Transfiguration became my favorite damage spell because it kills two enemies with one cast with only one skill point upgrade needed. It's great that you can use it while in stealth so you can pick enemies off without even getting into combat.

That Wingardium Leviosa at the end absolutely sent me. xD The thought of some enemy seeing a sack of flour floating towards him only to then get killed be the slowly shoving sack of flour is just something else. :D
Only downside to use this spell in combat is that you have to be in combat first. If you try to do it when the enemies are unaware of you, it does nothing ;__;
@@PlayDohBear well not nothing, it can show enemies off ledges without raising the alarm. But yeah, there is a reason it is not in B and that is the combat restriction.
Arresto Momentum is my favorite stealth utility spell - make an enemy helpless so you can stealth around them, handy when two enemies are facing each other.
One of my favorite combos I’ve been using lately is Accio -> Incendio -> Descendo. Pull an enemy towards you, set them ablaze, then slam them to the ground. Kills basic enemies quickly and is super satisfying
I actually use depulso in combat all the time to just instantly kill enemies. If you combine levioso and depulso while aiming upward, you can full send enemies off cliffs and other elevated things like towers, walls and hills to an instadeath by fall damage.
@@Zorant0Zero From the present: fall damage is fine. It comes down to the distance the enemy is from the ground and 9/10 it usually kills. The patch only affected Trolls (which are already unaffected by Depulso and other movement based spells; you only get the brief window due to control).
Depulso isn't so bad when using it in confined spaces such as caves and hallways since enemies are more likely to hit walls which is where the real damage lies. That's where it really shines in my opinion as supposed to open fields where sometimes you knock your opponents just out of spell range
Pro tip: you can also switch spell wheels during the animation of the unforgivable curses It's helped me a lot as I have kept all of them in separate wheels but at the same position So i spam the 3 spells in the wheel, cast the unforgivable and change the set in animation. Doesn't make too much of a difference but helps to flawlessly deal damage
I've been obsessed with the transformation spell ever since I got it. So satisfying to turn someone into and exploding barrel and then use it to one shot them and anyone else around
Just wanna say that using force pu---sorry, depulso--- on enemies next to ledges/cliffs is sooo rewarding. Or accio them up to you if above and then force p---dammit sorry, depulso--- is also great
I do that a lot. As a Ravenclaw, I try do be a good and unorthodox guy that kills "naturally", not through damage spells. I just go for them when there are too much enemies or when they are immune to Flipendo/Accio. Sending an enemy hundreds of meters away after bringing them to you in higher ground is awesome.
Imperio has to be my favourite, it's so useful for things like the many spider dungeons I diddnt want to deal with, just use disillusion before entering rooms then as the enemies flood the room use imperio on the most powerful and then let them kill eachother if there is more than one just keep casting imperio, takes a while but once there is only one enemy left its east enough to kill them without having to get too close, saved me a lit of trauma in later game dungeons, (I know we have arachnophobia mode now but it still dosent help loads for me)
Arresto Momentum is one of my favourite spells - it lasts so long, that you can stop any enemy and forget about them - they will most probably die to the curse damage effect
Depulso is fantastic against inferius and overall most animals who like to jump at you. With confringo incendio and accio it makes a great anti-beast loadout since you wont need shield breakers in yellow categories
This is the first video I’ve seen that actually rates things so well. For example everyone’s been hatin on incendio and it’s my personal favorite damage spell. Anyways great video.
Disillusionment is easily S tier for me. It makes almost every encounter in the game a joke, especially if you go for the stealth tree which has just 4 points to spend so you can almost always include it in your build. The only exception to this are some story and cutscene related spawned in enemies. You can even oneshot some of the rare encounter minibosses thanks to petrificus totalus. It's insane how it trivializes the game because your own and the enemy level aswell as the difficulty setting don't matter anymore.
People only "get too strong" if they keep up with upgrading their gear. On the one hand, this means "casual" players might get more satisfaction out of 4 spell combos. On the other hand, this means the game might actually be more fun if you run around with no pants on.
4 Spell combo - late game you are killing enemies with one and if you are in low level region even auto annihilates them. I find enemies on hard to be too tanky early on but too easy to kill later. They should bring some of the late game lunacy to early game to have balanced gameplay because this game left me wondering why fools like Voldemort or Grindelwald were ever a thing when I would 1v2 both of them.
@@Dark_Voice we go over why this is useless late game in the end part of the video. 4 spell combos late game end up being more like setup combos than one you can use on a single enemy.
Finally got to playing this and damn it's fun. Thanks for putting this together I can't think of a better guy to do the maths for this game and good timing on your vids I haven't even unlocked talents yet 😅
Great tier list but Depulso deserves more love, it’s just to use in specific situations (like you are up a cliff, the combo accio + depulso is instant kill for anyone) or in confined spaces
There will definitely be a mod at some point to make enemies scale better with the player. It would take away some of the sense of realism/the power trip of feeling like you’ve gotten so powerful that you’re 2-shotting everything, but tbh, I think the fun combos are way more rewarding and emphasize skill and creativity, which is what it means to be a true wizard.
@@PlayDohBear Disarming opponents and using their weapons (with goblins usually) to break shields is quite good. Follow with a Glacius+ Diffindo and most enemies die or go to low HPs so one basic cast kills them. Using Focus is quite important tho.
@@AlldaylongRock You can see me doing this in the Expel clip when I cover the spell. Only works on Goblins though (the weapon throw part). If it worked on other enemies like this, I would have def ranked it higher for sure.
@@PlayDohBear Also works with the Pensieve guards, even the boss ones.. And it puts them in a vulnerable state as well. For me, one should build spell wheels for each type of enemy. Accio+Incendio is super satisfying, especially with the talents, and if one doesnt die, you can always top it with a Depulso for the giggles. But for raw ranged power, nothing really beats Glacius+Diffindo.
A good follow up to this video, to go with your last bit on how overpowered the character gets and so combat is not longer fun, you could do a difficulty mods showcase! What I use is NoHealthRegen, Harder Mode(s) +25% damage to me, Harder Mode(s) +100% enemy health, Harder Mode(s) MaxNPCLevelScaling, Harder Mode(s) MoreEnemies, and More Aggressive Enemies (0.4 tick option only).
I also play with all HUD elements off, and mods to turn off things you can't usually turn off like UI elements toggler for the white outlines and No Floating Icons, and HiddenAutoSave.
Lastly, Mouse Gesture to Spell is an authohotkey script that essentially unlocks being able to use all spells all the time without dealing with switching the hotbar and feeling immersed in the wand movements! I suggest the basic one, not the diagonal as the diagonal isn't super responsive in combat.
Fights like the troll in front of Lodgok's quest and the spider after the phoenix quest make you feel like you *really* accomplished something playing this way :D
damn man you just tiered everything I was thinking into a video! thanks so much, I couldnt tell for sure if i was being biased or not. The only spell i didnt expeiment too much with was bombarda though, but by the time i got it I was already stuck on either curse spells or the 3-4 combo (accio, descendo, glacius, incendio). Nice to know that bombarda has a multiplier when inferi are on fire though! (didnt know that at all)
You're welcome Aki! I forgot to mention this, but if you Bombarda something to a wall, they take more damage too. Although, Inferi's are so weak when they are on fire, I don't think the extra damage from Bombarda even matters. They'll just die instantly to even a basic auto attack lmao.
It's funny, once I learn to use a certain spell, I don't like any others. My Ideal single page would be Accio/Depulso (depends on enemy type), Crucio, Levioso, Confringo/Expelliarmus (again depends on enemy). Levioso is probably my favourite/most used spell. It's cc effect is just so damn useful in all situations
I put laceration 3 on all my gear and upgraded my diffindo. Combined with a focus potion and the invisibility spell and you have a long range petrificus totalus weapon for basically anything except trolls and inferi, all from stealth.
The only time I ever even use Depulso is during those Depulso puzzles, and also when throwing enemies over cliffs while in stealth mode whenever I get super frustrated with how goddamn SHORT ranged Petrificus Totalis is. Mainly only during Depulso puzzles does it shine more than anything else. If there's one other spell in this game that SHOULD have been part of the stealth set, it would be *"OBLIVIATE".* Why the f*** it isn't in the game is beyond me, it's the perfect thing to have as a medium to short-ranged spell over Petrificus Totalis (which should really be MEDIUM to slightly LONG range). Hell, *obliviate* is the perfect spell to erase the awareness question marks on enemies that can spot you when they think they can spot you.
I wish they would either make a mod or just add long-ranged Petrificus Totalus in a DLC. It would be a fantastic damage spell (yes, damage, as while you can't one-shot enemies when you're not in stealth mode, it should have draining damage).
In my opinion, Accio is the best spell in the game. I always have it in the first slot of every page because I use it in combat so often, nearly every puzzle requires it, and you can quickly grab a flying page if you see one.
I tend to us two wheels for battle, the three curses and diffindo, then accio, descendo, glacius and bombarda or confringo, one wheel was utility Lumos, reparo, accio and incendio for trials and stuff and one was stealth/beast, the grab bag, invisibility, levioso and arresto momentum. Never really used expeliarmus since early game.
Agree with most of this list. I would probably have dropped Bombarda and Confringo by one and swapped Arresto Momentum/Depulso, but we are splitting hairs here. Seems like we view the game very similarly for the most part. I love Bombarda and agree it's slept on but I have a hard time ranking it over Diffindo personally because Diffindo is just so versatile, higher damage, and has the same cooldown. I just never feel like I get the most value out of Bombarda unless it is combined with Levioso/Accio, so because of that I would rank it similarly to Incendio but you just trade damage for range. Though to be fair I also haven't been doing tons of battle arenas, mainly spacing out the story and side quests, so maybe with that enemy density it is better. Might have to mess with the spell some more. Also Confringo is only ever used for me when I deal with Infernius, but Expelliarmus I find more useful as a spam spell due to the curse effect and CC for anyone with a wand or weapon. The damage isn't ever great, but I think of it like it's close enough in damage to Confringo while mechanically working similar to Flippendo. Ashwinders are probably the most annoying enemies for me on hard with so many shields, so any way I can CC them more I'll take, and the damage spikes with AM throw against goblins is just too much fun. I'm also near the max level and for me I still often find three spell combos to be useful against on level enemies, but agree that four is usually overkill. Great video, always find peoples informed opinions interesting to hear.
Thanks moss! I know what you mean regarding Bombarda sometimes, but overall it's really nice when paired with something like Levi (as you mentioned). But the talent for Diffindo was the only reason stopping me from putting it into S. It's my favorite spell and I definitely did want to bias it into S tier, but that talent can be so on or off in the exact same situation.
I think Depulso shines when you're fighting near a cliff. You can use it to throw enemies over the cliff for very high damage and a near guaranteed instant kill.
I don't know why everyone's freaking out about the Unforgiveable curses in universe. There's so many ways to kill people and torture people with magic other than directly doing that thing. As shown in the video.
I personally like too use spell sets for ranges. Slot 1, pull, incindio, slam and leviosa. 2... OK I haven't actually decided what spells I'm using for my ranged setup. I'm lazy so I just keep all exploration or utility spells on my 4th setup and sawp those around as needed.
I run Expelliarmus, Diffindo, Glacius, and Bombarda. Not the highest DPS, but I can disarm the threats, do insane AoE with Glacius+Bombarda and Diffindo for extra damage and AoE.
It's main use people do is to accio multiple enemies into a 1 shot. Personally, I love to use dodge roll + swift to get in, blast incendio and then combo.
@@PlayDohBear I think they put Herbology wrongly 10x stronger - if a talent for all plants gives more bonus then talent for specific plant, that's a bug. In comparison concentration gives smaller bonus than specific spell traits. Still it is satisfying to have your cabbages eat all enemies.
One things you forgot. Arresto does bonus damage to goblin assassins if you time it right. Its also a dueling feat for them. Still wouldn't rate it higher. Also, I rank imperio down into A section. Mainly because by itself Imperio does no damage and has a long animation. Late game, by the time you are done using imperio is about the time you could have killed everything. The chaining of curses from an imperio target are RNG and not reliable unlike using cruicio and basic attacks. So while it is still a good spell, I don't rate it as an S.
If the only purpose of something like flippendo is to apply a curse, why not just use expellaramus and get both a curse and damage (and sometimes a CC). Only advantage of flipendo is the short cooldown, but you will need to wait until the other combo pieces are off cooldown anyway limiting that benefit. I value expellaramus quite highly if going with the unforgiven trait given the large damage multiplier that trait has and the fact curses also buff non-red spell damage.
The short cooldown can apply to your Basic Attacks as well, while waiting for the other spells to come off their own cooldown. It's also helpful to curse multiple enemies if you want to set up for a AK wipe and really great against Dugbogs/Trolls/other enemies that go into a vuln state from a flip. I usually like to have Expel off CD to break red shields and for Ashwinders.
@@PlayDohBear if getting all the curse talents, probably want both. Arresto is the hardest sell because of the long cooldown it is hard to justify spell space for it. I typically just gulp down a maxima potion for wizard encounters to avoid the shields all together. Unforgiven trait is so good that the curse applying spells is similar to the ice spell in function, only with a 40 second duration, allow multiple boosted followups, and has a shorter cooldown. Going with curses and avoiding all 15+ cooldown spells works well with focus potion mastery too and if too lazy to cycle through spell wheels. Something like confringo/flippendo/desendo/expel. Damage spells will be similar to diffendo/bombarda thanks to the huge unforgiven trait damage bonus but without the cooldowns so you can cast more often.
@@jonsummers3453 Ye, unforgivable is my fav build in the game so far. I even have a guide on it (was my first HL video). I basically just use Arresto as a curse applicator/yellow shield breaker. I used to use it with Descendo early on, but prefer Levi/Descendo now.
@@PlayDohBear I started using Flippendo and then descendo. You get the “airborne damage” bonus added to descendo if you cast them one after the other and also the huge curse damage multiplier is applied. This makes it better than Levi, because you get the curse added on for free. It also does really high damage; more than any other two spell combo I’ve tested with unforgiven, assuming the enemies are light enough to be lifted. It does significantly more damage than the famous glacious/defindo combo; close to 50% more (if not cursed). I save expel/glacious/defindo/bombardo on a second wheel for enemies that can’t be lifted, like trolls for maximum single target damage against those.
@@jonsummers3453 Later into the game, no enemy can survive a simple Levi/Descendo. I'm not a huge fan of stacking all colored spells on one wheel simply because I like having 1 of each color (aside from my curse wheel) to break shields at any given moment. Not an issue w/the curse wheel as all curses break shields.
I completed the game 100% with my male Slytherin. Now I'm in my 2nd pt with a friendly blonde Ravenclaw girl. Two things; I want do achieve as much as possible BEFORE the first test (which changes the season, not the Jackdaw Quest - this is needed for unlocking talents). Second; no dark spells allowed at all. She's a bright girl and has nothing bad in her heart^^ You can do A LOT before that first season change. It's crazy.
Avada Kedavra mastery is so stupidly overpowered, that I've banned it from my playthroughs. The entire combat system gets thrown over board and gets replaced with "Spread curses, Avada Kedavra, repeat". The high cooldown of AK doesn't matter because, if you do it right, which isn't difficult, this one spell will instantly end the fight. It's probably off-cooldown again until you meet the next group of enemies and spread your curses to them. With a mod that reduces its cooldown, in combination with the ban from its mastery talent, the combat system remains as interesting as it should be.
The only time I find myself using AK is during Speedruns for Battle Arenas for that wave skip mechanic when done right. You can view the one I have uploaded on my channel if you haven't seen it yet. Was a pretty 🔥 run.
I like Depulso. Yes, it's rather inconsistent, but that's part of an allure for me - and when it hits, it hits hard. But D seems fair, honestly. Everything seems fair on this tier list, you clearly know what you're talking about, and I was thinking about replacing Depulso with Bombarda, but the latter feels messy to me. I don't have much experience with that spell, but does the fact that it can destroy crates and other items you can throw into enemies didn't affect your ranking? It may be not a big deal, or it might be my personal preference, but for some reason, it really feels awful. What are your thoughts on that? Oh, and thank you for a fair assessment of Flipendo - the most underrated spell in my opinion.
Thank you! And personally, it hasn't been much of a bother. In fact in some cases (like battle arenas) I actually use it to blow up objects on purpose so other game doesn't randomly target a box when trying to use a spell. I find that the devs did a great job placing objects in most areas for AM throw to where I don't really worry about Bombarda breaking objects. Flipendo is great. That low cd and ofc bullying cows. 🐮
Omg finally! That👏. Is👏. What👏. I👏. Have👏. Been👏. Saying👏. I absolutely love, love this rating. Putting bombarda in S tier has to be the highlight for me. After platinuming the game just last night, it is absolutely my favorites spell in the game...so I was kinda sad to see it so low in other people's tier lists on the internet. Great video.
Underrated is basic cast when your enemy is cursed and u have 6 unforgivable 3 traits. I can just flipenndo to curse them then basic cast combo and it’s over lol. Flipendo 5 sec cool down its wild.
Aresto momentum becomes better if you don't use unforgivable curses. All 3 unforgivable curses make a single target not a problem anymore. But if you don't use unforgivables then aresto momentum fills that function.
Expel and Flip does the same thing. Flip even more so with its 5sec CDR. Just use all 3 since they all apply curses when upgraded w/talents. All Arresto does is slow them/lift them. Same function as Accio/Levi (although the duration is much longer w/Arresto). All of this is trivial anyways when we just 1 shot mobs later into the game.
@@PlayDohBear Yeah that's true. On my first playthrough I didn't use any dark art talents, unforgivables, or the transfiguration talent, and I never used wiggenweld potion in combat. The game is so much harder. I'm glad I played that way my first time. I started a dark arts build. I feel like an immortal god with dark arts.
Expeliarmus deserves A tier because it does crazy damage to enemies with throwing their own weapons and curses them so while paired with unforgivable 3 it does tons of damage
Great video but I don't know whether the game changed with patches but in my experience the later into the game the enemies survive more spells, not fewer. While in the early game accio-incendio already killed everything later in the game even the trash-mobs survive that easily and only glacius-diffendo is a 2-hit combo that kills trash immediately. The only exception is if drinking buff potions or making use of tier 3 traits on cloths etc.
id rank depulsi higher because you can push them off high places. it may suck because you have to go down to get the loot or can’ get it, but its really easy to get r8d of a powerful enemy
the real SSS skill that outshines them all is protego tho. its basically the only one i really use anymore for 99% of enemies. Instantly AoE kills all but trolls. Breaks all shields, even on hard. Satisfying as hell. No cooldown.
Protego only breaks shields with the Protego Mastery talent (AOE close range on a perfect Protego). The other Protego Mastery does not. And no there are plenty of enemies that Progeto even with all it's upgrades at level 40 can't kill. Ashwinder executioners, dugbogs, and all other elites. And yes it does have a cooldown*, the cooldown being you need an enemy to use a blockable attack.
@@PlayDohBear because they seem to have some weird resistance to it. Against most enemies the protego wave + stupify attack deals WAY more damage than the glacius+incendio combo. Even running a full concentration III outfit. It is only against certain enemy types that the protego damage seems to get nerfed to about 1/2-1/3. If you know why this is the case id be glad to get any info on it. Or maybe it has to do with a the crit mechanic? I dont know. Either way its about as strong a the strongest non-unforgivable spells while not even benefitting from gear traits like concentration (at least from what i can tell). This means you free up your gear to stack on even more damage (like with unforgivable or ambusher) or for defensive traits. You can indeed think of having to wait for the enemy as a cooldown. But i dont think that logic is sound. For once it would mean we would need to add in things like the time it takes to get into range or the time it takes to switch spell sets into other spells cooldown to be fair. Which you dont seem to do. The average large scale battle gives me at least two or three opportunities to do protego before i can get off a second accio cast. (if you can find battles that even last that long) Its not like you cant do anything else while you use protego+stupefy. I just love to do it exclusively for the cinematics of it. But protego slots into any other combo ou are running. It doesnt require a spellslot, allowing you to run a 5th damaging spell. It breaks all shields. Its always available. It gives insanely high damage without requiring any traits. It is both defensive and offensive. In my opinion that makes it easily stand above any other spell in the game. And easily is one (or two) of the highest value talent points.
@@TheVergile my biggest gripe with Protego as a whole (from a speedrunner perspective), is that it's utterly useless to go faster. Idk if you've seen my battle arena runs, but using Protego only makes you go slower. That said though, that's a niche comparison. In most cases Protego is a really good option.
@@PlayDohBear that makes sense. from a speedrun perspective - especially in battle arena - it probably doesnt help much, if at all. one could argue it would be beneficial for full game speedruns since every confrontation has a chance that you can instantly end it with a protego + a small combo for the elite enemy if present. but then again speedruns will probably avoid fighting as much as possible and just go for stealth + wingardium leviosa kills or something even weirder. there simply are too many tools that can universally break shields. unforgivable curses, physical collision damage, ancient magic, object throws… it would be hard to find an argument to use protego heavily over these options in arena speedruns. you would basically need to do challenge runs without ancient magic and unforgivables. and even then it could be argued that for speedrunning you would use all 4 spellsets for combat purposes and cooldowns arent as much of an issue since youll always have the correct shield breaker at hand.
One shots with depulso are easy with a combo of arresto momento &/ flippindo. Transfiguration+depulso= 2 instakills. Neither needs upgraded Glacius+diffindo will always do more damage especially airborne and close range where as bombarda misses often at close range. Accio+glacius+confringo= the most damage you can do. Nothing beats stormbrew+maxima pot+focus. Just spam glacius and watch everyone die to the storm. Unlike the combos above it doesn’t care if it is a big enemy or not. They’ll be taking 2.5-6k damage every second. The avada kadavra is boring and easy mode. Though using the curse strat with control/force spells for extra damage is mean and fun.
may i know the damage stat of the shockwave from decendo plz ? also if you take a duration of cc in to account , arrestto momentum has the longest cc time ( i dont test it yet just my feeling) about the combo i love using accio-->glacius--> incendio , so you got the fire aoe damage and the ice explosion then i finish off with bombarda which also has an aoe effect ,most of the time 3 enemies you pull with accio with just disappear.
Transfigure - Levioso - Depulso. Just so satisyfying to see an enemy turn into an explosive barrel and then you just toss them away to explode them. Works great for stealth, or just toss that barrel at an enemy during combat. 😁
Anyone have a list anywhere for the exploration traits? (traits that come out of chests, not earned) I assume there needs to be 25 different traits with 3 different tiers because there are 75 slots. However, I cannot seem to find more than 18 different traits anywhere.
@@PlayDohBear Yes. I know about the chests in the bandit camps. My question is about those traits. There's 75 slots for traits that come out of chests. The earned ones that are unlocked via challenges are in a different section. If there's 75 slots, I assume there's 25 traits, but I can only find 18. My concern is, because there's only 50 of those chests in the game, which means I'll miss out on 25 traits. Right now, I'm save scumming to ensure I get all the level III traits, but I have all the ones in the video already.
Depulso getting a bad rep here. If you're fighting on a castle or near any sort of valley or cliff (quite common in this game) you can just one shot regular mobs by yeeting them off the walls or down the gorge. They fly further if you cast levioso beforehand as well. Sure you don't get the loot from the bodies unless you go down and look for it, but it's fun.
You can just 1 shot mobs with any other spell too. It's just super niche in combat since you're not going to have a Castle, Cliff, Walls or Enemies lined up 24/7. Then you have enemy shields or heavy enemies that's gonna say NOPE to that real quick. If it works for you, for sure use it. Just is a waste of time in any situation for my personal playstyle. Like I said in the intro, these tier lists are highly personal to your own specific playstyle. I'm sure a lot of ppl rank a few of the spells I mentioned higher or lower.
@@joshthompson8506 No worries. I really did experiment with Depulso a lot prior to coming to my final decision. The amount of times I tried to set it up reasonably etc. and it just ended up being a waste of time.

One of my favorite combos I’ve been using lately is Accio -> Incendio -> Descendo. Pull an enemy towards you, set them ablaze, then slam them to the ground. Kills basic enemies quickly and is super satisfying
You can fit in 2 basic casts in between accio and incendio
Yeah i think before incendio use glacius. It damages more.
I actually use depulso in combat all the time to just instantly kill enemies. If you combine levioso and depulso while aiming upward, you can full send enemies off cliffs and other elevated things like towers, walls and hills to an instadeath by fall damage.
Maybe one day I'll come around to Depulso :p
Unfortunately falls were nerfed due to being able to make trolls run off cliffs.
@@Zorant0Zero From the present: fall damage is fine. It comes down to the distance the enemy is from the ground and 9/10 it usually kills. The patch only affected Trolls (which are already unaffected by Depulso and other movement based spells; you only get the brief window due to control).
I like Depulso a lot to get enemies away from me, since sometimes they just group up around you. Also it'a nice to sent them flying from a cliff lmao
Depulso isn't so bad when using it in confined spaces such as caves and hallways since enemies are more likely to hit walls which is where the real damage lies. That's where it really shines in my opinion as supposed to open fields where sometimes you knock your opponents just out of spell range
Pro tip: you can also switch spell wheels during the animation of the unforgivable curses
It's helped me a lot as I have kept all of them in separate wheels but at the same position
So i spam the 3 spells in the wheel, cast the unforgivable and change the set in animation. Doesn't make too much of a difference but helps to flawlessly deal damage
Very good tip
I've been obsessed with the transformation spell ever since I got it.
So satisfying to turn someone into and exploding barrel and then use it to one shot them and anyone else around

You don't even have to push them back. Just let the spell wear of and they'll usually die from the drop
@@silverjohn6037 Yeah, but sending them flying helplessly to the distance is sooooo satisfying
I just simple dodge roll out of the way while they're jumping at me. Just a muscle memory habit.
Each special is unique and OP in it's own way.
That's the beauty of this game.
Not really. Most of them have a great specific use but the tier list is right.

Thanks Luke!
Accio, Descendo, glacius, and finally incendio. This is probably one of my fav and best combos, and it almost always kills the enemy.
LOL I love the random switch to an Australian accent when saying Expelliarmus. Great video!
I love going through the feldcroft area and just launching enemies off cliffs with acio-levioso-depulso
Finally someone who gets that flipendo is actually good
That low cooldown :p
People only "get too strong" if they keep up with upgrading their gear.
On the one hand, this means "casual" players might get more satisfaction out of 4 spell combos.
On the other hand, this means the game might actually be more fun if you run around with no pants on.
I have a set of gear with no upgrades for this reason. Although the majority of players will of course upgrade for that power fantasy.
4 spell combos late game end up being more like setup combos than one you can use on a single enemy.

the harder hard mode mod makes the endgame less of a one shot city, good for keeping the combat fun after lvl 35
Yeah, will have to check this out at some point.
Great tier list but Depulso deserves more love, it’s just to use in specific situations (like you are up a cliff, the combo accio + depulso is instant kill for anyone) or in confined spaces
The plants are absolutely nuts to butts OP - stumbled across them like 20 hours in and proceeded to absolutely destroy anything in my path
Expelleliramus and ancient magic to hit them with their own weapon and it instant kills for me. My favorite thing to do
There will definitely be a mod at some point to make enemies scale better with the player. It would take away some of the sense of realism/the power trip of feeling like you’ve gotten so powerful that you’re 2-shotting everything, but tbh, I think the fun combos are way more rewarding and emphasize skill and creativity, which is what it means to be a true wizard.

Expel is pretty good early on for sure. I mean it's still good, just got amazing (imo).
@@AlldaylongRock shame we don't see those knights after the story. In the end game, just works on those goblins :(
My favorite combo is to Accio enemies towards me, slam them to the ground, freeze them when they bounce up off the ground, then Incendio for big pain.

My most favorite combo is random Avada Kedavra when flying over Troll lair

Honestly, depulso/flipendo are some of my favorite "leave me alone" spells right along with crucio lmao.
Ahahaha.
If you want to kill enemies in a fun way you can transform them into a barell make them fly and when they’re transformed they’ll die from falldamage
14:45 I thought about this when I first saw the mastery of focus potion. Haven’t tried it out in practice and I’m glad you reminded me of it 😂❤
Glad I could help!
I put laceration 3 on all my gear and upgraded my diffindo. Combined with a focus potion and the invisibility spell and you have a long range petrificus totalus weapon for basically anything except trolls and inferi, all from stealth.
Reparo is a great spell
The two times you use it
The only time I ever even use Depulso is during those Depulso puzzles, and also when throwing enemies over cliffs while in stealth mode whenever I get super frustrated with how goddamn SHORT ranged Petrificus Totalis is.
Obliviate or Confundo would have been great "light magic" alternatives to Imperio and Avada Kedavra.
The answer is in 15:48

In my opinion, Accio is the best spell in the game. I always have it in the first slot of every page because I use it in combat so often, nearly every puzzle requires it, and you can quickly grab a flying page if you see one.

@@thomasbroker69 I jokingly said at the end "Thank you for coming to my 2nd Ted Talk" lmao.
Fully upgraded armours with significantly higher mandrake attack literally broke the game.
I discovered accio comes in very handy on enemies when you are on a higher platform or cliffside.

I personally love using the unforgivables, Arresto Momentum, Flipendo, Expelliarmus and Diffindo. Running a Curse build is so satisfying 😵💫
My thoughts too I just apply a curse to everyone and one shot them all with AK, there’s so many ways to apply curses as well.

Depulso can actually help you out when enemies move fast and come in groups. Like Mongrels
Incendio's high damage but very short range make it's pretty hard for me to properly use, especially in boss fights.
It's main use people do is to accio multiple enemies into a 1 shot. Personally, I love to use dodge roll + swift to get in, blast incendio and then combo.

@@PlayDohBear wow thats cool. thanks!
@@DamianKnox11 It does not. Hopefully in the future.
Just use whatever you want to. Stack concentration traits and everything will hit hard.

I love using depolso to shove enemies into walls and insta kill
Expeliarmus deserves A tier because it does crazy damage to enemies with throwing their own weapons and curses them so while paired with unforgivable 3 it does tons of damage
I explain why it's not A tier. It's the lowest damage dealing spell and that talent is a gimmick (throwing enemy weapons).
Never heard someone misuse “a dime a dozen”

Great video but I don't know whether the game changed with patches but in my experience the later into the game the enemies survive more spells, not fewer.
While in the early game accio-incendio already killed everything later in the game even the trash-mobs survive that easily and only glacius-diffendo is a 2-hit combo that kills trash immediately.
The only exception is if drinking buff potions or making use of tier 3 traits on cloths etc.
id rank depulsi higher because you can push them off high places. it may suck because you have to go down to get the loot or can’ get it, but its really easy to get r8d of a powerful enemy
*depulso
If you transform an enemy and lift them super high with wingardium leviosa and drop them, theyll instantly die
the real SSS skill that outshines them all is protego tho.
its basically the only one i really use anymore for 99% of enemies.
(if you can find battles that even last that long)
Its not like you cant do anything else while you use protego+stupefy.
@@PlayDohBear that makes sense. from a speedrun perspective - especially in battle arena - it probably doesnt help much, if at all.
one could argue it would be beneficial for full game speedruns since every confrontation has a chance that you can instantly end it with a protego + a small combo for the elite enemy if present. but then again speedruns will probably avoid fighting as much as possible and just go for stealth + wingardium leviosa kills or something even weirder.
there simply are too many tools that can universally break shields. unforgivable curses, physical collision damage, ancient magic, object throws…
it would be hard to find an argument to use protego heavily over these options in arena speedruns.
you would basically need to do challenge runs without ancient magic and unforgivables. and even then it could be argued that for speedrunning you would use all 4 spellsets for combat purposes and cooldowns arent as much of an issue since youll always have the correct shield breaker at hand.
One shots with depulso are easy with a combo of arresto momento &/ flippindo.
Transfiguration+depulso= 2 instakills. Neither needs upgraded
Glacius+diffindo will always do more damage especially airborne and close range where as bombarda misses often at close range.
Accio-descendo-glacio-incendio
Absolutley brutal death when you think about it. Mortal kombat worthy
Too bad everything dies to Accio/Descendo (for enemies that can be accio'd) in the late game. RIP satisfying combos.
@@PlayDohBear I stopped using descendo like that bc it would end my combos hella quick 🤦🏽♂️ game at its best when juggling enemies constantly
@@Renkyori I know right :(
Accio = GET OVER HERE!!
16:47, the troll was warming up
I personally like that lumos and WL were in C for cheese. Depulso is in its own tier... D for depulso.
who knew that utility spells would be so useful in combat haha
Depulso kills enemies that have been transformed, even if you don't have transformation mastery.
Going full Gravity Gun with Wingardium Leviosa
may i know the damage stat of the shockwave from decendo plz ?
also if you take a duration of cc in to account , arrestto momentum has the longest cc time ( i dont test it yet just my feeling)
about the combo i love using accio-->glacius--> incendio , so you got the fire aoe damage and the ice explosion then i finish off with bombarda which also has an aoe effect ,most of the time 3 enemies you pull with accio with just disappear.
I cover this in the Talents video. The video is recently uploaded and on my Channel. You'll find the damage number there :)
Transfiguration is my favorite. Then Imperio and the murder death fun time spell
Transfigure - Levioso - Depulso. Just so satisyfying to see an enemy turn into an explosive barrel and then you just toss them away to explode them. Works great for stealth, or just toss that barrel at an enemy during combat. 😁
Besides, you're saying it's wrong. It's Wingardium Leviosa, not Leviosooo... :D
Very cool video Plato
Thanks Brick!
Anyone have a list anywhere for the exploration traits? (traits that come out of chests, not earned)
I assume there needs to be 25 different traits with 3 different tiers because there are 75 slots.
However, I cannot seem to find more than 18 different traits anywhere.
They're all in Bandit camps for the ones not unlocked via Challenges. Bandit camps are all over the map and won't pop up until you are near them.
@@henryhahn77 I have them all Henry. They're all available if you explore around the game and find those camps.
@@PlayDohBear Fair enough. Thanks for the detailed response!
@@joshthompson8506 No worries. I really did experiment with Depulso a lot prior to coming to my final decision. The amount of times I tried to set it up reasonably etc. and it just ended up being a waste of time.
Why do you’re spell cooldowns only last a couple seconds?
I'm using the focus potion so I could display the skills for the video.
Transfiguration spell is INSANE (only when upgraded tho)
6:55 Damn at first that looked to deal a hell a lot more dmg then it did.
Satisfying setup and kill for sure haha.
