to hear your prefered tunes, arranged by you,for orchestra (whatever format you'd prefer :). TY!
I'm so intimidated by this, I can't begin to describe :/ When you come here to learn something and forget what you came here for in the first 5 seconds.
You would be surprised by how much you can learn if you break it down into small, repeatable sections. That is how I learned Angelina, Halfway Home and Mombasa.
5 seconds? Try 3! My guitars are now in the backyard smouldering. I'm going back to the kazoo! (For all the serious grumpys out there who are going to say 'Just practice more!,' my comment was meant to be humorous!) Tommy's in a class by himself and my guitars are fine. :)
"Now improvise" ... --plays some nice simple licks and arpegios, does cascade harmonics, starts singing accompanying lyrics, lays down a sick track. shreads on the guitar -- "ok now I shall stop improvising"
"OMG,,, AMAZING!!!! "SIR, I WISH I HAVE A BRILLIANT TALENT LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE. IT IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL TO LISTEN... AGAIN, YOU ARE AMAZING....IM A FAN.....
I think Tommy's guitar is tuned down a whole step-- so he says it's in C but it's really in Bb, or A#, but it's C in terms of the fingerings he's using.
Bill Seper I did as you suggested and looked at Sandra's arrangement. it's very nice and shows some real skill in arranging, and in harmonics. and she's so young! What a bright future she has. But for me, I really appreciate Tommy's creativeness with this piece. I appreciate that he adds some interesting chords, transitions, timing, and of course a whole variety of impeccable guitar technique. Sandra plays it just a little too straight for my taste. but thanks for pointing me to a shiny new Guitar Star.
I noticed a few negative nancies on here saying it's impossible to play like this. To all my guitarist friends out there, this is is all do-able no matter what any one says if you believe in yourself. The only part that would give me trouble to play in this is the sweeps, and of course memorizing such a masterful arrangement is the hardest task of all.
But, dude, what if you have, like, a JOB, man?!! I mean, there's only 24 hours in one day, dude!!......But it is nice to give yourself a dose of humility and inspiration, so there's two things I can use :)
Beautiful version. I have 8 guitars and not one of them have marks or peeling on them. It would bother very badly if one of them were scarred. I just don't how some can be okay with it.
The only lesson to be learnt here is, if you're old enough to understand and appreciate what's being played on this clip, you're too old to think about playing the way TE does. To get to HIS standard you need to start with the same dedication & drive at about the same age as he, 4 years old. Even then the chances are you won't get to his standard. Good luck.
Technically amazing but I just never have liked to much embellishment to the melodies kinda chops off the essence of the original I might be boring but I just like the simple original melodies like Ed Gerhard arrangement is my favorite...
Flexabust bergson Yeah, They are quite good. Don't recommend them if you don't know your way around the fret board. His explaining doesn't really go to a 'basic' level.
Connor Thomas YTeah i bought them, it would be nice to have a tab with it but at least you have the exact thing he's playing, it just took me a lot of rewind and slow mo haha. Thanks for the advice :)
Actually there WAS one other who might have compared with TE, sadly though, he's no longer with us, Bob Brozman D.23rd April 2013. A hell of a loss to the music world.
The whole lessons online thing just kills the artist for me no matter how good they are - Martin Taylor also its just so commercial and no heart. And yes I know how good he is !!!!
According to the tab/score, from the True Fire dvd, the guitar is tuned down a whole step. The same applies to the song Mountains of Illinois, as well, I believe.
You're negativity is false. You don't have to start at 4 in order to be tommy emmanuel good, or at least close to it. All you need is the "drive and dedication". So keep your lies to yourself.
Too busy. I like Tommy Emmanuel, his spirit, his technique, but he works the song too hard and loses, in my opinion, the "gentleness" of the piece in all of his flourishes and dances around this fine and elegant melody.
Yes...and all the completely redundant and unnecessary slides, harmonics and pyrotechnics. It seems like it's all about him, rather than Moon River. The beauty of this piece should be brought out and allowed to speak for itself. Mr Emmanuel is a technical wizard, in many ways, but sadly, can lack good taste on occasion (in my opinion).
BEST GUITARIST ALIVE
The balboa theater version makes me tear up every time. Keep on rockin' Tommy!
This is NOT a guitar lesson on how to play Moon River. It is a a master playing one of my favorite songs in a way that I will never be able to do.
Not with that attitude you won't...😁
An old favorite, beautifully played. Thanks for the momentary repreive.
Him and Naudo..best I've ever heard. Tom may have the edge. I love the way he uses cords and single notes as part of the melody...and then the chimes. Man this guy is amazing.
Soooo rich in harmony, and played so beautifully. God save you and protect you Tommy Emanuel..
BEAUTIFUL...Makes me miss my pops. RIP )))))) If you guys can't feel the genuine emotion of his playing you are a robot. Sheesh
Never seen something like this before. He is the one and only. Pure passion and talent
Never be intimidated. Be amazed and floored, but never intimidated. Learn something out of it -- even just a smidgen of something new and different -- if not in its entirety. Never give up, never give in...
Just absolutely beautiful! You've inspired me to play again and getting my guitar out of the closet and playing it again brought tears to my eyes!
The BEST version of Moon River !
by faaaaar
It's so good..he's the true acoustic guitar master. He just playes guitar like it is part of him.
I love this part, from 1:38 to 1:55 it's a real sense of music
Hi Tommy, thanks for sharing this song. I used to play this in violin a lot very requestable song.
mindboggling interpretation
Emmanuel brings out the very best in his guitars
Very creative and modern style! Guitar tuned in D and sound is wonderful!
This isn't a guitar lesson...but you are amazing, it was beautiful.

Yes. Played in several groups over the years but only play for my grandkids now.
Ci vediamo ad Aprile, Tommy! :D
immaginavo di trovarti fra qualche tutorial per suonare qualche pezzo di to the moon :)
Beautiful.
Grandissimo Tommy!!! Grazie per la tua musica!
Condivido in pieno, e grandioso, lo vidi dal vivo nel 2009,ha un tocco delicato fantastico Armonizza tantissimo quando suona un vero genio, 👌👌
Beautiful...! Thank you Tommy for sharing. I do enjoy all the richness you managed to produce 'alone'.

lindo muito lindo !!! emocionante, obrigada
Stupenda....
Tommy Emmanuel vs Steve Vai vs Joe Satriani: That would be an amazing matchup or an epic collaboration. :D
Two different worlds..
@@alward5678 Hmmm, I wouldn't think so. Whether it's a battle or a collaboration, it would be pretty epic.
I love the tone of this guitar. Well aged.
These lessons are great. Just watching them once and I can play it exactly like him....
I would usually dislike a video with a misleading title, but tommy was beyond my criteria.
Pure beauty
...guitar master!...period.
I love this
I love Tommy, but imho simple is more for this song
Genio!!! Impresionante!!! Muchas gracias
"Now improvise" ...
--plays some nice simple licks and arpegios,
does cascade harmonics,
starts singing accompanying lyrics,
lays down a sick track.
shreads on the guitar -- "ok now I shall stop improvising"
Nice arrangement
Satoshi Gogo's arrangement is so soothing ....but this is on some other level
Magic...
"OMG,,, AMAZING!!!! "SIR, I WISH I HAVE A BRILLIANT TALENT LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE. IT IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL TO LISTEN... AGAIN, YOU ARE AMAZING....IM A FAN.....
it actually is a lesson, but you have to purchase it from the website to get the whole thing.
Something about the timbre of the cord at 3:15 blew my mind
for me it was the one at 2:23
His cord shapes are unique
Cheers Tom, my guitar is now well alight in the grate.
Ho hum.......
Amazing.
Flawless!
espectacular!
I think Tommy's guitar is tuned down a whole step-- so he says it's in C but it's really in Bb, or A#, but it's C in terms of the fingerings he's using.
Ouch, my heart string just broke..
just pure class...:-)
Andy Williams would be proud of this arrangement !!!
surely you meant Henry Mancini, lol
Not a guitar lesson, but OMG AMAZING!!
totally badass!
i bought Bose headphones just to listen to this song!
Marvelous
100 people dislike this??? smh 🤦♂️
the KEY of C?? That was the key ok heaven tommy!
Good Fingerstyle!
Томми ты проникаешь в самое сердце!
Alright, that is a lesson!
Unvelievable
wordless
I guess Tommy tuned down his guitar. He says in C but it's in Bb?
Master
The version of moon river I'm looking for, most approximate to the guitar duo.
God knows I like Tommy's playing very much, but I must say that Sandra Bae's arrangement of this song is twice as good. Search for it if you haven't.
Bill Seper I did as you suggested and looked at Sandra's arrangement. it's very nice and shows some real skill in arranging, and in harmonics. and she's so young! What a bright future she has. do you play guitar?
Wow!
I noticed a few negative nancies on here saying it's impossible to play like this. I think I heard a bit of 'It Might Be You' a couple times in that rendition. Tommy might need to put a pickguard on the whole top of that guitar.
Is this lesson still available on Truefire? I can't find it anymore...
Огого! Браво!
Beautiful version. I have 8 guitars and not one of them have marks or peeling on them. It would bother very badly if one of them were scarred. I just don't how some can be okay with it.
If you play 300 shows a year it will leave some sort of marks
The only lesson to be learnt here is, if you're old enough to understand and appreciate what's being played on this clip, you're too old to think about playing the way TE does. the full lesson is in the description, this is an intro jeez guys
Technically amazing but I just never have liked to much embellishment to the melodies kinda chops off the essence of the original I might be boring but I just like the simple original melodies like Ed Gerhard arrangement is my favorite...
is there a version of this on any of his albums?
Question here! Has anybody tried out the trueFire lessons of Tommy's pieces? Wondering if it's worth it, and if he gives technical advice?
Thanks
Flexabust bergson Yeah, They are quite good. Don't recommend them if you don't know your way around the fret board. His explaining doesn't really go to a 'basic' level.

Oh my God...
Actually there WAS one other who might have compared with TE, sadly though, he's no longer with us, Bob Brozman D.23rd April 2013. A hell of a loss to the music world.
That is off the hook. The improv....wow.
yea no problem i understud everything..:)
The whole lessons online thing just kills the artist for me no matter how good they are - Martin Taylor also
its just so commercial and no heart. And yes I know how good he is !!!!
Not bad is he.
Tommy, are you tuned down a whole step? This is sounding in Bb.
*****
Slightly does not result in a whole step, but your explanation may still be correct.
***** This is from the official site that distributes his lessons, TrueFire probably already has the rights to this so that wouldn't make sense
According to the tab/score, from the True Fire dvd, the guitar is tuned down a whole step. The same applies to the song Mountains of Illinois, as well, I believe.
Сказка...
It took me weeks to learn it but finally recorded a fingerstyle version of it with RHYTHM added watch?v=gzZBrci8fLo what do you think?
woooaaaw!
You're negativity is false. You don't have to start at 4 in order to be tommy emmanuel good, or at least close to it. All you need is the "drive and dedication". So keep your lies to yourself.
From other planet....
:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMG
I smashed my guitar and broke my fingers with a hammer - Ta mate!
Too busy. I like Tommy Emmanuel, his spirit, his technique, but he works the song too hard and loses, in my opinion, the "gentleness" of the piece in all of his flourishes and dances around this fine and elegant melody.

Small ears
There is a few good recorder versions on the Tube
Intersting to read "flashy" in the comments from individuals who obviously don't practice their instruments eight hours or more a day
is it drop D ?
gooooooo
Гений
Niceee... but embellishment is over the top.
Sandra Bae's version sounds pure and angelic.
where can l find the tab of this version
it's partly ad lib, I doubt it exists
