Kid Icarus is the Nintendo series with the most potential but unfortunately there's only one person who can make a new game. I do hope that Sakurai isn't the director of the next Smash Bros. so he'll be free to work on other things.
Despite a rough launch+first year, I’d say that the 3DS overall had a very strong lineup and some of my favorite games from their respective series. Fire Emblem Awakening, A Link Between Worlds, Pokémon Sun/Moon, Kid Icarus Uprising, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Kirby Triple Deluxe AND Planet Robobot, Mario and Luigi Dream Team…the list goes on. And I definitely don’t regret all the time+hours I put into them and many other games during my middle/high school years.
Wonder if the “too cool for video games” was a universal experience for late millennials/cuspers. Might be because the gaming industry was too focused on hardcore gaming experiences at the time, which drove out people who wanted to come across as “normal,” since being perceived as a geek would draw in negative attention during that time (and bullying, for some people)
@@ganbarazan I cry when I think about Pokémon X and Y, it's only been 10 years ago but things were different back then. The music and the first time seeing all of these towns and routes. I was happy in life too back then. At least, happier than I am now.
Kid Icarus at this point is pretty much for Nintendo what Darkstalkers is for Capcom, the characters are essentially more well known for the crossovers rather than the series that they originated from.
When i was young, I borrowed a fellow 3DS from my cousin and the game i remember playing was Mario 3D land and MAN was it so fun, the levels were so fun and memorsble and also i remember getting that invincible tanooki powerup, damn how nostalgic those days were
I enjoyed the 3DS era I remember I was blown away when seeing my face in face raiders and that AR cards were characters come to life and the Mii plaza was the real shiiit. Man the 3DS was packed with a lot of gimmick I can go on and on. My first game was street fighter 4 and my favourite game was kid icaurs uprising ❤.
@@orangeslash1667 As a Kid Icarus and Owlboy fan, I'll fill in and say they both are really good but I say they fill different niches! The gameplay styles are very different and I'd say Owlboy is a LOT easier. The devs have stated it's very inspired by the original KI though, and it had a 10 year long development by a small indie studio. It's one of those games where when I play it I can just feel the passion that went into it all.
My first experience on 3DS was just playing it with my coworker during downtime and playing Mario part 7 on it. I didn't have during downtime and playing Mario Kart 7 on it. This was in 2013 I think. It wasn't until 2014 that I decided to get the 2DS because it was $70 cheaper than the 3DS and I found that whenever I played on a 3DS that I almost never used the 3D feature so it just made sense to get the 2DS and save money and still play all the new games. Had a lot of fun with that handheld but since having a Nintendo switch I haven't felt much reason to play the 2DS. I have much more fonder memories with the original DS anyways.
So in terms of kid Icarus what happened was Around brawl and smash 4 iwata told sakurai he needs a break from smash and he can work on whatever ip he wants and sakurai said “I wanna do kid Icarus” and iwata was like sure why not So for an ip to come back it has to be pitched and devs have to be thinking about it
Amazing video. I bought a lot of 3ds games last year because of fomo and i don't regret it. The games are amazing and i like the 3d effect on the new 3ds. Donkey kong and Kirby Triple Deluxe have amazing 3d effect.
I'm disappointed the 3DS didn't get a great FPS game. The DS got a whole bunch of FPS games that were essentially N64 Demakes, but the handheld equivalent of a GameCube didn't get one FPS game. Would a 3DS FPS game beat Killzone Mercenary on PS Vita? Not likely, but I still would've liked to see at least one or two 3DS FPS games.
I've only recently been playing Fire Emblem Awakening and it really is as good as people say. It's genuinely insane how many interaction you can make between characters but also it's straight up just a really good tactical rpg. Definitely a game worthy of saving an entire franchise
Sucks that kid Icarus uprising didn’t meet their expectations on sales that it went back to being buried. We will never see it being remastered to current platforms.
I remember playing the absolute shit out of Kid Icarus, especially the online mode (but I'd play against bots because we couldn't afford internet back then). Definitely one of my favorite 3DS games - it was just so unique and interesting.
I didn't get a 3ds until after the New 3ds XL came out. I was mainly playing the 3ds fighting games. Only a few of my games were non-fighting. Mario Kart 7, Pokemon Y, Ocarina of Time 3ds, Starfox 64-3D, & a digital download of the pokemon TCG gameboy color game
Awakening is a great game for casual fans but a horrible fire emblem game gameplay wise, many of us consider it to be the worst game since you can break it super easily and solo the game. Of course for people who don't care about the gameplay, its a power fantasy which explains why it was so loved. Fates went on to fix all of awakenings mechanics and it's considered to be the best fire emblem gameplay wise.

Sakurai has been stuck developing smash bros literally for years (3ds,wii u and switch) so no time to make kid Icaurs
At this point I'm honestly hoping that Ultimate is the last Smash Bros. so we can finally get some other games from Sakurai

It took so long for Kid Icarus to get a sequel
Fun Fact: the director of the NES Kid Icarus would create Mario Land 1 on the gameboy.
