    ♠🍀♥ Where is Part 2 ? I have just received my first two chassis according to my specifications and will soon be recording the conversion or rebuilding of a Lemmy amplifier as a video. My three replicas still run perfectly and I only had to optimize a few speakers because two 12" guitar speakers developed cracks in the membrane. This can be avoided if you use speakers with membranes that are suitable for bass. You can also treat the membranes with a mixture of water and wood glue (speaker doping). A video on the subject of speakers and cabs is also planned.I'll do part two as soon as I have the time. I can't do that in a hurry, just be a little patient because I want everything to be well tested and perfected. Use the time to learn the songs, you'll have a lot of fun with the amplifier. Thanx for more than 100000 views, over 700 subscriptions, thousands of likes and all the friendly and encouraging comments on my Channel. I will continue to improve my "Lemmy Bass" skills and I will keep you updated, so if you are interested in Lemmy, his bass style, his amplifiers and his sound, I invite you to subscribe to my channel. Stay Clean and don't forget to Rock'n'Roll :)

    Also wenn der 1992 LEM tatsächlich so dünn klingt wie hier im Video kann ich froh sein, mir keinen gekauft zu haben. Ich glaube, ich hätte im Strahl gekotzt. Da klingt mein OKKO Motörbass über einen Hughes und Kettner Bassbase 600 um Welten besser. Und das ist nicht mal ein Marshall. Aber der Murder One im Hintergrund, der klingt echt geil!

    • @LemmyBass
      @LemmyBass  2 роки тому

      Du kannst den "1992 Lem" mit einem ganz kleinen Eingriff zum Lemmy "Murder One" umbauen, aber das muss man ja erst mal wissen. Ich habe mich immer gewundert warum Lemmy auf den Werbefotos von dem Amp so unzufrieden wirkt, jetzt weiss ich warum. Man muss eigentlich nur zwei Widerstände rausnehmen und darf dann die die Lautstärke nicht viel weiter wie 2 Uhr aufdrehen, sonst fangen die Endstufenröhren (V4 und V5) an zu glühen.

      Meine Referenz für den Sound war ausser meiner eigenen Erinnerung an das Konzert in Saarbrücken immer dieses Video, da es einfach nur der Kameraton ohne viel Nachbearbeitung ist:

      Vor kurzen wurde auch noch dieses Video veröffentlicht, da bekommt Lemmy seinen ersten Replika Amp von Marshall, allerdings sei auch hier angemerkt, dass die drei ersten Replikas die Lemmy bekommen hat nicht genau so klingen wie die Replika Amps die verkauft wurden:

      Lemmy's idea with the Marshall and Rickenbacker replicas was that !!! erverybody !!! can play with his gear and sound. Marshall and Rickenbacker, they both made a few amps and basses for some rich collectors, that was not what Lemmy wanted. So let's do it : )

      Hello Henrik, a lot of things have been changed and it can't be said in two sentences. I wouldn't just make individual modifications, it's all about the real Lemmy sound and the amplifier is in good balance with all the changes overall, like with a racing machine everything has to fit together. You can also produce a roughly similar sound with other bass amps and distortion pedals and there are already some videos on UA-cam. My mission was to make the original Lemmy sound accessible to everyone, that was also Lemmy's wish when he handed his "Murder One" amplifier to Jim Marshall to build a Lemmy signature amp, but unfortunately it wasn't implemented as consistently as one would have liked. I had to work on the amplifiers for 6 years to find the result and it was worth it. Have a little patience until I've made the next video about the amps and then I will explain the details. Best regards and stay tuned.

      @@henkesson123 That's a good plan my friend, let me know as soon as you have it. I will make the video, but after so many years of work, not in a hurry but hopefully well. You should also try to use a pickup with a lot of gain, that really makes a difference, I have the Rickenbacker HB1 Humbucker, it's also in Lemmy's bass and I also only use the bridge pickup, all the controls turned up. On the amp you should use the top input of the first channel and turn up the mids wide, the highs to zero and just some bass, depending on the speakers you use. The volume with high gain pickup is around 2 o' clock and that's loud as hell, I've installed an additional master volume control behind the third preamp tube, because you must crank up the volume to get the distortion. The first 19 songs of this playlist are recorded with the original super bass from '77 and just a small cab with one 15"/100w speaker, using an attenuator (TAD Silencer) instead of the master volume.

      I will make a video with more detailed information, but it will take some time. It's not easy to explain in two sentences what has been changed and what you need to pay attention to. I always play my three amps very loudly and they have been working reliably and well for several years. Do you already have an amplifier as a base and if so, which one?

      @@LemmyBass I currently just have a 50 watt combo amp (Orange). I'm just trying to plan ahead. Looking at Marshall 4x12's. Not sure of any differences of the Super Bass amps. Are there certain years that work best?

    • @LemmyBass
      @LemmyBass  7 місяців тому +1

      @@BlackenedBrew The Super Bass and the Super Lead only differ slightly and "Muder One" is more of a mixture of the two. Any Marshall JMP from the 70's and the 1959SLP reissues are good and the JCM800 up to the early 80's is good too. With the JCM900 and JCM2000 you can only use the housing, the transformers and the tubes. I just got my first chassis from my own production and hope to be able to offer a kit for the Lemmy amplifiers at some point soon. With the 4x12 cab you should keep in mind that Lemmy's 4x12 has different speakers. I play with 2x12 (150 watts/16 ohms each) and 2x15 (250 watts/16 ohms each). Lemmy used 4x12 cabs (100watt/8ohm per speaker) and 4x15 cabs (200watt/8ohm per speaker). This is important to be sure that the speaker membranes can withstand this in the long term. Overall, the speakers per amplifier should have 4 ohms and the 12s should also be suitable for the frequency range of bass and keyboard. I now know that Lemmy's system as a whole was very precisely tuned to function reliably and that's why I'll go into all the details that are important.

    hello :) what speakers did LEMMY use?

    • @LemmyBass
      @LemmyBass  9 місяців тому +1

      In later years Marshall's Lemmy stacks were available for purchase and he also played them himself. The Marshall 1979L 4x15 has 800 watts and 8 ohms (Emminence loudspeakers made especially for this cab). The Marshall MF280L has 400 watts and 8 ohms, it probably corresponds to the later MF400B cab (Celestion G12K100 speaker). The MF models are a few centimeters higher than the 1960 cabs. I use the Marshall 1552 2x15 cabs (Celestion Sidewinder with 250watts each) and I have separated the Marshall 1960B 4x12 speakers and only use the top two speakers for the bass, the lower ones for the vocals (Eminence Swamp Thang and Celestion Sidewinder 12 with each 150watts) everything together should always have 4 ohms, because the amp sounds different with 4 ohms than with 8 ohms. The 12" Celestion Sidewinder has a version specifically for bass and keyboard with a more stable membrane. On the guitar version of this speaker, I currently always treat the membranes with diluted wood glue and I might even make a video. With fewer speakers, each speaker is obvious more stressed and that's why the 12" speakers have to be stable and able to handle the low frequencies of the bass.

    which speaker are in the 4x12 from lemmy

    • @LemmyBass
      @LemmyBass  27 днів тому

      The Lemmy Signature Cab is called Marshall MF280L. The L stands for Lemmy but it's more like the MF400, which has 400W and not 280W. The cabinet ist slightly higher than the normal Marshall JCM1960 cabs. The speakers in the MF400 are 12" Celestion K100 with 100W and 8Ohm each, but I can't guarantee whether the Lemmy box is also the Celestion K100, but they should work. I only have two speakers per cab and the other openings are closed, I use one Celestion Sidewinder 150W/16Ohm (I reinforced the membrane) and one Eminence SwampThang 150W/16Ohm per cab. The Lemmy Signature Bass Cab is called Marshall 1979L and has four 15" Eminence speakers with 200W/8Ohm each. My bass cabs (Marshall 1552) are deeper than the JCM1960 cabs and are each equipped with two 15" Celestion Sidewinder 250W/16Ohm. All speakers are wired in parallel, so I get a total of 4Ohm impedance and I can set the amplifier to 4Ohm, that's good for a fatter sound.

      Schwer zu sagen was er früher genau verwendet hat, da er ja schon immer alles so modifiziert hat wie er es am besten fand. Wenn Du in der Google Bildersuche zum Beispiel mal nach Lemmy Stack Hawkwind suchst findest Du schon immer sehr eigene Kombinationen von Boxen. Bei den frühen Motörhead Konzerten spielt er meist oversized 4x12 Boxen, ich denke Mesa oder Park oder sowas. Die alten Celestion 12" Speaker gab es auch schon seit Ende sechziger als Lead (75Hz) und Bass (55Hz) Version mit verschiedenen Membranen. Die 4x15 hatte er wohl schon 1975 in der Sammlung www.zvab.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31776628383&ref_=pd_hw_i_1#&gid=1&pid=1 und 1980 sind schon die fetteren 12" Speaker mit grossen Staubkappen dabei ua-cam.com/video/2XFtPW6lG-A/v-deo.html
