FYI. I live less than 10mins from here. This place has completely changed since the review. Huge lines. I had to wait 45mins and got both the cheesesteak and pizza just to try with a friend. It was great. Huge support from the community right now.

people can find dave's honesty abrasive, i find it incredibly useful. You dont want people telling you everything you do is the best thing in the world when you clearly fucked up. Your friends are the ones who are honest with you and thats how you improve at everything you do. This is peak dave and i love it. that cheese steak looked great btw.
When people talk about LA they talk about how you never know where you stand with anybody cause it’s all fake niceness. No matter what you’re gonna get some sugar coated niceness, and after a while it’s incredibly isolating.

I think their point was that unless you have eaten there personally, you shouldn’t be promoting bad reviews if you don’t know if they’re legitimate. People leave bad reviews on businesses for personal reasons all the time.

Don't know what you mean by "in the area", but if your in the Clearwater / Palm Harbor area you may want to try Delco's Original Steaks in Dunedin. They fly in their rolls from Philly.

You're entitled to your opinion about Delco's, but they do have thousands of 5 star reviews. Delco's was first recommended to me by someone from Germantown. Also, Delco Cheesesteaks are served at Philadelphia Phillies spring training games, but what do I know. I must be an idiot for thinking Delco's might have a good cheesesteak. I didn't know you had to be in the city limits of Philadelphia to get a decent cheesesteak. I bet that pizza Dave reviewed was also hot garbage. He was lying when he gave it a seven nine. Thanks for correcting me.

I get mistakes, I work at a pizza shop that Dave came and reviewed. There has to be a level of quality control and the fact that they sent that pizza out means that they would send that out to their customers. I hope they take this as a learning experience and start checking their pizzas.

Thank you for giving them a second shot I know it's not the normal standard but when you think about places putting out pizzas all day there has to be a mistake here or there.
I don't live in Florida but I have a few friends who live in the St Pete Tampa area I already told them to check this place out. They were originally from the Philly Jersey area I'm sure they'll love the cheesesteak.
Dave is a 100% legit solid dude. To afford a spot a redo knowing it can't be how all of their pies are done, that speaks volumes to Dave's character and we know it's an 8.1 regardless since he didn't score the first one.

If you have a new oven which needs some time to get used to you have to check the bottom of the pizza before delivering to the customer. They didn't check the bottom or they didn't want to make a new one because of costs.
The oven is not the problem here it's their work ethic.

I lived around the corner from Violet Stone for about 6 months. Was so stoked to try it when I learned they were from Philly, cause so am I. Tried it once. Never went back. The first pizza, the burnt bottom one, is how their pizza is supposed to be according to the owners. Read their Yelp reviews. If you complain they tell you to go to Dominoes. If Dave was a regular customer they would’ve told him to go F himself for asking for a remake. I guarantee no customer will ever get a pizza from them that is cooked like the second one.

I've been there a few times and it is ALWAYS burnt. Much worse than that first pie too. They have a lot of google reviews complaining about the same thing and the owner just replies back saying that thats what well done pizza is. There's a big difference between well done/having some char and being burnt on both sides.

If you check their yelp page. All of their pizzas looks burnt as hell. That wasn't a messup, that was their actual pizza they cook.

My son and I visited and went straight for the Cheesesteak 9.2 confirmed. We don't think we've ever actually tasted a Philly after eating here, lived in Florida much of our lives and the Philly Steaks down here largely just average. Had the pizza as well, it was great but would grab the cheesesteak 1st every time. Real Philadelphia owners, staff was super nice to us, we were able to sip on some beers while we were waiting in the tiny store, mind you we brought the beers ourselves. The location is moving in the Fall, not exactly sure of the new address my hunch is people will claim the original hole in the wall location was better but I wish the owners nothing but success when they relocate. Great review, great experience, never thought I would watch so many pizza reviews but Dave is fun and honest, lots of spots in Florida to try.
in the video the bread looked a little on the stiff side , but it's a video so could of had some softness as it should , did it?

I am a Phillies fan who attends Spring Training every year. I stay in Clearwater and have been going to Delco's in Dunedin for years. This place offers great Cheesesteaks and Hoagies.
I was in St Pete when I first saw this review and tried to try it out, but they had run out of food due to the "Portnoy Effect".
My friend lives in St Pete and said their sandwiches and pizza are both great.
I can't wait to try it out next year.

It's not always politics or w/e, just good food, we can all agree that good food, prepared by great people is something everyone enjoys and it brings people together. Something I think we all need.

1st time eating one of Dave's good reviews. Hyped this up to friends and family. We watched this and centered our day around visiting The Violet Stone. They all said Dave tripled their business easily. Glad to hear that news. The pizza and cheesesteaks were OK at best. There's no seating there (soon to change) (likely because of Dave), and it's a long wait for the food. The pizza and cheesesteaks were OK at best.
Jersey kid turned Tampanian for 25+ years here. Austin really flopped hard on the locations thus far. None of the locals have gone to the places you been to so far except this one. Please don't screw up the Tampa side choices. Santoro's, Due Amiici, and Slice of St Pete are my top 3.

Dave has a heart. I read the reviews on google. They always burn the pizza, then comment back to the reviewer “that’s out style”. Wonder why they didn’t tell Dave that. They made evey excuse in the book. Then Dave a guy that is a marketing genius, try’s to give them some advice on advertising the Cheese Steaks, the idiot girl says “that’s corny” to Dave.
If I were Dave I would have laughed and walked off. This place will be out of business in a year. I read all the terrible service comments add they burn the pizzas and are too dumb, even when Dave told them to make him another one to realize they don’t have a “style”.
I am all for mom and pop places, they better hope their mom and pop have a ton of money to invest if they are going to stay open
