@@LucyJaneWood A big lesson for me was via a blanket of a relative (a great-great-uncle or something). It was leopard print and my little sister loved it, but my grandmother was so concerned about preserving it, it stayed in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag tucked up in a closet for no one to enjoy. I decided I was going to show my love of my things through using them everyday and make using them part of my memories
I think adding the paneling on the walls by the stairs would look really cool, as I think it would really fit the style of your house! Like you said, the walls are quite high, so it breaks it up visually quite nicely :) I recently did paneling in my hallway as well and it turned out very nice! It's also way less difficult than it seems, especially if you use the right tools. Good luck with it!
From my side, it will be a very enthusiastic YES for the panelling and for the cabinet and shelves built in ! Especially if you have to stay longer than you thought in this (already lovely) house :)
Shelves to the right of the fireplace would look good for symmetry and more shelves is always a good idea! Don’t change the vinyl area though, that looks lovely.
I've been trying so hard to use the special things. It is really alot of effort to bring myself to do it. My realisation is that when I wait for the perfect time with things that expire, they've expired by the time I get to them so end up wasted 😢 embrace the fun and fancy!
Agree, panels are timeless. And you can change colors or details to freshen them up every once and awhile. For the shelves, you will loose space. It depends if you want shelves with cabinets or just bookshelves. The cabinets are going to eat up the most space.
The matching shelves would look cute to separate the vinyl area put like a couple of whatever size the over head beam separation device like couple inches out is like a barrier wall
I think adding wainscoting on the stairs would be super cute! Ariel Bissett has some wonderful house reno videos and did some DIY wainscoting for a gallery wall, she's super good at having a crack at new skills and learning on the job, highly recommend! Makes us mere mortals feel like we might have a chance at trying something new that may otherwise feel overwhelming 😅
We did panelling in our hallway (dulux overtly olive fyi - bloody lush!) And it has honestly transformed our space. We have quite a modern house and were fed up of endless reams of plain walls but didnt want artwork and photos everywhere so this was ideal. We also did it ourselves and it was super simple and we honestly are useless at diy! As for the in built cabinets i think they would be game changing for your space! I truly think that spending money in solid carpentry and things that are custom built for the space in your home is never a bad idea (especially where storage is concerned!)
I like both the house ideas, they sound like they will add character to the house which I am always happy to see. I live in a 80 y.o. house that has moulding in the dining room (same as paneling) and it's the one thing I have loved and never thought about changing in the 15+ years of living here. It's definitely timeless.
The fact that you're sponsored by Big Potato is the most fitting thing!! And yes to using our nice things every day, have been trying to embody that recently as well
Love the panelling for the stairs also the wall cabinets would be great and very useful and you could mirror the other side the continue around the corner with more cabinets shelves for the vinyls xox 🇦🇺💕🎬🤦🏻♀️
This video feels like seeing an old friend. My life has felt chaotic lately and I feel a bit like I've lost myself. Just seeing someone else living their life, maybe not the most glamorous but certainly cozy and comfortable and motivating. Thanks for sharing, is all.
Lovely blog, excited by your latest Reno plans, and I blame TikTok for panelling, I get so addicted to watching people diy panelling their walls. But I really think it is a classic look and you won’t regret it on your staircase
Yes to both ideas. The built in cupboards would probably make the lounge look bigger as it's more cohesive than having lots of "bits" filling the space
Totally in the same boat as you; realising we may be staying put for a while longer than we thought and subsequently looking to the house to see where we can give it more love! I say go for it on the panelling and arched storage! I think it would look fab based on your inspo!
I built in bookshelves with cabinets underneath on both sides of my fireplace, never regretted it. Loads of storage underneath for board games, vases and various crap.
Yes for the built in shelves! Would be excellent filled with your books and trinkets. And no idea if this idea would work due to size of the room - but could you include space for your TV in the built in shelves (maybe to right of fireplace), turn sofa to face lovely shelves and fireplace, leaving enough room behind the sofa (where current bookshelf lives) for a teeny tiny table and chairs?
Paneling will never go out of style! It is a classic. Also yessss to the cabinetry. I think a good carpenter could come up with a very cool/unique solution to the right side of the fireplace that makes it really worthwhile.
I would say with regards to pannelling dont worry about trends you style your house with things that make you happy. I am learning that now my son is at uni, i am about to gp crazy on my space and make it my own.
I love your vlogs I find them so relaxing and you are the sweetest loveliest human ever and I really want to try big potato games I always mention them when I see them to my boyfriend ❤
Watching this in stages and just got to the panelling bit. When we moved into our place I had a carpenter put in a picture rail up our stairs and in hallway. Made a difference for me because as you said, that space is vast and it helps break it up. If you like it, go for it and don’t worry about trends!
Lovely to see you Lucy ! Yes totally agree with your thoughts on the decor !! Just love it when Flo starts to hog the camera 🥰! Happy days , lovely vlog 👍💐
Love the video! 👏 just think about your seasonal decor, will you still be able to put up your Christmas tree if you put more shelving in? Love the panelling idea for the stairs. 😊
I think you should FILL that nook with shelves for your books! You'd lose precious library space with the arches....though they are beautiful! I've been pinning similar ideas and just love the cosy bookshop vibe of it! Can't wait to see what you do 🤩❤
I think paneling is quite chic and can give more character to a place! And yes, I relate very much to getting ideas and feeling like I HAVE to do it instantly. Looking forward to seeing your new ideas come to fruition!
Would love to see a 'tour' of your overhauled makeup bag? I'm trying the same and it feels very overwhelming trying to find good products from scratch again. Scraps bowl in the kitchen is something I started recently and I don't know how I lived without it before?! This is also the excuse I needed to get OK Play.
I need all of those games - family group Christmas presents sorted! Also yes to both house projects! Paneling is glorious…. Arches are glorious… go for it!
We did headboard panelling. As for the in-built: The vinyl area could be integrated. Or just have an upper cabinet there. Just make sure what stays is taken in account with the measurements. Functional as possible storage is the best. Could have adjustable shelves. Maybe even a top flip-up secret compartment.
We already have P for Pizza but will definitely check the other games out! I feel like my husband and I have similar vibes to you and Adam so would enjoy the other games! 😊
Yasss, Lucy, your videos are always so "sit down with a cup of tea" worthy. Just used your discount code since I was already looking for a small game to take on holiday soon and this is great timing. Good luck with the panelling! Please vlog the process so we can watch your progressive breakdown 😂
If you are thinking of shelving, I would add a built in or shelving where your record player is. Then, I would put the record player beside the fireplace and have a gallery wall above it for visual interest. You could even paint the gallery wall a fun color, and the back wall of your existing shelves the same color. Make it look more cohesive. I think that nook area is going to make it a bit awkward to have a matching shelving unit like you were wanting. You will lose so much usable space.
I also have KP on my arms and legs. Have you tried AmLactin? I've noticed a decent reduction in the painful spots and it moisturizes while not leave me feeling greasy.
Another vote for panelling and built in shelves! Also if you didn’t want to commit to panelling you could always do colour blocking like you had behind your headboard?
A short paneled wall (mostly not paneled, in other words) the color of your refrigerator would be lovely. Then you could find that color in a few of the art pieces you choose for the walls. Yummy!
Ahh been waiting for a Lucy vlog for so long! We've missed you! Currently in the middle of a Netflix Harry Potter marathon (I know you would approve!) But this is the first thing I'll watch after! X
I have KP all over my arms/thighs/butt and the only thing I've found that works is the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser. I use that in the shower and moisturize after. The only annoying thing is if you skip a few days it all comes back (at least mine does). I don't have the patience for it, but it's nice to do on the daily leading up to a big event or vacation!
As someone with a lot of grey/silver hairs, I prefer Silver Vixen 😊 I think panelling would look nice, and it might make your stairs look a little narrower. Maybe see if you can get someone to do an artist sketch to help give you ideas and visualise what it would look like. ❤
I am so happy sat here eating my tea, in my cosy clothes, watching your vlog whilst it’s raining. Can not wait for autumn 😂🍁🍂 Also I used to save everything for best and then ended up wasting stuff that had clearly gone off 😂🤦🏻♀️ definitely changed that in my 30’s! Xx
My friend always tell me off about wearing my good perfume everyday. I said something might happen tomorrow and cant use it! Stems from a Gucci bag being in the wardrobe incase it gets ruined 🙈 “Wear the Gucci” 😘
I think you and I are pretty much exactly the same shade and I wear the Light 3 in the Vieve and it's spot on! If you're going to try another shade I'd recommend that, it's perfect for our skin tone 🩷
Yay a vlog! I am with you on not using up nice things- I am particularly bad when people gift me lovely notebooks, it needs to be filled with something worthy which never seems to happen. That stag game sounds like it would be more fun for the groomsmen than the chicken, unless he also gets to bar hop and leaves feathers behind as clues, new version perhaps? 😆
Can't wait to know what is coming! Are we only going to find out next year or will we be getting more information before it comes out? *excited and curious*
100% agree on using our nice things and not holding onto them. We never know what life holds - so we must use and enjoy these things!
Totally! I’m trying to teach myself this 😊

All of your videos feel like spending time with an old friend with a genuine beautiful soul.
From my side, it will be a very enthusiastic YES for the panelling and for the cabinet and shelves built in ! Especially if you have to stay longer than you thought in this (already lovely) house :)
Thanks! Im gonna go for it 😊

Big yes to the panelling! It’s timeless, classic and will suit the space SO well! 😊

Ooooh I’ll take a look, thank you!

Yes to the panelling and living room cabinets 👍😂❤️
Top tip for KP, I started using niacinamide serum on the tops of my arms before my moisturiser and it has super worked. KP is so much better
My favourite and most relatable content on youtube. Love love
I like both the house ideas, they sound like they will add character to the house which I am always happy to see. very relatable Sunday vlog.
always been fascinated by your creativity to renovate or whatever adds character to your home
Love the panelling for the stairs also the wall cabinets would be great and very useful and you could mirror the other side the continue around the corner with more cabinets shelves for the vinyls xox 🇦🇺💕🎬🤦🏻♀️
That's a great idea! I’m excited now 😊
Your videos are the BEST! Like hanging out in facetime with a friend. ❤❤
Love that! Thank you 🥰
This video feels like seeing an old friend. My life has felt chaotic lately and I feel a bit like I've lost myself. Just seeing someone else living their life, maybe not the most glamorous but certainly cozy and comfortable and motivating. Thanks for sharing, is all.
10:37 wonderful choice of band/album, been one of my faves for years!
Here to say this! Love throwing back to MCS! ❤
Yes to paneling. No question. Yes to built-in on either side of fireplace. All good ideas.
I agree i think panelling is timeless 😊
Hoping so cos it’s happening 😂
Lovely blog, excited by your latest Reno plans, and I blame TikTok for panelling, I get so addicted to watching people diy panelling their walls. But I really think it is a classic look and you won’t regret it on your staircase
Just sat down with my cup of tea and there’s a new Lucy vlog? Day made 🥰
Yes to both ideas. The built in cupboards would probably make the lounge look bigger as it's more cohesive than having lots of "bits" filling the space

Omg do the paneling the same (or similar) colour as your fridge! That would be such a fun way to bring that colour to the heart of the house
I built in bookshelves with cabinets underneath on both sides of my fireplace, never regretted it. Loads of storage underneath for board games, vases and various crap.

Yay so happy to see my emotional support vlogger today, with a dose of rainbow bookshelf! More shelves, more books! Love the PJs too💜
omg everything is alright what a great song!
Yes to the paneling! That’d look so good. Especially in that color. 😍
100% yes to both projects! They’d be worth the hassle and improve home value later down the line. It’ll add so much character
big supporter of the built in shelves !!!!! oh also, paneling is timeless and beautiful, i'll alwayyyyys love it !
I absolutely hoard the niceness of new things. It must stay perfect forever - even if it’s never touched 🥴🫣
We must change!!
Please could you do a video or reel on how you did your panelling?! I need motivation to do ours 🙌🏻
I would say with regards to pannelling dont worry about trends you style your house with things that make you happy.
I am learning that now my son is at uni, i am about to gp crazy on my space and make it my own.
Ameliorate the body cream in the tub is great for keratosis pilaris
I think the panelling would look ace xxxx
Lucy, your videos always pull me out of a funk. they make me feel so cozy! really needed this vlog today 🥰
I love your vlogs I find them so relaxing and you are the sweetest loveliest human ever and I really want to try big potato games I always mention them when I see them to my boyfriend ❤

This vlog was so lovely and cozy! Reminds me of the lockdown at home vlogs
You can get your glasses reglazed (new glass) for around £35 if you like your frames
I think you should FILL that nook with shelves for your books! You'd lose precious library space with the arches....though they are beautiful! I've been pinning similar ideas and just love the cosy bookshop vibe of it! Can't wait to see what you do 🤩❤
You are my kinda gal 📚
I think paneling is quite chic and can give more character to a place! And yes, I relate very much to getting ideas and feeling like I HAVE to do it instantly. Looking forward to seeing your new ideas come to fruition!
this video was like a warm hug
Don't lose the vinyl corner.....ever!!! 😊
Please make more vlogs! You are the most wholesome, lovely, beautiful human being ❤ And it makes my day when you upload a vlog 🥰
The only thing that has ever got rid of my Keratosis pilaris is the bodyshop Hemp Body Butter. It doesnt smell great but it works wonders
Great ideas for the renovations. I think the built in storage would elevate that space. Maybe a lovely sage green?
Try Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion for K.P. - brilliant stuff 👍🏼🙂
Really enjoyed that book, interesting characters and family dynamics
Your vlogs are so soothing. It's like catching up with a friend. Thanks for gracing our screens again :)
I love this style of video! I think some shelving on the other side of the fireplace would balance out the room nicely
I need all of those games - family group Christmas presents sorted! Also yes to both house projects! Paneling is glorious…. Arches are glorious… go for it!
you are just the sweetest!

You had me at secret compartment 😎
Panelling would be great and then a gallery wall on left as you go up the stairs perhaps?
I am very tempted by a gallery!
I’m going on holiday with my partner in two weeks and have been wanting to take some games along with us. Perfect timing!
Amazing! OK Play is a must 👌🏻
I love that you carry games with you, me too! Such a geek. Really think we would be besties 🤣 thanks for the recommendations
Geek tendencies at all times
Loved this cosy Sunday vlog. Just what I needed. Please do an updated house tour now 😊
It was lovely to see summer in this vlog - it's rained all of July here in Northern Ireland!!
Really enjoyed this Lucy. Just lovely, informal. Like a catch-up with a friend. Love your style. 😊
We already have P for Pizza but will definitely check the other games out! I feel like my husband and I have similar vibes to you and Adam so would enjoy the other games! 😊

Definitely get the built in unit in your lounge ! We just had it done and 100% worth it and wish we’d done it sooner xxx
I love watching your videos, you're so relatable ❤
Paneling is 💯timeless. Live this Sunday vlog ❤
I love these daily vlogs and would love to see any renovations and refreshes around the house❤
Have you tried tropic body smooth for your kerastosis pilaris? Made a huge difference to my arms!
Even if you dont do the panelling i think a dual colour up the staircase would look lovely
Your videos are everything to me! That sounds extreme lol but they bring me so much joy. I’m going to shh now but thank you :) x
Paneling is classic - go for it!
Don’t need to tell me twice!
A short paneled wall (mostly not paneled, in other words) the color of your refrigerator would be lovely. Then you could find that color in a few of the art pieces you choose for the walls. Yummy!

so excited to see another vlog from you!! 🤩
Silver Vixen here. Stopped dying my hair during the first lockdown and I bl**dy love it. I am 60 though, so about time.
Love that!
Hi Luy i think you would also enjoy Sushi Go Party. Its a Game for at least 3 people but its so good and cute
Yay a vlog! I am with you on not using up nice things- I am particularly bad when people gift me lovely notebooks, it needs to be filled with something worthy which never seems to happen. Omg Liane Moriarty is my fave!
Love a vlog, Lucy! Thanks😊❤
Do you have any cruelty-free makeup recommendations? Anything you've tried that has been particularly good? :)
