Nervous dog tip: This is not about obedience, it is about state-of-mind and feeling good/confident.

Margie and Jaeger head to downtown Durango for the first time. This visit is not about obedience at this point, it is about their state-of-mind: trying to get them to feel good about being out and about. Sniffing, exploring, seeing people, getting treats, leading the walk, etc. I am practicing the obedience at home where they feel good and are very confident (off-leash with thier friends). At some point we will marry the two together. For happy go-lucky and non insecure/inexperienced dogs I would be working some obedience while on a walk in this kind of enviroment. But for these two nervous Nelly's, just being in this busy environment makes them anxious, so I am trying to find ways to make them have enjoyment with the experience, rather than just force them to be there (and overtime it is fun for all involved!)
