- We fished Canim lake and found some nice lake trout during our week long vacation. Fish were found in many areas of the lake and we were excited to be able to connect with a few fish during the week. In this video, we show you some of the fish we caught and teach you about how to catch lake trout. We also talk about conservation of the species and show you tools and techniques we use to ensure the future of this amazing species.

Could you tell more about your boat set up , like size of your boat ,how you have your downrigger hooked up and how you fish standing up all the time. Anyways keep up the good work
I'm glad you like my content. There will be more coming out soon. I've been busy with house renos lately.
My boat is a 14ft Lund WC. I love it, but it's slowly getting too small for our growing family. I have the downriggers mounted with Scotty Fishing Products. I use a 6 inch pedestal riser, then a Scotty swivel base. From there, I use Scotty 1085 manual downriggers which have been great workhorses. Recently, I used my downriggers and was able to double stack with them which I believe helped us catch more fish.
As for standing up, it's a great layout for that. I haven't fallen out of my boat yet because it's stable and I'm always watching for large wakes of other boats and knarly waves. And of course, I love wearing my life jacket just in case I do fall out.

How do you freeze your char? I've tried it and I'm not a fan. I like fresh char better.

Char I Freeze in the 2 litre milk cartons with water keeps it fresh its better smoked than sockeye I find
Biggest one this year wad 31" 12 lbs
I grew up with my family freezing walleye fillets in cardboard milk containers fill with fillets adding a little clean water....freezes like a block 2ith no freezer burn for years....
I'll have to try that one day.

I'm glad you liked it. There's some good fish in Canim. Wish I would have filmed more. We caught a lot of fish off camera and the average size was decent. Should been some good breeders in the lake to keep the fishery going as long as people let the big ones go.

We fish all different depths depending on the time of the year. We mark most fish around 60 and 80ft, but have also caught fish in as shallow as 40ft and as deep as 200ft. In this video, we were fishing the bottom.

It was a good week of fishing. We caught many more fish that week and I'm really wishing we filmed more. We even caught some burbot open water jigging.
