    Great video! I would suggest making a more in-depth video on how to edit the audio of an entire short film, covering things like how to integrate music and dialogue, how loud each should be, and how to blend in sound effects.

    Good and simple tutorial! But, isn't that compression ratio way too high?

    • @drtimv

      For UA-cam? It’s aggressive but very effective for mobile speaker playback. For music or broadcast media? Too aggressive.

    Mate audio is my nemesis, I have a voice like a walrus chewing a hedgehog which doesn't help, anyway this seems pretty quick and easy cheers. Do yo do this to each clip individually or can you highlight all the clips to make the adjustments. Liked and subbed, really appreciate it.

    is there a way in DaVinci, even the paid version, for the waveforms to update after applying a compressor. It just makes it easier to see the adjustments made.

    Hello,
    Could you please help me.
    Each time a record a screen (video) with my voice (audio) and I try to edit them with DaVinci Resolve 18,5 Beta, the sound cuts off at around 1,05 minute... I tried with manny footages, I'm facing with the same issue.
    It works well with iMovie.
    If you have any idea, please tell me.
    Thank you.

    Oh how frustrating. Under my A1 I have: Input, Track FX, Order and Audio 1. I don't have Effects, Dynamics, EQ etc. As I was writing this comment, I discovered that the list under A1 is scrollable, and hides under the Audio 1 label. My computer is set up for old man eyes -- magnification 125%. I turned off the screen magnification, and found the effects option I need.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Question: can you please recommend the best external plug-ins for DaVinci Resolve 18 for the best possible film dialogue? For some reason, I often end up with audio that is "close" but not quite there... maybe a little "metallic" or a little "boomy," or whatever. But rarely truly great.

    Is there a reason why you use the vocal channel plug in instead of the compressor in the 'Dynamics' section? I'm asking only because I often use that one to take advantage of the automatic audio ducking. Is there a difference between the two? I know that the Dynamics section doesn't have a High Pass. But, I suppose I can use the Vocal Channel plug in for that.

    This guy is way off the mark for dramatic dialogue audio editing. Maybe this is good for promo videos, but if you do this to your dramatic story, you'll remove all the nuances of your actor's performance.

    • @drtimv
      @drtimv  Рік тому

      100% agree - if you use this for dramatic content intended for film or TV release the compression ratio is overkill. However, the intended audience for this is fellow UA-camrs. If you're not a UA-camr, this tutorial still holds up, just back off on the compression ratio to fit your taste, mood, and style.

    Hi there,
    Is there a way to replay a audio section from a video and make it sound like the original voice. I just want to replace a single word of the dialog but pretend that the voice is coming from the original audio?

    • @drtimv
      @drtimv  2 роки тому

      Yes, this is possible. Let's say I have background noise on the word "today". I'd find a point in the audio where I say "today" and there's no background noise, or I'd record a new version, then I would place that onto a new track and align it so it happens at the same time as the noisy version. Then when you've got the timing right, drag and drop it onto your first track to replace the noisy word. I hope that helps.

    • @_kaverna
      @_kaverna 2 роки тому

      @@drtimv That I can do. What I am trying to achieve though is to mimic the voice tonality. As the voice on the video is not mine. I wonder if they are some sound effects that could make you sound more like the original audio clip!

    • @drtimv
      @drtimv  2 роки тому

      @@_kaverna you can adjust your pitch and your formant using a plugin like Melodyne and that can get you pretty close. You could also construct a word from the original by slicing out the consonant and vowel combinations you need and then stringing them together with cross fades in between.
