LYRICS
I saw sugar there, dancing in the sweet air. When my eyes began to hurt, I spun sugared air, twisted up in your hair that you’d burn before you’d flirt. Spinning, I must, Dulcería. You’re so cool that our tongues got stuck, in from the storm, where the norm is perverse. Well-acted porn’s getting worse. I love you more here, on the floor. ‘Inhaled sugar there, dancing through the sweet air ‘til our breath began to quake. I took several takes, melting in the cold air and yet I gave you the shakes spinning for you, cuz you’re so cool. You’re so cool that our tongues got stuck. It took only a single take for me to melt upon the floor and I gave you the shakes. It took only a single take for me to melt upon the floor. You still give me the shakes. I shake. Here on the floor, I love you more. I love you more.

#AFI #Dulcería #Bodies
AFI doesn't get enough credit for their recent albums. This song is incredible
Because they're bad
Blood Album got no1 on the charts. Bodies I think got on the 30s. Doesn't matter to me tho, love both albums.
It's because they're trash
They have a few good ones of the recent albums but 80% not so much my opinion. This & Aurelia stand out
It’s the same since STS, music is great but Davey is singing too feminine. The aggression isn’t there. White Offerings had it but also had the whiny-ness. The high pitch OH’s & Ughwahs he does live is a big no. The prime will always be Nitro days
I literally just watched 5 minutes of Davey Havok picking up and throwing flowers in an aesthetic fashion, and I loved every second of it.
very morrissey
@@CoraDagger84 laughing because I literally just made a playlist on Amazon music with this song and some Morissey 😂
Right? This entire video could have been made in the back room of a Michael's and it's still excellent. How do they do this.
best. comment. here.
Yeah baby! 😅 he’s dreamy
The bass makes this band extra special.
Hunter is incredible.
Hunter just dominates on this album.
I've said before that somehow it's the bass lines that make AFI songs recognizable before Davey even starts singing
I've always loved his baselines. Made me pick up playing the bass and immediately learn as much AFI as I could.
@@wespollock3477 For me it was actually Roger from Less Than Jake that wound up leading me to become a bass player... something about the sound profile he has set up with his Ernie Ball just made up my mind for me. But Hunter on this album got me to break my bass back out after too long of not playing.
This is one of those songs that gets more beautiful each time you listen to it
I absolutely agree. Big fan of AFI. I'm 33 been listening to them since I was 17-18 ❤️
man i thought the same! Beautiful song.
Twisted Tongues hits a million streams on Spotify in 6 weeks. AFI vinyl is selling for higher than it’s ever been. Bootleg AFI merch is being made more than ever before. I love that my favorite band is not only relevant 30 years later but also kicking ass as well 💅🏽✨
AFI fans have been touch starved for good merch. I bought a female DU sweater from hot topic because I was so desperate for merch lol
I’m just wondering how the heck is this video only have 7 k veiws
@@andipatel5044 it JUST came out
Twisted Tongues should been a single (with a video). Monster record. I wish I could pick their singles.
@@gprime3702 Id have started with Dulceria and then Begging for Trouble first then finally getting to Twisted Tongues ,as far as videos and tone go. but thats just me. we are so blessed rn . pretty sure AFI single handedly defeated this pandemic . for me anyways. :D We also only heard 5 songs out of 11. LESS THAN HALF
AFI are heading further down that 80s post-punk rabbit hole and I am HERE for it, that bassline is absolutely delicious~
Wait til you discover Blaqk Audio
@@GinsuChikara I'm already a big BA fan actually! I do love how AFI is getting some of that 80s flavor now, though.
It's where they belong. I love angsty old AFI do not get me wrong for one second. The new is great though. They said it themselves. In darkness together we ignite. They had a plan to go dark wave.
@@Intentspunk19 Oh totally - they've definitely been on this track since Decemberunderground, certainly taking their time (Crash Love was a good album people, accept it) but the journey's been sooo worth it.
I still can't imagine that they're look is like The Blues Brothers but they are going down the 80's punk
I am in tears. I've been listening to AFI for half my life now, and have never heard a sound like this from them. This is absolutely stunning.
You are in tears? You mean you are crying. 🙄
Best song they’ve made since death of season.
There is a few B side songs that have this mood. Definitely not their main stream stuff, but it's there. You should also check out Dream Car if you like this. Dream Car is Davey Havok on vocals with No Doubt on instrumentals. It's pretty kick ass.
This is super unique, its not the Afi I grew up with but its still damn awesome.
@@royedwards51I bet your american
that pulsing bass line carries the song through, and to no surprise the bands furthering into post-punk and 80's synth heavy goth feels so natural. Davey taking huggggge influences from Bauhaus on this one and it shows!
So interesting it comes out just after I watched "The Americans" episode with Bauhaus ' Slice on Life haha
That's because Billy Corgan co-wrote this one.
My immediate thought as a bassist is I must cover/learn this. So catchy and smooth
Giving me some real silversunpickups vibes
He always has. He loves post punk - I saw them open for the cure like 15 years ago- and actually the vocals are very duran duran
You can totally tell that the guys really love 80s post-punk. I ain't complaining.
Nothing about this sounds like 80s post punk 😂
The bass reminds me of New years day by U2
Crecemos juntos, viviendo cada etapa... AFI Forever
exatamente
Amen!
ya estan demasiado viejos
@@alejandromamanicondori8713 you should be ashamed of yourself for such comment! Shaming musicians for their age is so low! They're perfectly fine and music knows no boundaries of age.
I had no idea Davey could still hit those notes. Incredible
Wadda you mean still?
@@kylestachura Touché. To be fair he’s always sounded fantastic, he’s just been singing in a lower register in recent years
@@SlashManEXE My boyfriend said "Davey's voice sounds so weird." Some guys don't like the falsetto but it's tradition, like with Morrissey. I think it (the falsetto/whisper) leaves space to imagine a different gender singing too. That would make sense, as Bodies has a message of transcending gender, imo.
He has displayed similar notes on Miseria Cantare and Fainting Spells. It’s not out of his norm to have this singing style. You just got to look beyond the singles my friend ;)
@@kylestachura a while a go he had a cyst on his vocal chords and some surgery shortly after sing the sorrow and hes been slowly gaining strength back
How can one band reinvent their sound so many times and be excellent each and every time. Unreal.
Why AFI is my favorite band.
Yes agreed!!
Cause he is Scorpion ;)
Yes!! Someone who gets it!
Yes. Thank you for this comment. No other band has been able to do what these four do.
Dulceria is so good and so different from anything they've done before. I said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE how much Adam and Hunter are getting to shine on this record. Jade's production is so playful and Davey is doing a lot of new things with his voice. This is going to be such a chill, fun record.
how come you already listened to Dulceria? :0
@@estebanarias8870 You could hear them early by setting a VPN to Australia's time zone.
Definitely different from anything they've done before, but so damn good.
@@AthanCondax I hope they made your job easier by giving us so many good shots of Hunter's playing in this video! xD
@@DillonTaylorVA This is the first time anyone's ever referred to bass tabbing as my "job" haha but I'm telling you I'm gonna tear this song up when I do a video for it.
Los conocí con Silver and Cold en 2003, y es increíble escuchar cómo se reinventan cada vez. Es una rola tan excelente.
Y ahuevo, escribieron "dulcería" con tilde. 🖤🖤
Bien Dicho ...Es Incredible Su Hermoso Talento 🎵❤️
I kinda wish they'd do a whole album with this vibe. They pull it off so beautifully.
BODIES is already a work of art and the entirety of the album isn't even out yet! I'm counting down the days.
absolutely agree.
Disagree but k
Yeah AFI are incredible.
Holy shit, this just made me cry a lot, AFI is back better than ever, this is so experimental and relax, i love it, i never expected that this guys would make something like this, great change.🖤
I agree.
Do you mean "experimental" as in genre? Because this is pretty much just their take on new wave and gothier influenced stuff (which sounds great, it's just not really unheard in the grand scheme).
@@waveemann8857 My guess is they mean experimental as in they're trying new things with their sound as opposed to each album being a new set of songs in their tried-and-true style (like what Rise Against does)
I cannot put into words the level of joy it brings me to see Davey embracing his inner Robert Smith😍
I heard Billy Corgan helped on this song actually..
this sounds nothing like the cure at all
i feel you. also check out the entire 2002-2007 era, especially when they covered Just Like Heaven in front of Robert. flawlessly
@@iwillnevergetone5 I love that version of the song. I've been a huge AFI fan for a long time. I truely believe that even his mannerisms in this video are leaning very Smith-like.
@@MarcosGarcia000 true. this is def my fav so far of their latest 2021 releases
Dang, this song was really cool. Probably the most surprising song coming from AFI in years.
Can I just say that I RARELY go into the comments on AFI things because of how often it devolves into people arguing over their sound evolution, but the comments on this video seem to all be overwhelmingly positive? I love this song so so much, and I love y'all in the DF
Furry.
AFI's new album "Oops All Bangers" coming out June 11th. I can't wait.
It really is shaping up to be a strong album.
@@neonshark337 It's a strong album
besat album just great
In the immortal words of Walter White, You're Goddamn right
That legit made me snort-laugh. Like a gut-punch of truth
No matter what. No matter the Era. No matter the genre. It's always great, never disappointed but always surprised. 💖
I'm just so happy for Hunter living his best life in this song.
Right?! Hunter shines in this track
idk if it’s bc i first heard davey havok’s voice when i was a sad 11 yr old. but there’s just something so comforting about it to me now, even 15 yrs later.
Davey's voice is so beautiful!! I'm loving this song so much already!
I've played this song about 5 times today already. Pure art.
While the rest of the world chases fads, these guys never stop innovating!
Well put

His vocal range for this song reminds me of Silver and Cold.
This has to be my all-time favorite chorus of theirs, based on him hitting those high notes. Fucking brilliant!
Love this
Pleasantly astonished,with this!
Love ❤️💕
Theyre staytrue to themselves, love the arrangement, vocal range, their ability for trying to expressnew ,their innovations, and honesty
Totally 😍😍
I admit at first I said "What...happened?!?!" and then my icy and angsty teen heart melted and let shine the grown man who truly loves how truly themselves AFI have always been and I am happy to have grown up with them and to hear them to this day. Very different and very good. Also, damn Davey. Still love you so much.
My first thought was WTF and then I thought about how The Damned reinvented themselves so many times. By the end I was thinking what a great song this is.
I'm right there with you man. At 43 I'm alot less angry and jaded than 17 lol
Love, especially for sucha metaphors, and this wellproduced music
Kid of the 80s. Rocked in the 90s. Been waiting for something like this.
UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE
AFI keeps excelling itself... I definitely wasn't expecting this to hit so hard. Thank you, guys
ever since the Covid and lockdown period I'm falling into Post Punk and New wave and here we have AFI with their new sound
This is why they are my favorite band
Call the police. Hunter murdered that fucking baseline.
This new album, just has great music.
No one has such expressive hands as Davey Havok, that's for sure!
Dave’s needs to do a whole album singing like this. Old AFI vibes for sure plus has a more post hardcore feel witch i like! when he sings like that i’m talking about
The melody of the song and the whole aesthetic of the video is simply beautiful! I'm grateful they're still putting music out there. They're such a solid band that deserves more recognition!
Obsessed with this track! It’s so beautiful and tragic like so many of AFI’s songs but the soundscape is unlike much of anything they have created before. It won’t even get started on how fantastic that bass line from Hunter is, and Davey’s vocals are so strong trying new things. The song is so cohesive.
El amor a AFI es incondicional desde siempre y como no amarlos cuando nos entregan canciones así? Grande AFI como siempre...
The mullet is BACK!
Who knew Kenny Powers could sing like THAT? And Ric Ocasek is killing it on the drums. Best ghost drummer ever.
And Peter Garrett on bass and the dude from Talk Talk on guitar.
Shit, These new vibes from AFI are exactly what I needed and will need this summer. Absolutely love the new wave/post-punk influence on these songs. Hunters bass lines are melting me!
WHAT IS THIS AND WHY IS IT SO PERFECT!
I always loved how AFI changed up their style, and THIS is everything I love about them, it's something fresh, and unlike anything they've done before and I adore it!
Been a fan back before sing the sorrow days thanks for still providing the soundtrack to our lives
When i listen to these songs lately, all i can think of is i can’t wait for live shows!
My exact thought with this song; can't wait to hear it live!
I've adored AFI since forever. And this song is just feeding that love. One of their best tracks and one of my favorite songs ever
The vibes on this song and video woke up something on me , it gave me chills ; reminds me the first time i heard AFI ; they're so unique . Viva AFI carajo !!!
I havent moved in 2 hours. and I've probably listened to it 25 times now lol. same
gracias por existir AFI, saludos desde Colombia
i like AFI. i listen them 10 years. love with first to last song
this is great. the whole world needs this band to come back with the same type of music they used to make (not competing against the music of today. They have music that can dominate the music today, they just have to play it
Jade playing Robert Smith's guitar.
I thought they somehow went full circle in Blood album, then Missing Man started to break, cause a fracture, now they somehow shattered any illusion of wholeness, and are continuing to change and hold nothing back. Jade said this was a weird album, and it is, even for AFI. This albums going to be something I cannot describe other than Depeche Mode-like or something...80’s?
Definitely some Dreamcar vibes in here so Depeche Mode vibes for sure. Makes me really want to hear the rest of this album and understand what it's supposed to be as a whole.
First, I am not hating on afi. But Fuck no depeche mode are unique. They never changed their music or sound to adapt to a different crowd. They were who they were. I loved them for it. Where as the same can not be said about afi. Thats why I can't listen to afi anymore. They did sell out and now want to sound like other bands that are famous. That's why they lost a lot of their old fans. They have no identity they keep, sounding so generic now. No energy. This is My opinion, we all have them. But afi got so famous now that they are so lost in Hollywood that Idk what to expect from them anymore. Time to get my tats blacked out of the old days. They are no longer hardcore or even close to being that way anymore. Ive learned to accept it. But damn, I never thought they go this deep.
@@gunnnervader7396 The way I see it, AFI has always been divisive in that sense. Their identity is that they're everchanging. Their sound evolves with each album. They might have one or two sequential albums that are similar, but they've been changing ever since I've known them. To me, AFI is change. As people get older, their influences may change. The feelings of angst and despair might change into different feelings. I remember when Sing The Sorrow came out, fans were talking about how they sold out. It happens every era. Some people stick around, some don't and it's okay. The albums they created aren't going anywhere if you prefer that music, it's available. I respect them for doing what inspires them; I never saw it as selling out. Thanks for sharing your opinion, it's what makes music so special.
@@AthanCondax I respect your opinion too. Problem I get is these new fan take this so personal if I talk shit. So, I learned to do it nicely. But the old fans like myself stuck with this band when they were ready to quit. We went to shows and it was punk. Problem with going to another sound is to all punkers it is a sell out!!! To a new fan base. I would love to see these new fan base go to an old show. They would have gotten beat up. Evolve is getting better. Not worse. As much as I respect your opinion I disagree. STS was the end of the real afi to me. They still brought a hardcore sound in. IT was DU that went totally another direction then every album just got worse. I supported this band since 92 and Im a punker till I die. That means rancid, bad religion and pennywise. Reason I disagree was because these bands are all better than afi and have evolved and Bad religion is basically the God fathers of punk like Social D. See rancid had that same opportunity as afi to go to another famous label. They didn't want too. They stayed true to their sound and fans. They are much older than afi. So, when pple say they get older and change sound. That to me is a cop out. To me its nothing more than fame. I mean look at how many pple are into afi now. TOTALLY SOLD OUT. They would never have the fans these days with out us old fans. Just pisses me off. But again it is what it is.
@@gunnnervader7396 to me that comes off as entitlement. It seems as if you feel liked you’re owed something because they used to be punk and you supported them when they were less mainstream. What if the band broke up in 2002? What would the difference be? If you feel like they sold out 18 years ago, then what are you holding on to? The AFI you fondly miss is gone. They’ll be preserved forever in the albums they’ve left behind. No one is forcing you to listen to it, so why do you put yourself through all of this disappointment? It’s been many years that they’ve been changing their sound. If you’re still unhappy with it, that’s on you.
Also, fuck yeah Rancid and Bad Religion kick fucking ass.
Sooo obsessed with this song that I hear the word "Dulcería" here in Mexico and my mind begins to play the song!
Very, Duran Duran. But that voice! Like 🧈.....
Way cool guys! This song gave me some "the cure" vibes - but with Daveys amazing vocals.

What a gorgeous track. Such an unexpected but exciting evolution.
First, Hunters Bass is everything in this song ❤️Every time I think these beautiful boys can't possibly get better, they go and release something like this. it's fascinating to hear that early 2000s AFI sound in a completely new way. I missed those ethereal notes man
Channeling so much I hear elements of” the Cure” and “ Morrissey Day” and “Siouxsie and the Banshees” the transformation they make is unbelievable. I absolutely love it.

The way he sings “Dulceria” is so satisfying . Love the song
I haven't listened to them much since Crash Love (not a bad thing, people have different tastes and things change), this is pretty good though. I like it.
