    Great video! I would suggest making a more in-depth video on how to edit the audio of an entire short film, covering things like how to integrate music and dialogue, how loud each should be, and how to blend in sound effects.

    My UA-cam algorithm suggested this episode to watch, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed it, as I self taught myself the same steps as you, apart form the teeny-tiny fine tuning bit of the Compressor and Gain. I will definitely be using those little tips.

    Thank you very much for sharing Timothy! That already helped a loooot. Unfortunately I am editing a stage play, with actors whoi are pretty silent and others who are pretty loud; plus the ambience, music tracks inbetween and and and... I am afraid I won't be able to adjust the overall audio to a level that would sound realy professional. I used a Sennheiser Boom connected to a Zoom F3. I am a hobbyist only and do all of my work for free and charity. 🙂 An is it correct that I only see one audio track in Fairlight? Thank you! 🙂

    Is there a reason why you use the vocal channel plug in instead of the compressor in the 'Dynamics' section? I'm asking only because I often use that one to take advantage of the automatic audio ducking. Is there a difference between the two? I know that the Dynamics section doesn't have a High Pass. But, I suppose I can use the Vocal Channel plug in for that.

    • @drtimv
      @drtimv  2 роки тому +3

      For simplicity and speed of workflow. The multiband compressor has a lot of power, but the single band included with vocal channel offers a speedier workflow and achieves the results I'm looking for. No harm in using the multiband though!

    • @drtimv
      @drtimv  2 роки тому

      Yes, this is possible. Let's say I have background noise on the word "today". I'd find a point in the audio where I say "today" and there's no background noise, or I'd record a new version, then I would place that onto a new track and align it so it happens at the same time as the noisy version. Then when you've got the timing right, drag and drop it onto your first track to replace the noisy word. I hope that helps.
