I’m 40 and just started playing this year and bought the Edge clubs from Costco as my first set. You’re doing us budget golfers proud with that killer round!
@@ryand4940 Yeah man, in my case the ball goes into the trees just as good as any other set! Joking aside, I'm super beginner so take anything I say with a huge pound of salt. They have been holding up really well. I did quite a bit of golfing with them last year and have absolutely no complaints. A buddy of mine is a FAR better golfer than me (he's scratch) and has a much more expensive set (don't remember which ones exactly if I'm being honest) and I did do some A/B comparisons and when comparing directly mine felt a bit heavier but at the same time I had a much easier time hitting the ball. His are definitely meant to be used by more experienced golfers I imagine because when I did hit properly with his, it felt better, but I was having a hard time with consistency so in the end I actually liked mine more, but if I had any amount of skill then I might prefer his. Hard to tell for sure because I suck at golf. In any case, I don't think these clubs make me any worse than I would be with really nice clubs, it's all a matter of skill at this point (or lack thereof). That was irons/wedges, as far as the putter goes I actually really like the putter that comes with these Callaways. I have tried quite a few different putters when playing with friends and such and I have to say that I honestly prefer the putter that came with the Edges. The woods that come with the Edges are functional, but again it's hard to tell at my skill level where they sit when compared to different clubs. For new golfers I definitely recommend this set though! Great bang for the buck IMO and they seem like they are good enough to last for quite a few seasons before I feel like I will have to upgrade, though I'm just a hack so I'll probably stick with these until they break.
Costco owes you big time and you the putter and wedges are flying off the floor. Great shooting and we were all pulling for you to score the best round ever.
Hey Gabe, I've just gotta tell you: I was so pumped for you when the tiger woods '08 heartbeat came on the par putt on the 9th hole that I nearly woke my wife and son! Great round, and just goes to show you that you don't need to spend 2 grand to play good golf. Appreciate these videos! Congrats too!
I haven't played golf in about 9-10 years and I've started getting the itch again (in part thanks to your videos) and I was very close to dropping 2 grand on a whole new set of clubs on a wim and watching this video was inspirational and made me realize that it's not the clubs, it's just continuous practice. You made it look so easy to play par golf with "cheap" entry level clubs. So thank you for helping me not spend money on something I don't need 😂
Gabe, the enthusiasm on your channel, along with the enthusiasm on the "Stacked Golf" UA-cam channel, really helps me be more positive in these tougher times. Really great to see you back out on the course. We've had a good amount of rain here in west Orlando too.
i have the costco set from last year. i have enjoyed them so much. callaway quality at the costco price. highly recommend these clubs to anyone that is high handicap. i am a 13 handicap now was a 17 before.i have shot my best rounds with these clubs i broke 90 a few times.
I’m an 18 h/c. Just brought this whole set apart from the putter is an Odyssey which is amazing. My game is getting better and better. Heading in the right direction.
Straight is good! As a senior, I don't hit as far as others but in a scramble my team always lets me hit first to have a safe shot. Fun video to watch your mind set.
I bought the wedges on sale for $120 for the set. I love them. The grip was the cheap part but easy enough to replace. I also play the Kirkland balls. They seem durable enough to me, but mine usually go camping or swimming long before durability becomes an issue. They are definitely a few yards shorter than ProV's and do spin a bit more, but the value is simply unbeatable.
Just bought the edge set n someone gave me the wedges. I’m hoping I’ll be as happy as you are playing. Your reviews are great and a joy to watch you have such a cool time making them. Thanks for your enthusiasm
`You gotta take a risk sometimes!!!‘Love this Gabe. Leap of faith, selling our home, and leaving a great job at a great company to move to Tampa for a fresh start!!!!
This video came up when looking for reviews on the Costco Wedge set, and I'm glad it did. Just subscribed to your channel and it was entertaining watching you use this Costco set. Love the enthusiasm, keep up the great content!
Great round, Gabe. Once again, your play underscores the importance of having a consistent swing. Equipment is important but lessons and practice will also pay huge dividends. I can't wait to hit the course tomorrow morning. The weather has been very cooperative in St. Lucie County. Cheers.
I’ve been playing the Kirkland balls and gloves from Costco for two seasons now. They’re both fantastic value! And I haven’t tried the putter or wedges as I’ve been pretty happy with what I have but you certainly have me thinking now. Great video!
YES!!!!! Even Par!!!! Gabe, the only downside I see is the 5 Hybrid...maybe replace it with a 5 wood or a different hybrid. I have an idea. A budget of 1K...best forgiving set you could put together. The only stipulation, you have to use it for 4 full rounds.
Sometimes the UA-cam algorithm nails it when a video randomly pops up. I’ve only played once in the last maybe 8 years, but that time woke me up. I was looking at building this almost exact set to get going and to see you use the clubs, explain them, but to also enjoy them the way you did, I’m subscribing. Thanks for the video, it was complete enjoyment 👍👍
Great video again, loved the final putt. Sadly the same clubs are £849.97 in UK = $1168 at today’s rate. That’s $370 more in uk. Great recovery on the 9th that second shot happens to us all, which is good you showed that for all who follow you, it can happen to the good players not just beginners
I ordered these off Amazon yesterday and I can’t wait to receive them. Watching you ply with these clubs has me believing I made a good decision. I’m a high handicapper and my current clubs are 15 years old that cost $150. Thanks for the videos and hopefully you make more with these clubs!
Yes but if we all played solid golf with the beginner sets would we upgrade to their top end brands / custom fits? I am surprised there is no family of club brands like there are with cars eg Skoda/ seat / VW / Audi covering the price ranges
Great videos! Don't forget to grab the $1.50 hot dog and soda at Costco. I plan on purchasing my first set of clubs and your video was very informative. I am a new fan and look forward to seeing more videos. Costco food samples are also the best!
Been playing the wedges and putter for 18 months and love them. Was shooting mid 90s now low 80s. Did the clubs shave 10 strokes...no practice did. Did the clubs help...I think so and that is all that matters. Thanks for the great content.
I just bought me a set of Costco wedge set for 50 bucks Brand new in the Box. At a scratch and dent store. And what I have hit with them so far in the yard I have really liked them Can't wait to get out on the course and you use them
I gave them a try and I do agree that they perform well! My only little not even complaint was they were a bit lightweight compared to my Cleveland CG One. They are totally worth it for a beginner or high handicap. The Kirkland Balls are my Go-To Balls. Any Day. I love how they check up so much even on my approach wedge.
Just discovered your channel and I must admit I enjoy the heck out of these videos. I took your advice and bought the Kirkland putter as a gift for a family member. Keep it up.
I am getting the ladies version of the Callaway set for my wife and when the new version of the wedges come out. I think the Odyssey putter will be fine for her but I am curious to try that Kirkland putter for myself.
This surpasses your D9 test and is such an entertaining and well-edited video. Keep these real-world tests coming on the course, they are so much better than simulator videos. I didn't like that 5 hybrid either. I have a similar club and I'd just rather hit a regular 4 iron. Those Kirkland wedges are boss, though!
Walk it in Gabe! Walk it in! Great round out there! That chip in was awesome with the 60! Love the risk shot off the tree, that's something that I would do! Couldn't ask for a better test with the costco clubs and your looking swag out there with that hat!
Congratulations Son grest 9 holes...Very impressive...You proved price is not the answer to better pkay...The Kirkland ball is a good one...The putter is gre as t.wedges fine irons very good .Driver top shelf !!..Again great 9 hi holes!!!
I've been using KS balls and the wedges all season. LOVE the wedges for sure. Greatly improved my game. My 52 is topping out around 95 though, seems like 110 is a bit of a stretch there...haha
OMG is right. I enjoyed the ninth before the putt. I thought 35 footer, no way. When the video went into slo-mo, I literally yelled out - no way. Kirkland do not make rubbish and Costco do not stock rubbish. That was a top video.
This is pretty much my exact bag without the putter. After about 250 balls at the range my Edge Driver developed a crack right where the face and top of the head meet. Got in contact with Callaway and they sent me a Rogue replacement as Edges were not available. Good to know they stand behind their product even if you can't buy it anywhere else.
Great to watch you play 9 with Kirkland stuff and prove that the clubs in the right hand can perform well, in amateur hands not so sure but then again I am sure they would be as good as anything else. Going to play my first 9 holes and step out of the driving range on Aug 2 wish me luck
Oh I'm so excited to hear that Filipe! Good luck and focus on the positives. Golf is hard in the beginning but rewarding if you stick it thru. Savor the good shots!
@@LetsPlayThru I will update you, going to try and relax 39 just picking up clubs but my brother who has been playing for years says I have a nature swing … we shall see
Good luck remember it is just a game and your the one hitting the ball, so no-else to blame. Keep in mind the second shot on the 9th you have just watched..those horror shots can happen to anyone not just beginners. Don’t forget to have some proper lessons and get the basics right.
@@LetsPlayThru As promised the message after my first round of 9 ever, first ever anything. Played 9 30par shot a 43 but much fun was had and got paired up with two older gentleman but we kept it moving. Much fun was had
I wouldn't be surprised if the Edge set was good. It looks like Callaway just recycled the Diablo Octane woods and the X2 Hot irons. I've got the X2 Hot irons in the bag now, and they're great.
Just bought the Callaways and will eventually add the wedges. Just getting back into golf and have found your reviews of these clubs very useful. Just wish I was playing in my favourite place too! I love Florida. New subscriber here. Keep up the good work mate.
Just getting into golf with my friends. Got this set and they’re great. Or at least I think, I’m pretty bad but I’m trying to get better. Great clubs for someone trying to just get out on the course. My dad wants to get a set but they are so hard to find. Got the last set at a local Costco within 400 miles lol
I’m a one year golfer that plays a 10 (at best) to 20 over on a nine hole course. I have an old ping g2 set with the orange dot and a Taylormade R7 driver. Do you think this is edge set is an upgrade? I’ve thought about getting fitted for a top of the line set, but I just don’t know if paying 2,500 dollars is worth it for my experience level. My Costco at the moment has multiple sets of these, so I’m tempted to get them before they sellout. Some people mention getting used clubs, but I feel like that process of researching would be exhausting. Any thoughts?
I like the costco wedges but switched to the new Cleveland ripcores. Started by swapping the lob because I wanted less bounce and more grind, but really liked the heavier feel over the costco's and ended up switching the sand and gap as well. If you like full grind and higher bounce they are great. If you manly just want to pitch/chip with a square club face they are really hard to beat, but if you like to play around opening the face and what not it's harder to get into tighter lies.
Just goes to prove that it’s not the equipment but the golfer. Highly entertaining. Was that Carrollwood CC? I play out of Fox Hollow in Trinity. Join me some day?!

Spot on assessment. Agree completely
The Tommy Armour 845 irons are also a great beginner set, a new rendition of an old classic from Golf Galaxy & Dicks.
Just goes to prove that it’s not the equipment but the golfer. Highly entertaining. Was that Carrollwood CC? I play out of Fox Hollow in Trinity. Join me some day?!
Awesome round! Thanks for the video.
