This video is spot on. I picked up a set at the beginning of Covid. Played with them a couple years and they are really nice. This year I started to upgrade my bag and ended up investing quite a bit into my new setup. Now I'm going to sell the Edge set.
I got these clubs after coming back into golf after about 8 years away from it and decided my 25 year old clubs needed to go! Love this set, great value, performs really well and looks good. I just want to fill in the gaps a little with a 3 hybrid and a 50 and 60 degree wedge. Possibly will upgrade the driver to the Rogue ST max when they get discontinued and go on sale. I can’t really recommend them highly enough, just need to get some lessons now to correct my life time of self taught bad habits! 😂 Want to break 90 this season and try and get down to the teens with my handicap 👍🏻
@@jonathantomlinson4401I recommended the cobra speedzone 3 hybrid as it’s similar to the 5 hybrid in the set. However if you want to spend more money get a callaway one such as the rogue
Been playing 30 years and up till 6 months ago, these are the type of sets I was buying. Now purchased 2500 pound set and apart from the G425 Driver, not much difference. It's all to do with the operator and not the tools.
Big value in that big name. TaylorMade and Cobra both offer a complete set, both a good bit more expensive as well. TM set around $1200, Cobra's about $900. Callaway had them in price & imo with the Odyssey putter name in the mix sealed the deal for them. Good for all the golfers who bought in and got solid value for it!!
These remind me a lot of the steelhead XR irons seeing that big weight in the cavity and wouldn’t surprise me if they are a cheapened version of them basically without the “marketing tech.” But to me it still makes more sense to just buy the originally higher priced irons that came out 6, 7, 8 years ago rather than the edge irons. Prices are gonna be pretty close and you’re getting a much higher quality controlled iron set.
Even more specifically I have a set of the original irons these Callaway edge irons are based off of, the 2014 callaway x2 hots. They were fantastic and one of the longest hitting sets of irons back then and they seem to still be fantastic as the current version of the Callaway Edge. And as an added bonus I love how they looked then so the fact that they changed almost nothing on this re-badging I get to see other people using similar clubs to mine while knowing I have the OG’s.
The last time I was at the range, someone happened to have a set of these, because they are in no ways different from the x2 hot they were also carrying just as far club for club. The only real advantage to getting the x2 hots over these is if you are into the next stage of golf and need some longer irons in the mix as this set stops at the 6i vs the x2 hots went all the way up to a 3i. But that isn’t really going to be a problem for the person most likely to buy this set and with that in mind I couldn’t imagine a better place to start for the price.
Congrats on admitting that you were wrong ,I play these callaway irons but mine are the callaway x2hot irons from 2014 They just put the edge logo on them but really they are the x2hot irons rebranded for 2022-2024 Great set of distance irons sure
Simon, I hate to say it to u bud but I don't think the UA-cam marketing only works for the big named brands like these Callaway golf sets, look at the Kirkland balls for example, and the Kirkland wedges both these shoot off the shelves at my local Costco.
Hi Simon very good video. How do you think they compare to the Callaway warbird set? I'm just starting out and trying to decide between Warbird set that includes the bag at American golf and the Costco Edge set and then by a bag separately. Thanks for any comments back . Cheers
Hi Simon. Really enjoy your content. As was previously said these clubs weren’t looked after. Or maybe that is what the price point gets you. But you definitely hit them well.
I bought a very cheap (less than £200 & included a very decent bag) package set but I would never think to sell them on. But with that Calloway edge set at appx £500....I would think the name Callaway would re-sell no problem.
package sets aren't what they used to be .# It could be that people bought them as a good idea and then they sit in the garage with the good idea exercise equipment and the good idea bikes etc
i just picked up the irons driver and 3 wood in this set for £120 driver has a little wear but irons and 3 wood look as good as new iknow the main selling point was the putter but do you think thats a good deal as surely in a years time id still get 100 for the irons and woods sold together
Love your content I'm looking for advice where can I get a box for a cart bag (my bag's zipper has broken I've found a repair company but need a box for shipping) with you doing a lot of tradeing I hope you can help
Can any of you golfers help me out? I have a match tomorrow in which I must give my opponent shots, 6 I think. Should the match surpass 18 holes, am I required to then give further shots?? Thanks
Yes - essentially you're starting another 18, so the shot allowance resets. I discovered this in my first ever matchplay KO. We were tied after 18 and my opponent insisted that there were no more shots as we went to extra holes. He won. However, when we reported the result, the competition sec told us that I should have had my shot allowance (which would have given me a shot on hole 1) so we had to replay the match.
@@simondewhurst3237 The other important thing is to check what the rules are for your competition in the event of the match ending all square. Do the rules say sudden death or a rematch? Or to be decided before teeing off? Worth checking before you tee off.
I think they’ve been used to hammer nails in or to fend off a bear attack? Had mine over a year and played approx 70 rounds and they still look and feel great
Same has the x2 hot did on the black in the cavity. I had the standard ( which these irons are, they just renamed them)and still have a set of the pro - the black pant on the weighting is really thin and chips really easily with a bit of bag clatter to show the metal underneath. Head covers if you buy a set and want to keep them fresh

The irons are the callaway x2hot irons with the edge logo on them ,I Still play the x2hot irons and hybrids they are a great distance iron from2014
I got this set but the green model off eBay as at the time Costco wasn’t selling them in September. May have over paid a bit but I really like them.
The green set was nicer looking I think.

Would it makes sense to move a set of Calloway strata’s as a whole piece or break the set up and sell it in pieces?
Local Costco does not carry golf sets, only wedge set, putter balls & gloves!
Online callaway $579
Pro Launch $479
TP5 2-doz $80
✌️
Rocking the ST Max Irons fitted got to say really like them

None of the above mattered in the end, I won 7&6 and……. It was 8 shots that I surrendered!!
Informative!
I got them 3 months ago I’m going to play them a year and take them back to Costco and get my money back 😂
Hi Simon
Hi Alex 😎
I wouldn't expect year old clubs to look as bad as those, they're so chipped!
That’s right, even the back of the club, on the “Edge” badge insert, was scuffed /dented. How does that happen?
I think they’ve been used to hammer nails in or to fend off a bear attack? Had mine over a year and played approx 70 rounds and they still look and feel great
Maybe they were used by a true weekend hacker that may explain it
Yep looking very poorly
