- Had such a wonderful time performing for Jim Caruso’s “Cast Party” at Crooners Supper Club on 4/12/24! I sang “Yesterday Once More,” with Billy Stritch on piano.
This was my first time performing in front of an audience since I was a kid, but when Jim Caruso told me “Cast Party” was coming to town, I knew I had to do it. Needless to say, it wasn’t perfect, but it’s a start!
Thank you to Jim, Billy, and everyone who cheered me on that night.

@@PennyShreve And, of course, Julia and Cliff Barnes were the Canadian brother and sister duo producers of The Poppy Family, which was the Canadian version of The Carpenters consisting of brother and sister Susan Jacks and Terry Jacks.
The Barnes were the Canadian equivalent of the Klein Family(brother and sister Jodi Klein and Robin Klein, children of Allan Klein who was involved with the Beatles and Rolling Stones.). Interesting because The Carpenters were Beatles fans.
People at this venue are going to be telling other people that they were here when Tori Holub sang before a crowd for the first time. Tori is going to be a star.
As a huge Carpenters fan, this girl gives me cold chills every time I hear her. She has more talent in her little finger than Swift, Rihanna, Lizzo, and Beyonce have in their entire bodies combined. I really hope to hear more of Tori in years to come.

I'm blown away! No ear-piece to help her pitching like all the pro's have and still makes an excellent performance;that's talent. Billy spot on with that piano too.
I think the earpiece is in theory because it's very hard to hear the backing track in real time at large venues.
But yeah -- I'm sure some use it to "cheat". :)
Tori is the best Karen Carpenter tribute singer I've ever heard.
The test of a really good singer. Live and just a piano. Few can do this, even some of the greats. They need the full production to sound good. Tori doesn't. We are privileged to be seeing the birth of a star.

Yes she is good but do have a listen to Tori Amos Live at Montreux 1991/1992 where Amos is performing her own songs. When Holub starts recording her own songs we will see how it goes but there are others.

I fell in love with Karen Carpenter's voice in my youth. I closed my eyes listening to this and would swear I was 11 years old again listening to one of the greatest voices of our time. Bravo, Tori...this was absolutely masterful ❤️

I've seen the Carpenters in concert 3 times back in the 70's and all I can say is Karen must have asked God to give you her voice!!! Like Karen, your voice is so rich and smooth and also like Karen you have the gift of perfect pitch!!! I literally had to rub my eyes and do a double take because I really thought that Karen had come down from heaven and was on that stage!!! I see nothing but stars for you in your future young lady!!!

What an amazing talent. Singing Carpenter covers is great but it just illustrates what seems to come naturally to Tori. She sings beautifully and effortlessly without needing to overpower the lyrics. There's a soft-breathy sutlety about her voice that makes it pleasing to listen to compared to Karen's. But the vibrato is spot on and Tori will go far bringing back the live performances of the Carpenters songs. May God bless you!
