- Whilst not quite Naughty Dog's magnum opus; Uncharted 4 cements them as quite possibly the best development team working today. Uncharted 4 = mandatory to play.

The Unusual Suspect has low key become better than most video game reviewers/critics.
Love the new review layout. Very professional and smart, suits these critical reviews and helps them stand out from your more comedic Suspect episodes. Keep up the good work, mate ;)
SPOILERS:
Yeah, I believe Sam should've definitely died. It would of been perfect. Sam got into his own mess by trying to get Avery's treasure. It would have been great way to end and he would have died learning a lesson. Nathan would also permanently learned a lesson and it would make more sense for him not to live this kind of life anymore. Great review by the way.
True enough, cause at the end, I thought that was gonna happen. But.. I thought about it like this. How many times has Nate got himself into stupid situations due to his pride and such? (That was the whole plot point for Uncharted 3)
If we apply that logic to Nate, he should've died 10 times over. I'm not defending it, I'm just pointing out that Nate has done just as stupid, if not stupider decisions. (Uncharted 2 with the train segment) I think the near death experience for both Nate and Sam was enough, since it reminded them both of the danger of this life and also reminded Nate why he left in the first place.
No it would really be cheap and a hell of a lot less fulfilling if he just would have died (a second time around) at the end after going through all of this to save him, plus it would have devastated Nate the 2nd time around and we didn't need that. This series is all the better for ending on a high note than on some downer. The real lessons was not to let obsession and pride take over whats important. Family. So, Nate didn't have to give up a life of adventures. Thanks to Elena realizing that adventure will always be a part of who he is and they are, because that "normal" life wasn't doing it for them. And thanks to Sam for gold, they manage to approach in more legal, more practical, more safer ways
@@Ryan-ez4kf The sad thing about Sam Drake too is he didn't nearly have the support his brother Nathan does in the form of Sully and Elena. So all Sam had were his tricks, street smarts, and pride in finding Avery's pirate treasure. So, of course, he was going to trick Nathan into joining him even if it means upending his peaceful lifestyle and potentially ruining his relationships with Sully and Elena
Suspect, thank you for recomending this series to me! I'm currently playing the Drake Collection, Among Thieves is freaking amazing!
Suspect brings up a good point. The game had a couple moments where you can pick a dialogue for Nathan, but no matter which one, it'll end in the same way. The ending could've been another roleplay moment - choosing between saving Sam and abandoning the treasure OR fighting Rafe FOR the treasure and letting Sam die, but Nathan becomes bitter from taking only a pittance of treasure and he loses Elena and Sully.
I have to agree with the last point, Naughty Dog is right now the BEST development team out there right now, and I'm not sure who could be considered second at the moment.
CD Projeckt Red. And if Cyberpunk 2077 is as good as Witcher 3, I might even call them better than Naughty Dog.
Kuroda Kazuki
Nintendo's new team. The guys who made Breath of the Wild, ARMS, Splatoon and Mario Odyssey. They are fucking brilliant.
It all went down hill this year shame.
I got to meet Nolan North at Rhode Island Comic-Con 2016 today. I could never be happier.
Tiny little nit pick with this review. You said R1 to go flying across the air with the grappling hook, when it's L1. Great review though. You are the one that made me get this game and I'm so glad I did.
Seriously? 😂
@@robogreek3157 mate I was like 13 when I wrote this comment 😂
Great review as usual.
as UNUSUAL YAAAASSS FINALLY A GREAT PUN
It's okay. I do the cameraman thing too.
This game looks absolutely stunning. I was hoping you would review this. You surely have a good taste in games and movies. I wish I had a bloody PS4 rather than a Xbox One in this case..
8:41 no, I pretty much always do it when I'm on top a tower or roof in the batman arkham games. Great review by the way, Suspect
08:41 that's one of my favorite things to do in games with beautiful world's to explore even if uncharted is more open wo4ld linear it's nice to know the developers don't slack off when it comes to world building and set pieces
You used a snibit of them form Digimon World. Sith Lord Dammit i love you dude!!! I swear that crazy game was like 20 percent of my childhood along with Digimon Card Battle whose themes still hold up today when i get in a need to be creative or motivated mood
Yeah I totally didnt expect him to put digimon world music, the first one is definitely a classic it was kinda rough around the edges depending on the version.
Nice choice of background music both the original Digimon World and the original Rayman have great soundtracks.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said about this game in this review. I’ve always had a similar view of it. Some things I’ve phrased similarly, such as the engaging humour, gameplay, and visuals, the beautifully told story, loveable characters with terrific performances, the free climbing platforming being a huge part of Uncharted, etc. I basically share the same thoughts as you do, but you took the words right out of my mouth, and you said it better than I could’ve.
Thanks for the review! I have a PS4 bundle in mind with the Uncharted Trilogy, Uncharted 4 and Rachet and Clank all included, so this has made my decision to get it, so kudos.
Best Uncharted 4 review I've seen so far.
This is the best review of the game I've seen yet, which I was expecting, since your reviews are always fantastic.
The Micro Transactions bit is soooooo funny! Hands down the funniest Critical Review moment so far
this game is literally the best game to have come out this generation. Thank god as well.
this and the last of us and uncharted 2 and gta v
Wow that is low. Come on people he just reviewed The amazing spider-man 2 and is going to review Attack of the clones, give the guy a break!
Sorry suspect I haven't played the other games and you talk about the story so I can't watch it, but I'll skip ahead to the end so you get a little more money for your hard work! Maybe this is why the views are so low who knows.
+Leon Lind 21:50 is when he talks about multiplayer your good
The singleplayer is in 30fps because it's rendered in 1080p resolution, where as the multiplayer is a bit lower (can't remember the exact amount, something weird like 900p). The difference in graphics is not really noticeable but they wanted the singleplayer to look as good as it could and sacrificed the framerate, which I found annoying at first but honestly after playing the game I didn't care because it looked so good. Also as speculation I'd say another reason is possibly the fact that there are a lot of high speed moments in the singleplayer that aren't in the multiplayer, so they didn't want the framerate suddenly dropping by huge amounts in those scenes and preferred the whole game to stay a fairly stable 30fps.
8:37 You're not the only one; I love doing the same thing in games that have gorgeous views!
Great stuff, the first of your video game reviews I've watched as I'm not a massive gamer. This was grand though - thanks US.
Also loved the 22:55 mini rant, lovely film cut :D
Obi-wan: You were the chosen one!
You were supposed to say "F*** you!" to microgame transactions not get in on the action! Bring balance to the gaming within us!
Obi-wan: Not leave it in darkness!
Nice new suit, Ross!
Dude you are one of my favourite youtubers of all time !
I have a ps4 and am in the last charter in uc4, I must say it is one of the greatest games I have played
Well at least The Unusual Suspect gave this game the review it rightfully deserves, unlike a certain Corporate Joe, or was it the Angry Video Game Commander?
Hey man, I've watched your videos for probably 2 years now. I love your movie reviews and movie mashups, and the mashups inspired me to make "if the office was a horror movie" (kind of similar to your monsters inc and Prometheus mashup). Let me know what you think!
I really love your reviews, both game and movie. The graphics on this game is awesome. It looks like you're watching a live-action movie.
Hi Ross massive fan of both you and uncharted
18:43 Nice touch playing the PS1 Spider-Man game theme when talking about the swinging sections
Why is no one comparing the grappling hook to indies whip. Like when he grappled the back of that truck and was sliding on the ground, or when he's swinging around? It's just odd that i haven't heard anybody compare them or make a reference. Not in a copy cat way, in a that's awesome way.
I’d like to point out that you can straight up reload combat encounters on the load screen, allowing you to start in the middle of your favorite action sequence.
I recently finished *Uncharted: Golden Abyss* on the PSVITA and the enemy variety is kinda the same as *Uncharted 4*. Except instead of 90% of enemies being an army, it's literally 100%. In fact, in *Golden Abyss*, you'll be fighting 2 armies.
Nope, you're not the only one, I love making a slow panning shot.
Really like the new approach to your game reviews, Mr. Suspect. BTW, have you played May's other big release: Doom?
Not yet; I actually have never even played the original Doom. So I think I should go back and play that first.
Great review i mostly agree with you. I didint like how they simplified the fighting but I think it was right choise to leave the monsters out from this game.
Love the new design on your videos man!
23:12: References to this scene never get old. Well done!
Is it the Digimon's soundtrack from ps1 during all the review ? Love it ahah :)
And great review by the way ! 100% true and the best i've seen on this game !
Good ear; yes it is; I get so nostalgic about that game :)
Most in-depth review I've seen. Great job, Suspect. :)
Another great video and as always good job Suspect two thumbs up.👍👍
The Unsual Suspect the game is rendered at 900p in multiplayer that's how they are able to achieve 60 fps whereas in the single player is rendered at 1080p hence the difference + one of the team members also said that 60 fps in campaign was possible but we would have to wait another year.
Rafe was freaking insane. A soft spoken villain that could snap at any moment.
Great to see a new video mate👍
6:45 very clever choice of music
That Crash Bandicoot music. Genius.
Awesome review dude!
Great job!
Loved the inclusion of the theme from Crash Bandicoot one of the also best franchises made by Naughty Dog
The multiplayer is going to have free updates, with new modes and maps. At least that is what they promised.
And they tried to do 60fps with 1080p, but it simply doesnt work, the multiplayer runs at 60fps but with a resolution of 900p.
Oh and nice video by the way^^
Hey suspect would you consider reviewing the Evil Dead movies around Halloween?
4:27 technically there is a reference to her in the attic at the beginning and also then lost legacy came along coz we couldn't go without more uncharted and Chloe
Nice use of Digimon World music there buddy 👌
No, you are not the only one. In the Lord Of The Rings Online i often go to weathertop to pretend i am the cameraman
Glad to know what I'm getting into on this one! I got the ND collection last year and I've finished 1 and 2 (almost done with 3). A few gripes I've had with the franchise in general are lackluster villains and side characters. While I do like Nate as a character I kinda wished he was given more development (3 thankfully gave this to me). 4 looks to be a more personal journey for Nate so I'll be looking forward to this game! Will you also do a Persona 5 review? It was announced to be released in Japan on September and this E3 will possibly show the US date.
Yeah, I'd love to do a Persona 5 review, I got around to playing 4 last year and absolutely loved it :)
+The Unusual Suspect Glad you loved it! The Persona 4 cast is easily my favorite group of RPG characters! Though knowing Atlus, it might take awhile for P5 to get to Europe. 3rd party companies tend to get these games released over there.
Great review. Have you played Uncharted: Golden Abyss?
I haven't actually; never got a Vita.
The Unusual Suspect I'd definitely recommend it if you pick one up. :)
im glad I'm not the only one who thought the journals in 1, 2, 3 were interesting in the slightest lol
GREAT Review Suspect hay can i ask you something do you like Sonic the Hedgehog.
Since you seem to love it too, can you review LA confidential. I love that movie. I love the mystery of it but coming from the perspective of a LA Noire fan it was just perfect.
I recently got a ps4 and, because of your recommendation, I got uncharted Nathan drake and... THANK... YOU. I LOVE THIS GAME, and I've only gotten through the first one. I cant wait for the next two. Out of curiosity, how would you order these games? What's your favorite to your least favorite?
I remember this game was gotten some anit hype because the writer of the series left but its good to know the game still holds up.
Yes you were right Suspect, Naughty Dog wanted the Campaign to be 60fps but with all the effects and what not 60fps wasn't possible the only reason the multiplayer was 60fps was because they lowered the resolution to 900p where as the campaign is displayed at 1080p.
Still looks amazing even at 30, so who cares? lol
Makes sense. The multiplayer set pieces are noticeably less-detailed than the singleplayer ones.
When's your collab with Professor Juice?
EDIT: Damnit, now I crave a jar of peach juice but I have no peach juice! :(
You certainly like using the Digimon World 1 Soundtrack :D you have a good taste :)
Please review Star Wars Battlefront (PS4 XBOX PC)!!
That would be hard as it doesn't really have a story
Yarn Ozyzc the second one does.
great review!
Oh, and did you use Digimon World soundtrack on 6:20? kudos if you did!
nevermind, you used plenty of tracks from the game (just heard File City's theme). Oh, the memories.
9:40 that was my favourite part of U4
As usual a great analysis thx suspect
Who else knew that this was why the Attack of the Clones review wasn't started yet?
i agree about the cannon dilemma bit. i was so suspended and was about to shed a tear... but!
Yeah, I was relieved but disappointed at the same time. If that makes any sense.
+The Unusual Suspect ik what your saying, you were disappointed that they left out what could have been an amazing dynamic, but your happy that sam is still alive considering the development of his character.
personally i realized the love sam had for nate, and the way they wrote it i wanted to see sam consumed by his obsession to the point of ultimate sacrifice, considering the theme that they pushed "we reap the due reward of our deeds"
i wouldve liked a more battlefield 4 style choice, or a spider-man 3 style sacrifice, which wouldve added both emotional weight and repeatability. also nates struggle of losing his brother, possibly for the 2nd time depending on choice, wouldve been nice to see
but im beyond nitpicking, and i agree, 9/10 was appropriate, and all things considered, this was like the perfect sendoff for uncharted, the goddamn "LOTR: ROTK" ending for adventure games.
I'll say this with Uncharted 4. It does A LOT to improve on the systems of 3 and even adds a few elements from The Last Of Us. But, I will not deny that it makes a few changes that baffle me. But, I still enjoyed this game from beginning to end. The gameplay was fun, the graphics were FREAKIN beautiful, (Do not deny those moments you were staring at a landscape saying 'wow...' half the time) it was great to see some of my favorite characters again for one more adventure and I honestly felt this game had a lot of character behind it.
BUT! I still think Uncharted 2 is the best in the series. That game was technological marvel for it's time. It was the first to blend the ideas of both a game and a movie. The characters and story were memorable as all hell and honestly, it felt the most polished. Hell, this is even strongly reflected in the collection on PS4.
If I were to rank the series from Favorite to least, here's how I would.
1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
2. Uncharted 4: A Thieves End.
3. Uncharted 1: Drakes Fortune.
4. Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception.
And please note, where I placed these games mean very little since they are ALL quality games and none of em are bad. (Not even close) And no I never played Golden Abyss, have plans to in the future though.
So yeah, if you can buy the Nathan Drake collection and Uncharted 4. Cause this is a series that will keep you invested for a good long time.
if you want to know what happens to the missing villian and Chloe after Uncharted 4, play The Lost Legacy.
The reason the campaign was 30 fps is because they turned graphics up to 11 which they couldn't do at 60 like the multiplayer. And also the singleplayer is 1080p and the multiplayer is 900p
I'm not a fan of the ps4 due to its game library difference from the previous consoles but Uncharted 4 looks amazing (the graphics!)
Love the video!!!
You're not the only who pretends they're the game's cameraman, I do that too
I know I'm late to the game, but this was a great review
they didnt want to go into supernatural elements to make the game more believable is what the devs wanted
I really liked Uncharted 4. It's got the characters we know and love, great dialogue, and fun set-pieces. Definitely one of my favorite games of the year alongside Ratchet & Clank (2016). While I, too, was a little bummed out that Chloe didn't appear, I think it was for the best. With all the focus on Nate's relationship with Sam, Sully, and Elena, Chloe would have been forcefully shoehorned in and add nothing to the story.
I loved the game and I loved your review!
Hey Suspect. Have you played any of the Silent Hill games? In the 1st Silent Hill game, the puzzles are very challenging and you might really like them. :)
20:28 that is fallout levels of 'running'
Just watched the uncharted movie
And honestly,
Its definitely worthy of the series.
Its not an exact match to the games characters but it does fot right in with the tone and spectacle of the games
Rafe and Nadine were both the best Uncharted villains in my opinion.
Holy shit. I'm the first on one of Ross' videos. Holy fucking shit
😄
Also, hearing Crash Bandicoot music makes me sad :( I want a new game
This is my favorite Uncharted game
We need a Indiana Jones game like this!
Nothing too mysterious of why Multiplayer has 60fps while campaing 30fps. Nothing to do with cinematics. It's simply the fact that the devs downgrade the multiplayer graphics a lot to prioritize fps, while campaign goes for graphics. A ton of effects are missing from the multiplayer, much less detailed world and models and the maps are alot smaller than single player. Simple as that. Uncharted 4 is not the only game that done this.
The "fussiness" you mentioned on characters are due to low quality shadows, a necessary compromise. It was fixed on PS4 Pro allowing much smoother shades on this regard. That was very distracting for me the first time I played on regular PS4.
Awesome review! How would you personally rank the Uncharted games?
I've never played Golden Abyss (don't have a Vita) but I'd rank the others as such:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
+The Unusual Suspect thanks for replying. looking forward to the rest of your reviews
9:40 Spirited away vibes
came from your nintendo review old channel :)
BTW you should get some friends to help with these reviews. whether it be editing or writing I think a small team could help you get out videos faster and would probably get you more subs. Not telling you how to do your job or anything, it's just my personal opinion.
1 gripe with this game the hair it looks amazing but. Never reacts like "U where just underwater how is ur hair still pristine what do u use matte Simpson hair spray"
Lee Everett it isn’t it wets and flattens
10:28. Because the campaign is waay more graphically enhanced then the multiplayer, how is it weird when multiplayer is more fast paced. Mp is also in 920p whilst the campaign is in 1080p
this video isn't on the video game review playlist
Suspect, will you be reviewing another film series anytime soon?
