Does it support custom resolutions, or "less standard" ones like 1440p@120hz (under 18gbps)? What about EDID? And Variable Refresh Rate?
In sum is it "transparent" like a cable, transmitting all the signal that comes to it, or does it introduce some limitations?
    Thanks

how did you connect the large monitor, when you use the graphics card hdmi to the device? does that mean that it will only work if you have 2 hdmi out (or 1dp)?

My search for KVM over IP continues. Very confusing terminology referring to "KVM over x". Very few solution so far for KVM over IP that includes 4k@60HZ.
I see "Over ethernet" and think finally, but nope. Still "HDBaseT". I don't want to run separate lines just for this.

yeah, I thought the cables were gonna be connected to the router but not the are connected directly

KVM Over Ethernet is completely different from KVM over Ip. Not sure how you end up here. If your doing IP you have to rely on something like Raspberry Pi which is more complex than Windows Remote Desktop because you can turn on the PC anywhere in the world and disconnect or connect something like external HDD or other devices if its setup correctly. Which I am also planning to do in the future with my relatives who is 5000+ km away
KVM Over ethernet for using cables to do the job and its usually in range within the house. You can setup multiple PCs in one with unraid. I am planning to replace 3 PCs and 1 server with one Unraid server setup.

You said you are one floor down at the kid's room and you are playing the game from the computer above, but the ethernet cable for power, has to be stretched from above transmitter box over to the receiver box, correct? if yes, I don't know if this is truly a wireless setup? care to explain?

This is not a wireless solution, it requires a ethernet cable. Its HDMI Over ethernet.

No, this kind of extender system is exclusively point-to-point. Even though it utilises Cat5e/Cat6 cable and RJ-45 connectors, there is no Ethernet network to speak of. They make use of a standard called HDBaseT, which allows video and data signals to be transmitted down the wires of a network cable. If you tried connecting these units to a network switch or router, it simply wouldn’t work and you may well cause damage to your network gear in the process due to the fact that these kind of devices supply power down the cable using proprietary methods not comparable to Power over Ethernet. If you want this kind of functionality to work over an actual network as opposed to isolated network cables, what you need is an HDMI over IP extender kit. Such systems encode video signals to send them over an Ethernet network in the form of data packets at the transmitter, before decoding them back to a regular HDMI signal at the receiver.
A couple of advantages of HDMI over IP systems include being able to conveniently place transmitters and receivers wherever you might need them and use existing network cabling if you already happen to have a large network with many ports connected around a building, without the need to install individual dedicated network lines for purely video (as is the case with HDMI over Cat5 systems), and, in the case of some products - this capability does vary a lot though - one transmitter can connect to multiple receivers, allowing a single HDMI signal to be duplicated in many locations if so desired. The main disadvantage of HDMI over IP is that the quality of the video signal will be considerably degraded compared to HDMI over Cat5 due to the fact that the bandwidth of HDMI is actually huge and such signals need a large amount of compression to be applied in order to squeeze them within the confines of a standard 1Gbps network. Also, you might there is a noticeable level of latency due to the nature of network traffic.
This is probably far more information than you possibly could have wanted to know, but I hope my explanation provides insight to you and anyone else who poses similar questions, as these two distinct kinds of video extender systems are confused so often, understandably so due to them sharing many of the same components and terminology.
