My limited mechanical skills wouldn't have guessed there was a mice motel in the exhaust. Great work as always bud!

Hey, between 21 minutes and 31 you cut your hair cut. 😂 Always a spring event on our farm. Don’t need the extra insulation when the cold weather is done. That aside, those mice were busy.

Hey Matt it’s always great to see these old trucks back on the road. I had a couple of 71’s and a 70 all 2 wd l had trouble finding a good right grill insert for my 71 I was fixing up the right sides always seemed be broke so I ended up using the left side grill from my other 71 if remember all but 1 screw didn’t line up and I know the fins are angled differently from side to side from a distance you could even notice it.

Thanks! That’s good to know. I’m working on the cosmetic upgrades episode now and I actually patched together the right side grill I had. So it worked out.

Nice update Matt. Good to see the truck running ! Always enjoy seeing what you’ve done on these old trucks. We just took our 68 Highboy out for the first drive since we got it buttoned up. Hopefully we’ll have the video out soon. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your next update.

Me too almost every project vehicle or daily driver vehicle I've had had true dual straight pipes and glass pack mufflers or a single straight pipe and glass pack muffler..

I've seen several 2g, and 3g Ford alternator swaps for the bumpside Ford trucks

I grew up hearing two of the most obnoxious fe bbf trucks both bumpside Ford trucks one was my dad's 70 Ford F-250 360fe 4spd with the rusty manifolds and it had several bent pushrods when we first got the truck, and ine of his good buddy's had a truck I'd have loved to own even for a short bed a dark burgundy color and a even darker red and silver pinstripe, it a 72 Ford sport custom explorer short bed 390 6.4 litre column shift 3spd with a overdrive pull handle... under the dash... anyway that was around 1994 and he gave $4300 for the truck back then and unfortunately he got it to big block swap a 79 mercury Capri 255 v8 automatic transmission, and i was kinda afraid to see what I would have to have to buy the 71 Ford truck and I wish I would have just asked i have not seen the truck since....

If you bought 1 new muffler, why not buy another and make a simple dual exhaust exiting infront of the back wheels?

I had a 2 inch straight pipe and a dynomax race magnum 3 1/2 case 2.25 inlet and outlet glass pack muffler and it was on my 86 Buick Regal Factory V8 Sport Coupe Oldsmobile roller cam 307 V8, and the 80 Chevy c20 Scottsdale with a 68 250L6 except for the 3 inch exhaust pipe and the same glass pack muffler just 2 1/2 inch inlet and outlet,, and the 3 1/2 aluminized fence pipe tubing and those were some of the best sounding exhaust systems i had and they were single exhaust pipes.. so yeah i understand that Matt kubik sir..

    • @richardbates2367

The 3 1/2 inch exhaust pipe tubing was on my 89 Chevy S10 EL regular cab short bed 2.5litre tbi 4cyl 5spd with the metal reverse gear whine... And for those who don't know the EL is the base model of Chevy S10

@@richardbates2367 And this is a 360 FE motor where a simple tucked dual exhaust system would be more efficient. Any tuning tricks on basically stock engine helps with horsepower to the wheels and gas mileage. With an autolite or a non electronic distributor there is an adjustment with an allen wrench in the vacuum advance to fine tune the timing.
