My language goals for 2023 are to reach a B2 level in Swedish 🇸🇪, while also continuing with my Bulgarian 🇧🇬, Turkish 🇹🇷, and Georgian 🇬🇪, and Zulu 🇿🇦 studies. I have big plans and I'm super excited to see where I'll be by the end of the year! 😊
good luck with your language prospects! I'm just trying to learn german to a high level... I'd like to start learning another language (like spanish, swedish, bulgarian, russian, polish, italian...) all of them I'm interested in but I also don't even remember how to start learning languages. I don't even remember starting german tbh... I've forgotten how to start over from the beginning and honestly it's taken so much time and effort that I don't think I'd be able to do that all over again haha. But if I add another language, I'll add one of the above.
@@bailagringacovers It's definitely difficult to find them online. I was living in Georgia last year, which helped a lot, but some UA-cam channels I recommend are @HodaGeorgia , @learngeorgianwithroni4824 , @ryannakao2448 , and @Georgian2go 😊
My langage learning goals for 2023: -reach french b2 (currently at a2) -reach german b1 -get better at turkish speaking -get my IELTS (hopefully an 8 or higher) -read more books in persian (it's my mother tongue but i suck at it)
Hey, same here!! Tho instead of german I have Russian! Also, I suggest you read those books in English cuz at the end you are gonna take IELTS and it gonna help you a lot in the Reading section.
@@benty3640 I have since moved to France, currently studying B2 here and will finish it in a couple of months, I still haven’t taken the IELTS test but I can easily get an 8 now if I want to, I started German and realized I hated it, and I have decided to learn Turkish after I reach C1 in French. I’m proud of what I did in 2023 because French is not easy and I was busy with my immigration process.
I really agree that taking a language exam for yourself is a completely different feeling than taking an exam for a school or for a job. Especially the sense of accomplishment when you pass the target score, it is a complete affirmation of yourself. Even though it feels a bit down when you don't pass the exam, you'll grateful for what you did and you have nothing to lose.
I'm french and I learn English. Your videos help me to improve my oral comprehension. Thanks 🥰 This year I want to achieve my goal to reach a B2 level in English and German. Then, I would like to learn Spanish more and reach a A2 level.
Hi! I'm French and learning English as well 😉 Good luck with your language goals!! I personally started learning my third foreign language way too early in regard to the level I had in the first two ones (English and Spanish). I would say I became able to efficiently dedicate time to a third language once I was comfortable using English in Spanish in my daily activities (eg watch media, make friends, take psychology lessons).
Whaaaaat I cannot wait for the EasyGerman episode!! I've listened to every episode of that and it is a crossover I didn't know I wanted but you definitely deserve, good work!
Love the video☺ I am studying Chinese, and I am enjoying it so much without using HSK. My goal for the year is weekly classes with my tutor and watching a lot of native content😁
In Dutch high school, it is not unusual to learn five or six languages at a time. My son is currently learning Chinese, Latin, French, and English. Until last year he also had Ancient Greek and German. And his native languages are Persian and Dutch. That makes eight languages. I myself also had six languages in high school, and then later learned some Persian and Chinese, and I am now learning Spanish, but organically, without fixing myself any goals or doing tests or grammar & lists of vocabulary.
hi elysse! love the flexible structure to your goals this year. my goals this year for portuguese and chinese are SPEAK MORE. i will be traveling to countries that speak both those languages so i need to prep and also take advantage of the opportunity while i’m there! have a great year and good luck on those tests!
I can't wait to see you on the Easy German Podcast! Although focusing on exams too much is counterproductive, I had a great experience preparing for Cambridge C2. It definitely helped me correct grammar mistakes, expand vocabulary and sophisticate my language skills. My English is far from perfect, but getting an A really increased my confidence!
It’s so inspiring to see you get to such high levels in many languages! My goal for 2023 is to achieve C1 in Italian, B1/2 in German, and at least A2 in French. And that counting that I’m already bilingual (English and Russian). Very excited to see progress in you and myself!!❤
4:10 I agree with you. Of course, it's not the most accurate picture, but there is no other objective and consistent standard to measure yourself. I am not a language test stan, but the fact that the test is consistent and unchanging is really valuable to gauge progress.
I am super excited to see your progress in German and Hebrew!!! Im also starting to learn hebrew this year (I can read the alephbeth to a certain level) For 2023 I don´t have many language goals. My main goal is to focus on my language habits. The languages I´m currently learning are French (B1), English (B1+) and Polish (A0). Also some Ukrainian Doulingo. And hopefully at the end of the year I finally start learning hebrew
Awesome that you will be on Easy German podcast 😁 my goal for 2023 is very modest: reach and maintain a very solid A2 in German. Sure I could aim for B1 but I am a new (working) mum so I have to keep it realistic.
I'm translating a French author and am getting my speaking up to C1 this year, in preparation for promotional work around the book in Q3. I'm moving my Russian into a solid B1 and learning Basque ab initio. Continuing to dabble in Arabic and to read more and more in Italian. Here's to a fun year of linguistic surprises.
Love that you're taking on arabic! I started learning it not too long ago and i feel like there isnt much content about learning it. Please make a video about ressources and your study method. Will still be following your german learning journey weil ich will auch in 2023 die B2 Prüfung ablegen. Also been thinking about starting Turkish and watching you learn it has really made me wanna actually do it but i think that's a 2024 kinda goal, once my arabic is advanced enough.
hi! for chinese mandarin, I know going for the HSK route can be a little boring, but I've been doing that together with movies and tv series and it since the hsk does kinda follow a logic in the words presented, you get to see a lot of the words from HSK 2 and on (specially from HSK3) you start recognizing sooo many words, that it feel really gratifying idk), also cause a lot of the movies and series have already subs in chinese (so like, double subs) so you can practice the reading too ))) but to make the HSK route more fun from the begining I recommend the Hello Chinese app, you can see the words in context, it looks like duolingo but it's way better cause it was made specically for chinese it's my first year out of college and into work so I got a lot less time, but my lang goals for this year are to finally be done with my (active) German studies and do the C1 exam at the end of the year (got the B2 in 2021) and for Chinese mandarin is to reach half of the HSK 4 and be able to have longer conversations
Since I'm planning to go to Japan in July, I actually decided to take a pause with French so I can focus on growing my speaking confidence in Japanese after a long time of just focusing on other aspects of the language. Japanese has always been my mainstay language so it's gonna be fun to focus on one thing only for once. I decided since I have an internship that lasts a semester (the first 4 months), I felt it was best to treat my year as thirds versus quarters. I just felt off planning in quarters since that first 4 months is such a big chunk of my life! 2023 is off to a great start and I can't wait to see how it turns out for everyone and their languages!
Oh that's awesome! I took many years of French in school and now I work with individuals from Cameroon so it's always nice to get to practice so I won't "loose" my French. I've always wanted to learn Japanese and I started learning in 2020 and now I have a tutor :) Bonne chance! 頑張ってください
I have Assimil's Japanese course with French as the language of instruction, but to learn that language I'll need more resources, especially since Luca Lampariello talked about failing at Japanese, even while using the Assimil course. I'll link the video. *My Failure with Japanese* - ua-cam.com/video/0LN5PM7nOS8/v-deo.html
Honeyy as a Turkish, there are soo much amazing tv series... You should watch theseee • Kurt Seyit ve Şura (my favorite...) • Ufak Tefek Cinayetler • Ezel
bro, the "I need some validation" part hit *so* hard. Especially as a ""pandemiglot"" as I like to call it. also: viel glück mit dem Easy German podcast! Es will wunderbar sein dich zuzuhören da!
Something that helped me when learning Arabic was youtubers (Saudi Arabia and gulf is very big on social media hehe), tv shows and story walkthroughs on UA-cam, like Arabic with Sam has some stories like Alladin and stuff 👀 Also you are making me want to learn Turkish, maybe I will indulge the urge 😎🇹🇷
My language goals are:) -having an A1/A2 Italian level 🇮🇹 to be accepted in Italian class in my high school -get more comfortable in reading and start writing Arabic -speaking more Tunisian at home like I used to do -learn new vocabulary and focus on grammar in Spanish 🇪🇸(to be prepared for the C1 exam next year) -focus more on grammar and writing skills in English 🇺🇸 (to be prepared for the C1 exam next year) -having bases in Portuguese Brazilian🇧🇷 (present my self…)
My language goal is to improve my german comprehension. Very simple. Eventually spoken german will follow, but I focus on comprehension. If you need some Quebec french conversation, it can be arranged. Have a nice year!
So excited to hear you on Easy German! Honestly my main goal is to just feel fully comfortable listening to native level German content. To get close to what it feels like when listening to English. Would also love to get a certificate but b1 or b2. I’m pretty sure I am at a solid b2 level but I am also not the best test taker and have never taken any exam like this - even though I feel b1 would be safer, b2 as you said is the one that would really be of use. I can always come back for that later though. Oh getting my Spanish to a basic conversational level would be nice especially living in South Florida where 70% of the population is Hispanic - but every time I put too much energy into Spanish my German suffers for it so we’ll see what I’m able to do. Auf jeden Fall kommt Deutsch zuerst! Finally if I’m not completely overwhelmed by the end of the year I’d like to revisit ASL and Vietnamese both of which I never got to explore as deeply as I would have liked - and maybe even dabble in French a little- perhaps a duo speed run? Lol Great video as always. Wishing you the best in ‘23. L’chaim
My 2023 language goals are: Improving all of my languages as much as possible (English 🇺🇸 French 🇨🇵 Portuguese 🇧🇷 and Italian 🇮🇹. My native language is Spanish. PD: The flags also represent which accent I've learned, so please British and Portuguese people don't be mad) Learning Dutch. I began to learn Dutch one month ago and I can already understand many basic words and sentences. I've progressed very quickly. My knowledge of English has helped me a lot with Dutch, even though it isn't my native language. I've been learning Dutch on Duolingo (through English) and there are many similar words. My Romance languages don't help me that much with my vocabulary. I think French helps me more because there are some French words like plafond (ceiling), parapluie (umbrella) etc. Once I've become decently fluent (like a B2), I'd like to start over with German (I quit it before reaching an intermediate level) and learn a Scandinavian language. I don't know I'm still not sure if I want to learn Swedish or Norwegian (Danish pronunciation is so hard). Good luck with your language learning!
Good Luck!! My goals are getting to a basic conversational level at French, learning basic grammar and vocab/kanji in Japanese, and improve my Dutch. I am already kinda fluent in Dutch, I actually moved to the Netherlands for my bachelors last year, so I use it with my dutch friends now, but even though I´ve got pretty confident speaking it, I got kinda lazy on vocab and didn´t really study actively anymore. So a lot more reading, Netflix, podcasts and looking up words.
Nice template. I'm a total language learning newbie so my goals aren't as ambitious. I'm concentrating on Italian and ASL. Mostly through Duolingo, Pimsleur, iTalki, podcasts and Netflix shows (lol). And your template will help. I'm goi g to get it. Great channel and thanks 😊 👍🏾
My goals are: 🇺🇸English: to reach a B2 level, focus more on grammar and improve my conversational skills. 🇧🇷 Brazilian Portuguese: I just started to learn it about 2 weeks ago and I'm going to live in Brazil in April for 18 months, so my goals are to get in a conversational level before moving to Brazil, read some books and have fun learning the language and Brazilian Culture. 🇭🇹 Haitian Creole: To learn some basic vocab and phrases for being able to communicate easier with my Haitian friend and as an exchange because She's learning my native language(Spanish🇩🇴).
I have a Carioca friend on Facebook who teaches Portuguese online, but I don't know how much she charges. If you already know Spanish, you'll pick up Portuguese that much quicker, but you have to treat it as its own language, and not just as an 'irmãozinho do espanhol', 'hermanito del español'. Spanish is my first foreign language, and after learning Portuguese I used it for 10 years daily in my career. You'll love Brazil, the people, the food, the music, and the language! Food varies regionally. On the coast it will be a lot like Dominican food. In the South, churrasco, barbeque, is very popular. 'Pega com a mão' means to pick it up with your hand, and that's how they eat barbeque in Brazil; they don't drown it in sauce as we in Texas do. In Brazil, rap music is pronounced 'happy'. Rock music is pronounced 'hockey'. Some things in Portuguese are simpler. While in Spanish you'd say, 'Se me robó la cartera,' in Portuguese it'd be 'Minha carteira foi roubada,' so it's closer to English that way. 'Embaraçada' means embarrassed, not pregnant. 'Esquisito' means weird, not exquisite. In Colombia they refer to a bus as a 'buseta'; it's best to avoid saying that word in Brazil. Check out the *Portugués con Philipe Brazuca* channel; he was teaching Portuguese in Colombia for a while. Brazil is mostly Catholic, but there are a lot of 'crentes' / 'creyentes' - Protestants / Evangelicals - there too as well as Espíritas who follow the teachings of Allan Kardec, and diaspora Afro-Brazilian religions similar to Haitian Vodou, which are more Yoruba than Fon, same as in Cuba and Puerto Rico. The thing with Portuguese is to get used to the pronunciation. For example, many Brazilians pronounce 'arroz' as 'ajóis' - using Spanish phonetics where J in most cases sounds like the English H. Boa sorte no Brasil!
Hebrew is fun, I'll be shocked to see you progress in עברית. It would be my biggest of honor to somehow help you with Hebrew, My knowledge of Hebrew is VAST and profound, I'm a not only a native speaker but my mom is a Hebrew teacher herself. Anyways I'd be more than happy to help you in any step of your journey🧘 (no money involved totally free😉)
@@elyssedavega Listen Elysse, I'm almost a proper polyglot, I speak Portuguese Spanish fluently, and learning Russian, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Arabic, Japanese. But ok if you prefer my mom I'll arrange that for you😌👍
@@elyssedavega aww, I hope everything ends up well in your personal life, I truly love watching your videos and your journey! You are such a huge inspiration. ♥♥
in brief: In this video, the speaker discusses their language learning goals for 2023. They are studying six languages: French, German, Turkish, Arabic, Mandarin, and Hebrew. Instead of setting yearly goals, they focus on quarterly goals, as they find it more digestible and suitable for their fluctuating schedule and changing interests. Their general language learning goal for the year is to take 100 italki lessons. For specific language goals, they aim to pass the C1 DALF exam for French, the B2 Goethe exam for German, and reach a B1 conversational level for Turkish. The speaker also introduces their 2023 Language Plan-&-Track on Notion, designed specifically for language learners to help organize their goals and studies. They give a tour of the template, showing how they plan their quarterly goals, track their progress, and log their daily studies.
just focusing on german this year (and maybe another language but idk yet). I'd like to be able to understand native content by the end of 2023. I think I'm like B1-B2 ish atm. My listening is okay if I really put effort into it, so definitely focusing more on listening. I read a lot too. I'd like to add another language but maybe I'll just dabble in a few to see which one I like the most lol but I might also just end up focusing just on german.
I have the goal of studying by bachelors in Germany and they require a c1 level so I feel a little discouraged by that since I know I'll need some more time before I can start. With masters programs, many of them are taught in English and have no German test requirement/ optional. For work I think it entirely depends on what you want to do. I feel really inspired by your German journey!
Tuition is much cheaper in Germany, but I think it's also quite cheap in Scandinavia. If I could do my studies all over again, I would've gone the Germany or Scandinavia route.
My language goal for 2023 is achieve B2 in 🇸🇪 and c1 in 🇫🇷 and 🇪🇸. Most important part for me this year are accents. Of course I need to develop grammar, especially In annoying Romance languages but I’m in love with all of them and want to be fluent It’s a little bit sad for me that I can’t learn more just because I don’t have time with my other aspects of life and also I want to be really fluent and it’s really difficult for more than +-4 languages
Viel Erfolg with achieving your goals for the year! Funnily, I picked up Mandarin again after dropping it in 2020/21, also because I was too HSK focused (and didn't know how to learn it in a fun way) ^^ Now I use an Anki app, learn grammar as soon as I need it and it's going great! Yesterday, I wrote various fun sentences and I never would've DREAMED to be able to do it hahahah Hope you're gonna have a blast like me :D
My main language goal this year is to get the Goethe-Zertifikat B2, probably in Q3 as well. Also I want to reach a B1-B2 level in Mandarin looking forward to taking TOCFL Band B next year. And at last but not least, I'm working on my Arabic too, I want to get to an intermediate level in MSA and a lower intermediate conversational level in Levantine Arabic. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the process.
I'd love to watch a video where you explain what you do, how you maintain when you are already advanced in a language, I have this doubt and I don't see a lot of videos on this topic
I'm mainly focusing on French right now, although I also have resources for Spanish and German. On the other hand, I've recently gained a little fascination with the eastern Mediterranean region, which makes me excited to see you studying Arabic, Turkish, and Hebrew. If there's any language native to that area I'd probably study, it would likely end up being Greek. There's a little bit of a Greek diaspora community where I live, although the Aegean islands are downright beautiful and I'd love to vacation there someday, including some places off the beaten path (eg. places other than Mykonos, Santorini, or other heavily tourist-focused islands), and this is where knowing the language will come in handy. As someone interested in human longevity and life extension, Icaria immediately comes to mind. Of course, some parts of the Aegean region are Turkish, and knowing that language would also come in handy!
Awesome! I'm learning Hebrew and Mandarin also! I had a hard time finding free resources for Hebrew. I didn't want biblical hebrew, which there was more resources for. I found Streetwise Hebrew Podcast to be really good. My goals for this year are to stick with a small number of languages past the honeymoon stage... I really suck at output and I should probably work on that too.
I'm excited about Elysse learning Hebrew so I can discover resources through her lol, and forgot about Streetwise Hebrew! I had stopped listening to it and will see if I can remember why/listen again - thanks!
My language goals for 2023 is learn French (I'm beginner, I've been only studying French for 3 months I guess) and improve my English, I feel that there is a lot of things that I need to improve in my English
Hi, new subscriber here. This is the first video of yours I’m watching and I’m so happy to have someone to look at for advice to learn languages. I’m thinking I might go and take some classes in college for foreign language this year or next. I’m learning Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French right now. I might add Mandarin or Dutch (or both) later. There’s a decent Chinese population in my area, so there’s a demand to learn Chinese languages. I’m going to decide by April if I want to major in a foreign language (either French, Spanish, or both) when I go to college in the fall. I’m so happy that learning foreign languages comes so naturally to me.
As a native Turkish speaker, I'd love to be your conversational Turkish tandem. Lately, I've been really motivated to improve my current German level which is somewhere between B1.2 - B1.3, practice speaking more, and use some of your tips. I'd be down no matter if you are looking for a relaxed schedule or a strict one. If you are up, hmu and let us talk some business :)
I just started with Italian. Loved the Language ever since I was 14. I am using Duolingo. To me it's the perfect mix of fun and learning. My goal is to learn every single day a few minutes. Like a new years resolution.
Main goals: Hebrew c2, French c1, Russian consolidate A2 towards b1. Maybe do some intensive Spanish and Italian to consolidate to B1 speaking and listening level. . I would like a very specific roadmap of how to get to c1 and c2. I find the general advice of consume media and read books to be helpful only up to a point, but doesn't address things like how to deal with a rental contract, how to speak about economics, statistics, psychology, science, discussing a medical issue with a doctor etc, etc. The roadmap would include things like review a rental contract 3 hrs, take human biology 101 15 hours and write summaries, etc. Regarding Hebrew and Arabic, there is some lexical overlap, but the two languages are mutually unintelligable. I only speak Hebrew, not Arabic, but understand that Arabic grammar is more challenging. Apart from some individual words, I can't understand Arabic just based on my knowledge of Hebrew.
There is a German Grammar Genius course offered by smarterGerman. I think it will be definitely helpful for your German language learning goal. The approach is entirely different ...check the free lesson you will understand how its different from others. My language learning goal for 2023 is to get to B1 level of German. I like your notion template for tracking progress. I am definitely going to use it. Thank you 🙂.
It keeps things fresh and interesting, but I'd recommend it only for languages you're starting to learn because you'll forget most of what you learn. The bright side is that your 2nd try will be easier.
This is simply amazing! As someone who did both Goethe B2 and DALF C1, I can say your German is surely B2, beyond the furthest of Zweifel. For DALF C1, I have a tip, I quoted Victor Hugo in my speaking and got 24/25, though I made un montón de grammar mistakes, but hey les français aiment quand on parle de sa culture mdrrrr I hope to see you speak Mandarin soon!
my goal for this year is to become a B1-B2 level french speaker (currently A1). do you guys think that this is a bit outlandish (i’m saying outlandish to help some non-native speakers learn some new vocabulary 😉)? I also maybe want to dabble into a bit of German because I really like the culture. I also might dabble into a bit of Hawaiian because i just think that it’d be cool.
my goals are to continue with my russian and get to at least B2 by the end of the year. I'm also starting Ukrainian at university, so I want to get to a decent level in it as well whether by myself or in class. Hebrew is, unfortunately, still a dream for now - i don't think i can do four languages at once, including Polish which is my main language at uni 😅
I'm already C1/C2 in French (my mother tongue) and in English. In 2023, I'd like to improve my Spanish and German, which I have started to learn some years ago on and off. I'm probably currently at an A2/B1 level in Spanish and A2 in German. I would also like to start Italian and maybe one or two other languages, which I have yet to choose from the looooong list of languages I'm interested in! LOL
my continued goal is to get out of the Korean level 3 zone and finally progress, but I'm currently on a budget, so language lessons have had to go for now. but that is my goal for 2023. to reach at least level 5 proficiency.
i love seeing hebrew on that list... I feel like its not very popular in the language learning communities but its sounds so beautiful and has such a rich culture behind it.. its on my list, but my Russian plans are still blocking the view heh
I am a native Persian (Farsi)🇮🇷speaker, my second mother tongue is Azeri Turkish🇦🇿 And I’m pretty fluent in English🏴, c1 or maybe c2? My goal for the new year is to get to B1 level in Spanish🇪🇸I’m currently A1, achieve B2 in Turkish🇹🇷(currently B1) and start German🇩🇪! Good luck everyone🥹 I hope you enjoy this marvelous journey of getting engaged with sweet languages.
My goals are to get an A1 certificate in japanese (for school application)+ finishing my kanji book (i'm at 777 out of 2223) ; to reach B2 or C1 for the english certification i'm taking in march ; to get more conversational in german because i'm fine with reading and comprehension but I cannot get one sentence correctly (as well as just taking up my level which I think is around A2+/B1-) and (if I find time for it because school yk) continuing with spanish (because I always start again and again without getting anywhere)
Honestly I've given up on setting goals with language. Instead, I focus on, "Okay, what can I actually DO? What's the routine?" Before, I would set goals and setting the goal felt like enough, so I would never follow through on the action plan. So now I focus on the system and I figure any goals I would have set will be accomplished anyway as a natural consequence of having a routine. (If any of that makes sense? lmao) Speaking long-term, I would like to get to a C1 in Spanish and I'd also like to revive my Chinese and French.
You laid out a really smart plan! Love the idea of fun time end of year👍🏾 -I hope to reach a solid A2 level in 🇷🇺 this year. I plan to Star iTalki last 6 mos. if the year.
As aTurk. It took me learn English and Italian. 20 years. 😢how come you can learn easily. You are perfect. I am teaching my dougter who is 7 years now English and she is learning German in school now. Even though she is 7 she is better than me. I believe I do not have skills. Good luck to you.
This year I'm gonna take up the Duolingo English Test, TRKI 3 (The international Russian Language Test for C1 level) and Tömer/TYS (Turkish Proficiency Test).
Wish me luck 🤞
I just saw that you wrote LingQ Artikeln on Notion. Artikel is one of the few german words that without declension dont have a difference between singular and Plural. So while saying "Von den LingQ Artikeln, die ich gelesen habe, finde ich ..." is correct, saying "Ich lese ein paar LingQ Artikeln" isnt. It would be "Ich lese ein paar LingQ Artikel".
Viel Glück! Dieses Jahr hoffe ich auf Deutsch B1 erreichen, entweder nur Wissen oder der Prüfung bestehen. Im Moment bin ich A2. Ich habe einen Deutschen Kurs bei Goethe angemeldet.
Language goals for 2023 Getting to an advance level in english, portuguese and french (the only one I'm actually learning in a language school lol) Getting to a basic level in German and get better at my non-existent turkish Xd (I'd like to certificate my english and portuguese, I need a job JAJAJ) Maybe I'll get a grasp in Italian 😂 why not Love your videos btw :)) Saludos desde Colombia
Learning 6 languages in 1 year is probably not for 99.9% of those who are actually interested in learning any foreign language. I want to improve my German (currently B1/B2) and Spanish (A2). I know some French and Latin. Besides German and Spanish, I'm tempted to explore/work on French, Arabic, and Japanese, but still I plan to focus primarily on the German and Spanish. After all, their are other activities, unrelated to languages, I want and need to pursue. *Vielen Dank! Muchas gracias.*
Half of those are dabbling languages so it’s really more like 3. We all do things differently, and i’m actually very interested and dedicated contrary to what may be true for YOU:)
I think, maybe depending a little bit on what kind of job it would be, but I think you could work in germany right now. The small mistakes you make here and there don't really mean much in an office environment for example. there are people who make a honest living here with worse german ;) what really breaks the game is missing vocabulary in your specific field
Hi elysse :) i would love advice on. How do you study more than one language at the same time? Do you try to rotate them like each day or can you do say...3 one week, 3 the next? Is it possible to study 6 eep! İn a day? Since you mention studying 6. Thanks :)
Being overwhelmed.

-get my IELTS (hopefully an 8 or higher)
-read more books in persian (it's my mother tongue but i suck at it)
just to be clear your mothertongue is your first language, not the language of "your" country or parents (just bc U said U sucked at it?)
Hey, same here!! Tho instead of german I have Russian! Also, I suggest you read those books in English cuz at the end you are gonna take IELTS and it gonna help you a lot in the Reading section.
what about now?@@Reymklsn
what about now?
בהצלחה!!
Viel Glück!
This year I hope to reach B1 in German.
Good luck everyone, we are all on the road to becoming multilingual kings and queens :)

I'm french and I learn English. Your videos help me to improve my oral comprehension. Thanks 🥰 This year I want to achieve my goal to reach a B2 level in English and German. Then, I would like to learn Spanish more and reach a A2 level.
your english is really good!
edit: i just realized i made an english mistake on a comment saying how good your english is 😭
HAHAHAHA
Writing from the future: you smashed your appearance on that podcast 💪 gut gemacht
Love the video☺ I am studying Chinese, and I am enjoying it so much without using HSK. My goal for the year is weekly classes with my tutor and watching a lot of native content😁
加油⛽
In Dutch high school, it is not unusual to learn five or six languages at a time. My son is currently learning Chinese, Latin, French, and English. Until last year he also had Ancient Greek and German. And his native languages are Persian and Dutch. That makes eight languages. I myself also had six languages in high school, and then later learned some Persian and Chinese, and I am now learning Spanish, but organically, without fixing myself any goals or doing tests or grammar & lists of vocabulary.
hi elysse! love the flexible structure to your goals this year. my goals this year for portuguese and chinese are SPEAK MORE. i will be traveling to countries that speak both those languages so i need to prep and also take advantage of the opportunity while i’m there! have a great year and good luck on those tests!
epic!!! safe travels and i hope you learn so much ;0
I can't wait to see you on the Easy German Podcast!
Great goals! I'm sure you will pass your exams!!! It's so great to see you dabbling on Chinese in your last quarter :) happy learning!
4:10 I agree with you. Of course, it's not the most accurate picture, but there is no other objective and consistent standard to measure yourself. I am not a language test stan, but the fact that the test is consistent and unchanging is really valuable to gauge progress.
Yep! It’s not that big a deal, if you have the money and time to do it, why not
I am super excited to see your progress in German and Hebrew!!! Im also starting to learn hebrew this year (I can read the alephbeth to a certain level)
For 2023 I don´t have many language goals. My main goal is to focus on my language habits. The languages I´m currently learning are French (B1), English (B1+) and Polish (A0). Also some Ukrainian Doulingo. And hopefully at the end of the year I finally start learning hebrew
Awesome!! we’ll be synced up with hebrew :D
Awesome that you will be on Easy German podcast 😁 my goal for 2023 is very modest: reach and maintain a very solid A2 in German. Sure I could aim for B1 but I am a new (working) mum so I have to keep it realistic.
it’s better to shoot lower because sometimes you go beyond what you expected :)
Also been thinking about starting Turkish and watching you learn it has really made me wanna actually do it but i think that's a 2024 kinda goal, once my arabic is advanced enough.
hi! for chinese mandarin, I know going for the HSK route can be a little boring, but I've been doing that together with movies and tv series and it since the hsk does kinda follow a logic in the words presented, you get to see a lot of the words from HSK 2 and on (specially from HSK3) you start recognizing sooo many words, that it feel really gratifying idk), also cause a lot of the movies and series have already subs in chinese (so like, double subs) so you can practice the reading too ))) but to make the HSK route more fun from the begining I recommend the Hello Chinese app, you can see the words in context, it looks like duolingo but it's way better cause it was made specically for chinese
it's my first year out of college and into work so I got a lot less time, but my lang goals for this year are to finally be done with my (active) German studies and do the C1 exam at the end of the year (got the B2 in 2021) and for Chinese mandarin is to reach half of the HSK 4 and be able to have longer conversations
My language goals for 2023 are to brush up my english a bit 🇬🇧, reach C1 in french 🇫🇷, and get to B1+ - low B2 in German 🇩🇪
I've always wanted to learn Japanese and I started learning in 2020 and now I have a tutor :)
Bonne chance!
頑張ってください
Yo dude, I'm going to Japan in July aswell! pretty mad coincidence. however, I'm learning Spanish, mandarin and Turkish. wish you luck!
I have Assimil's Japanese course with French as the language of instruction, but to learn that language I'll need more resources, especially since Luca Lampariello talked about failing at Japanese, even while using the Assimil course. I'll link the video. *My Failure with Japanese* - ua-cam.com/video/0LN5PM7nOS8/v-deo.html

to be accepted in Italian class in my high school
-get more comfortable in reading and start writing Arabic
-speaking more Tunisian at home like I used to do
-learn new vocabulary and focus on grammar in Spanish 🇪🇸(to be prepared for the C1 exam next year)
-focus more on grammar and writing skills in English 🇺🇸 (to be prepared for the C1 exam next year)
-having bases in Portuguese Brazilian🇧🇷 (present my self…)
My language goal is to improve my german comprehension. Very simple. Eventually spoken german will follow, but I focus on comprehension. If you need some Quebec french conversation, it can be arranged. Have a nice year!
Viel Glück damit!!
Lol
Great video as always. Wishing you the best in ‘23. L’chaim
My 2023 language goals are:
Improving all of my languages as much as possible (English 🇺🇸 French 🇨🇵 Portuguese 🇧🇷 and Italian 🇮🇹. My native language is Spanish. PD: The flags also represent which accent I've learned, so please British and Portuguese people don't be mad)
Learning Dutch.
So a lot more reading, Netflix, podcasts and looking up words.
kudos to you 🎉
Nice template. I'm a total language learning newbie so my goals aren't as ambitious. I'm concentrating on Italian and ASL. Mostly through Duolingo, Pimsleur, iTalki, podcasts and Netflix shows (lol).
And your template will help. I'm goi g to get it. Great channel and thanks 😊 👍🏾
thanks for all the support! good luck this year :)
My goals are:
🇺🇸English: to reach a B2 level, focus more on grammar and improve my conversational skills.
🇧🇷 Brazilian Portuguese: I just started to learn it about 2 weeks ago and I'm going to live in Brazil in April for 18 months, so my goals are to get in a conversational level before moving to Brazil, read some books and have fun learning the language and Brazilian Culture.
🇭🇹 Haitian Creole: To learn some basic vocab and phrases for being able to communicate easier with my Haitian friend and as an exchange because She's learning my native language(Spanish🇩🇴).
you’re epic
@@elyssedavega Omg, thanks Sis!
You're awesome, btw I'm so exciting 'cause your almost reaching 100k followers congratulations!
It would be my biggest of honor to somehow help you with Hebrew, My knowledge of Hebrew is VAST and profound, I'm a not only a native speaker but my mom is a Hebrew teacher herself. in brief:
In this video, the speaker discusses their language learning goals for 2023.
Of course I need to develop grammar, especially In annoying Romance languages but I’m in love with all of them and want to be fluent
It’s a little bit sad for me that I can’t learn more just because I don’t have time with my other aspects of life and also I want to be really fluent and it’s really difficult for more than +-4 languages
lots of speaking practice will both help your accent and solidify grammar structures!!
Viel Erfolg with achieving your goals for the year!
Funnily, I picked up Mandarin again after dropping it in 2020/21, also because I was too HSK focused (and didn't know how to learn it in a fun way) ^^
Now I use an Anki app, learn grammar as soon as I need it and it's going great! Yesterday, I wrote various fun sentences and I never would've DREAMED to be able to do it hahahah
Hope you're gonna have a blast like me :D
My main language goal this year is to get the Goethe-Zertifikat B2, probably in Q3 as well. Also I want to reach a B1-B2 level in Mandarin looking forward to taking TOCFL Band B next year. And at last but not least, I'm working on my Arabic too, I want to get to an intermediate level in MSA and a lower intermediate conversational level in Levantine Arabic. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the process.
good luck!! cool to hear you’re also studying in quarters :)
absolutely loved this video!
:) 💕
👍 your english is great!!

Making it fun and taking it easy is the best part about being a beginner!
It'd be amazing if you could do a video about your first steps when you're learning a language!
Saludos desde de España!
You’re amazing ❤
Great content, thanks! My language goals are Spanish and German. I’m not good at languages so I’ll be watchin some more of your vids for tips. 😊
That's an interesting approach to switch languages every month. I might try this with the languages I'm intermediate in
it works for me :)
Hebrew is, unfortunately, still a dream for now - i don't think i can do four languages at once, including Polish which is my main language at uni 😅
wow, good luck balancing those!!

The same thing for me, now im trying to get a grasp of russian with duolingo&other resources, but i'll can't wait to study hebrew💐💐

My goals are to get an A1 certificate in japanese (for school application)+ finishing my kanji book (i'm at 777 out of 2223) ; to reach B2 or C1 for the english certification i'm taking in march ; to get more conversational in german because i'm fine with reading and comprehension but I cannot get one sentence correctly (as well as just taking up my level which I think is around A2+/B1-) and (if I find time for it because school yk) continuing with spanish (because I always start again and again without getting anywhere)
epic!!
Happy new year elyless
Thanks elyless 😀😀😀
Honestly I've given up on setting goals with language. Instead, I focus on, "Okay, what can I actually DO? What's the routine?" Before, I would set goals and setting the goal felt like enough, so I would never follow through on the action plan. So now I focus on the system and I figure any goals I would have set will be accomplished anyway as a natural consequence of having a routine. (If any of that makes sense? lmao)
Speaking long-term, I would like to get to a C1 in Spanish and I'd also like to revive my Chinese and French.
My 2023 language goal is to reach N4 level in japanese, and read a few french books.

My language goal is to take the JLPT N5 exam later this year. Good luck everyone and have fun :D
My goal is 2 keep practicing french when the school year ends n become more fluent, and learn some sign language since it would be helpful for me
I know it is only a little bit goals but I just wanna be reasonable
sounds awesome!!
Viel Glück! Dieses Jahr hoffe ich auf Deutsch B1 erreichen, entweder nur Wissen oder der Prüfung bestehen. Im Moment bin ich A2. Ich habe einen Deutschen Kurs bei Goethe angemeldet.
my goal is go with the flow
Im studying Spanish to travel to Columbia. On the side I'm studying Chinese, German, and Dutch.
Language goals for 2023
Getting to an advance level in english, portuguese and french (the only one I'm actually learning in a language school lol)
Getting to a basic level in German and get better at my non-existent turkish Xd
(I'd like to certificate my english and portuguese, I need a job JAJAJ)
Maybe I'll get a grasp in Italian 😂 why not
Love your videos btw :)) Saludos desde Colombia
@@elyssedavega Not sure what I said that triggered you to be hostile.
Thanks :)
My goals are
German b2 -> c1
Spanish a2-> b2
Being overwhelmed.
I plan to get better in French, Korean, and asl
