Vitamin B12 absorption is complex, primarily sourced from meat, and involves several bodily processes. It begins in the stomach where hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor are secreted, allowing B12 to detach from meat and bind to haptochorin for transport to the small intestine.
Conditions like H. pylori infection, gastric bypass, and autoimmune diseases can hinder absorption, leading to deficiencies, especially in those on plant-based diets. Regular monitoring of B12 levels is crucial for at-risk individuals, as deficiencies can cause significant health issues over time.

TY for this information. I have tested positive for h. Pylori, do you have any videos on this subject? It is very low (barely detectable) but I since having covid, I have been experiencing many GI issues-ran tests and that’s how I found out I have it. Treating with herbs but would love more info on how you would treat it and if you think I will have to treat for the rest of my life. TIA!

I bypass absorption in the stomach/intestine using sublingual B12 where it's absorbed under the tongue into the veins underneath and directly into the bloodstream.😅 😊

Hi! I have had my B12 checked in past 2 yrs and it was super high? Could that mean it isn’t getting into the cell floating around Willy nilly? Was 2000 H. I am now taking a methylated B12 as I had a MHTFR test and had that mutated gene. I tested positive a yr ago for SIBO so maybe thats why any b12 I have cant get digested? On top of the MHTFR. I am 64 and determined to get gut in order!

If i could morally bring myself to eat dead animals after 60 years of not eating flesh, how could i make the enzyme? Carnivore diet is undigestable for me...3 days to get through & that was up until i was 13 & stopped...i usually give myself two IM hydroxocobalamin inj a week. Is it enough for MECFS as well please?
    🙏

Could Betaine Hydrochloride possibly help? It helps increase stomach acid levels and aid initial meat digestion. It may have side-effects of course.

Brilliant explanation Peter. I'm 64 & have always had "issues" with my blood such as Macrocytic Anaemia and feeling "wishy-washy" (as we say here in the UK!)
Now that I've learned (off the Internet...not from my GP) what I've been missing all these years I eat much more Red meat now...but I also have (unstatinised!) high LDL cholesterol. And the medical profession here still say steer clear of saturated fats and Red meats. Confused...moi?!?

Cholesterol is used by your body for repairs.
If you don't eat enough cholesterol, your body must make it.
