I'd like to see a playlist dedicated to van life and stand up.. from breakfast, to traveling to shows, areas where you park, some green room clips, stage time, post show etc etc.
A week in the life, style.
@@dilbotmacguillacutty4849 awesome thank you! I love all of that and I'll incorporate that for sure moving forward
I can’t seem to find the information on the hinge for the Murphy bed. The one for strengthening up doors.
@@caroleseely9565 when I went to go add the link Amazon seem to not offer the one I got. It's a 3" heavy duty stainless steel piano hinge. If you watch my murphy bed video I explain a little more and why I did it that way. You can also use actual murphy bed hardware but it seems to pivot different than I wanted it to
How tall are you so i can get a better assessment of the vans interior roof height please and thank you, i'm a tall guy and i can never tell w/ these videos.
This is why I wanted the outside of my van to look like a travel van. I love the way he's enclosed the living space so it looks like a home but the outside still looks like a van. If a van is the only vehicle you have to be able to leave it on the street and everyone thinks it's a regular vehicle.
Thank you! That was my exact intention with both vans I've designed.
Exactly what I want to do. I like the way the solar on top is framed out and not really visible.
Thanks Jerk, just finished my build and now I gotta buy one of those solar panels.
Great build!
Haha damn sorry 🤣
Finally someone came up with a way to integrate the shower not taking up space. Yay.
@Fred Neck check out Shaiden's van, one of my personal favorites out there I think
Tiny married girl and her hubby did thisni think, theirs is awesome.. cant remember their name, think they were in south America at the time
Yeah that's the part I liked the most. + The led lighting on the ceiling 👍
Omg finally! I was thinking of different ways to fit a bed in without taking up the ground space and your Murphy bed is such a good idea!!
But it does mean less storage in the garage area I suppose
Yeah I like that as well. But I couldn't afford that kind of van that I would be able to do that in. But if I could I would totally do them shits.
Bed, shower, toilet, counter are outstanding. Perfect stealth. One of the absolute nicest van builds I've seen...and I've watched a lot of videos.
You now have a beautiful home and as you say, 2020 will be the year to focus on your other talents. I love the Murphy bed folding down from the back yet you still have a garage. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! ... I’ve watch a shit-ton of van build videos, and van-life shows, and i’ve about seen it all, but THIS van is my “DREAM” van. Absolutely love love love!!!! !!!! (Maybe cuz am a city dweller, lol) I just LOVE this Van! Great design, love the esthetic, love EVERYTHING about it! Is a special van build. Hope this guy doesnt stop doing his stand-up , or follows what it is that brings him joy
Good thing about van life is that you can “ball out” cause you it’s your house and car all in one. No additional payments.
The chemistry between these two.... :) Love it! They would make a cute couple.
Love how, simple stream lined everything is. Also, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the shower idea.
Your van tour was definitely worth the wait, and to be honest, it wasn’t for that long considering all of the work that has been done. I would have to say, beautiful craftsmanship on your part, and well thought out. You’ve collected an amazing team to help you throughout as well.
Alexa, if you’re reading this, I’m sure I can say, you cracked us up girlfriend! You not only had us laughing, you were asking some pretty great questions too. Well done! And keeping him on his toes? You sure did. Too funny. And girlfriend or not, the two of you are great together, a lifetime friendship for sure, which I think is awesome.
Stay smiling 😊
100% agree!
All that extra counter top for those really long peanutbutter sandwiches.
Yeah, he never showed us where he stores his food stuff or clothing or anything. Too busy flirting with Alexa I think.
He makes them by cutting baguettes longways. :^)
@@jmk1962 Agree and that’s important stuff.
i have ever seen JAROD so blushed all the time while he was filming...it was bkz he was so EXCITED to show his own lovely new home van that he was "without" words...
I loved that you said Alexa so many times, just thinking about everyone with Alexa assistants getting triggered 😂🤣
Mine didn't.

With this being Jarred’s 2nd build, he knows exactly what he wants and know how to execute it with little error. I’m in the position of building my first van. I find myself learning trial and error. Hard to not cry over spilled milk where I can have saved some money. However, I know I’ll have a 2nd build when the time is right. Nice van Jarred. 🥰
Hands down, THE BEST van build I have yet to see. Gotta love the ceiling and modular build! Very inspiring! Happy New Years 2020!
On the subject of rooftop walkable solar. The cells themselves are more fragile than the glass, so you can be damaging your output while walking on it without seeing the damage. There are clever diode arrangements being used now to protect output so you might not see a dramatic drop until the damage crosses a certain threshold, but it's something to pay attention to.
I never make contact with the cells themselves. The cells are sandwiched between two very thick pieces of glass. They are commercial grade and are designed to handle 80mph hail. They are rated for 25 years and were also not designed to go on vans. They are meant to be on large fields. But what people don't understand is if you use a commercial grade panel like this then you need certain other components to make sure your systems runs correctly. This is why I hired Tiny Watts Solar to do that for me.
Alexa: Your toas stay warm because of your floor But your fingers also stay warm when you do... The...
Jarrod: the dishes ...ya
23:28 His face 😂😂 He's like your giving too much away!
Its useless to hide it guys, the chemistry is too strong hahahaha
I love how she has your back and encourages you in your comedy. Y'all just too cute lollll 💕
Dipsy much
For someone who is older and not physically able to do the sort of adventure that requires gear, this is a good use of space. The interior is nearly wide open and there's a lot of storage for crafts and the like--enough room in the back for a camp stove, table, camp chairs, hiking boots, etc. With some side windows toward the back in the seating area, it would be perfect. It's near perfect for me now, though perfect for you.
This is great Jarrod! Love your authenticity. Happy to see someone who can mesh the dream van with the dream career! Alexa did a good job too!
I've seen so many tours(like 50+) of tiny homes, all sizes, and this is probably my favorite so far. I really, really like your nightstand, water fill spot, shower, and recirculating shower idea. The only other thing I would want on this would be a backup generator and more water (I'm under the impression you can never have enough water with you even though I've never lived the van life)
Thank you! I'm with you with the water. I was be cautious of weight with water weighing at 8 pounds per gallon it can get heavy quick. With the amount of power and solar panel size there's no need for a generator but understandable for someone that wants/needs more. Thanks again
Oh wow great idea about the fridge! Really like the layout! Let’s hope our van build turns out so awesome!!!
I believe your LEDs shouldn't flicker. You most likely have an incompatible dimmer switch for those lights. You might be able to swap out that switch to fix the flickering.
It is most probably down to the refresh rate of the video camera, it is likely the human eye does not see it flicker when they dim.
I'm no videographer, but I believe it can be corrected using different shutter speeds or it might be possible in post through editing techniques.
@@orificium post I can fix a little but not totally. I could play with camera setting. Thanks!
It's all camera. Can't see the flicker in person.
Yeah, I think if you change the camera's frame rate that can sometimes help. But the fact that it's flickering at all is what I'm talking about. Traditional dimmers are made to work with bulbs that have filaments, and LEDs don't have that. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that LEDs shouldn't flicker, even if it's only visible when filming. If the bulb is flickering at all, then it's most likely because of an incompatible dimmer switch, or LEDs that aren't dimmable to begin with, and that can sometimes shorten the life of your LEDs. That's my understanding at least. As someone that gets migraines, I'd also want to get a combo set up that doesn't involve flickering because even if you don't consciously notice flickering in person, it can still affect you. (Love the van setup btw, thanks for making these videos!)
This is one of the best layouts I have seen...Such a great use of space. I would make the back bench a little deeper so that if was a bit more inviting to curl up and lounge. It would also give you a bit more garage space. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
The Murphy bed and shower is sick AF
hey Jarrod, this is one of the best builds I've seen yet. I really like the murphy bed and the hidden shower. 2 questions and a request. :)
1) Would is be possible to make some adjustments for a wider bed (closer to a queen size)?
2) You mentioned attaching the toilet to the door. Wouldn't it have to be way higher to clear the wall of the floor pan?
Request: When you're 100% done with the build, if you could could make a playlist of short 3 to 5 min videos for each of the main features (bed, shower) explaining how you made it, parts list, etc?
That would be amazing. Again, great job on the build!
Thank you! I do have a build series of this van on my page to explains a lot about certain parts.
You could design it to make the bed bigger. Just have to sacrifice something. If it was wider then the long countertop would have to go because a queen spans most of the back doors. You could try a side murphy bed but that is tough in a Sprinter as the curve is drastic. I now have a design in my head for a bigger bed 🤣 thanks for doing that and making me want to build another lol...I'm kidding I won't build another.
The toilet will clear the pan. I just need to build it correctly but not worried too much about it
Love the Murphy bed, great space saving idea
I wasn't gonna subscribe but Alexa made this so much fun to watch.
You both have a unique chemistry that is just so awesome to watch.
Thank you! I just texted her to let her know. She's great and I wanted to do this tour with her for a while and glad she was game for it
That hidden bathroom/shower is dope AF!
Jarrod, what haaped to your camera guy? hmm? btw, your van is pretty cool too. Thanks for the tour.
Maybe you can integrate a ladder where your tool storage is. You could bore holes in the wood and slide in poles for the rungs as needed.
Definitely crossed my mind doing a ladder like that. Maybe in the near future. Thanks!
Well I know they make an aluminum collapsing later that would fit on Amazon
Hey jarrod , thanks for the tour of your van .. I really love it .. I just bought my van and I’m workin on my layout right now ... there is 4 things I would like to pick you brain about :heat floors , Recirculating shower, your windows and cCeiling... thank you so much ...

That is such an awesome space Jarrod. Such a high tech customised van you have designed - it helps to have the skills and knowledge that you have. The recirculating shower you're gonna use, will be the mantis shower to have. I'm wanting to purchase one for my home. A bit pricey for a shower but well worth having. Can't wait to see more of you in your van and showing a day in the life of living in your van. Awesome Jarrod - thanks for sharing. Good job Alexis.
Super nice van. High end. Premium. Great layout and features. I love the massive countertop real estate and the cloakingshower. Engage. St. John's in the background. Drive there every day to work. What will you do comedy in PDX? I will have to check it out.
Thank you! Leaving PDX shortly but will be back in a couple months to preform. Will keep everyone posted for sure. Also love this area and city!
Nothing is less stealth than a windowless van It just makes people wonder what’s going on inside The Murphy bed is the best I’ve seen
Alexa did a great job, you two have a great rapport! ;~) Beautiful job on the van Jarrod! Once the shower in it will be perfect 10/10 for the build!

Stealth is not just about the van, it's an attitude you maintain while living in a stealth van. It's a stealth lifestyle. The purpose of which is to avoid the dreaded "knock" 👍🏻😉
You are the first person to implement the convertible bathroom!!! Love it!
It's a smart way to have a shower inside the van, but actually he is not the first to do this, there is Wando Tales' for example ;)
Incredible conversion, Jarrod!! Keep up the great content
It took 6 minutes to get to see something...then we had to see frig for 2 minutes, followed by a drawer for another minute....then we went to the back door, super interesting...let's see how you used this...aha! great murphy bed layout...looked great...loved the quickness of setup...loved the ceiling...lots of light with enough interest to look great. A shelf is a shelf and this one is large enough to be useful...high enough to keep out of the way of the bed...super...but that little one? That's a killer...I would never have anything at 'temple height' with square corners sticking out like that...your layout, the garage storage, the murphy bed...all great, but I have learned to fast forward after turning off the mic...
Jarrod.
Idea
It looked "sketchy climbing onto the roof.
Beef up the shelves on the passenger side to use as steps!
Actually I think this is a great idea! Those generic black metal ladders are a big give away that someone is living there IMO.
I am seriously considering living this easy for my little dog and myself. I see liberation and freedom.
That bed's fantastic !! Perfect set up.
Your van looks great I love yous craftsmanship; the colors, the stunning roof, and bed! Awesome build Jarrod, the blue blue trim and power supply is impressive. Thx Tommy NJ
can you share the new vans, drive, power train, and what will you do next? Led light bars or a wrench? Did you have to install any back up cameras, or suspension up grade? i just haven't seen much of that new van like mileage, fuel, and is your gray water tank insulated? I would love to see a long term review if you still have this van. thx t
Sigh! I live in Italy and I want/desire a van! Problem here is that Italians in general think that if you live in a van or mobile home... you are a gypsy. Gypsies here are not thought of nicely.... but since when have I ever been with “the norm”? I just want to thank you for showing your van built... I hope that I can get mine. Peace!
Don't live your life based on others perceptions. You'll never be happy
I think that is the perception here in the USA also, but as more people move to that lifestyle it is becoming less judged in a bad way !!!
I say go for it, live your life to your best ability and just be good to others !!
Wishing you well, blessings
Wow, Jarrod! Super van build. Maybe I have found my van builder. I still think a side Murphy would be best for me. Love the ceiling, need a true wet bath. I would not be able to do any of the build myself due to physical limitations. Great power and all season capabilities. Thanks so much
I love radiant flow heating

Strange, because I watched this with an Echo dot like 2 feet away and it didn't get triggered. Very curious...
@@Rafter242 I have an echo Dot as well. if you changed the trigger name to Echo rather than Alexa then it wont go off. this also works if you trained it to only respond to your voice.
Great job Alexa on the tour. Love how she gives you a hard time.
Please add the solar panel link as well, perhaps the updated version, whatever you have available. I love all your videos, so much to learn.
I’m looking to build a conversion for my mobile grooming salon and am in need of crazy power, looking to do it with solar and diesel, looking to not need any other power source.
Thank You!!!
Super cool and inspiring tour/ interview! Jarrod is a man of many talents - looking forward to seeing more! Alexa did a phenomenal job - she’s a natural! 😌
What an elegant design--so tidy/ship-like yet comfortable. Respect, Jarrod. I wish you luck on your enterprises. (Don't forget the Seattle comedy club!)
I had one of these for work, trust me when I say you definitely don't wanna climb on those back doors, just my extension cords caused the latches to miss and ultimately stop staying latched proper even after factory adjustment:/
Amazing van! Engineers make the best vans! All the details are amazing.
Jarrod, you probably remember me from my comments in the past. I just want to say, you're an amazing guy. I've watched all your videos, and of all the travellers I follow on UA-cam, I have always been the most inspired, educated, and entertained by you. I follow your content more closely than Bob Wells, and I have met him, personally. He inspired me, as a former van lifer, and you make art of the concepts he teaches. As I mentioned, about a year ago, I am planning to return to living tiny, when I retire, and watching both your van builds have truly helped me think outside the box to better refine my plans. I hope you keep designing, in addition to your comedy career. I bet you could invent some great designs for tiny houses, perhaps even publish a book on it. You've definitely hooked me as a fan. You need to post more comedy, too.
When I was living my van life I was a promoter and independent manager for comedians and rock bands. You've got a winning formula, here. You're videos are great, balancing good camera work, real improvisational presentation that's intelligent, witty, and inoffensive, and enough personal character to come off genuine and relatable.
You do come off as a great guy with whom to kick back and have a beer.
I think that Alexa should just keep following you, too. She's adorable, and the chemistry you two have on camera is as appealing. You could definitely do more collaboration with her, and improve both your audience bases. You're looking pretty good, too, Bud. The weight loss is definitely showing, and you have definitely improved on your grooming habits in the past couple years. You're getting pretty classy, Jarrod. It suits you.
I hope my long-winded comment has brightened your day. Your videos always brighten mine, and more importantly, they earned you at least one fan.
Truly, thank you so much! Please keep me posted on when you retire and plan to get back into the van lifestyle. I do remember you a little bit and it means a lot to me that you keep watching and all the wonderful things you said. Thanks again!

Btw ... your weight loss is noticeable ... so well done. I'm not a regular viewer. I saw a vlog of yours maybe a year? ago and then again today and it is evident how much less you seem to weigh.
In general though, I find your style too effusive if you want to do stand-up. You work too hard to be awesome and 'present' and gnarly (dated what) but come off way too earnest ... and sycophantic ... touches of the Carnegiesque, as if you are trying too hard to be liked, to elicit subs and garner influencer status ... verging on inauthentic.
Such is the hollow beast of social media though and I think it is entrenched in your American culture to be oblivious to subtlety, irony and witty understatement. You bludgeon the world with big, bold, monosyllabic crayons.

Finally seen your own Van tour ... Its awesome!!!
very nice build , but for me personally it would be too much like sitting in an ambulance , I prefer a more homely interior
I think it's quite yacht like, so it feels classy to me. But if you added some decor/small items, it would be homier. (Ex. handmade quilt, a plant or a pot of herbs, etc.)
One word for van life is possibly. Blooms with each new day.
I would watch her UA-cam channel, she is very entertaining!
In the beginning I was unsure about the murphy bed idea......like the idea of rear windows......but after watching this video and seeing how effortlessly the whole system works I REALLY like it! Gorgeous build!

Epic and Dani, Alexa did an awesome job on video tour. I love the new GHOST Van very well thought out design. Jarrod you mentioned that one of your lessons learned was layered insulation to keep the climate in the Van even. Is there a video that shows this insulation install? I will be in hot climates.
I love this build, it is very aesthetically pleasing and functional. I don't know if you answered this in other videos, but how much did this build cost? And how much did it cost with the build and the van?
I haven't gone over exact numbers yet the build I'm estimating around $40-45k and the van itself was $45k. That doesn't include labor

Loved this. Alexa is very good! I also loved that your water supply is in the back! I'm curious, what was the price tag on that solar panel, the floor heating, and the recirculating shower? I'm in the process of designing and budgeting my build out at the moment and trying to figure out what features I will be able to afford. Thanks.

Congratulations and well done on your beautiful design and construction :) The various van tours you‘be conducted have been so helpful to me in designing my own layout and making technical decisions, so it’s very cool to see what you’ve learned and implemented too.
A small constructive criticism - I think the fluorescent lighting is a bit harsh, and something warmer will not only create a more pleasant ambiance, but may feel better to physically spend time in! Among other health effects, fluorescent light exposure suppresses melatonin, which affects your sleep quality. Perhaps something to consider, if I may 😊

I’m obsessed with your second van Jarrod. You truly outdid yourself
Thank you 😊
Okay, we know Alexa was the “friend” who stayed with you last night. It is cool no need to be coy.

Nice job on the build.
Definitely the nicest van down by the river!
This life is calling me!
I love the clean and stylish look. I don't think I could ever be that spare in my design, but I so admire it! I'm digging your beautiful counter tops and love the shower/toilet area. Thanks for the tour!
Hey, you cooked so much so all that's left is the peanut butter
Eric's Vegan Van I know right! And she is suppose to be a “motivational” speaker.. 🤔 Perfect reply Eric
i love this video already and i am only a minute and 5 seconds into the video .. the vibe alexa gave off was electric and awesome we need more women like her !
Great van but Alexa is way to annoying
X2
You right ... sometimes she can be. I guess it's what happens when I get a little excited my bad.
I might of just had an interesting idea. It would be neat to see a van that didn't use the side door for getting in or out at all, as it would give you more space to work with inside. The door would still be possible to slide open, but it would be to gain access to your utility stuff, like water tanks, batteries, etc.
You can basically have a counter top and maybe overhead storage and a bit of insulated wall blocking the way on the inside on the upper half while the area under the counter would be open to the sliding door for housing the utilities that need convenient accessing from time to time from the outside.
BTW, what sort of clearance do you have in that van? Seems surprisingly tall and I'm always trying to keep an eye out for models that I'd actually be able to stand in, which may be asking a bit much since I'm ~6'2".
Every time he said alexa my echo dot kept alerting.
Man, she is on your ass about the fridge contents! Nice van, Jarrod.
