    I only started seriously learning languages a few years ago, I have a rough plan to study each language for 2 years (to begin with). I started with French and now I have done about 10 months of German. I am 59 years old and really regret I did not start 40 years ago, but better late than never. I am determined to live to well over 100 so I can realise my language ambitions!!

    as a Turk I geniunely thought about how few one cup of black tea would be the second you said it lol. I drink at least 5-12 cups of tea every day. I used to bring a termostat to school back in high school, but since I would practically drink 7 cups of tea (about 1 for each lesson break) I just kept buying from the cafeteria.

    I started in Q2 cuz I had a mental health hiatus. Spanish is my main focus and I'm just dabbling otherwise basically but using German and Italian as breaks but also taking Lithuanian slowly. Korean is for just seeing an effective way to learn a newish script but also for media purposes. Lithuanian is to help a friend get back into learning the language. I'm just brushing up on Japanese and French and Vietnamese and maybe Croatian will be dabble every now and then.

    I don’t know how you do it. I’ve started on many languages but honestly I’ve ended up sticking with 3 for now and I can barely do that. Managing to keep German at a barely b2 level while just trying to get my Spanish and Haitian Creole (south Florida languages ya know) to usable levels it’s a struggle I feel my German could get so much better if I focused solely on that but the relevance of the other two languages is a constant motivator and distractor.
    Also that’s wild I have this mug from my grandma that says “crosswords are fun” and I was just talking to my bf saying I never really enjoyed them. But you’re motivating me to give them another try 😅

    i can do • yap(-abil)irim
    i do • yaparım
    i can't do • yap(-a)mam
    i don't do • yapmam
    it's sometimes confusing even for us (turkish people) to see the difference between these two but the important thing is to keep in mind that "-ebilmek, -abilmek" shows that someone is able to do (or here comes any verb) something in a positive turkish sentence. in the negative version of these "-ebilmek, -abilmek" is "-a".
    don't forget that these "-mek, -mak" at the end of "-ebilmek, -abilmek" is turkish version of "to" (like "to make, to swim") in english. ❤

    yapamam = geniş zaman
    yapamıyorum = şimdiki zaman
    USAGES OF PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE ( R (+will, +request)
    I wrote present simple tense but we call it “Geniş= Broad” tense.
    1- It can be used for “will tense” (uncertain, unplanned, guessed future)
    Belki yarın gelirim= maybe i will come tomorrow.
    Yarın yağmur yağar mı? = will it rain tomorrow
    2- and it can be used also in questions to request.Such as “would you please”
    kapıyı açar mısınız= would you open the door? (request)
    çay içer misiniz? = would you drink tea?
    3- It can be used to tell general facts such as “Sun rises from east.”
    4- Yes you can use this tense to talk about daily routine but it is not common usage because we use present continuous tense to talk about daily routine.
    -
    USAGES OF present continuous tense (-yor)
    1-present continuous tense is used to talk about the moment.
    şimdi su içiyorum = I'm drinking water now.
    2-present continuous tense is used to talk about daily routine
    her gün çay içiyorum =I'm drinking tea everyday.
    But there is also present simple tense in Turkish.
    3-As it is in English, present continuous tense can be used for planned future tense "to be going to".
    Yarın akşam geliyorum. =I'm coming tomorrow evening.
    But there is also a future tense in Turkish.
