Man I was always a Chevy/GMC owner. I switched to a 2014 Ram 2500 diesel 10 years ago and I do really like it. But, I miss how smooth and comfortable the GM's were. The Ram is close but not quite. I have only had to replace the front passenger's side u-joint and the radio. Sad how much these new trucks cost for what you get.
@@JoshuaOverman I’m sure you are definitely correct! But with a ford dealership a mile away from my shop and my fleet of fords never failing me I’m gunna get a powerstroke to replace it for sure
Yeah. I find modern vehicle design to be very frustrating. Ive had more friends complain about electrical issues with their plows tripping built in safe guards. As far as GM, i dont quite know what to think. I think all brands are about the same with issues. I think GM has a long track record of not very good paint and rusting issues. Our 2000 F150 was abused harder than our 04 duramax. The duramax flaked paint in the most random places and had to have the cab corners and rockers replaced after about 10 years. We have a 13 gmc 2500 gasser. Its has been less problematic, the paint has held up mostly better, and it's a much beefier truck than 04. This past fall it still had to have the paint behind the rear tires replaced, we decided to bed liner it. The tailgate needed to be repainted. The fenders were repaired at the wheel arches. The cab still looks good. The frame did have surface rust, so we had that cleaned up and shot with bed liner also. We're hoping to keep this 13 alive for a while. The current price of vehicles does not match the wuality of the vehicles imo.
I sold my 21 Duramax after 10 months. Same issue you described with the screen being non-responsive, and other electrical issues. 17-19 Duramax L5P had plenty of power, proven 6 speed Allison, and the interior was better quality.
From what ive seen and have heard, alot of these new trucks 2019 and up are having alot of issues. im a ram/chevy guy, i wont own another ford. but all 3 big brands are having alot of issues within the last 5 years. no way in hell i buy any of them, not to mention theyre way over priced. my 2012 lml 260k miles, very little problems even still has the original CP4. my 3 dodges range from 215k-360k miles and i run them hard, they never let me down. every brand has good and bad years, but i think theyre all having bad years.
2016 Isuzu NQR diesel 17 995GW crew cab overloaded every day 50,000 miles no issues I just did brakes that still had 30% left I changed diff oil trans oil see you at 100,000 sorry it can not plow it’s a maintenance truck that does not need a back up
i have a 2020 gmc 2500 denali duramax with 92k on it , so far the only thing thats let me down is the right mirror wont power fold.. i work at a body shop and know the cost of one of the mirrors and im hoping it will come back to life lol.. before paying for a new motor for that window take the panel off and make sure the window didnt jump the run channel rubber.
Covid f350, 7.3 gas 4.30rear 2020year , check engine light three times , dashboard screen flashes for 30 minutes every time you start to drive it pain in the ass at night time , when you sit at a traffic light it pulls so hard at idle you have to stand on the brake with 2 feet , it’s been to the dealer three times and the mileage on it is 1840 oh I forgot to tell you the steering is so heavy. It feels like it has no power steering driving around town or parking. They mentioned I don’t drive it much I replied I hate it. I’d rather drive my 2015 Ford with coffee stains everywhere rust but it’s drivable
I had a 2020 Ram 2500 Cummins and the first year it was OK but the 2nd year it was a disaster, I had 35.000K on it and the 3rd year it was in the shop 90+ days all over DPF and regening all the time I was pouring about as much DEF in it as diesel it was under Warranty for what's that worth>> Nothing!! I couldn't delete it because where I live I just traded it in and sold my Fifth Wheel and stated Hoteling it.
I had many duramax the last was a 14. I new it was a head gasket problem. Dealer worked on it said no its fine. Traded for an 18 s duty. Dealer sold the duramax and 2 weeks later blown head gasket. The had to eat it. LBZ was the best d max
Actually L5P is best duramax lbzs still broke cranks and had some issues but L5P is the first duramax that is actually 100% solid it’s the best yet by far this guy just has a lemon. Same way my 2003 gmc 2500hd was a lemon and had so many issues early on
In an earlier video, you stated you are having transmission issues with one of your 550s. If I recall, one has had metal shavings, and one hesitates. After working for a large contractor with over 100 Ford pickups, F-150's-750, I am thankful I was given one, so I know never to buy one! 6.7 Issues; Injection pump failures, turbo failures, cracked manifolds, head gaskets, endless EGR issues. Gas engines are IMO not any more reliable. 7.3 Godzillas are notorious for metal shavings and misfires; ECO boosts chew through timing chains and/or tensioners, and numerous turbo failures. 6.2-6.8 Gas has had numerous fuel delivery issues and/or electrical issues. Almost all have had similar issues to your Sierra in terms of electrical issues. Many have had transmission issues. Other landscapers on UA-cam have had electrical issues and mechanical issues with their newer F-series pickups. GM truck wax-coated frames are a joke; I will give you that. I will not say that GM is perfect, but Ford certainly is not! Post 2020, every manufacturer's quality has gone downhill, yet prices are through the roof.
Yes for sure they all got issues. Thank you for all that information too u know a lot more than me for sure. My 19 550 had shavings in the fluid yes but is still going strong with 108k. The new 22 550 has a hesitation issue and has still not been fixed. But all the powerstrokes engines I have are strong with no issues. Also never had electrical issues with my fords.
@@tandtlandscapeandmasonry Don't sell yourself short! I'm sure if I worked for a company with 100 GM trucks I'd have similar stories. I'm a firm believer, build quality of any manufacturer has gone way downhill!
I had 2020 Silverado 3500. I had the lights flashing when my trailer was plugged in when not running. And the radio issues. Beside a tail light going bad. $1100.00 for a taillight and I did the work. Other problems never fixed. Had it 4 years. Traded it in. Someone else’s problem now.
Dealer never did find the problem on lights or radio. Was told just disconnect battery cables for 20 minutes and radio would reset. Blamed all 5 trailers I tow for lights flash when shit off
The lights flashing is literally a security feature that can be disabled in the options. I see so many people complaining about this not knowing that it's just a setting.
Hey t and t i don't have a gmc DUrrrrtymax because i got a dodge ram it only had a fuel pump that whent bad now it is working again keep up the great work
It’s really not that complicated or more electronics then 20 years ago. They offered heated seats memory seats and fancy stuff 20 years ago and they have only improved the components since then
It need a head gasket? we'll it's really good that GM has a 100K warranty on all their Diesels. It would have sucked if you had the gas motor in it. Those warranty's are only good till 60K.
Wrong. The new 6.7s are great I know people with over 200k miles zero issues when you make millions of trucks some will have issues but most are great.
I wouldn't put a dime into it , trade it in . I was a gm technician out of school, became a landscape contractor 29 years ago . I started with fords and i will end with fords . Fords do hold up better for corrosion, they epoxy coat frames, but with the amount of snow and ice removal you do i would fluid film your frames. Fords weak point is 2 transmission lines beside oil pan . Clean and fluid film during oil change, lines are mounted together and corrode. 2015 and up ford 6.7 are the best diesel engine in my opinion.
