Name a fish "redd" and I'll jump into my pool
Every time you do a water change, do you already have conditioned water prepped in advance waiting?
How do you stop the tank from getting green water? I don't want to use snails or pleco either since you said in one of your videos that they add more problems than solve. Thanks in advance mate!
The beginning “doesn’t look to bad either” lmao 😂
Well it’s true.. 😉
too* 🤓🤓🤓
I'm a guy and I have to say this guy is the real deal lmao
He aint lying
@@mitsuri3096 yo?
Hi luke, did you make sure that the 2 goldfish who played their part in the video were paid at least 1 pellet each? Goldfish underpayment has been too big of an issue in the US for the last few years
I payed them 🫡
glad someone is tackling this issue head on! 👏
Yes very good but did you pay taxes?
@@jacobschmelzer4203 why pay taxes when you can instead pay your goldfishes more
@@shackleDev I meant his goldfish taxes that go into upgrading their houses and giving them luxury food
This is going to greatly improve my deck pond and make it so much healthier for my fish. I've learned so much from your videos and my goldfish Popi, Olive, Pluto and Blimpy seriously thank you.
Great video! You do not need to buy a huge glass aquarium to keep fancy goldfish! Hope this gets ppl in the hobby
Great video! I was actually brainstorming something like this but you did it even simpler than what I had in mind 😂👏 good job
Glad you liked it!!
Going for this temporarily to save for acrylic tank so I can have my baby cow companions, Thank you
We recently bought a few of those tubs for storage use and I actually thought they might make for a good indoor pond for fancy goldfish 😆
Another perk to them is they're dark in color which helps the brightly colored goldfish stand out more
Fish tanks are expensive, but i never knew there were other ideas!
Im happy to see someone cares about fish :) most people take bad care
With a slight increase in cost, you can add airstones inside the sponge filters so that the bubbles can be more fine instead of large bubbles. If you try this setup inside I’d recommend it if you want to reduce the noise.👍
How do you add it inside the filter?
@@lucasye9107 there are videos of how to add an air stone to a sponge filter. It’s very simple mod but helps a lot.
I'm so incredibly grateful to you for showing how to do this without it just being something I can only dream of having! I'm a mom of 3 and I have to budget every cent so thx so much for this much needed info!🐟🐠
You were right Luke! I transferred my betta tank from a off the back filter to a sponge filter. And oh my gosh I have never seen my fish so happy. He has more air to breathe and the water is so crystal clear. I am never going back. He deserves the best
Ty for the guide! Someday in the near future I hope I can get a chunky orange nuggie myself, but still this was extremely helpful :D
Excellent advice & video Luke Sir.
I've just one recommendation you mentioned the use of check valves on each outlet of the airpump for safety reasons especially as you're pump is below the water level of the tub. Thank you for sharing.
👍👍👍
Hi Luke i've been getting into Fish and I got my first tank setup and a fish this really helped me plan out my next tank upgrades!
Great Video! I might be getting fancy goldfish soon and this setup really helped. Thanks!
I bought the same tub and have one goldfish in it for now with a couple of others waiting to go in. I went with a Matten sponge filter across one end of the tub with a small pump pumping the water to the other end. I also added a lot of floating plants to help clean the water. I have the setup in my little greenhouse attached to my home.
I've been waiting for a video like this for a long time, thanks for making this
Very precise, straight to the point and helpful. 👍
Nice I was looking to buy some of your minichads Now I have a way to keep them.
nice luke! thanks for the informative vid! might get a fish, this helped alot !
Glad you liked it!!
than you so much very informative!!!! Loved it
Cool! I have a goldfish that’s lived for nearly 4 years bruh, in the future I might use this build!
That’s awesome!!
Hi Luke. I just realized that its expensive in the US to set up a tank. While here in the ph. You could get a 30g tank with a full set up! That includes pump, aerator, sump filter and a stand for just 100$
Inflation here is increasing prices too!
lucky i think i spent three times that (or more) for a 29g setup a few months ago
Add check values to every airline going to the air pump. Not using check valves is a fire hazard. For a quieter setup use air stones in your sponge filter. You can find videos on UA-cam on how put the air stones in.
I've got a 80 gallon pond with a 119 gallon filter, a 93 gal inside spongefilter topped up with a 40 gallon hang on back 😅🙈 I've had val growing in there but unfortunatly I had to take out the substrate because my goldies kept getting sick. I've bought some 100 euro fish recently and I dont want to risk it. However, having a indoor pond instead of a aquarium sure as hell is a stress relief of some kind. Better waterquality due to the size and I dont have to worry about scraping allgea off the glass. Whenever I come up to the pond they all swim up to say hi. It's amazing! And I do believe more filtration is better. Even with all the filters I have running now I still do insane amounts of maintainance and I only have 10 small ones in there 😅
I have never thought about just going to Home Depot to buy the “tank” 😱 I… I might do that next year 😂 If it fits in my room though
I suggest looking on second hand marketplaces for fishtanks, you can usually find a good one for 20 bucks or so
"The best stimulation is a friend"😏😏
Wow a new awesome video with the goldfish guy
Thanks for watching!
dont forget some check valves for your airline tubing! it saves my ass whenever i have a power outage.
I love it how you say little chicken nuggets plus I love your videos!
Cool! I’m glad your back man!

You forgot one thing: for those in a cooler or temperate climate, you need a heater. I keep my goldfish tank at 74 F all year round. A tolerable temperature to survive does not necessarily mean they are thriving. The conditions a goldfish or any fish for that matter is exposed to will ultimately effect their lifespan. It's like if you get in the shower and there's no hot water. It functions, but you're not going to be happy or comfortable. You need a hot shower. Just like with goldfish, they prefer a nice medium happy temperature. Luke, I'm thinking because your aquariums and tubs are all in a green house, green houses get very warm in the day time with the sun on them. I don't think you get too cold of a winter compared to where I'm from in cape breton. I'm thinking this is why you haven't mentioned using heaters. But for cold places up North, I definitely recommend any goldfish keepers to keep a heater in their aquariums and tubs 100%. I had to say it. Goldfish are supposed to live for 15+ years. If your pet doesn't make it that long there must be a good reason for it.
Are regular aquarium heaters ok to use in the plastic totes? I'm worried about it melting/damaging the plastic
@@scottboyden249 I have no problem using heaters in totes or buckets. Just use the suction cups that come with it.
as a person who doesnt keep cold water fish i might start up a tub tank thx luke
Luke, you're really a addicted sponge filter guy ya 😅👍🏼
4:42 100% Theres just so many dang plugs in fish keepin
I’ve finally decided I wanna tackle this project!! Do you think the sponge filters and air pump would work good with maybe a 10 or 20 gal tank and some substrate and plants? I’m thinking about that kind of set up
10 gallons is definitely too small for goldfish, 20 is okay for one but goldfish like to have friends so i really consider 30 gallons the minimum in my opinion and experience. if you only have the option of a smaller tank i can recommend some other fish for you :) i wish you luck in this hobby, it’s really fun once you learn it and get into it
Thanks verry helpfull
I want to do something similar but with a 300 gallon stock tank. Probably use a trashcan as the filter
thank u mr luke
Can you do a 200 Dollar Budget?
recommend adding anti-siphon valves to all the airlines.
If you go to home depot and all the same other brand stores, manards or wherever. And look far and wide you'll find bigger better touts, I found a 50 gallon one that seems pretty rugged and 40$
yess i have a 40 gallon one i used momentarily while moving house (kept my fish in there while i set up the tank in the span of 2 days) though im not sure how well it would do in the long term, it was bowing pretty bad on the long sides, would be best to try to stabilize it with a frame or something
It's been too long since I've watched one of your videos, your out door set up is beautiful 😍😍😍
Have you thought of building a sump for your larger tanks?
4:47 he didn't use check valves and put that air pump on the ground . Never ever do that because when you'll turn off that pump water will drain from the tank in your pump through those pipes and it will damage your pump , that's why you must use check valves and if you don't wanna use check valves than simply put that pump above somewhere , atleast somewhere above the water surface , maybe a desk or something .
Hey! Great video! I’m curious how many gallons the tote or container you choose needs to be for this setup? Thanks!
For fancies I think it’s 20 gallons a fish, for commets it’s like 40 I think
Awesome
I honestly would like to make this same setup. Simple and healthy for a fishy
Are there any water heaters that would be safe to use with the plastic tote?
I have been using sponge filter for 18 years I have a small fish house I use totes on for tanks with a bulk of head fitting and a stand pipe to on control the water level I on have it devided into three systems two systems are two 100 gallon rubber to maid tubes with a home made filter consisting of a five gallon bucket with holes in the bottom the bucket is filled with bio balls and topped with a pond filter pad this sits in another tote the water is recirculating by a 900 gallon a hour pond master pump to 10 totes the third system is the same as the other two but has a 70 gallon rubber maid tub and 5 totes the sponge filter are also stackable
Hello I have a question would I need four sponge filters if I get a small glass tank like the ones you have?
you know this is a great channel when this vid only has 1 dislike and 2.2k likes
The link doesn’t bring up the filters shown in video, are they the same? Thanks for the video.
I like the Broccoli part hes so sad becauce it fall
Would the same work with an actual tank as well or is it just for the bin?
Nice ghetto setup 😄
I have an air pump with the small plastic line but it makes to much noise should I buy a sponge filter to become less noisy?
Wait, Luke. You said 40 gallons for 2 goldfish. Is this set up for two juveniles and just one adult?
If this is placed on the floor, will water changes still be the same? I had the impression usually the tub /tank has to be higher for it to flow down.
I want to buy the pawfly.. air pump is okay to use for a 29 gallon tank?
do you have an golfish upkeep video?
Only few people know that this fish is a descendant of large 4 feet toi fish with dwarfism and bent spine 😢😢
Hey Luke I see your air pump is on the ground lower than the tank water line. Is having it lower okay?
Luuuke. Hows that air pump in terms of noise?
Can I use Vetiver plant in my Aquarium for reducing water TDS???
How much sponge filters would i need for a 38 gallon bin
Would it be possible to use a clear storage bin to allow you to see the goldfish?
Yes, actually. Just make sure that its strong though.
hi luke
How many sponge filters should I get?
Hey Luke, hope your still active in these comments, how loud are these tanks?
Hi Luke, is it possible to feed the fries with pellets and raise them without including any live feed at all???
You can't get pellets tiny enough to feed fry. Even if you could, live food is much more nutritious
Wow
One could splurge on a clear plastic bin potentially if it’s in one’s budget.
Tubby Tobey update please
Is epsom salt baths safe for fry
Do I need sand in the storage?
If you want six Goldfish in a tank how many gallons are needed? Also are Lion head, Rancho, Oranda, pearlscale and Ryukin live together happily?
He has a video on this. Short answer: as long as they can move around freely and you keep your water very clean, it doesn't matter. However, the less water, the more tank maintenance you will have to do
Could you use a clear plastic tote
probably, just check it by filling it with water outside for 24-48 hours to make sure it doesn’t leak/burst. also i’m not sure if they make clear tubs of 30 gallons or larger
Luke about goldfish. Why do sometimes my goldfish go up the tank for a second and acts normal again after that they just like gasping for air but all may filter are on.
having own fishes.... snails, SNAIL EVERYWHERE!!!
I don't have a greenhouse or anywhere to put them inside!Where should I put the setup?
Do goldfish like water flow/current?
I got a 55 gallon tote top bin from home depot to try, but I left outside with some water to see if it would hold. It was bulging at the seams within 24 hours and probably would have exploded within a week. Is there a certain size where they are unable to hold water?
Add a bit of wood framing around your bin to keep it from bulging and it will work fine.
About water change, how much i need to do in one week?
Still reminds me of Joel Hansen the champ eater!!!! You should do a video with him yall even sound alike!!!!!
Luke my orange goldfish is turning black what should I do???
For more than 8 years I've had fish but never a goldfish and I don't know where to sell them in Mexico
Too bad you don't ship to Mexico 😢
Just buy one from a pet store
Hello again how big would the glass tank need to be for one gold fish
30-40 gallon preferably for a fancy goldfish for a common/comet 55-75 gallon a smaller fancy could do well in a 20 long or 29 for a while
What for water at 4:22
Also do you work at a Costco by any chance
i have 4 fish tanks and 101 tropical fish and im terrified of getting goldfish lol 😅
goldfish seem to be a lot hardier than a lot of tropical species in my experience, the only issues with them is their size and filtration/water change requirements
can anyone recommend cheap 55 gallon tanks or a good substitute, nothing that has to sit in the floor (preferably a lid to avoid jumpers and cat fishing) and side view; i’ll probably not be able to actually own a goldfish for 4+ years but mostly curious
Best bet is to actually wait for petco to do their "a dollar a gallon" tank sale they do every year. I don't remember when they do it, but you can get tanks for really cheap.
You could always get a transparent plastic tub
How many ranches can u have in this set up??
Would it be possible to use a clear storage container? I believe they make them even in a larger size.
Also, I have an already cycled goldfish tank and would like to add sponge filters, how should I go about making sure I have beneficial bacteria in the sponges? Thanks!
Love your setup btw you got me back into the hobby
Can it be a clear tub
Gold fish = Aquatic chicken nuggets🥴🥴
