Thanks Brad. What are your thoughts on larger sticks sizes like 2b's for lighter playing? Is stick size more of a function of hand size?

I think hand size only becomes and issue when dealing with small children learning to play. Very small children might have trouble handling a heavier drumstick. But I've found the same sizes seem to work for everyone else. 2b's are a good size for most drummers, including students learning snare technique/stick control. That's similar to the Dave Weckl model I use. To me a 2b is medium weight. Those are good for most styles and dynamics. 3 exceptions I can think of. 1.Acoustic jazz combo playing - it's possible to play soft with 2b sticks but more difficult than using something lighter. 2. Very loud rock bands - extremely loud players might break them. 3. Marching band- you really need marching sticks for the right feel and sound.
