Am I the only one that felt old when they saw this video? I grew up listening to them and seeing the age show on their faces so close up made me aware of my own aging.
racoonzattack same I remember being 15 and watching and listening to singles from sing the sorrow. Their music and appearance matured as I did. It's a bit haunting
racoonzattack but you know, it's presented in a beautiful way. Reading your comment and then looking at the last frame of the video, it's like whispers of "it's still us. we're still here. "
HelpmeImbeingusedAsahumanpillow W pshh! lol, was 23! I'm still young and fun. y'all ain't old guys, neither are they yet...although I definitely liked their older music from 2003 (1st time to watch on mtv live performance, the best!).
This song is terribly underrated. To me, “barking in the wrong key”means not prioritizing/focusing on what’s most important (doing things to impress others/worrying about what is “cool”, showing off meaningless materialistic items, etc). And you/we sing along is saying sometimes we lose sight of what is most important too, even if we don’t mean too. “Can you see at night? We can see at night” is important to all of this because it’s ultimately asking can YOU see what truly holds the most value through all the darkness?
It took me a long time to realize that this modern AFI shouldn't and can't be compared to the old days. As a guy who grew up with very proud of ya I had the hardest time accepting AFI post the art of drowning. Now as a grown man, I can really appreciate and enjoy the newer sound of AFI. However, if they played a black sails set or art of drowning set I would be right back there in the pit. I guess what I am saying is don't compare it to the past as you can never go back but stand along I dig this song quite a bit. Keep it up fellas.
This is my fav childhood band and I’m crying because my name is aurelia. It’s like they’re singing straight to me, and it’s making my inner 12 year old cry. I’m so glad I got to see them whenever they toured with linkin Park.. I’m just gonna keep on crying now
I planned on naming my daugther Aurelia after Caesars mother..got on youtube seen this video realized it was meant to be. Now I'm blessed with my own little Aurelia. :)
I love seeing the lines, the wrinkles, the imperfections, it's all a part of humanity which finds its way into their music. They move along the line of time with me and everyone else. There is nothing more pathetic than a band that constantly tries to relive their glory days and does not age and grow old gracefully. AFI is doing it right. Oh, and Davey is still hot AF.
oh man. i haven't listened to AFI since Decemberunderground times. But a few days ago I just remembered them and i was brought here. This song is amazing!
AFI keeps gets better with age. I love how this band has evolved over the years. As a fan that's listened to them since 95, I don't think I've loved a more AFI album then Very Proud of Ya and Sing The Sorrow. Cheers.
Gorgeous! I'm just here to make shallow comments: I love Davey's curls, Jade is a timeless beauty, Hunter's eyes are especially stunning, and Adam is altogether super handsome and underappreciated.
As long as we're being superficial, did you notice davey took his earrings out and you can see right thru the holes? What i would give for an interviewer to ask him about that...
Haha no I didn't notice that! Can't believe I wasn't ogling hard enough. He seems like a guy who's comfortable with change (including blacking out his sleeves as mentioned). I've always admired Davey for being a bit of a chameleon :)
I named my daughter Aurelia the other day when she was born a little early after my husbands grandmother and I’ve never heard it before so I typed it in to see what popped up and I used to listen to this band all the time in middle school!! I had such good taste even as a middle schooler lol 🥰
I have a daughter named Aurelia. I've loved the name since I was a teenager. My father found a book that his father had and the woman ( nun) it was about was named Aurelia. It's so crazy to see your idols aging... You can see all the lines in the fellas faces, and it kinda hurts because you know that one day, they'll stop making music... I've grown up with these guys, and I just can't imagine never hearing something new from them...

I love their innocence and dark beauty that they portray, and of course their hidden meanings that connect with a handfull of records. They will forever be with me durning all my transitions throughout life changing and evolving with me and i can always connect with these brilliant artist. im now 33 years old and never felt better because of them...
To every one who complains that AFI " just isn't what they used to be," Please... let's stop this neverending pointless complaining. You have a right to not want to listen to them, but everyone has to understand that part of AFI is the fact that each album they have evolved their sound a bit. Each album has its own sound and emotion. Any serious afi fan knows this. Nothing will change. AFI will continue to grow and make new powerful music. Please stop bringing up pointless debates and complaints and either listen or don't. This is the first UA-cam post I've ever made, as it's the only thing that I've felt inclined to say so strongly.
Brenda Schleichhardt haha. Ya, I'm definitely different than my 14-year-old self. I just watched a recent interview with Davey and Adam, and they asked specifically about how each album has its own unique sound, and they said that, of course, each album is based on their current emotions and where they are at their life. Davey also said that for them to repeat the same sound over and over would be boring for them and they like to challenge themselves and create new music.
Katya Slater-Szirom I think people expect for them to play the same way they did 20 years ago. If a band keep playing the same way it will be boring so of course they not going to sound the same way. ❤❤❤

This song also helped me stay off drugs. Like following suit, singing along, I was destroying myself. Thank you for helping me see the other side of life, a brighter side.
This song and the album are truly exceptional and outstanding this is one of the few bands that have survived the years and still evolve in such a unique way. Now with a pure, neat and modern image. Lyrics, vocals, each instrument and production impecable. dont really get the comments that want a similar record as Sing the sorrow, etc. What would be the point of it? Be one of those artists that get stuck in a stage of their lives and dont progress or mutate? This band is more than that and they have just prove it again. Far from being sad (as some idiotic comment below) its a deep satisfactory feeling to have grown up with AFI and move forward, as it should be. Hope more people appreciate this kind of talented artists.
Ilse Pinner Tallqvist i think people don't like the change because nearly every band does it (change to a poppier sound if that is how you say it) And it really just feels boring after a while seeing every band gravitate to the same sound, (good example bmth) another reason is that (just to me) it is way to bland. I enjoy good lyrics but i enjoy it performed in a way that fits (eg: hotel books- every day, the same)
A very intimate and honest video. Love the emotional candor and presence that each of the guys have with no effort at all. Also, they all have beautiful eyes ;)

I like your interpretation. I honestly was thinking about Hollywood and all the bs that goes on in Hollywood and How everyone are sheep and go with the flow out there.
Being a guy that loves AFI for more than 20 years I have to say that I admire their creativity. I doubt they would still be together if their style sounded the same it did 20 years ago. So being a almost 40 years guy dying to see AFI once in my lifetime, if that is possible! SO I hope Portugal will be in the map after covid, fingers crossed.
Saw you play at the Riviera in Chicago!!!!!! Best night of my life! Thank you and it was great meeting Jade afterwards and holding Davey's hand when he was on stage! So many memories, through the good and bad, thank you AFI! I look forward to seeing you again and again and again!
I have forever loved afi but due to health could never see these artists live. I am seeing them finally on Valentine's day at the Marquee I hope I get to hear this song .🤘💗 forever
I'm so tired of reading comments about how AFI isn't as good as they used to be. Like, no matter what AFI video I'm on, people are complaining about this! I don't get it! I love ALL their music. The old, the new, the in between, whatever. AFI is awesome
AFI will always be my favorite band! My older brother got me into them as a kid in the late 90s and ive been in awe since. I'll admit some directions they pushed towards were not my favorite, but with time they've always crept back into their dark roots; love this album.
Totally love this song and the simplicity of the video. I love you boys from my heart. You've been there in my lowest moments and lifted me up into the light. For everything you do for us, much love and respect always🖤AFI4LFE!
I just found this. Kinda freaking out. I love it. I was lucky enough to have my dad (who's also a big fan) take me to a concert as a teen. Davey seemed like a really nice guy. They all did. I'll always love this band. The show was incredible! Davey got light headed from holding a note so long, but it just made it all the more epic. They actually sound even better in real life.
And I bet you're in your 20s.. right?? Every time someone says that.. they're like 25... LOL.. And feel old because they've been listening to AFI since they were like 12 or 13....
karismatica55 oh, i see..., in my defense i can say, since i left The school, my life has turned harder and harder. The only time when i remember a smile in my face, it time was when i was seventeen, when i was a teenager. all its so hard now, my past time is a treasure for me.
for me this is the deepest video of AFI :'/ I feel it very nostalgic, profound, low... and awesome at the same time. I love the song, but the video makes me cry
Great song by an awesome band. Saw them on Sunday and it had to be the best I've ever seen them. I love that I've grown up with the band. Davey is getting better with age I think this is my fav look he just looks so good and his voice is amazing on this album. I hope they continue evolving as a band and they do a headlining tour in the U.K. Soon
Anyone criticizing them for "going soft": see them live. I dare you to say they don't go hard. They still have so much energy and still play old songs.
10 years from now when AFI ressurects again everyone will be saying how this was the old them. "We're all just presently living our future memories of the past."
I feel like the unofficial theme of the video is how far they've come along and how much they've aged and matured. Im sure they are well aware of the people so say that their older stuff was better and this is their response. This is their way of showing who they are now and how much they learned in the long run. The close up shots on wrinkles and eyes represent the maturity of their newer sound which is directly reflected in the music. Its really cool for a video with so little context or plot to have such a meaning, even if it isn't what it is meant to be.
Am I the only one that felt old when they saw this video? I grew up listening to them and seeing the age show on their faces so close up made me aware of my own aging.

I like that Jade hasn't change his hair for the past 14 years. He's really committed to his fringe.

Mike Kristin same thing here.... pretty rare to read something smart on youtube
They usually play quite a few songs from pre Sing the Sorrow at every show. I think you'd enjoy their set arraignment.
Martin Boucher ^
I'd definitely would go acca, if they did play some songs from Sing the sorrow album live dow

In 1999 when I first heard AFI this was my favorite song. I was so happy when they played it live in 2006. This song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dear AFI... You were the band for my teenage years back in late 90's. Water flew and you are still here yet different. Thanks.
My girlfriend and I have decided to stay childfree forever. However, if that changed, I would name my first daughter "Aurelia".
25 years of AFI..

After all this time I still enjoy their music ❤
Nice. I am no longer afraid to walk past him. Haven't listened to AFI since like 2010. Glad to see the evolution. Epic band.
They should have went with So Beneath You for a third single... Such a classic AFI tune.
I really love this video. You can really appreciate how good looking these men really are with these camera angles etc
Davey brought back this hairstyle :)
Totally love this song and the simplicity of the video. I love you boys from my heart. You've been there in my lowest moments and lifted me up into the light. For everything you do for us, much love and respect always🖤AFI4LFE!
Buena canción!!
They are definitely better on stage. Your dad did a nice souvenir that day.
This video is so amazing. It goes well with the song. 🖤
one of my favourites handsdown
Soooooo stoked about this.
fan since 2003. still love this band so so much.
i feel too old right now,
:'(
And I bet you're in your 20s.. right?? Every time someone says that.. they're like 25... LOL.. And feel old because they've been listening to AFI since they were like 12 or 13....
karismatica55 , yes you are right, 25 years old, i feel nostalgic, we are not young anymore, we are not teenagers anymore...
You're like way young! I'm the same age as Davey & don't feel old... except when my back hurts, or my carpal tunnel acts up... LOL
karismatica55 Couldn't agree more!! lol
karismatica55 oh, i see..., in my defense i can say,
since i left The school, my life has turned harder and harder. The only time when i remember a smile in my face, it time was when i was seventeen, when i was a teenager.
all its so hard now, my past time is a treasure for me.
I'll never not love AFI. got to see them live ten years ago when they came through Oklahoma. I'll never forget that show!
havok the legend!!!!! keep like this
I love this whole album so much. I've been listening to AFI since TAOD.
Imagine a video like this during the DU era!
I went to see them at the Gothic Theater in Denver earlier this year. It was one of the best days of my life. Thank you,AFI!!
Time flies, i used to listen to AFI when i was really young. I'm 23 now, it feels so weird.
My AFI's fav song is silver and cold because it reminds me of when I was Emo
OLIVEGC mine was summer shudder.
Achievement unlocked: irrelevant information :v
I miss Emo girls they was so cute
It is so amazing watching AFI grow & progress with time.. this band never disappoints!!
This video makes me so happy, I love Aurelia
for me this is the deepest video of AFI :'/ I feel it very nostalgic, profound, low... and awesome at the same time. I love the song, but the video makes me cry
A mí también me hizo llorar.
this song make me happy too
Great song by an awesome band. Saw them on Sunday and it had to be the best I've ever seen them. I love that I've grown up with the band. Davey is getting better with age I think this is my fav look he just looks so good and his voice is amazing on this album. I hope they continue evolving as a band and they do a headlining tour in the U.K. Soon
Love this video ❤️
Love old school AFI and Sepultura, along with Rage and In Flames. They kept it REAL..
Forever and ever, my loves ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I feel like we grew up with afi, as they grew up
Baltimore show is going to be epic
I'm counting down the days until February 8th! I've always wanted to check out Ram's Head venue...thanks to this concert I can say I have.
I don't live in baltimore
Best afi setlist I've seen live.. midnight sun!!
This became my favorite AFI song (and that's huge saying!) and one of my top in general. Love every second of it. ❤
Anyone criticizing them for "going soft": see them live. I dare you to say they don't go hard. They still have so much energy and still play old songs.
plus his other like 4 bands one of which is pretty hard
This song has that 90's style that I love and enjoy.
please Monterrey Mexico Tour

Cynthia Berenice Sg Hay un grupo de AFI ?
Raw video, no bells and whistles. Love this one.
"Ok, I honestly have no idea what to do so I'm just gonna do close ups of your faces." - Director
Lol XD Still looks cool
Yeah, this song deserved a better video. But this its ok too.
sometimes you just have to do an affordable video
10 years from now when AFI ressurects again everyone will be saying how this was the old them.
"We're all just presently living our future memories of the past."
Who still listening to this in 2017 👂🤘🤘
I feel like the unofficial theme of the video is how far they've come along and how much they've aged and matured.
I love Davey’s lips 🖤🩸
