Ms. Khan's voice makes my heart ache. This song is beautifully emotional.

She is not trying to sound like Karen, it's just a tribute, calm yourselves down. If you guys see her others covers, you will notice that the covers she choose gain a haunting version, completely different from the original song, which makes me like her even more. I love the way she incorporates drama to her voice and melody with synths, it is just so beautiful.
This is probably the best cover I’ve heard in a very long while, her slowed down version, the arrangement of the musical instrument with the background input, very emotional and hauntingly good, her voice is amazing, she did Karen proud with this original take on such an iconic song, loved it.
I believe this was originally written by Paul Williams as a bank advertisement - Richard Carpenter asked if he and Karen could record it - the result - perfection! This version by Natasha - absolutely gorgeous - not a cover - just a beautiful interpretation of a beautiful song Well done Paul, well done Karen and well done Natasha..
I'm normally an original version kind of of guy, as covers are often unoriginal or even bizarre, but this is gorgeous, and haunting. Well done Bat For Lashes!
I know I'm a few years late, but I like this a lot(for what it's worth). An interesting choice for a cover, and I like the rather haunting take on it. The sparse arrangement and the added reverb or natural reverb of the auditorium (or both) add to that feel. Yet, it retains just enough of the Carpenters' version. Very Cool Indeed.
Can we just appreciate how she used her talents to make a modern artistic version of Karen Carpenter's song? Im not a fan of modern songs too, but i say that this is art.
wow Natasha...this is such an original, fresh, gorgeous and heartfelt interpretation of this classic song...I'm sure Karen and Richard would approve...thank you for sharing.
A heart-wrenching tribute to Karen Carpenter when you consider that she died suddenly from cardiac arrest caused by her anorexia in the morning on the day she was scheduled to sign her divorce papers. She had a very brief marriage to a cad. All she really wanted was to have a family of her own. Her parents thought that psychiatrists were only for crazy people and she grew up with this stigma. PLEASE emotionally support people in need of professional help so we can erase the stigma that still surrounds mental health and save lives.
I remember all that from my childhood. 😢 I was a huge fan. It was truly heartbreaking and this song, this version/cover, really brings it home. Beautiful yet brutal. A bullet with butterfly wings.
A devastatingly poignant and beautiful cover. At Manchester, she jokingly introduced it by saying she and her tour band had entertained hopes of becoming a "bad wedding band, singing Lionel Ritchie covers, but failing that, here's something else for you..."
I went to London last year in a coach, the coach went all the way from Germany for around 18 hours. Because there was a protest and I was in traffic jam inside London before the coach arrived at Victoria coach station. Plug my headphone into the coach's radio, Natasha was on radio for her latest release, she sang this very song on the radio. One of the most memorable scene of my entire journey, as I travelled all the way from Hong Kong.
I think this was performed in Los Angeles, and if so, I was there. Trust me when I say it's just as beautiful live as you'd imagine, potentially more powerful within the context of the entire show and concept. This and Laura were probably my favorite songs from that night. ***Side note. Lana Del Rey was in attendance.
As covers go this is probably the best, her voice is amazing, I’m sure Karen would be proud if she was with us today. The arrangement of the music, including the background takes, awesome, emotionally effective even for the hardest of men, silky haunting vocals, slow down version of such a classic song.
This song brings back so many memories ... it was the "theme song" of the Freshman year in college, and this is the a wonderful cover of Karen Carpenter's original.
I like this. It’s a different take, using unusual and unexpected chord progressions and there’s nothing wrong with that. No sacred cows in publicly available music, IMO.
It's different, I'll give it that. Perhaps it's not what I thought it was going to be, but at least this introduces people to a beautiful song, and maybe a great brother-sister duo from Downey who made us feel all the things we're too afraid to feel out loud.
Nobody wants to hear a cover that tries to sound like the original, especially a Karen Carpenter perfection! This doesn’t sound anything like KC thankfully but is every bit as beautiful and unique, from the stunning vocal talent of Laura & BFL x

Was going to state the same thing!
Great version, your comments are spot on.
Well said , she put her emotions into it not KC’s ... that’s the whole point of covers x
The Carpenters covered this song btw. The original version was used on a Crocker Bank commercial in 1970. ua-cam.com/video/97X9huy7pHQ/v-deo.html
Absolutely correct.
A song full of hope. What the world needs right now

This is a most beautiful arrangement, so haunting, what a voice, she has, sent me into dreamland, would love to see this band.
Nope
Wow! Such a lovely voice. Karen would be proud.
Karen would haunt her

nice to hear a competent and charismatic singer finally approach the original vocalists' outstanding contralto.
The music is stunning as is her voice... Incredible tribute. Haunting :-)
Nah
A total lesson in how to sing a song that was already beautifully sung...
This song really makes me cry ,I'm an ex addict.its like ive be born again.all emotional flowing back.piece by piece .
I'm normally an original version kind of of guy, as covers are often unoriginal or even bizarre, but this is gorgeous, and haunting. Well done Bat For Lashes!
Lousy cover
Literally goosebumps on top of goosebumps. Karen’s voice was like no other and this is the closest I’ve heard in a very long long time xxx
Thank you 🙏
I seriously had Karen Carpenter flashbacks...the hair, the dress, and then Natasha puts her vocal touch to this evergreen classic....such 😘😘😘❤❤❤
While watching this my mind totally got empty from everything else, I was just blown away by this awesome version

Loved the little chord change twists and really enjoyed the vocal stylings. Beautiful music is timeless.
She ruined the song
One of the most haunting covers!! This is amazing. Natasha you stole my heart.I love the Carpenters and this is everything.

this song fit so well in the concept of the album
João Neto It's a great pity that it's not on the album.

Griffin Just say no to narcisssists. Unfortunately Karen didn’t have a choice, being caught between her brother and. her mother. :(
I remember all that from my childhood. 😢 I was a huge fan. It was truly heartbreaking and this song, this version/cover, really brings it home. Beautiful yet brutal. A bullet with butterfly wings.
This was beautiful live at Union Chapel, so pleased that this has been released! Amazing performance & night x
Hauntingly beautifully done..I like this version 👍👍
A devastatingly poignant and beautiful cover. At Manchester, she jokingly introduced it by saying she and her tour band had entertained hopes of becoming a "bad wedding band, singing Lionel Ritchie covers, but failing that, here's something else for you..."
Really beautiful... music is meant to get a reaction...xxx
I would of buckled at the knees when she hits those last notes
Mum,dad we just begun to bond after all these years .I'm clean from that junk.thanks for being there ,love you both so much
I'm so happy and sad at the same time. I'm really enjoying this BFL's era.
A very talented singer. I love this song and her singing style.
Such a good song, done so bloody well, stand proud y'all!
Both beautiful things: Carpenters and Natasha... Means a lot
Beautiful rendition.
And that haunting effect playing the bass with a bow!

Soooo soothing like a lullaby....
So beautiful and special ❤
Truly beautiful ❤

Very well sung and very etherial, and haunting ,like a dream
Este grupo es maravilloso , solo ellos podían sacar un cover tan íntimo y melancólico , impecable ...
So beautiful
Very dreamy, I love it

Absolutely Stunning 💖💞💖
What a lovely, haunting rendition.
Wow, great interpretation of that song. Bravo!
I Loooove her voice! Bat For Lashes Girl!
You have just blown me away, fantastic
This made me cry what a voice beautiful .
I like this. It’s a different take, using unusual and unexpected chord progressions and there’s nothing wrong with that. No sacred cows in publicly available music, IMO.
I hope this is the last song on the new album. Really fits as a kind of farewell "epilogue" to "The Bride".
It's not on the album, unfortunately. Hopefully she'll release a live album from the tour, though.
Oh I love it. The slight key change liberties really land.
Excellent cover
Amazing song...
The original is for people who are currently still in love. This version is for people who lost that love.
FABULOSO, ESPECTACULAR, LO MAS MARAVILLOZO QUE HE ESCUCHADO EN HONOR DE CARPENTERS
QUE INSPIRACION
Absolutely amazing voice
It's different, I'll give it that. Perhaps it's not what I thought it was going to be, but at least this introduces people to a beautiful song, and maybe a great brother-sister duo from Downey who made us feel all the things we're too afraid to feel out loud.
Wow...just wow ❤❤❤
Love the bass interplay...
Beautiful
Love that its not overdone adds sadness to the song. Its almost like a reminscence instead of hopefulness that was the original rendition
Absolutely Amazing Natasha!
Beautiful, totally haunting
Wow! Great.
Stunning
Just lovely
belíssima interpretação.
I agree with paul this is beautiful ❤
this is so perfect
Absolutely stunning. Far better than the original, imo. Wow.
God that’s beautiful
Bat For Lashes in my Heart.
