- Sony A7IV commercial shoot with Digitalfoto Thanos SE
So I shot another commercial with the Sony A7IV. This time I challenged myself and used the Digitalfoto Thanos SE and it performed great. Not how I would normally film commercials as this is a very "run and gun" style set up. I prefer to add a few more things in my work flow as the DIgitalfoto Hook vest/easy rig suits me much better as I love hand held filming.
I normally film my commercials with the Sony FX6 but the A7IV really is keeping up with my cinema camera very well.
The Thanos SE is pretty much perfect for filmmakers wanting a light set up and something to take the weight off their arms for long periods of filming. Could be perfect for wedding videographers and event videographers.

This is such a wicked little setup! Small cameras taking over the world!
New way to film a feature film 😂
Sony a7iv comes stock on 2.4ghz band but almost all video transmission systems I know of are 5ghz, sony added 5ghz to the a7iv (no idea why it's not on by default) and when I switched to it the imaging edge app latency and connection got way better. Give it a try if you haven't already.
This is a pretty awesome set up. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks drew
Are you going to do a THANOS SE vs THANOS PRO II comparison? I'd love to see that.
Oh that’s in interesting one!
Would be very interested in this, trying to decide between the two right now!
Hi Jason, I have a Sony a7 IV and a Ronin RS3 gimbal. Which vest body support system do you recommend I buy? Plz 🙏 helping
Great video. I just picked this item up today. I'm thinking it may be a faulty model... No matter how loose I make the 2 knobs on the arm, both segments still point upward. I can push them down with some force, but then they pop right back up. Am I doing something wrong, or does it sound like I may have gotten a dud and need to return?
Awesome product review mate. Amazing rig 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you again 🙌🏽
What are the barn door ND filter you have on the camera? I've been looking for one but never know which one to go with.
Cons: When you want to go to the bathroom. Wearing this outdoors during winter with your jacket on.
maybe try go to bathroom before you shoot = fix
with camera stabilization and the z-axis of the arm can you get some smooth pan shots without the gimbal if the camera was like just connected to a small monopod
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the great review video - I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they have def helped me figure out what gear to buy. I have a question though: why did you make the decision to not show us any of the shots this support system can produce?
Doesn’t seem like my thanos pro 2 or X vest would be compatible with this spring arm huh?
What's the ring diameter? Can I fit my monopod in it? Thanks.
Hey Jason. How high can you rise the camera with the Thanos se?
Great review video
Thank you! Great product
I want this!
So good
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema I’m a big dude tho, you think a round belly fella could fit this?
I love your videos, but this is one of the worst supporting vests ever designed. I used it for only ONE day using a 6kg/15lbs rig (BMPCC 6K, RS2, Sigma 18-35) and the vertical angle adjusting knob does not tighten any more. The horizontal adjusting knob is already wearing out with metal specks shedding off every time it is adjusted. Everything else you said about this vest was correct, but you should have first conducted stress tests on the knobs to verify the manufacturer’s claims. Some poor bloke will buy it based on your recommendation only to have his/her camera rig crashing down after the knobs suddenly fail. I wouldn’t suggest this support vest for any rig over 10lbs.
5:03 what is that thing?
Found it, it's called Nitecore BlowerBaby!
What is your oppinion on using this thanos-gimbal-dslr setup for longer 2-3h forest hikes? Is it too heavy for hiking?
Depends on the grade of the hike. It will be okay if you’re fit. Definitely takes a lot off the arms
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema Will get fit then my friend. Thanks for the reply.
Ahh nothing better than some chicken and some a7iv on screen.
Haha sounds like a good day
But how stable is this when someone is walking. And compared to the Thanos pro ii ?
Thanos pro ii is much better for walking stability
The only question is, when you use an arm like this, how do you operate the gimbal?
Under sling is my favourite. But controlling the gimbal is as normal but with support
what camera would you use to film you holding the gimbal?
Sony a7iii
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema Looks pretty as hell
What is the cool belt bag you have in this video ?
It is actually a tool belt form the hardware store
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema that’s awesome !! I am curious if you could tell me the model or brand haha ? Looks like it would be super helpful! Love your work !!
You are welcome XD
Thank you
Guys dont buy this vest, Im inventing a better vest that will carry Jason for you and he will film.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bought this on your recommendation. You are so WRONG.
What do you mean exactly? Whats your experience with the vest?
NEVER BUY THIS PIECE OF SHUTE!
Or say goodbye to your back with NO vertical stabilization or help AT ALL!
