Hi can I ask please how many lessons you did with this dog working on recall without the e collar? And is this the first lesson with the electronic collar or before the dog already knows the sensation from another practice? Thank you very. Great training as always. Please if you can make content on leash reactivity ita will help so many owners around the world.

Thanks for your comment. Most dogs understand what “COME“ means. If the dog has an 80% recall then often I will go right to the Ecollar once I have formed a better relationship with that dog thru TWC concepts, so that the dog will WANT to come to me. But there’s always a bit of a progression and I ALWAYS get the recall when I say “COME“: starting with the dogs motivation, then a flexi-lead, then going onto tracking collar with a long line, and then then finally just the tracking collar with the Ecollar. Bottomline, they never get away with NOT coming to me that is what I am working toward, more than just Ecollar. And to maybe better answer your question, I do not do any “conditioning” as other trainers say they do. (I know you asked “how many times” but it’s not really a quantitative thing. It’s a qualitative thing.)
Leash reactivity - to speak more of this, I would have to understand what you mean by it. Your vision in your mind of leash reactivity might look different than my minds version so it’s hard to do this via a comment on UA-cam. I hope that makes sense. I would definitely hire a professional trainer to help you mitigate that if that’s what you’re dealing with. You can look for a local TWC trainer to help you.

What do I do if my dog ignores tone, and is running. After something. Do I use the other button or just hold tone down continuously. And how can I teach her to respond to that

You can look at some of my how to videos to help you. I have a playlist of Ecollar use. If you have a nervous dog or an aggressive dog - not saying you have either- but if you do, I would hire a good trainer to help. You also need to use a directional leash to help the dog understand how to “turn off” the pressure of collar cause you are actually using the leash to show him/her

Hold the T button down and at 1.2 seconds (if you hold it) it turns to stimulation

I know Ivan also uses the flexi with the prong but I’m scared to try it myself. It looks like there’s always a pull on it causing an aversive and impeding true freedom. Is the idea just that the dog will get used to that slight pull? Does that result in him being desensitized to it for when you actually want to utilize it?

Just have the prong quite loose and I have found no issue. In fact, Ivan will mention the ridiculousness of how most trainers recommend having a “high and tight prong and that it is like having a gun to your head.” I completely
agree and that “high and tight” is totally unnecessary. I advise my clients that they MUST pay and make sure that if the dog gets to the end of the leash that the handler better either A) move with the dog or B) say something prior to them hitting the end. ( which is the case with any leash or any pressure ).

@@leadoffleashk9training taughtness with any collar that has prongs (including an e-collar) is to prevent collar movement which can cause chafing.

@@cam_cecilthat is not my experience. I have never had any chaffing with any collar I use. Mainly because I pay attention.
