    I've carried 19 and 23 which are perfect for my hands but the Glock 30 Gen 4 is just a legendary 45 ACP therefore it's my CCW a lot . The 45 ACP Glocks have 8 polygonal grooves as opposed to other Glocks that have 6 grooves hench the inherent accuracy of the 30. I need a few 9 round magazines though.

    I love the Glock 30SF. I have heard great things about the 30S as well. I edc the Glock 30SF and it is great shooting pistol and easy to conceal.
    Great review!

      Watch out for both Harald Hardrada and William the Bastard, ole man!
      I agree. I put some bright green Ameriglos on it. Accurate and reliable pistol, compact and lots of 45 cal power. What rounds are you relying on for carry?

    • @HaroldGodwinson24
      @HaroldGodwinson24 10 місяців тому

      Ha! I have formed an Anglo-Saxon/Norse alliance with Hardrada to soundly defeat The Bastard from Normandy.
      Currently the ammo I use is Hornady Critical Defense 185 grain. I also have Speer Gold Dot 200 grain. You’re absolutely correct. Every time I have fired this pistol at my local gun range it’s been accurate and reliable.

    Upwards of a 1000 rounds thru mine. No issues. All I done was change the trigger shoe to a G21 smooth face shoe. Done! Straight shooter. If you can carry a G19, you can certainly carry a G30s. Good review JD.

    My favorite Glock is the G40 MOS. I carry it on duty occasionally, and a lot of the time when I'm hunting. My current duty/EDC pistol is the FN 510 Tactical nowadays. I have a plethora of Glocks. They all work and have a purpose, but I'm drawn to other manufacturers for daily carry. Lastly, my favorite compact .45 is my BBR 310. It's 10+1 in a flush fit mag, I have some of the Tac .45 14 and 22 round mags for it, it has factory ports, and a decent duty style trigger. Shoots almost as soft as my S&W CSX.

      I have both as well. Honestly, I like the G36 much better than the G30. Yes, it has reduced capacity, but I shoot it so much better. I've carried my G36 and I've carried my G29 (the 10mm version of this pistol), but it has never occurred to me to carry the G30... kind of a bit too chonky compared to either the G36 or the G29.

    • @grahamohea2424
      @grahamohea2424 11 місяців тому

      @@JustDefense Glock made the 30 in three different flavors: the original G30, the G30S, and the G30SF.
      The G30S was basically a standard G30 but using the G36 side, which was narrower than the standard G30 slide, but was totally compatible with the G30 frame. The S in this case stands for "slim". The G30SF was Glock reworking the frame size to be shorter front to back to fit more people's hands, the SF in this case standing for "small frame". The G30SF basically superseded the G30S in Gen 3 and all of the Gen 4 models are based on the SF design, using back straps to fill in the length for those with larger hands

    I definitely heard about it because I carried the Glock 30 at work for 2yrs before I retired. It was the Glock I shot the best out of all of them I carried, from the 22, 21, 19, 26, and 27. Instead of using the 10rd magazines, I always carried the 30 with the 13rd Glock 21 magazines and an X-Grip sleeve on them.
    It now has been milled for a 509t optic and is even better, but I haven’t been carrying it since moving to warm ass Florida.

      @@JustDefense Yes. I didn’t see it in the display case and almost walked out when another customer was asking about 27s and that’s what I was looking for as well. The owner pulls the 30s out of her desk to let him see it and he left with my friend and I in total shock. She said, “oh you were wanting a leo trade weren’t you?” I have no idea where it came from but it has a loving home now. I understand these are getting quite rare.

    I like my 9mm and at times think about a 40 for EDC, but have not yet decided to or not since the G32 keeps shadowing over it in my opinion. The 45 ACP, seems a little bit too much for me and my needs. I do appreciate it, I just don’t think it’s my flavor. For now my G19 Gen 5, 19X, 43X MOS, and 42 is my rotation during certain times of the year. I still have another 5 more models acting as “Safe Queens”. Dang you Mr. Glock!!

    I used to carry Glock all the time with everyone saying it’s the most reliable and I’ve always believed it. After having more and more malfunctions over the years and brushing them off making excuses, I’ve looked into videos of people having the same issues and they do. A lot of them do. Glock is not the most reliable pistol platform!

      @@JustDefense dick uses a sample size of about 246 police related shootings, the video i linked includes data from over 1700 cases. While i appreciate a good anecdote, and one from a LEO holds more weight than one from a fudd, i still trust real world data more. That said, if you live in bear country i wouldn’t carry anything smaller than a .40 based also on statistics.

    If your gonna carry 45 now just carry 10 mm

  • @mikem.2078
    @mikem.2078 8 місяців тому

    Why would you go with this over say the G20 in 10 mm (or the 29)? I just think that in a worse case scenario, of which I cannot describe or this website will delete my post, I think the 10 mm would outperform the 45.

    • @JustDefense
      @JustDefense  8 місяців тому

      Some might argue 10mm overperforms, if that’s a word. Great for four legged critters. But if that’s what you’ve got and that’s what you prefer for edc, and you’ll always carry, FWIW I think that’s great. Personally I prefer .45 or .40 but can’t and won’t argue against ‘best millimeter,’ except to say that training and practice might become prohibitively expensive, but really, .40 and .45 ain’t cheap either. I tend to practice more with lighter calibers like 9, then 2d is 40, then 45. So whatever. Just practice and carry on! Thanks for the visit and the comment. YT has crushed my channel so that I’m getting 1% now of my original traffic, and that occurred overnight last summer.
