The MILITARY disqualified him... so people look down on HIM for not doing regular military duty as if he's getting special treatment! SMH... To me it is discrimination to make a person serve MORE months because a documented injury and surgery. Not only is he serving but he has been staying extra quiet so as not to cause anymore comment about his modified public service as he didn't want it to reflect negatively on BTS or Hybe. Until the kickboard incident we hadn't had even a small text message from him. The other 6 guys sent small notes on holidays, birthdays, Festa, etc. but Suga didn't even though he has missed BTS ARMYs so much. This ridiculousness over the electric kickboard was truly kicking someone when they were already down. The press there even forced him to stand in a photo line for pictures and harassed. The photo was used in the past for severe criminals like thieves or if someone was killed or badly injured. It's been ruled unconstitutional in South Korea... but the press staked out the police station where Suga needed to go for "questioning" and basically blocked the only entrance so that he had to stand where the photo lines have been traditionally held. BTS ARMY made these people pay with a media lockout... by down voting all these articles with the photo line pics or not clicking on them... and clicking on other articles instead so they came to the top. Because some of these crooked media outlets published fake CCTV videos of Suga and incorrect news... they were reported to social media platforms for misinformation. Several of them were temporarily shutdown. In the meantime ARMY streamed his music continuously and caused several of his and BTS songs that were years old to once again enter the top 10. He was riding it at a walking speed on the sidewalk and wearing a helmet. He fell down in front of his home while making a turn to enter the house. There has long been a cultural imperative to be polite in Japan, or at least inoffensive. That is the public face, but at home, when drunk , or with good friends, that face can come off. You mention the TV ads. Did you watch much late night TV? It gets pretty raunchy.

The Russia work break thing: One, spouses rarely work at the same job. So basically you're encouraging cheating which isn't exactly a situation conducive to raising a family. Two, that is definitely promoting harassment of your coworkers. Three, "being busy is not a valid reason" is deliberately phrased in such a way as to undermine any attempt to say no for any reason. It is meant to diminish consent. This exists in a zone between comical and disturbed and it's all a slap in the face of real hurdles to raising children like lack of financial and social stability. Germany is NOT the birth place of German Chocolate Cake. German chocolate cake originated in Dallas, Texas in 1957. The cake's name comes from Samuel German, who created a sweet baking chocolate for the Baker's Chocolate Company in the 1850s. The chocolate was named after him.
Whoa. Germany was not the birthplace of German Chocolate Cake. The cake recipe first appeared on the wrapper of a chocolate bar made in Philadelphia from the German Chocolate Company. Hence the name. By the way, can anyone still find it? Why has red food dye cake, um, Red Velvet, seemingly replace G Choc as the old fashioned variety everyone offers today?
Exactly. Thanks for saving me the effort. It's German's Chocolate Cake. Minor pet peeve, as I grew up with this and fondly remember those big blocks of chocolate. I didn't know what baking chocolate was and when my mother agreed to let me have some I was so delighted. I have never forgiven her for that, or that little smile after my squeals of anguish. How could she!! Accuracy matters. And yes, you can still find it. I'm sure my mother would have complained to me by now if she couldn't! lol. And by the by, Red Velvet is not a cake flavor. I don't care what anyone says. It's just a color, and that has nothing to do with flavor! Rage on, my friend!
@tammyd.970 red velvet was once a difficult baking process with a chemical reaction resulting in a deep red and very fine-textured cake. Now. Forget the award-winning texture and add red food color, and it's 'red velvet cake for dummies'.

In the end he was only used by Korean media to cover up their discovered drvg circle and a murd3r by a politician's wife. And who knows what more.

Yoongi's drunk scooter thing is so funny to me
The Korean media hounded him for almost 6 weeks with innuendos, speculations, and lies with a carefully planned public assassination of his character!!!!! You do know they did this with the Oscar award winning movie Parasite actor Lee Sun-Kyun? Publicly bullying and humiliating him for 5 months until he ended his life in late December 2023 by committing suicide!!!! SK has a horrible bullying problem and high young adult suicide rates!
We ourselves are shocked by what is happening in South Korea.🤣
Poor Yoongi. Unfair treatment all around
Than man Suga of bts, he is leaves his career for 18 months to serve his country doing military service, and look how that country paid him back, poor him
Suga is doing social service work so his service time is actually 21 months. The South Korea general public has always treated BTS horribly.
@@crystalsnow1138Yes... It's even worse because his shoulder injury disqualified him from full military service (he still had to do basic training)... so he has to do this social work instead. And because of that many in the Korean public look down on him as if 21 months of not being able to live your own life is a picnic! Last week some antis sent a ton of giant funeral wreaths to hisvagency saying he should leave BTS ARMY took care of that too. #BTSis7 #SugaStays

The Suga scandal was ridiculous. I hope he knows us foreigners saw the backlash as excessive.
I really do hope he knows- that first apology I was flabbergasted he even felt the need to do that. And I write him a message telling him we didn’t care about this and we’re supporting him because it was ridiculous.
I mean, he is South Korean, so he probably is accustomed to the penalty. He took his lumps like a champ which is commendable. What we see as excessive he may not because he has grown up with it. That's my read from talking/watching to E. Asians who deal with similar situations
Lmfaooo the scooter incident shocked me.
To give you some more context for the ridiculousness of the situation: He was riding an e-scooter just like the one shown in the picture but with a seat. He was riding it at a walking speed on the sidewalk and wearing a helmet. He fell down in front of his home while making a turn to enter the house. And he was drunk, that's true but clearly not drunk enough to not be in control. While that country has its own laws, the way the media and the police dragged him for months, made him write two apology letters, threatened him that if he does not appear before the media and bow his head down, it won't "reflect well on him" (which he finally had to do), wrote THOUSANDS of articles within a span of 2 months, abusing him, and spreading false rumours and footages (which were proven wrong when the real CCTV footage was disclosed) was disgusting! S.Korea, to me, is a joke at this point. It's a ridiculous country to be honest!
@@ananyaa6664 💯% correct. 👍

The messed up part about the Suga story is that he wasnt even on the street, he was driving the scooter around in his OWN DRIVEWAY!

One of my favorite things about living in Japan was actually just how lovely tv ads are there. Aggressive are not a thing. Mot ads are designed to delight you into giving them your time, which I really appreciate as a consumer and as a human being on earth.
The variety shows on the other hand... xD
Really? Because that made my face cramp from cringing so hard.
There has long been a cultural imperative to be polite in Japan, or at least inoffensive. That is the public face, but at home, when drunk , or with good friends, that face can come off. You mention the TV ads. Did you watch much late night TV? It gets pretty raunchy.

The thing is he wasn't even essentially "intoxicated". They smelled alcohol on him and till this day, the BAC level was never confirmed by the police. He took a sharp turn right in front of his gate and tripped and some police men happened to be in the area in that moment.
This young man, Suga was treated worse than a criminal. Even hardened criminals don't get half as much media coverage.
Their ex president's daughter was drink driving a car recently, there was property damage and I think people were hurt, but it was glossed over. However, they made suga stand in a photoline like a criminal. It's ridiculous to say the least.

That BTS guy one scandal was funny. But paying that much fine for a e scooter😮😮
The saddest thing about the whole situation was that the guy was dragged through hell for this. The South Korean media wrote 1000s of articles non-stop for months and threatened him to appear before the media or lose his chance of ever being on tv. Fans of other kpop singers sent trucks and wreathe of 100000s of dollars in front of his company asking him to apologize and leave the group. The Russia work break thing: One, spouses rarely work at the same job. So basically you're encouraging cheating which isn't exactly a situation conducive to raising a family.
I really like how he covered Suga’s news
Coulbert, you nailed it, all the more reason BTS should come here again
Research needs a scolding too... German Chocolate cake is named after a guy with the last name "German" it was invented in Dallas Texas.
Breathe. This is comedy.
Where are your pills?

I used to have lots of affection for the country and whatever came out of it, but seeing an innocent man dragged through hell with thousands of malicious articles, police photo lines, and horrible wreaths, without a single person from Korea (a country that most people globally look at now because of the same artist) standing up to defend him, has sadly put me off the entire country.
Same for me. The fake BAC , the fake CCTV footage and how they treated him , it was clear that it was all intentional. What the police and the media did to Suga was a crime. I lost all interest in SK and completely changed my opinion about it.
The things is because he is suga
Stephen's humour department also having a rough night 😅
He is absolutely right!! You are right
Time stamps for people who don't want to listen to the horrible globe character:
0:46 - South Korea
1:21 - Japan
2:27 - Russia
3:57 - Germany
5:08 - Italy
Russia bit, at the onset made twice as hilarious by Stephen's reaction to the "cake in the breakroom" graphic, with his gestures and sound effects. 🤣
Then, the later graphic with a condom, lol, good call on calling that out.
we here in germany are just waiting for us to tell you:
"how could you have voted for him ... twice" o_0
Some americans will have voted for him three times: 2016, 2020 , 2024.
Not just us Germans, it will be the whole civilized world asking: "How could you have made him president...twice?"
@@sigurdkaputnik7022 well but especially us germans *wink* *wink* hitler hitler hitler. How could we have allowed for him to get into power? One of those reacurring questions we as germans are often faced when in conversation with others.
Before the keyboard player's fingers hit the keys, something about the way he looked at that piece of paper told me: "We're about to hear the intro to 'Don't stop believing' by Journey". 😂.
It felt fantastic to know I was right. Now, if only I could... hold on to that feeling. 😉
Stop no way they have Niki doing some potato ad 😂
And yes SK has a problem with how successful BTS are so of course a scooter incident gets turned into a witch hunt. They are just so professional over there airing the wrong CCTV making the public think he’s the worst person alive 🙄
Now I'm 100% sure that there are some real gamers in the writers' room at Colbert !
