The career mode looks amazing, and the fact that we can land anywhere and get out of the plane and WALK is insane, especially in this level of details around most of the globe.
Sometimes you just can't think of anything to say but "wow". This is one of those times for me, especially the island and Mt. Fuji shots. Just landing randomly and looking around could fill your days!
It only matters how it looks in motion, because it can get jarring if LOD levels keep changing, or shadows suddenly popup. Many games look great in static screenshots, but quickly fall apart graphicly when in motion.
That's really my only concern. I really hope they've made improvements to prevent that. Once you have an area in the cache it will likely prevent this from happening.
the physics look a little awkward with plants and trees agitated by wind and I have to admit some of the plants look a little fake and flat if you look carefully, also it doesn't seem like plant and trees are affected by wind unless it's the wind generated by your aircraft, so most often plant and trees will look pretty static. I know though, that's probably the last issue for most users out there.
I can't tell if that cloud was hand crafted or procedurally generated. If you look at the left side of the right, you can see some obvious cloud copy paste happening. I'm not knocking the game, freaking looks gorgeous. I'll be getting this MSFlight for sure. Skipped 2020... and all previous versions lol.
I dearly hope the improvement in elevation resolution is also present in other regions, especiall the Alps. To this day, immersion is quickly broken while soaring in any sim, including MSFS2020, because of the ever present vertically stretched texture maps one is typically flying very close to at the same height for a long time. And I wouldn't care if it was masked by artificially created, incorrect detail, for as long as I don't have to look at the stretched stuff.
Would be interesting to see if every home in the UK still has a mini forest growing in their back gardens, and i HOPE the needles are better rendered as its my back yard
I was was going to buy MSFS2020 when they announced MSFS2024, and i decided to wait for its release. I hope the game comes out with a fair number of missions and some tutorials.
The ground detail and especially the trees are already worth the upgrade alone for me. I love bush flying and landing at scenic locations. It really werethe half transparent sprite trees, the lack of rocks and other detail and low quality gras that put a damper on things. Not anymore it seems. I wonder how many bodies of water will really have detailled rocks and pebbles on the shore like that Mount Fuji one.
Also with the terrain update it improves the bumpiness of the ground so it will actually be challenging to land in areas now, not smooth landing on a rocky river bank anymore
"I wonder how many bodies of water will really detailled rocks and pebbles on the shore like that Mount Fuji one." Fixed: "I wonder how many bodies of water have shores with detailed rocks and pebbles like those near Mount Fuji." This clarifies the meaning.
I already spend a ton of time with MSFS 2020, now I'm going to spend an obscene amount of time with MSFS 2024 because this is leaps and bounds above what we have now. I can't wait to walk around places I used to roam when I was a kid in Beaverton, Oregon. November 19th can't come soon enough!
the shot where its outside of the helicopter on the ground is just insane, it looks way too good to be a videogame, but i guess this is where videogames are, its crazy how in only like 30 years videogames have gone from 16 bit to this insanity. im sure in the next 50 years games are going to be just insane. but pc's are also going to cost like $20k 💀
I will believe it when I see it. They still haven't even done proper water masking in tropical areas that have very shallow or extremely clear water that allows you to see the reef below.
Indeed, I'm hyped to explore all the gorgeous areas, but don't get fooled: there are still areas that look quite bad in 2024. For instance, I saw a preview video flying over Stockholm, with many of the old issues. Roads look awful, 2D boats are docked under water, melted buildings, and very noticeable pop-in. So it seems that the best-case graphics are way better, but the worst-case about the same.
It's a shame with all the raytracing push in the games industry, nobody's figured out how to efficiently create BVHs at scale. Relying on screenspace reflections and AO are the only issues these visuals really have.
Honestly... my gaming computer is almost 4 years old now and it's sitting somewhere between the recommended and ideal specs. It doesn't seem like it's super-demanding unless you want to crank everything to the max.
@@JordanSugarman yeah, im just wondering based on 2020 which i had the specs to run, but it ran badly.. my current rig is above the recommended specs.. but these days recommended is more like it can run it ok-ish than actual specs than run it perfectly.. and minimum is usually just a lie.
Some of the colors in MFS 2024 looked very subdued compared to MFS 2020. Also the wildlife in the game game from Frontier Dev. There is an article online about it, google if interested. There is also a thread on the Elite Fdev forums about it. I cannot wait to see and hear more about MFS 2024
Hi mate, I think it's a step in the right direction, the career mode is what I'm looking forward to as it gives structure to the game. I have both PC and Xbox versions, but after the last update the Xbox overheats, so not good. I can't wait to try the Magnificent Gyrocopters in 2024. Keep going with your vids, always a good watch, and maybe you should appear at the end when you sign off?
Nice to see lenticular clouds around Fuji-san and obviously, the ground textures are improved significantly. I'm more concerned with things like the AP and ATC issues being resolved, but yeah. graphis-wise, quite the improvement, particularly with regard to the increase in structure/detail for mountainous terrain (which was never believable in 2020--and now better than X-Plane 12). Still not photo-real, but it really doesn't have to be when viewed from any significant altitude.
Thanks for the video update, I think I must of watched most of them on UA-cam...but I would love to know the exact hardware that they used to show all of these videos off. 😊
I haven't played the predecessor because I found it too complicated to get things started just to explore the world a bit. I hope they've made it easier for casual players like me, cause this game looks way to beautiful to miss out on.
Great Video, When looking at those spec's on MIN / REC / IDEAL towards the end, makes me wonder for us mortals on Xbox if this is going to playable. I'm on Series X and that struggle now, so me thinks that FS2024 on a series S is going to be a no gamer.
For anyone concerned abt system requirements, i was part of the early insider stress test and i played the game on a Gaming Laptop (i5 11400h and a 3060 80Watts) and it was more than playable at 1080p medium settings and still looked AMAZING
Looking foward to it but I'm waiting for the after release reviews, since I woudl guess the Screenshots were really taken with a Hardware that is like "Ideal + + X". Not to mention the reviews on how the flight physics are and how the looks compare to the areas that I usually fly in. Still, I'm excited :D
When I moved from 32GB to 64GB of ram with FS2020 it made a huge difference in some of the photogrammetry cities. It was night and day. So, I'm not really surprised they're going to say it's the ideal setup. Some of the later photogrammetry cities already benefitted hugely from that extra memory.
In a LOT of these screenshots you can see two things, first of all PBR materials, which allow a 3D affect through illusion with absolutely no performance loss compared to actually modeling each rock in 3D, and second of all you can see they have FINALLY removed the weird green tint that plagued MSFS 2020.

And I've hopes, I'll be able to play it with my 4080 and 7800x3d (Edit: And 64GB of RAM, but seeing that now come games that call for such an amount, I consider upgrading to 128GB and maybe a 5080 or even 5090 in not too distant future).

The new sim looks unreal. Unreal engine like good 🙂 I'll get another 32 GB of RAM and sell the 4090 and get a 5090. Then I'll be set for the foreseeable future I hope. I'm also pumped to learn that the new sim is massively better optimized, now utilizing more cores. With my Pimax Crystal, this will be absolutely amazing I think. well if they managed to keep their word, your 4090 will be more than enough (depending on resolution of course) as they claimed same if not lower sys reqs.. thinner client, so if anything think about upgrading your internet bandwidth (unless it's good already, of course).. EDIT: I just read PIMAX, i guess you might wanna upgrade the card? no clue as i'm a 1080p bum, but if it runs well now chances are the new one will run equally fine.
@@almightyIrie Yeah, I just want to bump my system to the max, and be free of any spec worries for some time. What we really need, for those already in the 2020😊 is more randomness outside the MS sphere of influence. I mean a few photos of prepared demo areas is a pretty well versed sales technique... So, before we all jump in with significant expense to upgrade our PC,s let's have some independence. Quite honestly, a lot of what I've seen this far is not way off what I have now.
I remember dreaming 10 years ago about a google earth like game/software with this insane level of detail. when I woke up I thought how it would be impossibile to actually create something like this. I never imagined I would be proven wrong in ten years
On the "ray tracing" topic I by now heard many times that MSFS 24 will feature it across videos which is not entirely true. Sebastian Vloch mentioned at FS Expo that this ONLY applies to shadows. Well have the option to activate ray traced shadows but that's about it at least for now on release. What we won't get on release is: ray traced lighting (the sim will have it's own global illumination system again) and also no ray traced reflections (which I would have loved to see). Path tracing I guess is out of scope entirely for this iteration. Just to keep expectations settled.
This would also be good enough for a mountain biking, driving or even walking simulator. So much detail for a flight sim it almost feels like we're squandering it by flying.
I have a 13900k clocked at 6.1ghz. 128 gigs of ram and a 4090 and the current Flight Sim prior to the 2024 release.. doesn’t like city areas haha. While in most games I’m getting jaw dropping fps at native 4k while taking advantage of my 144hz display… I wonder if this new Flight Sim will take advantage of the latest DLSS and frame gen. And even so… I wonder if my GPU will meet its match when it comes to this simulator haha. Alan Wake gives my PC a run for its money but stays above 60fps. I have a feeling this sim is gonna make my PC feel dated. I just hope it’s well optimized. Looks amazing!
There are lots of comments about clouds but I remember that before MSFS2020 was introduced, there were lots of screenshots from MS about dramatic clouds and towering cumulus with significant vertical extension such as thunderstorm. Where have these gone? Why are we making a bit deal about Cirrus when the towering cumulus and other stratus we were promised 5 years ago are still missing?
I would wager a very good amount of the ~4% with very high specs like 64gb & 4080s are the hardcore simmers that already have obscene setups and aren't afraid to shell out big $$$ on their rigs to see those extra 4 blades of grass on max settings. I think the rec specs are pretty reasonable and should still give an amazing experience

If the waterway edges truly are enhanced as much as these images showcase, that will be a welcome improvement. Right now, in FS2020, roads and waterways are jarringly bad at times.

@@CVSiN lmao i don't mind DCS, i used to fly it a lot and it has its purpose for sure... but whenever i'm not flying a Hornet, i'm picking MSFS all day every day, as bush flying in MSFS is 2nd to non... Did you ever try bush flying in DCS?? duh.
The career mode looks amazing, and the fact that we can land anywhere and get out of the plane and WALK is insane, especially in this level of details around most of the globe.
Good video on what to expect with graphics upgrade from 2020 to 2024 Can't wait.
My PC just groaned with old age 😅🤣😂
If you have a reasonable PC, then it should actually use less hardward and bandwidth for the same level of detail.
@@dtrjones well I'm over Recommended Spec, so here's hoping.
Your PC, my pc couldn’t even load it up being a 2004 Nov build….
Gently patting my 1660 Ti on the back🥲
Way more is dependent on your download speed. That's why the sim is only 50GB.
Me: Hey PC you can run FS2024, right?
My PC: Do you have a fire extinguisher handy?
That cloud on Fuji is sick
PEBBLES
Great comparssion video. Very cool.
I'm more about the career mode.
rocks and pebbles should be everywhere, its proceduraly rendered. look at the avangel video fort a good showoff of bushflying.
Also with the terrain update it improves the bumpiness of the ground so it will actually be challenging to land in areas now, not smooth landing on a rocky river bank anymore
"I wonder how many bodies of water will really detailled rocks and pebbles on the shore like that Mount Fuji one."
Fixed:
"I wonder how many bodies of water have shores with detailed rocks and pebbles like those near Mount Fuji."
This clarifies the meaning.
Great video! Side by side shows the effort. Guess I'll getting it too.
This game makes me extremely happy to own a 4080 ! Really looking forward to this one 🙏🏼
Very exited about the career mode and the mod scene!
the shot where its outside of the helicopter on the ground is just insane, it looks way too good to be a videogame, but i guess this is where videogames are, its crazy how in only like 30 years videogames have gone from 16 bit to this insanity. im sure in the next 50 years games are going to be just insane. but pc's are also going to cost like $20k 💀
I’m sure in 50 years all games will be 4D vr with graphics at the same intensity as real-life.
@@bradimi3776 fr though
MSFS 2024 detailed planes & graphics are legit amazing & wonderful rn, I think is going to be like this when it comes-out.
Looks incredible. Would like to see some city comparisons and vehicles on roads
1:50 Mt.Fuii in msfs24 is ridiculously beautiful, i mean look at each and every rock near the lake
And the reflections in the water, huge difference 🫴🏼
I will believe it when I see it. They still haven't even done proper water masking in tropical areas that have very shallow or extremely clear water that allows you to see the reef below.
Indeed, I'm hyped to explore all the gorgeous areas, but don't get fooled: there are still areas that look quite bad in 2024. For instance, I saw a preview video flying over Stockholm, with many of the old issues. Roads look awful, 2D boats are docked under water, melted buildings, and very noticeable pop-in.
So it seems that the best-case graphics are way better, but the worst-case about the same.
I think they were limited in the old engine but hopefully in this one they have greater scope for improvement.
Flying out to a location and exploring on foot! So Cool! Thanks to the developers and Microsoft. Laurie. NZ. 😊
for those on steam. it will be avaliable for preorder on sept 26th
Good to know, and as much as i avoid PS's like the mother-in-law, MS is a safe bet for just that.
those new graphics look insanely good, cant wait to play it
Tbh better graphics is just a bonus yo me, the thing that stand out is the career mode it such a BIG addition yo the game
😳WOW This takes the term "open world" to a completely new level. Insane!
Great informative video. Thanks so much.
Magnificent video. Thanks very.
It was already stunning but it's amazing to see the quick advance in rendering quality.
Holy donkey balls. I always thought this was an update....i did not now its a new game omg omg omg ...pre-ordering now. THANK YOU for the vid my man!!
It's a shame with all the raytracing push in the games industry, nobody's figured out how to efficiently create BVHs at scale. Relying on screenspace reflections and AO are the only issues these visuals really have.
128GB of RAM here, reporting for duty.
I’ll have to come over to your house to play this!
wow looks amazing !
Great that the graphics have improved.. but is it cheaper to buy a cessna than afford a computer that can run this? 2020 was already a nightmare
Honestly... my gaming computer is almost 4 years old now and it's sitting somewhere between the recommended and ideal specs.
Also, 64gb of ram arent that expensive right now.
In a LOT of these screenshots you can see two things, first of all PBR materials, which allow a 3D affect through illusion with absolutely no performance loss compared to actually modeling each rock in 3D, and second of all you can see they have FINALLY removed the weird green tint that plagued MSFS 2020.
Great review. What did you mean by ray tracing is going to happen but in a different version of the sim?
Raytracing is in MSFS2024, but not in MSFS2020 (which some people hoped it would be in 2020).
@@ObsidianAnt oh yes, of course. Sorry I thought you meant there were different editions of 2024 that did and did not contain ray tracing
I’m going to use it as a travel on foot sim. Beautiful
This looks fantastic on my 11-yo pc with Canadian internet, getting 240p resolution!
I can see my house from here! ....mainly because I'm in my dining room...
Nice for specs!!!!!
I got a 7800X3D and a 4090, 64 gig 30CL 6k Speed Corsair Dominator Ram and playing on an Asus PG32UQX Monitor.
Going to use "Reshade " program to make the game even better looking!!!!

Great comparison showcase here. I'm curious how the roads/bridges look like in non-photogrammetry areas.
Can you compare cities and buildings ?
I live in Corsica. It's so realistic that I recognized the landscapes location in a second, holy donkey !
I remember, FS 2020 was already amazing, when I first saw the graphics, that they can top it to this degree (if it is like in the screens, I'll see after Nov. 19th) is amazing. And I've hopes, I'll be able to play it with my 4080 and 7800x3d (Edit: And 64GB of RAM, but seeing that now come games that call for such an amount, I consider upgrading to 128GB and maybe a 5080 or even 5090 in not too distant future).
thank you for a great show, I have a asus 3090 24. vram 32 gb ram intel i7-9700k 250 mps internet speed,I run msfs 2020 all at max to ultra settings and I get 60 fps,do you think my system will be ok for msfs 2024 to get that great graphis you showed
What the performance hit going to be like on series X with 2024?
It'll probably be lower optimized but heavier use of the cloud. The most important part is having an SSD.
this is legit insane!!
Thanks for all your great content, Ant.
Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
well if they managed to keep their word, your 4090 will be more than enough (depending on resolution of course) as they claimed same if not lower sys reqs.. thinner client, so if anything think about upgrading your internet bandwidth (unless it's good already, of course)..
Been gaming and simming on computers since the Commodore 64 (giving away my age somewhat here...LOL) and the hobby is still going strong. I'm totally mind blown to see what we an achieve these days, it's absolutely crazy. But thanks for the input, I am aware that I should already be more than OK. Take care 🙂
Just to keep expectations settled.
i don't think anybody expected path tracing, but thx.
@@almightyIrie you'll never know nowadays - people also expected Starfield to be a space flight simulator so...
Ai traffic/real-liveries included? Or that one foto was just for the show...
Those car mods/addons are gonna be wild with this sim fr
So cool, literally, it was a problem in FS2020 and looks even worse in 24, will need Nvidia filters to fix.
I never thought 2020 could be bettered. Looks like I may have to eat my hat?!
I'm seriously excited for 2024
This would also be good enough for a mountain biking, driving or even walking simulator. So much detail for a flight sim it almost feels like we're squandering it by flying.
I have a 13900k clocked at 6.1ghz. 128 gigs of ram and a 4090 and the current Flight Sim prior to the 2024 release.. doesn’t like city areas haha. While in most games I’m getting jaw dropping fps at native 4k while taking advantage of my 144hz display…
I wonder if this new Flight Sim will take advantage of the latest DLSS and frame gen. And even so… I wonder if my GPU will meet its match when it comes to this simulator haha. Alan Wake gives my PC a run for its money but stays above 60fps. I have a feeling this sim is gonna make my PC feel dated. I just hope it’s well optimized. Looks amazing!
Any thoughts how the sim will perform on the Xbox series x ??
There are lots of comments about clouds but I remember that before MSFS2020 was introduced, there were lots of screenshots from MS about dramatic clouds and towering cumulus with significant vertical extension such as thunderstorm. Where have these gone? Why are we making a bit deal about Cirrus when the towering cumulus and other stratus we were promised 5 years ago are still missing?
Learn to move on, you have a rig that needs updating
I would wager a very good amount of the ~4% with very high specs like 64gb & 4080s are the hardcore simmers that already have obscene setups and aren't afraid to shell out big $$$ on their rigs to see those extra 4 blades of grass on max settings. I think the rec specs are pretty reasonable and should still give an amazing experience
Some of those screenshots look great. I hope they manage to reduce the overhead and scale cpu performance a bit farther.
The fact that the ground in a flight simulator looks better than a lot of other normal video games is kind of mind-blowing.
It's unreal to me going by this video , that the sim when you are out of the plane , is as detailed , or even more than Crysis for PC was.
Insert Crysis style "Can you run it?"
@@Elwaves2925 Crysis is 17 years old. LOL
@@jonahfalcon1970 Yes it is. What's your point?
@@Elwaves2925 I can max out Crysis 17 years later lmao

Will be interesting to see what performance I get, I exceed the Ideal specs in all areas EXCEPT my GPU (3080 Ti) suspect I will not be playing this one in VR until I get my 5080...
I have pre-ordered the premium deluxe verion and I ordered the base 2020, when it came out, cant wait!
If the waterway edges truly are enhanced as much as these images showcase, that will be a welcome improvement. Right now, in FS2020, roads and waterways are jarringly bad at times.
the bandwidth required is nuts. Surprised nobody has mentioned it
Wow I hadn't expect to see such a gap in graphics !
hope the new collision geometry matches the updated graphics, i tried landing a helicopter on one of the pillars in monument valley, but ened up getting snagged on thin air
Cool, are they showing an AMD CPU should be paired with an AMD GPU only? Not an Nvidia RTX GPU? Etc. Thanks. Laurie. NZ.
I must say, while MSFS2024 did improve it also looks somehow brighter, the colors in MSFS2020 feel stronger. Like in the Grand Canyon comparison, while it seems more detailed the color palette is much weaker and similar.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is doing in 2020 and 2024 what it used to do back in 2004 and 2006 - push video game graphics and detail to the next fucking level.
i love it!
Did they fix the trees in the cities? In 2020 the tree density is way to high.
Cool. I can land and then go hiking and camping. VR is going to be phenomenal. If it works properly.
