One thing to watch out for is leakage from old batteries preventing terminal contact. Mine quit working and after making sure it was on, replacing the batteries, restarting my pc, making sure the receiver was connected and trying multiple USB ports, checking drivers, and then looking it up to find only things I already tried, I scraped the positive battery contact in the keyboard, figuring alkaline residue was interfering, and _now_ it's working. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere so if nothing else works take a close look at the contact.
Changing the Human Interface Device to "automatic" fixed my error code 43 and my Logitech K400 keyboard started to work again. Thank you! I also had low batteries which I changed.
Thanks so much for the video - unrelated, but what's the desktop effect you've got where moving the mouse causes the desktop wallpaper to have that beautiful swooshing effect please ? :)
thanks for helping me confirm it was the battery. Always the simplest element first. I thought I'd put new bats but I was wrong. I've had this Logitech keyboard for 10 years or more; it works like a charm. My 'problems' with it over the years is either batteries or having to change the wireless thingy from one usb to another. Thumbs up for Logitech. .
Starting to hate this keyboard. The OS function buttons stop working and I have to constantly turn the keyboard on and off for one use of these buttons at a time. I try to turn up the volume, doesn't work, I reset the keyboard, it works, next time I try to do it, it doesn't work again, repeat repeat. And yes it's fully charged and the software is updated. No I did not spill or drop anything on it or drop it. Also, I use Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and every time Adobe makes an update (which seems like every couple of months) it totally forgets my presets for those apps. Before they were updating the keyboard software to adjust to it, but the crown dial has not been useful for anything in Premiere Pro for months now.
There are a couple other things you can do, first get an extension usb cable and plug your receiver in it, stretch it away from your computer, reason this might work is because of interference from other devices using 2.4Gh wireless band or other usb devices plugged into the computer. Remove any usb data devices, i.e. usb disk drives. Data transferring over usb can interfere with input devices, even if you are not actively reading or writing to the disk the band width is shared between devices by the motherboard. It may be possible to isolate your receiver on a motherboard usb bus, but you will need to know where the different buses are routed for access on the front or rear of the computer.

Perfect! Thanks, I changed the Human Interface Device service to automatic and so far no keyboard issues during start up.
