this was such an uncomfortable scene to go into blind while playing it next to my husband. I had Astarion and my actual husband judging the fuck out of me, and no idea what I was in for both in game and in real life.
After 20 years together my husband is surprised by nothing. We play our separate games in the same room and every once in a while he'll glance over at my screen, see what's going on, and just shake his head in resignation like "I'm not sure what I expected, but that makes sense" lmao.

Also, from this dialogue, it seemed to me that I "lost" (although I have no idea how one can "win" here) and there's actually a cutscene you can stumble into in Lower City. Without spoiling too much, Astarion does address the situation, or at least its consequences, then.

I played as Astarion in my latest playthrough. I made a save file and chose to sleep with Haarlep, and I discovered that he has a uniq line: “I already lived an eternity devoted to pleasure, and it was rather dull” and Haarlep is chocked he was able to resist them. Astarion then pushes them off him and a fight ensures. I love that they keep surprising us with this Origin specific dialogue options.

I can't imagine not giving Haarlep a go lol, he's one of my favorite NPCs... My party failed to jump along with me to the back entrance of the boudoir when we were exploring (didn't realize until it was too late and just decided to view it as "the party split up to cover more rooms" in my head) so it was just my guy when the cutscene triggered and being alone made the decision pretty guilt-free haha. It feels like it'd be a lot more awkward to have your whole party watching and judging you in the background.
this is the most cringest scene "to have your whole party watching and judging you in the background." I've ever seen there's a rape going on and everyone's standing around watching.

At least afterwards Astarion is confirmed to understand the gravity of what just happened, everyone else makes judgy or snarky remarks which :/ I mean, it definitely makes sense for Astarion to get it having a history of sexual coercion himself, but the fact that literally none of the rest of the party get it upsets me a little. It's unfortunately realistic, but it'd be nice for at least one of two others to understand rather than just "the one other victim of sexual violence" Actually not even that, Halsin was a sex slave and he didn't get it.
@@Floweramon Hm, maybe if the companions had reacted like they do with the Zaith'isk device it could have worked better with them being there? With that scene, all of them but Gale (and I think Lae'zel) express their initial skepticsm with some even telling you 'don't do it' and others, like Astarion, not outright disapproving but pretty clearly being on the fence. Finally, once you're in the device and it's clear what's happening, they start really freaking out and telling you to get tf out of there (again, besides Lae'zel, I believe). But like I said, I think the whole encounter in the HoH would have been more awkward with the companions just standing there with no commentary, so I'm glad it happened to my MC while he was on his own. Before you get to the point of no return/saving throws, you have multiple opportunities to back out and attack Haarlep if you don't want to go through with it. It was a decision that was in character for MC who is down for anything (be it a bear, another devil, the drow twins, a vampire, a mindflayer, etc lol) so he went for it, and I personally really enjoy Haarlep as a character so I'm glad it was there. I got Astarion's dialogue afterwards and it felt like good RP for both Astarion and my MC, which I appreciated. They're NOT on the same page about it, which I liked for the story/their characterization. My MC said that he "might as well enjoy it" and Astarion responded that he "once thought that way too" - and I like that they're in different places about these sorts of conservations (even though it doesn't go further beyond that, unfortunately), it adds interest to their dynamic (imo). I'll have to look up what the other companions say in response - it seems like they all have pretty in-depth perspectives/feelings if you sleep with Mizora (except Astarion who seemed fine with it in my game)... which makes it really odd there is so little regarding Haarlep. The House of Hope is one of the highlights of the game, in my opinion, but I can absolutely see that it would not be everyone's taste.
Same the first time I did it. My second playthrough I wanted to try pushing Haarlep when he was asking to sell my body/soul because I wanted to see what would happen. But they managed to follow me. THIS MADE THINGS EXTREMELY AWKWARD

I was roleplaying a Tav who, while he hated fiends, couldn't help but also feel attracted by them. He admitted back in act 2 that he kinda liked Raphael but wouldn't admit it in front of him. So, yeah, at that point, an *incubus* with Raphael's face? My Tav was immediately under his spell. He didn't realize the gravity of what he was doing when he gave Haarlep his body. I was so happy I got Astarion's reaction later and not someone else's. My poor boy definitely didn't need someone to yell at him as he was only starting to realize the meaning of selling his body
I walked into this scene with bard Tav and decided that I was gonna take one for the team, we needed those spells slots. Gale judged the **** out of me, Astarion was all 'well... uhm...' and Shadowheart was into it *facepalms*. Ah my ride or die trio and their stupid creampuff bard-Tav
Here's the worst part, if you got a perception check correct then you could've had restoration from the faucets of the giant bath. It basically acts like you long rested and one simple click would help yourself to the entire party if in proximity

My group and I have played for 15 years now and our games have always gone into the territory of left field. Truly, this game has its moments where I'm reminded of our game-master and the sick, twisted and absolutely hilarious moments they come up with. Thank you for the video!
When I went into that room for the first time and saw him on the bed I started running in circles trying to avoid the confrontation for as long as possible 😂. I can only imagine party's reaction to that type of Tav's behaviour

My first playthrough of this scene was so rough, I wasn't expected to get...I'm pretty sure YT would censor that word, but let's just say Astarion could understand the ick of this moment better than anyone.
I wasn’t proud of this *event* in my play through. And I got there with another teammate alone, cause the others got stuck, they where not able to jump around.
this is why going back to the hells is the best ending. we will go to war together and fight until we have her freedom. no more of the fucking loneliness.
I also think astarion says something if you do it? i didn’t have the heart to find out myself (bc gods no) but i remember seeing a clip where he’s like “what are you doing darling this isn’t safe” or something along those lines 🥺🥺🥺
Accidentally started this scene with Karlach alone. I thought it was an excellent idea because she definitely deserved some and, being a demon, he wasn’t going to catch fire. Shame I had to have her kill him halfway through.
