    Muscle memory is stored in a very different region of the brain (and a much more permanent one if I am not mistaken). So what you said about sign languages makes a lot of sense!

      @@elyssespeaks I'll have a look at it too! If I'm not mistaken, Broca's Area is for vocabulary and Wernicke's area for grammar and structure. I'm not sure how they integrate with motor pathways though.

    Omg the part at 6:52 about accidentally sprinkling in the German filler words is so damn relatable! 😂 I have a lot of English students who sprinkle in filler words that aren't their native language or English, and I love it tbh

    Hi Elysse, I see that you've been learning Turkish recently! That's great :)
    If you're looking for a language partner, I'm all in! Maybe you remember, I was a community tutor on italki just like you for a very long time and I would be very happy to help you out with your Turkish. I speak German and Italian besides English and Turkish so maybe we could apply this good old laddering technique together as well. ;)
    Hope to hear from you!

    Okay, this was just phenomenal! I also started learning Turkish about a month ago coincidentally. It's the first language that I've ever started from scratch by self-studying. It's been a really interesting experience so far! Something that really helped me was using Language Transfer's free Turkish lessons to build a foundation. It really helped establish my ability to create novel sentences, and I was constantly able to build off of what I already knew. I highly recommend it if you're a fan of audio lessons!
    Anyway, thank you so much for this video! You've inspired me to start studying multiple languages again.

    What an awesome experiment! I love your outlook and the positive takeaways you had despite the challenges. I can empathize with the difficulty of keeping languages straight during lessons on italki. In the last few years I've been taking both Polish and Ukrainian lessons every week, and it's still so hard for me not to mix vocabulary, sounds or accent between the languages. And then, when I recently took a Spanish lesson on italki, I automatically started going over to Ukrainian or Polish! Anyway, this video definitely inspires me to keep up my ability to regularly speak the languages I know.

    • @Imaginfull
      @Imaginfull 2 роки тому +1

      @@elyssespeaks The amount of languages spoken and varying content! I feel like your content lately before these 3 newer videos have been very revolved around German, which I still like but it might not appeal to non-German learners like myself. A balance of sit-down videos and vlogs is nice too. You diving into Turkish has also been fun to watch since it’s a more obscure and complex language, which I’m sure many are curious about your approach as well. This also comes down to personal opinion, but your editing has also become more fun and less dull!!! Anyways, thanks for making such high-quality vids even with all you have going on!!!

    When you spoke in Portuguese, you were able to replicate very well the way of Brazilians speak, It's a really hard thing to do. That "Caramba mano, tu fala muito bem" was perfect.
    I'm trying to do the same learning English but I've a crush for accents, so for curiosity, besides the "traditional" American English, I'm watching some videos about the south accent, specifically from Texas, and the british, taking care to not mix specific words.

    dude, the way I made bascially the same mistake with "he is crying" (está llorando/ llora) and "it's raining" (está lloviendo/ llueve) in a Spanish class once. 🤦‍♀️ Zwei Dumme, ein Gedanke, I'd say. I like the way that these words are so similiar in latin languages tho bc it does make sense right? Like the sky is crying when it rains

    Sorry guysl,i just have a question what is the meaning of the sentence when she said i don't want to come out as a clout fishing hearie can somebody explains that to me,i'm sorry but i'm not An English native speaker so if someone explained to me what that means i would be really thankful

    • @VoidHugger
      @VoidHugger 11 місяців тому

      So, clout-fishing is when you are trying to gain (fish for) fame (clout). So, gaining fame = clout-fishing. Clout is a newer concept, used more by younger people. Clout-fishing is a negative term because it's used to describe people that do stupid things on the internet for fame.
      Fishing can be used in lots of negative terms like this.

      @@islammustafa5874 No problem! Your english looks pretty good to me
      I also just realised I forgot to explain the hearie part
      In the deaf community there are words used to describe hearing and non-hearing (deaf) people. I've never heard the word hearie before, but it would just mean a person who can hear (not deaf)
      So, a clout-chasing hearie is a person who, in this context, uses things from the deaf community to gain fame

      And sorry for my questions I've been learning English since my childhood I'm 16 years old so it's rare for me to find a word that I don't know the meaning of ( of course it appears that I'm not a native speaker but I spoke English since pretty young age and yet still bad in comparison to many people) so in case that happens I'll be looking up to find out whatever this word means and thanks again
