You are such a badass when it comes to PvE/survival. That jump over the 50block deep ravine into a zombie-filled waterfall while being spawned underground without any tools or gear was most Etho way to do it. Welcome back, King, we missed you. :)
When I realized you were starting out mid-season, I really hoped you’d become a true hermit…living in secret in other people’s bases, sneaking out to do your builds, and moving on whenever you get discovered. Kind of like Sneaky-E’s but as an entire way of life! The end of the episode gives me hope that this could still come true
That is such a cool idea, but there's the downside that he wouldn't have the freedom to build his cool larger builds.or if he does in someone's basement that might interfere with what they want to build.so this might lead to conflict.

Blind Auction where you give away your Diamonds permanently? Ye ... best to sell some "Legendary Exiled Etho" loot xD High Auction Value. I know a couple of people who would give away their last bit of redstone for that
I might never forget the image of Etho, unarmed, unprotected, racing through the mob filled darkness of that first cave, leaping a ravine into a waterfall, the fearless hero! (Wise to get some Tango Delivery Service, tho!)
You had me at Von Sway. Medium? I’m ready for some HEAVY Von Sway: 9 randomized blocks in your hot bar, an extremely vague concept of what you are doing, and possibly some nearby hermits heckling from lawn chairs.
I'd say combine both ideas and do Von Sway, but in the sky. That way the base not having proper walls or floors or a roof doesn't really matter. Maybe just find an unfinished house at spawn and call up Beef for another Fun House and go from there!
I voted for floating island on Twitter, but I’m 100 times more interested in seeing a mid-von sway theme for your future base. I feel like you’d be enjoy building your base more if you did that, and that really makes it more enjoyable for us.
I won't lie, as a way to get yourself in to Hermitcraft that was genius. Like you said, stories, and now you have the story of "never do raids with a village with a giant cave complex next to it" lol
Etho: "Remember the time that I joined HermitCraft season 9 late, only for Tango to ruthlessly banish me to a deep cave mere moments after I arrived?" Tango: "If I remember correctly, that was your idea."
My first hex casting CAD artifact was a gift and I care about it more than any CAD artifact I've made myself (Then again that's lit the easiest artifact to make, it was just ur standard scribes-hermes)
I think another Von Sway base would be really cool. The season 7 one was one of my favorite bases in HermitCraft. I can only imagine what an even more unhinged version would look like.
I think it'd be cool if he combined the ideas. Unhinged floating islands maybe with items and entities flying through the air. He wouldn't have to worry as much about the terraforming and sculpting the islands.
For real. The fact that somehow the inside of the s7 base feels like its outside, when the base itself has not outside, I've watched him build it a couple times and have toured it myself on the download and I still can't wrap my head around it. Can't begin to guess how he could build something MORE chaotic!
Etho, I'd like to see you take over an ancient city and use that as a base. And hey, the shriekers could be your alarm system whenever you leave in case someone wants to come visit.
Followed by 21:28 “the worst thing to do with an enderman is panic” while he does a masterful job of staying alive and checking what the enderman is doing. Meanwhile: “I BROKE THE BOAT ETHO”
I really love the exile story that you're telling! Minecraft is a storytelling game and even if the server doesn't have that as a specific goal it still happens. I also really loved the style you did in Season 7 where you built semi-randomly, your builds always had a lot of character. Looking forward to any new episodes!
True, it's not designed as a storytelling game. But when the game relies so much on your imagination for how you want to play, stories start to come out naturally. At least, that's what I like about it. I just wanted to explain that I liked what Etho was doing.
Am I the only one who enjoys the irony that Etho had to build a literal trident farm last season when he was based in a shattered Savannah just to get one trident and this season he bases on the ground at the start and insta-gets the trident from the first drowned?
I don't mind what you build, but I want to mention that I would REALLY like to see you collab with Cleo and Zedaph this season. Your dynamics with Cleo in 3rd/last life were impeccable, and Zed is similarly crazy as you, so I'm interested in seeing more of your interactions with either of those two
I love the idea of building mini-bases / abodes within or under other peoples structures. Most hermits build massive and visually pleasing builds but never actually live in them. Etho could become a house sitter and interior decorator if he wishes. Living within the structures and furnishing the interiors with all kinds of shenanigans.
yesss, that would be cool! Hey, most of the hermits aren't really using their starter bases anymore... and even if they are, I'm sure they won't mind a new basement they don't necessarily know about :)
Etho went full Spartan - went out into the wild with no clothes and could only come back after proving himself through battle. Love it! Also love that he's living in B-Dubs' basement because it is such a gorgeous place and am excited to see it more 😁🌻
The only thing you absolutely must do this season in my eyes is completely destroy all the other Hermits at Beef's card game and Decked Out 2.0. Other than that, I'm here for the ride. :P
20:18 the way he said "crazy" actually made me cackle out loud. Had a bit of a long day and seeing an Etho vid was a huge mood boost. I also love the premise of exile, it was one of the few times where I've actually enjoyed watching the first hours of the game.
For the base I would love to see something just nonsensical, crazy and almost surrealistic. I loved your only inside base you made and the creative process was a joy to see. So something that lets you just do crazy creative stuff would be so fun to see :3
You had me at Von Sway. I love that you're still conceptualizing this stylistic and architectural movement, and an unhinged mid-Von Sway base is what dreams are made of tbh! Your season seven base is one of my favorite builds of yours, and favorite builds of all time too, so ya know... skybase sounds awesome too, I'll be watching regardless. Glad to have you back on hermitcraft, you were missed. Oh, and that first trident drop? that's proof of the game's love for you. >:)
The FTB floating islands were also super cool and very nostalgic. A floating Von Sway base seems very very difficult but also could go all sorts of crazy!
Etho is the kind of youtuber that when I’m doing well financially, want to join him, because he’s very up front that it’s not a bribe. I’ve been watching for years and the channel I’ve rewatched the most times. So excited to see you playing with the other hermits Etho!
Having a hermit start this late actually injects fun new energy. It was great seeing early game play. Kudos to you etho for building more attachment to your season.
I'd love to see a von-sway build similar to what Team Canada did for Guude's house way back in Mindcrack! Colors and shapes all over the place! With Elytra in the game now, a build like that could really go wild among all the intricately detailed stuff on the server!
If he does that it would fit when he invites Beef to live with him there since he helped back then with the Guude's prank, has no base yet either, and has a lot of wool, and we all know rainbow colored wool is the main building block for a real von-sway build. 😅
Welcome back!! I'm happy that you're back on Hermitcraft, but I'm *much* happier that your life is finally settling enough that you even can be back on Hermitcraft. Please remember to take it easy, to put you and your family first, and that just because you're committed to doing Double Life once a week for a bit doesn't make you obligated to do this or any other series.
What I would like to see in the short term, is if you take a tour of the server and spend a bit of time with each Hermit see what they've been up to and show off their builds and redstone contraptions. I imagine this is something you'd prob do anyway to an extent even if off camera but I think a tour episode would be good. The season has been going a while and I don't believe anyone else has done something like this yet and I think it would be good for posterity if any hermit did it but it has that added benefit of getting you situated as well. Great to see you back Etho!
Definitely want to see you incorporate Boats with Chests with whatever base design you go with! They are the new pack animal, better than Donkeys in almost every way! Especially with your history of boats, I know it will be a good time! Thanks again for an awesome episode!
Etho! 2:10 was single handedly the funniest thing I've ever watched, and I don't know why but it just hit different lol. Super excited about this new season! Just because we started late doesn't mean we cant build some awesome things! It just sounds to me like we get to start new projects that probably wont be finished lol also, don't stress yourself out with uploading. we know you love making videos for us, but id imagine your still busy in your personal life. don't worry about us, we will always be here waiting. I cant speak for everyone but personally, im not going anywhere!
WELCOME BACK! I know you were back days ago, but here's a warm welcome on your first S9 Hermitcraft video. Etho! Just so you know, there were multiple minecart chest because of multiple server reset. Same thing happened on ocean monuments where there are more than 3 elder guardians.
“Don’t tell Bdubs I’m living down here” This made my day! Great intro episode Etho. Will think on ideas for going forward. I loved your open base from season 7 and I loved your unfinished trident dependant base with Iskall in season 8. Maybe a combination of the 2? Also, your game from season 7 and so many unfinished games fe the gaming district. 😁
Sucks that you couldn't play earlier in the season, but it makes for an interesting dynamic coming in late, reminds me of your first season of Mindcrack. Anyway glad you're back :)
Etho, I think it would be great if you made a programmable note block display. All of the note block pitches for each instrument are laid out and in view of the player, with redstone leading back to the programmable section, that way you are able to listen to the whole song without moving, and can have multiple songs stored at a time. For maximum style points, have certain tunes be able to be called back upon like a function and looped for baselines as a way to save on memory. Maybe not for this series, but it's a fun project I've wanted to do myself if I only had the musical and computer engineering background to make any decent attempt at it. Glad you're getting back into the groove of making new videos.
That's a great suggestion! This is actually an idea I've experimented with a few times over the years, but never fully cracked a good way of doing it. Basically the goal would be to have songs programmed with items that are stored in shulker boxes. The main challenges are making it fast and flexible enough and also keeping the item sequences in proper sync. Plus if you don't want the songs to take a huge amount of space you need to invent a compression system to reduce the information you need to store.
@@EthosLab Perhaps the compression system could be in the form of recycling shulkers. Like, the items go through a hopper to read the sequence, are re-packed, and then the shulker could be run through the system again to avoid having a duplicate. After all, many songs contain lots of repetition. It would almost run like Wintergatan's Marble Machine, with various items looping through again and again to play repeated patterns. Plus, then you won't have to manually re-pack shulkers after each use.
@@EthosLab You should have just moved into cub’s basement, under Scar’s tree. It’s already we’ll set up, and has convenient secret passages to several other bases. 😁👍
But the donkey in the nether was the best part. Especially cuz it got through the nether just fine but then died because Scar's portal design is so intricate that it's deadly.
The Von Sway builds are always so cool and creative. Would love to see another one. Floating islands just sounds tedious, especially coming into the season late. You'll never get to put much on them. Those tiny ones in your singleplayer End took forever, likewise with the ones you made on the Mindcrack FTB, even with the aid of jetpacks and lasers.
The Mindcrack FTB islands were amazing, as well as very nostalgic for me as that was about when I found Etho. It would be a hell of a throwback. Which makes me now think, a throwback to various previous Etho builds would be AMAZING! Like, make a base cobbled together from components of past playthroughs that are either super unique or well known. With of course plenty of Von Sway added in!
Etho!!! Great to have you back! Made my day! I've always thought that if you joined late, it would be cool for you to make a quest for the hermits to find the mythical Ethoslab. The Path to Etho. Like there are secrets from your time being exiled that other hermits must find the clues to find the hidden, mystical, and mysterious Etho's slab. So i think the hidden and exiled Etho's Lab would be cool!
This guy…a new server, and rather than taking it slow, or building a little starter base, he decides the spend the episode gaining death and near-death experiences. That whole part where he angered the Enderman, then caught a skele, then got exploded by a creeper, freeing the skele and the enderman, water bucketing down to hide from the enderman and heal?? That was insane. How did Etho live? And if that wasn’t enough, then he goes to fight a raid…or two. That was a great jump cut back in time to the first raid lol, and I was cackling at the hide and seek game that was going on in those caves. Evokers really are no joke! The enchanting gods really weren’t on his side either today. So many single enchants, but that was quite amusing to watch anyway. I loved the lil sign above his tiny tiny village house too, noting it was Etho’s Exile. I’m not sure why he picked the smallest house in the place, but I’m also not surprised by the amount he managed to hoard in that small stretch of time…rip nameless donkey, 2022-2022. Scar will either find it hilarious or devastating that the donkey died to the portal, although I’m not sure which yet! Anyway, I had a fantastic time watching this episode. I love Etho caving, and whilst I look forwards to seeing what he gets up to next, this was a great first episode! So glad he’s back :)
I remember your floating islands in mindcrack ftb. The one with genny and bdubs doing the Bee stuff and riggedy biuldings. Loved that season. It really Was special to me.
It's so good to see him join this season. It feels like something special and I'm actually a newer hermit fan having only started this season, and of course also new to Etho, but I feel he has already earned my loyalty as a viewer of his content. I have so much catching up to do.
i love how we enter the nether hub through an artery and its like "oh how tastefully decorated very nice", and then we enter the most majestic and incredible nether hub of all SMPs
your season seven base is my all-time favourite hermit base so i would love to see you do that 2.0 !! but ngl, the floating islands also sound good. I'm so happy you're back on hermitcraft, you should have seen the celebratory dance i did when i got the notification!
The prankster side of Etho is definitely my favorite part on the multiplayer series, get together with people and do some fun stuff. Also definitely voting for Von Sway xD
Etho you are a genius! You did what nothing else has been able to do. I have had Minecraft as long as it has been a thing. But I have never PLAYED Minecraft. Kinda like Sims I just build. I think I am pretty good, but don't have the nubs to publish anything because once it is out there it no longer matters what you think anymore. But I watched this and decided to follow your lead. First time with the cheats still on in case I wanted something I didn't have. Second time with cheats too, but I forced myself to actually LEARN the recipes for the things I used all the time, but in the same village. This time no cheats, village start like you, and I am half-way! Thanks for giving me a new love for a game I use everyday. Now I can PLAY!
Something I want to see you do this season Etho, is interact more with the other Hermits on camera. Since you have two single player series, this is a perfect opportunity to be more social. I also really liked that idea you had last season of doing interviews of all the Hermits. As for basing... you could always live inside the walls of other Hermits bases, and tell them to fill in spaces, not cover them up.
so glad to see you joining the season!! episodes like this make me feel so nostalgic!!! most mcyts these days fully cut out just, well, playing the game and the struggles that ensue, and i miss it. so entertaining to see you trucking around in iron armour and getting the full experience of starting a new minecraft world, i love it so much. as for season plans, it looks like most people are doing high fantasy or steampunk-ish this season, but what if you were a timetraveller or someone who travels across worlds? the hodge-podge base from season 7 having all different styled rooms sewn together could be really cool if you did modelling based off of different time periods/vastly different architectural styles. i think it would be a fun challenge, and you could really create some cool stuff with all the unorthodox textures/blocks you use in your builds! (and it would also create great opportunity for shenanigans with a mysterious base of contraptions such as this >:)) i’m kind of thinking of zisteau’s old pranked base with the coloured wool from mindcrack, but with a considerable bit more elegance)
I would like to see you mid von sway a mancave, it has always been something in my mind since the cave update. You could also von sway the village on the surface and connect it to the cave.
Welcome back! Idea for the season: Micro-bases! Build one micro base in each of the hermits bases. Each micro base can house one farm, and you can choose a type of farm that would benefit the hermit. They would have to agree on a spot for you to build, and you could try to match their style if you want to (though some building shenanigans could be fun). Then your own thing can be random redstone projects and other random builds instead of a mega base. Not every single hermit needs to have a mega base
This episode is just a perfect minecraft let's play. Really glad to have you back man, I'm glad you feel well enough to share this game play. Can't wait to see what you do this season. And yeah go for the crazy base lmao!
Welcome back Etho! I can't explain it but somehow there is something fitting about you becoming a true Hermit after being away for so long! I can't wait to see what wonderful builds you create :) the interactions with Tango were so wholesome and brought a smile to my face. You were very much missed ❤.
Hey etho, just wanted to say, I've been going through some stuff. Nothing major, just little things that have been making me sad, but your videos help me forget. So many of the other Minecrafters are so focused on big, tall, fast, complex things in the game, which is great, but your videos help me remember that it's fine to like the simple things and take your time with them. I'll never forget my first Minecraft world, where I just chilled out, took care of my farms, built my dirt castle, went exploring every now and then to find new places to make separate bases. Didn't even get diamonds until way later, and never entered the nether or beat the dragon. That was my favorite.
If I had a nickel for everything a hermit has decided to live in someone else's basement this season... I'd have 2 nickels! Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice 😂

Beef and Zed helping out
I voted for floating island on Twitter, but I’m 100 times more interested in seeing a mid-von sway theme for your future base. I feel like you’d be enjoy building your base more if you did that, and that really makes it more enjoyable for us.
Yea and I don't know if I could handle High Von-Sway. I'm not sure if I can concieve of that!
I am here to add my support. The last hermitcraft base was literally one of my favorite Minecraft builds ever.
I did not expect s7 to be considered von-sway lite, I can't wait to see more.

Etho makes a really solid point here. We may appreciate things given to us, but the things we earn are what we cherish.

@@something-from-elsewhere Yeah, I think there's a difference between "given" and "gifted" here.
We find meaning in life through love and endeavour.
I think another Von Sway base would be really cool. The season 7 one was one of my favorite bases in HermitCraft. I can only imagine what an even more unhinged version would look like.
Yeah lol how would he make an even crazier base than that one? J always loved that base too and would love to see another take on it.
I think it'd be cool if he combined the ideas. Unhinged floating islands maybe with items and entities flying through the air. He wouldn't have to worry as much about the terraforming and sculpting the islands.
Since it had no exterior, technically the whole world was his base.
And hey, the shriekers could be your alarm system whenever you leave in case someone wants to come visit.
and terraform some kind of underground mushroom biome like terraria around the city would be pretty cool
TBH That's what I've been thinking he should do in Double Life xD

I really love the exile story that you're telling! Minecraft is a storytelling game and even if the server doesn't have that as a specific goal it still happens. I also really loved the style you did in Season 7 where you built semi-randomly, your builds always had a lot of character. Looking forward to any new episodes!
I mean minecraft isnt a storytelling game. It can be a medium for storytelling, but it's not a storytelling game
True, it's not designed as a storytelling game. But when the game relies so much on your imagination for how you want to play, stories start to come out naturally. At least, that's what I like about it. I just wanted to explain that I liked what Etho was doing.
It’s not random , it’s *von sway*
Am I the only one who enjoys the irony that Etho had to build a literal trident farm last season when he was based in a shattered Savannah just to get one trident and this season he bases on the ground at the start and insta-gets the trident from the first drowned?
copying from other comment it's the first try-dent.
I don't mind what you build, but I want to mention that I would REALLY like to see you collab with Cleo and Zedaph this season. Your dynamics with Cleo in 3rd/last life were impeccable, and Zed is similarly crazy as you, so I'm interested in seeing more of your interactions with either of those two
I was just thinking the other day how cool it would be to see a Zed/Etho project!!!
Exile was a great idea to get a "proper" start and avoid all those riches of the fellow hermits :D
Glad you finally arrived on the server!
Ikr!! fantastic idea to make a more natural beginning
Brings a new meaning to hermit craft!
yesss, that would be cool! Hey, most of the hermits aren't really using their starter bases anymore... and even if they are, I'm sure they won't mind a new basement they don't necessarily know about :)

As someone that’s only watched hermit craft through Etho’s perspective, seeing Tango’s nether hub for the first time was literal JAW DROPPING
Time to start watching Tangos videos too 😉

One down, one to go!😂
Wow.
both of these things have occurred
would love to see some some von sway!!!!!
Not to mention how much durability that trident had. That's the most I've seen right off the guy.
--When you realize Tango's decorative stars aren't end rods, but actual nether stars....
Yesh I suggest watching his videos they're light =)
I'd love to see a von-sway build similar to what Team Canada did for Guude's house way back in Mindcrack! Colors and shapes all over the place! With Elytra in the game now, a build like that could really go wild among all the intricately detailed stuff on the server!
If he does that it would fit when he invites Beef to live with him there since he helped back then with the Guude's prank, has no base yet either, and has a lot of wool, and we all know rainbow colored wool is the main building block for a real von-sway build. 😅
As much as I love the idea of floating islands, mid von sway sounds terrific, I loved your season 7 base
Tango's "Welcome home" even hit me! Welcome back Etho.
Well put! Couldn’t agree more!
List the top 5 redstone builds on the server!
Yeah this is a great idea. To piggyback, maybe squat in a bunch of hermit's houses
Big fan, mr. etho

I’m so glad you are coming back to Hermitcraft Etho!
Definitely want to see you incorporate Boats with Chests with whatever base design you go with!
They are the new pack animal, better than Donkeys in almost every way!
Especially with your history of boats, I know it will be a good time!
Thanks again for an awesome episode!
Unhinged von sway would be a great base style for this season I think, really works theme-wise with the chaotic start haha
Especially if he says the Monstrosity was light and this will be even more extreme and look good because it is etho.
Fully agree
Etho! 2:10 was single handedly the funniest thing I've ever watched, and I don't know why but it just hit different lol. Super excited about this new season! Just because we started late doesn't mean we cant build some awesome things! It just sounds to me like we get to start new projects that probably wont be finished lol
also, don't stress yourself out with uploading. we know you love making videos for us, but id imagine your still busy in your personal life. don't worry about us, we will always be here waiting. I cant speak for everyone but personally, im not going anywhere!
I really want "Don't tell Bubs" to become a running joke in Etho's videos now.

Funny thing. Bdubs build is now owned by ren....or at least the top.
20:40 this sequence of action is one of the best display of Minecraft skill I've ever seen from a LP Minecraft UA-camr. I LOVE ETHO SO MUCH
Sucks that you couldn't play earlier in the season, but it makes for an interesting dynamic coming in late, reminds me of your first season of Mindcrack.
If only I had the patience for that, but it would be neat.
@@EthosLab Maybe some sort of punch card system like music boxes use. That is i think the most compressed way of storing "music"
Hermits: We're going to spoil Etho so much when he gets back.
Etho: Exile time!!
Welcome back Etho, Hermitcraft isn't really the same without you.
First of all ETHO'S BACK!
That was one of my favorite builds of his IMO. Although I agree, without the assistance of jetpacks, lasers, and quarries it would be very tedious.
@@Teh_Random_Canadian idk mannn have you seen grain’s boulders?
The Mindcrack FTB islands were amazing, as well as very nostalgic for me as that was about when I found Etho. It would be a hell of a throwback. Which makes me now think, a throwback to various previous Etho builds would be AMAZING! Like, make a base cobbled together from components of past playthroughs that are either super unique or well known. With of course plenty of Von Sway added in!
Von sway indeed
15:19 that "yes!" clap for the tall grass loot genuinely got me excited for that lol
17:13 The legendary First Try-dent makes a comeback! Just as Etho talked about items with a story :)

As for basing... you could always live inside the walls of other Hermits bases, and tell them to fill in spaces, not cover them up.

as for season plans, it looks like most people are doing high fantasy or steampunk-ish this season, but what if you were a timetraveller or someone who travels across worlds? the hodge-podge base from season 7 having all different styled rooms sewn together could be really cool if you did modelling based off of different time periods/vastly different architectural styles. i think it would be a fun challenge, and you could really create some cool stuff with all the unorthodox textures/blocks you use in your builds! (and it would also create great opportunity for shenanigans with a mysterious base of contraptions such as this >:)) i’m kind of thinking of zisteau’s old pranked base with the coloured wool from mindcrack, but with a considerable bit more elegance)

your season 7 base was my favorite and it has giving me endless inspiration, it seems to fit you, so i'd love to see more of it
Welcome back!

Yes!! So long awaited! Can’t wait for this season with you, etho!!!
