    Thank you for making these videos and helping us fellow highboy owners keep these rigs going! Needing to do this on mine and this is going to come in very handy!

    Remember seeing those closed knuckle setups, very cool and robust. Then Disc brakes came in, with open knuckle, and then the Mighty D60 front end.

      I do prefer the knuckle bearing set up on these over ball joints or even the dana 60 king pin for sure!

    Great video Matt! Gonna have to take a closer look at my wiper seals. This video made it easy to understand the process. Might just have to do it.

    Nice work on the seal replacements Matt 🙂👍 Glad the radiator issue didn't cause more problems. I don't blame you one bit for selling it with an auction. Always seems to work best for the seller. Take care and happy wrenching 🔧🔩

    The reason I started watching your videos which is very good I am going to get a 73 highboy that the engine has been seized up but from looking at the pictures it doesn’t have any rust problems since it is here in Colorado I would like to fix me up one to tool around in I would like to put power steering on it and paint it the seat looks like it’s going to need re-apolstered and it doesn’t have a floor mat but at least I could see the floor wasn’t all rusted out

    One suggestion magnetic parts trays harbor freight and O'Reilly's is probably the cheapest option for them and pt or performance tools from O'Reilly's and advanced Auto parts usually would have the biggest assortment of sizes and shapes of them not just the 4-6 inch round bowls.. and if you need stuff like that when putting a motor in a truck you could always pick up a boltster silicone mat for putting bolts in the holes all over the mat surface

    Everything looks good Matt. Question is the slip yoke on the front driveshaft supposed to be toward the transfer case?

    • @MattKubik1791
      @MattKubik1791  2 місяці тому +1

      I think so but this was the way this one was so I left it alone. Doesn’t hurt anything. If you were really using the thing hard it would keep it out of the water but doesn’t bother me enough to pull it off and change it.

    Hey Matt, what size is the socket you are using for the nut on the transfer case? Thanks!

    • @MattKubik1791

      I think it was 1 3/16” but I don’t remember for sure off the top of my head.

    Hey Matt. I've got some fluid coming out of my knuckle seal and my lockout. Do you think my gear lube and knuckle lube are coming into contact with each other and thinning the knuckle lube out, since its coming from the lockout too? Thanks!

    • @MattKubik1791
      @MattKubik1791  2 місяці тому

      That is possible yes if your banjo seal on the differential is bad. However, I have ran into this in the past and it was due to someone filling the kuckle with gear oil. That could also be a possibility. More diagnostics would need to be done to determine what is happening.

      @@evansiebert1453 no problem, the donor highboy for my ranch truck build was this way. Lockouts were all greasy. After I cleaned them and put new seals in and filled with closed knuckle lube they are still clean a year later.

    Is the yoke splined so that it only go on one way? Sorry if that a dumb question.

      If it has the smaller 8 bolt seals then yes. Most of the older rigs to. I’m not sure what year they started the 44HD

    HOWDY, MATT.
    I LOVE YOUR CONTENT. I HAVE AN IDEA, MONEY MAKING OPPORTUNITY, FOR YOU. YOU'LL ADMIT YOU ARE A LITTLE BIT PICKY AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. I THINK IT'S WHAT MAKES YOUR TRUCKS SO DESIRABLE......SO, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU PUT TOGETHER A TRUCK FROM YOUR BONEYARD. FROM ALL THE PIECES YOU'LL NEVER USE FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. TOO RUSTY, NOT STOCK, DENTED, BENT, WHATEVER DOESN'T ADD UP TO YOUR STANDARDS. I'M HOPING IT ENDS UP LIKE A HARLEQUIN VW RABBIT. ALL SORTS OF MIXED MATCHED YEARS AND COLORS. BUMP SIDE BOX WITH A DENT SIDE FRONT CLIP SORTA UGLY. NOT A COMPLETE TRUCK. NO RADIO OR HEATER UNLESS YOU WANT TO PUT IN THE EXTRA WORK. JUST A RUNNING DRIVING, ROAD LEGAL, TRUCK.
    YOU COULD GET RID OF YOUR JUNK PARTS AND I THINK THE TRUCK WOULD BE WORTH MORE THAN YOU OR I COULD IMAGINE FOR JUNK. I ALSO THINK IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT VIDEO SERIES, THE REAL MONEY MAKER.
    JUST A THOUGHT, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND THANK YOU FOR GETTING OLD RIDES BACK ON THE ROAD.
