- This is a rare video directed by Micky Dolenz for his solo single Lovelight. The video also features his wife, Trina. This comes from the collection of Mr.X.
please feel free to like us at monkeesbootlegs
Honestly one of the most CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED SINGERS of all time.
Totally agree - he easily had one of the best pop/rock voices of all time. Unfortunately, you can't really tell in this mediocre recording/arrangement.
Agreed! Even the critics have to admit he is one of the great, enduring singers of popular music. If he had developed a “cool guy” persona instead of being his kind and funny self he would get a lot more recognition as the sublime vocalist he truly is.
Great to see Micky being able to play harmonica and he plays guitar. So sad that the group minus Micky has passed on recently. God bless Micky, I hope he gets to be 100+ years old!!!
So do I with love and good health encircling him always.
Gonna confuse people. Mike passed. Micky is still alive.
I used to watch The Circus Guy. Micky was Kork. God bless you Mick.
This looks like the kind of video Mike would produce.
During that same time period, his Infinite Rider On The Big Dogma LP.
Good country harp
OMG! WHY WAS THIS NOT Played On the radio!?!? His voice is one of the most incredible ones of the time
Never heard this song before. Did it ever chart? Micky still a damn good voice!
music track reminds me of "Let your love flow"............
Yes 😃💯
Ha, sure does
I hear "Kiss You All Over" by Exile
Sounds exactly like Let Your Love Flow.
Thankyou for sharing,beautiful.
How did I never find this piece of sliced gold. This is cool!
Great! Now I have a crush on his wife!
This video features Trina, his second wife. All three of Micky’s wives looked as though they could have been sisters. He certainly has a type.
First time hearing it. Was a pretty good song for the time.
What a talent this boy had. God bless you Mickey and live to be a 100 years old
Beautiful! Never knew he played harmonica. His voice.......ahhhhhh
He plays harmonica!! Wow!!
Wow this is so cool what a rare treasure!! Thank you so much for posting! :)
Bizarre video, but I gotta love Micky.
Mmmmm.... Micky!!!!
I wonder how this was recorded as a "video" since "video TV" didn't come around until the 80s. I have this 45 record - I love this song!!
There were loads of music videos made in the 70s. In fact, I believe British soap operas (such as Coronation Street) were recorded on video tape rather than film. Obviously professional video tape, not the type that comes in VHS cassettes.
Rod Stewart did videos of Tonight's the Night, Hot Legs, and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy......all pre-MTV.
@@carolleslie517 Yes, though the latter's title began "Da Ya..." not "Do Ya..." Abba, Bob Dylan, Bee Gees, Elton John, Wings, Rick Nelson, Queen and many others did conceptual promo videos long before MTV. So did, er, the Beatles and the Monkees.
I didn't know Micky Dolenz has a single in 1979? I don't remember hearing this back then, he was still a Monkee to me because the TV show was in reruns.
Lol yes still a Monkee to me as well.
Good song, but does anyone else notice it REALLY sounds like "Let Your Love Flow" by The Bellamy Brothers? For the time this should have been a hit. IDK why Mickey didn't achieve solo success I've had the pleasure to see him play several times most recently last week with Mike Nesmith, and he still sounds great. Would be interesting to see him do some solo shows and play some of that stuff; and let his sister Coco sing lead on some tracks, she has a powerful voice, too and has backed him up for years.
Yup. First thing I thought.
first time hearing this great song Mickey !!
Damn, this is GREAT! Never saw this one before. Definitely thanks for posting!
Micky !!! So cool !!!
Micky wrote another song about his (now ex) wife Trina. The song appears on the Monkees album Justus. The song is called: Never Enough
1972Sith That song is about how Trina was NOT going to settle for getting just anything during their loooong and very, very drawn out divorce case. She kept asking for more and more, and more. And, she came away victorious, too.
+1972Sith That song was about Trina as well?
+1972Sith Regional Girl is also about Trina, and what led to their divorce.
+Brooke Katz Yes, "Regional Girl" is about how Trina didn't understand "the business" of entertainment. What is REALLY was about was that Trina Dow wouldn't let Micky cheat with fans.
Leilani Kapoor Are you serious? That's stupid!!
I need to watch this like every other day for medical reasons. Wow. I hope i wake up tomorrow trapped in this video.
Oh man how did I miss this all these years? Very awesome video thanks
I cannot get enough of this song. Love the song. :)
Greatest video ever!
Very reminiscent of the 70's and the love song era. I used to like the Monkees as a kid and partly credit them with my own foray into music. In fact the songs I write are a lot like this - syrupy love songs.
Very Cool! I never saw this before. Thank You!
thanks for sharing this Excellent tune
I never saw this. Thanks for posting this.
This song came out when i was 1 and never knew it until now 36 years later
Floating head at the end is hilarious
OMG, it's like someone made a music video of my brain.
OMG!! Mickey this song is great! You should rerelease this now. You would have a hot with it. I saw you in Knoxville Tennessee with mike on his last tour and you both were awesome. Your voice is one of the greatest. Love you so much.
never knew there was a video, awesome!
THOSE EYES AT 2:08 WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You mean those black eyes the lady had with Mickey in it
Lots of comments about the hollow skull eyes, but what about the bobbing floating head over the lyrics? Woah. People are mentioning this came out as punk was hitting the airwaves. Like the Ramones. Such dichotomy.
Amazing !!!!
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! :)
the song is catchy though....I loved it
I was just a year old when he did this song
In some areas of Nepal, this got more airplay than Nesmith's "Horse Race".
Micky once said an interview I taped only aired in my state that he was half Chickasaw and something else I can't find his exact ethinticity
James Connolly He is also Italian and Irish
@@alexandraristow6070 I believe he once said the Italian part is like border area between Italy and Yugoslavia, northern Italy, and the border probably moved on his ancestors so they had to change their surname. This is his father's heritage. I believe his mother was Irish.
There's a joke Micky tells...someone feel free to write it please. It's gist don't piss him off or get him drunk is the punch line after he says part he is part Indian, Italian. I heard it in Clearwater but the trumpet player was being loud and obnoxious with women at the time that night where I almost retorted Cuddly Toy lyrics to him as a joke over his head.
And you have to love the bouncing Micky head!!!!
However this doesn't quite gel with his statement that he dropped out of music in 1977 and moved to England, and became a Director. It's True that he did do this, however he released a 45 Single almost every year and toured in 1982.
performers like Micky tend to twist the truth to fit their personal agenda.
Great song
Note the similarity to the "Rio" video when he's wearing the shades! Trina was a former Playboy picture page....a knockout!
Wow! Things are looking up. As soon as I saw your comment, the phone rang and I have a third job interview (had my second one today)!!!
Pretty sure the woman in the video is his second wife, Trina Dow.
if only he changed his name to George Michael Dolenz (that was his birthname) that song would've been a hit. . Thankfully, he didn't become like Mike and try to shed the Monkees brand. Micky always knew where the money was.
Is it me or did Micky's teeth look a bit crooked on the left side of his mouth....his upper teeth
Just watched it and yes you are correct about his teeth. The song & video were awful.
His right side of the mouth droops little more than the left, so there is more space on his left side. So it's not his teeth, but the mouth positioning.
Should have been at least a modest top 20 hit.
I would have missed the hollow eyes -- just before that part, I'd scrolled down to see what folks were saying in the comments. Went back to take a look... You're right; it's REALLY creepy.
Gave me a great belly-laugh, though. So it's all good. =-)
She's not his wife anymore. They divorced in the early-mid 90s.
Curious as to if Nes created the video
i think this couldv'e been a cool monkees song
I have the record!
I wonder if Eats is still in business....
Agreed, GimmeKitty
I didn't see the whole thing, just most of it.....it was too scary for me
See what I mean? They're the size of her eye sockets!!!
Sheesh....the video would have been better if they didn't "hollow out" her eyes
he sounds like Steve Forbert here
The video was good, but that part scared me....
Oh God, did you see Trina's eyes at 2:03? That's a bit scary right there....
not a terrible song, how come this didn't do well??
Because it sounds too disco and disco was dead by 1979. By 1979, the music scene was changing and punk and new wave was coming out and no one was interested in hearing any of the Monkees, unless they had really great songs and though this is good, it ain't great,
Oh God, that movie was scary!!! I've only seen some of it though and decided to not watch the rest of it.....
NEVER KNEW THIS GUY WAS SUCH A LOOSE CANNON. HE COULD EASILY BE DANNY HUTTONS BROTHER.
Cringe worthy. And I really like his body of work.
whats wrong with his teeth
I know you did, I was just saying that I didn't like the movie
Oh God. I can see why this wasn't a hit. Cringe-worthy horrific.
the songs ok
the production job is cheap
Yikes! The woman's empty eye sockets are so creepy. Micky's strange right side teeth and then his bouncing head -- was this a Halloween joke?
