  • Need to mount a pipe flange on your wall, but no stud? No worries! This hack will show you how to make it secure and way stronger than using regular drywall anchors.
I use no. 12 size screws, which have just the right size head to match these flanges really well.
    Supplies Needed:
    Pipe Flange - 10pk available here - amzn.to/3grMV3h
    Philips Screwdriver
    Flathead Screwdriver
1/4" Plywood or similar piece of wood (1" wide x 4" long)
    Drill
    9/64" Drillbit
    1-3/8" hole saw
    No. 12 screws - 50pk available here - amzn.to/3Df3R67
    Hot glue gun - amzn.to/3ePI5fY
    Glue Sticks - amzn.to/3TGrvxE
    3' piece of string
    Pencil
    Tape Measure

excellent video all around - thanks! one thought is maybe leave the strings on and hold them while you drill the pilot holes, then remove the strings. ✌🏽

great idea. This reminds me of patching up a hole in drywall and putting a small piece of wood behind it.

I just through out my entertainment center and built my 55 inch TV and game console stand out of this stuff mounted to the wall. It is a little spending but it's solid, looks cool and freed up lots of space. Plus you can easily add as much as you want. Do not use wood screws to secure to the wall. I used metal screws and works perfect.that board behind the sheet rock is a good idea.👍👍👍

Could have saved yourself the trouble and bought some toggle screw anchor / bolts.

I am so grateful for DIY UA-camrs. They are a steady source of business for us. You would be amazed how many people try to fix basic issues and fail spectacularly. To fix the issue you were trying to address we would open the wall cavity and instal blocking. In total it would take a minute or so to cut the drywall. Another couple minutes to cut the blocking to size. Then repair the drywall and paint. The longest portion of time would be waiting for the compound, texture and paint to dry. Once it’s dry you are good to go forever. If you change the type of holder it doesn’t matter. You now have a solid block of wood behind it. Towel racks, wall hanging tvs, kitchen cabinets, stair railing, is all done the same way.

Do not affix your plug until you’ve ore drilled holes. Just in case your wood pieces fall off

Good approach, I would have drilled the holes whilst I had the string still attached to prevent the stick moving

Would this application be strong enough for a hand towel rack?? I have no studs there either. Thank you. BTW, what about a ceiling mounted pipe shelf?? Could I do this too? My house is old but I bought it 5 years ago and as I've needed projects along the way, i've noticed a lot of shoddy work when it came to spacing the studs. Thank you!
