I was the audio engineer on this series for about year. It was shown on The Travel Channel and was sponsored by the once mighty airline, TWA. We got to travel to New York, London and other spots to tape the show. We always taped them in luxury hotels. This episode was taped at The St. James Club in Hollywood. I really was thrilled to meet Mickey. I would always mic up the guests myself and always had fun chats with them. I remember that Mickey and I talked about the human race and our role in the survival of the world. I have no idea how we got on that subject but I'll never forget those few minutes we shared on the set. He was one of the coolest guests we ever had!
We have something in common: visiting Bora-Bora and Tahiati (which I obviously have forgotten how to spell, duh)...and having been mistaken (for some reason) as Micky Dolenz. Very weird.
I heard the girls wouldn’t talk to him when he was on circus boy because he smelled like elephant shit. Just joking. I loved Mickey and the Monkeys. Funny show, good music. Mickey had a great voice. He could have made it in a regular 60’s rock group as a lead singer. But they all were talented. Their talents were taken for granted and overlooked because it was a TV show.
