Quin pink is really good for botanicals. It makes some lovely peach colours mixed with nickel titinate and is a decent replacement to for opera rose.

This episode might have run two years ago, but wow, it still holds true today. I’m so glad I found you Dr. Kano! This is such an eye opening demonstration, thank you.

Quin rose is still the ONLY Daniel Smith colour I own, and every time i use it, I think of you. Honestly, most of what I know about my pigments is all thanks to you! Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher. I don't think I would paint the same if I never found your videos!

Actually Pthalo Green with a Quin Rose gets you a purple! It's gorgeous ... and thank you so much for this. Quin Rose is a classic for a reason. It's just a gorgeous and such a good mixer.

PR122, PV42 and PV19 are so similar! PV19 may sometimes lean a tiny tiny bit towards blue a bit more, but differs a lot, even within the same brands. PV42 is, in my opinion, the most magenta-like one when using a CMY-palette. As you say, the lesser tinting strength of PV42 makes it easier to use for controlled mixing. Schmincke labels its PV42 as magenta.

It looks like Quin Pink would be a nice, lightfast alternative to Opera Pink. It mimiks Opera's fluorescent quality pretty well.

I really love quin pink, for some reason (even if it's incredibly similar to quin rose). I like the mixes it made and it's a great primary magenta color! And it gauzes ♥

I don't really like pinks and reds so much... but I LOVE Quin. Rose. So much. I also love how it mixes with Indanthrone! A nice purple that doesn't granulate! I'm used to mixing Quin. Rose with Ultramarine and I didn't even think about Indanthrone! You did such a great job on this series! All the love to you Oto!

I really appreciate your shows. I do learn so much. There are a lot of things I wouldn't even think to consider and many things I am pleasantly surprised in learning since I am new to watercolor. Love your shows!

Excellent comparison. I see that Daniel Smith makes at least 7 Quin hues that are possibly similar: coral, fuchsia, lilac, magenta, pink, red, and rose. Wow! It seems a bit overwhelming, but I suppose there are artists that would claim each of these as their favorite hue.

Personally quina pink is my favourite of the three. It's great when playing with a CMYK palette!

Thank you so much or doing this exercise! I follow an artist who uses Quin Pink. I have Quin Rose in my palette (which I also LOVE) and also I use the Schmincke Purple Magenta pr122 so I was curious on how that compared to the DS magenta. I haven't wanted to buy the pink because it seemed so similar, and only sampled it from the DS dot card. I LOVE the way you sample the colors so thoroughly. Great season. Thank you again. I use my Quin Rose in florals & mostly alone or mixed with various blues - ultramarine. I love to use it next to Undersea Green, or Sleeping Beauty Turquoise!

This was so fascinating. I like the depth of colors with the rose best but loved the gauzing with the pink. You are right, both are necessary. Thank you.

You are such an angel for making these videos!!! I can not explain how much these videos have helped me in making such important (expensive) decisions on which paint to invest in!!!! You are so deeply appreciated!

Ohhhh, I think this is my favorite set of this series!!! I usually am pretty torn between Quin Rose and Quin Red. I usually end up with both of them. :]

To me, Quin. Red, Quin. Pink & Quin. Rose are more similar. If you were to remake this mashup, I certainly wouldn’t turn away!

I've used DS Quin Rose for a long while, but not a fan of it because it fades after it's fully dry and then looks a bit dull, especially for a quin. Looking forward to trying quin pink instead, it looks like a gorgeous and truer pink.
