Yes, I'm going to talk mostly about the Go-Gos.... I was, and will always be a true Deadhead from the time I first saw them in 1985, but still had a great appreciation for talent in many genres. Maybe if Jerry Garcia was still alive, they could all play together! Hey, it would be damn interesting and entertaining, at the least. I always supported these strong feminists known as the Go-Gos. Feminism, to me, is when women celebrate their own unique sense of femininity, rather than letting society call the shots and the traditional roles, so bless you, Go-Gos! And btw, feminism, to me, is NOT about disliking or resenting men in the slightest!! Those ladies stayed positive! They represented healthy female empowerment to me.
@KILLING⚡HEROS It's a matter of taste. They're both fetching gals. Actually, they're all quite attractive. But, yes, I prefer Jane. From the moment I saw them on MTV, my attention focused on her. So watchable, so adorable. My taste. And the Go Go's rock!
Ultra bright and rhythmically addictive; Head Over Heels is probably my favorite song by the Go Go's! And would you look at Belinda in this video! She's beaming from head to toe! Like a kid in a candy store, she's so happy and energetic lol! Love her hair, her makeup and wardrobe! Ah! The great ‘80s!
Been running so long I've nearly lost all track of time In every direction I couldn't see the warning signs I must be losin' it Cause my mind plays tricks on me It looked so easy But you know looks sometimes deceive Been running so fast Right from the starting line No more connections I don't need any more advice One hand's just reaching out And one's just hangin' on It seems my weaknesses Just keep going strong [Chorus] Head over heels Where should I go Can't stop myself Outta control Head over heels No time to think Looks like The whole world's out of sync Been running so hard When what I need is to unwind The voice of reason Is one I left so far behind I waited so long So long to play this part And just remembered That I'd forgotten about my heart [Chorus] Songwriters: CHARLOTTE CAFFEY, KATHY VALENTINE
This is one of my wake up song for 5am. I can never hit the snooze button on this tune and for the next 3 minutes, I feel like I am back in the 80s. Until I turned on the bathroom lights and noticed it's been 35 years since my youth has left me behind. Hehe!! Glad this tune will always stay young and never expire.
What a bunch of talented and beautiful ladies. I love that riff near the end where that's back and forth rhythm with the bass player and the drummer. And the keyboard solo. Oh heck, the whole song is great. :)
I'm a heavy metal rocker from the 80s. 1985 was my senior yr .and u know what I really loved them and the bangals. I'm still a rock bass guitar player today at 57 yrs old. When I see 80s bands. Playing today it's still cool I said to my friends. Hay at the beginning of it all we were there. It makes me smile when I see teenager trying to play ower high school music. Chers to the 80s. It was an amazing time to be alive and young 🎉
You're so correct! If you leaf through Jenny Len's book Punk Pioneers you can see Charlotte's hesitant stance in posed photo sessions and early live gigs. Ms. Lens stated as much in her books captoins. 👍
I was in the grocery store today and this came on the store speakers. Well it always catches my attention but I was astounded to see a couple of young teenage boys moving to the music. There is hope! I've loved this song since it first came out when I was 24 and in the US Navy. I still have a crush on Jane!

Kevin Ashwood I loved the Go-Go's in my teen years in the 80's, I really did! LOVED their sound, no question and STILL love it now! Some things you just NEVER outgrow and the Go-Go's are one of them I'm happy to say! :-) Sad to hear Kathy Valentine's no longer with the group anymore because I thought she was an incredible bass player but the group STILL sounds awesome an STILL looks great all these years later! Thanks to the Go-Go's for making my teen years exceptionally enjoyable! :-) 'Beauty and The Beat' was EXCEPTIONAL! :-)
Grew up in the 70s, but videos like this help me appreciate the 80s. What a fun time, with all the great pop music amplified by music videos, which were still new enough to be interesting. Feel the same way about Take On Me and Sussudio.
Lead vocalist Belinda Carlisle, was & Is the Greatest 'Front Woman' in a band, in the History of Ever. She Always Dances, so you Know she really Feels this music😍. She sings these songs from the depths of her soul. She recognizes the band members while she is Performing on stage. All 5 Can actually sing. All 5 have stage Chemistry. All 5 of these women had Grand talent that was way ahead of their time. They are Still talented. Each of them play their instruments with Talent that is Superior to any Male band. It wonderful that they have reunited to play & sing their Beautiful 'Happy Place' music. They Deserve to be IN the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Terry Hall from The Specials did as well. It's why he wrote "Our Lips are Sealed" when he started up Fun Boy Three. Specials broke up when Dammers and he went their separate ways. Jane and Belinda do back vocals on the second album "More Specials"
My roommates and I threw an 80s party in college in 1992, when 80s parties were still a novel idea. I made the mixtapes for the night and I specifically remember lining this one up to be one of the 4-5 "peak" songs of the evening, since it was well-known but sort of forgotten to time (unlike your Princes and Duran Durans of the world), and it gave you an immediate thrill hearing that piano opening. And sure enough, after a few hours of building up (and drinking), this one set off a mini pogoing "moshpit" in the living room. The breakdown at 2:30 where everything cuts out but the bassline and those loud handclaps is just irresistible.
Have to say as a very good bass guitarist, these gals can play. They are from a special time in the rock movement. That bass girl rocks.Wont see it again.

Tyler L That is so true! I graduated high school in 1983 and I’ll be 54 yrs old in 2 months. 80s music friggin rocked!
Me in 86
Yes, I'm going to talk mostly about the Go-Gos....
I saw them in 84 , down in front about 20 feet away , awesome show ,.
It was the best time!
i remember cutting up all my sweatshirts...LOL
Sue TP I cut up quite a few pairs of jeans and pants lol
You did?
Why?
When you just now realize that Belinda Carlisle actually invented 'The Carlton'
Lina Lea
HA HA HA !! 😹
Lol your so right 😂😂😂😂😂
Haha. I think he must've been inspired by her.
very pretyy
EVERYONE danced like that in the 80’s.....depending on the tempo 😀
Omg growing up With the GoGos was the best.!!! Love you Belinda Carlisle
The piano in this song is so good and the instrumental bridge is one of the best ever!
Absolutely 💖
Tracy Banks 😉
Her candy store was loaded with cocaine.
Been running so long
I've nearly lost all track of time
In every direction
I couldn't see the warning signs
I must be losin' it
Cause my mind plays tricks on me
It looked so easy
But you know looks sometimes deceive
Been running so fast
Right from the starting line
No more connections
I don't need any more advice
One hand's just reaching out
And one's just hangin' on
It seems my weaknesses
Just keep going strong
[Chorus]
Head over heels
Where should I go
Can't stop myself
Outta control
Head over heels
No time to think
Looks like
The whole world's out of sync
Been running so hard
When what I need is to unwind
The voice of reason
Is one I left so far behind
I waited so long
So long to play this part
And just remembered
That I'd forgotten about my heart
[Chorus]
Songwriters: CHARLOTTE CAFFEY, KATHY VALENTINE
They wrote their own songs... great lyrics
Wahoo!
It just seemed a lot more fun in the 1980's.
Trust me...it was.
The music was better, that's for damn sure.
What a bunch of talented and beautiful ladies. I love that riff near the end where that's back and forth rhythm with the bass player and the drummer. And the keyboard solo. Oh heck, the whole song is great. :)
The piano solo crushed it.
Kathy Valentine rocked my world on bass! Babe, you drive this tune and we miss you very much.
Best Go Gos video! Love this band.
Gina Schock is smashing the crap out of that kit.
Yes she is, listen to her live, her rimshots on the snare sound like a gunshot
Schocking!
And checking out Jane at 2:16
Still fantastic after all these years. LONG LIVE THE GO-GO'S!!!
Blesings foro
Blesings foro hoy my sister
Young, simple and raw sound. great 80's song!
Jane Wiedlin was the cutest thing ever.
Like, i totally agree dude
For sure ! Her and Susanna Hoffs of the bangles are favorites🤟😎
And Susana Hoff
So true cyp! She is a great musician!!🙌🤟😎
Jane Got Belinda cuz she has a very unique voice. Jane was lucky
The Go-Go's!! ❤❤❤❤💐🕊🌟🎶🎵
Please take me back to the 80's
Saw the Go Go's "Talk Show" tour in '84, INXS opened. Good times!
And this is where THE Carlton Dance originated from.
sarafinacat exactly
I was a groupie living on the tour bus from 84 - 86. Wish I could remember it.
I love Charlotte Caffey's completely awkward look to the camera. Looks like my freshman yearbook photo!
You're so correct! If you leaf through Jenny Len's book Punk Pioneers you can see Charlotte's hesitant stance in posed photo sessions and early live gigs. Ms. Lens stated as much in her books captoins. 👍
My senior year back i high school this song 1984-85
I miss this kind of music. This was great, they were fantastic.
I was in the grocery store today and this came on the store speakers. Well it always catches my attention but I was astounded to see a couple of young teenage boys moving to the music. There is hope! I've loved this song since it first came out when I was 24 and in the US Navy. I still have a crush on Jane!
One of the very best instrumental breaks ever, and try clapping along with it.
They finally made it into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2021! Long time coming but SO well deserved! These ladies inspired me to forge onward with a career in music - thank you💜
Watched the documentary twice on showtime, loved em in 80s and came streaming back!
I always loved this song! I used to play it on the jukebox at the video arcade over and over. Man, those were the days!
Along with Pac Man!
Belinda Carlisle is one of the most beautiful stars out there..by far!!
Beyond "cute" in this video.
These girls are SO cute. Boy, are they great musicians. Luv em!
This is what 25 year old girls used to look like. , the gig is we're a killer band.
Seen 'em live in 1983, everyone of the floor of the coliseum danced the whole show.
80s all day man this was the best time growing up, everything was about GOOD TIMES GOOD PEOPLE GOOD MUSIC 🎵🔊👍😂👌🔥🔥😎
Stylewars70 Hell yeah! I miss the 80's so much
U'r right! But we didn't have anything else! I remember getting 1,000,000 points on the game (Atari) Asteroid!
"Head Over Heels" is my favorite video and song by The Go-Go's. "Vacation" is my second favorite, and I love ALL the songs that The Go-Go's have recorded.. (I've probably heard ALL of them. Keep those songs coming, girls!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YA!!! from Kevin Ashwood, Roanoke, VA
Kevin Ashwood I loved the Go-Go's in my teen years in the 80's, I really did! LOVED their sound, no question and STILL love it now! Some things you just NEVER outgrow and the Go-Go's are one of them I'm happy to say! :-)
Sad to hear Kathy Valentine's no longer with the group anymore because I thought she was an incredible bass player but the group STILL sounds awesome an STILL looks great all these years later! Thanks to the Go-Go's for making my teen years exceptionally enjoyable! :-)
'Beauty and The Beat' was EXCEPTIONAL! :-)
Grew up in the 70s, but videos like this help me appreciate the 80s. What a fun time, with all the great pop music amplified by music videos, which were still new enough to be interesting. Feel the same way about Take On Me and Sussudio.
One of my best New Wave female band group, The Go -Gos.
I could watch the drummer all day long. You can tell She LOVES playing the drums & she's REALLY professional/talented at what she does !!!
Gina had started playing drums at age 10.
Songs enjoy so much 1980s classic hits on radio stations. Love this song.
They had some of the best hooks of the 80s.
1984 absolutely kicked ass! Gorgeous girls, arcades everywhere, best weed and can’t beat all the great diverse music!
Belinda's look and dance pre dates George Michael in his Wham Wake me up before you Go-Go
Saw the Go-Gos in 1982 when they opened for The Police (Ghost in the Machine tour). They were great.
Mulheres talentosíssimas. Oh época boa, que não vivi, mas sinto muita falta. 😔
I wanted to be a Go Go - Girl power before it was a thing.
Love you ladies ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Incredible percussion and keyboard work. I always liked the “detonating piano” sight
gag and thought there might have been one for the drums, too.
My favorite song by the Go Go's
Too fast to dance, though.
We were so blessed to have MTV land on our tv ( via cable) 24/7 the best songs with a video to boot genius! I was so addicted to it I want a new drug lol! we young folks all were older folks as well it was the best thing to happen to tv along with cable such good times wow
STILL crushin' on Jane......2019
Oh yeah... I went to high school '82 to '86. She is always going to be a crush for me, haha!
Terry Hall from The Specials did as well. It's why he wrote "Our Lips are Sealed" when he started up Fun Boy Three.
Specials broke up when Dammers and he went their separate ways. Jane and Belinda do back vocals on the second album "More Specials"
Exactly!
Jane got that betty boop look, she's hot
Jane! Still in love with her since 1981!
Have to say as a very good bass guitarist, these gals can play. They are from a special time in the rock movement. That bass girl rocks.Wont see it again.
Looks and sounds as sweet today as back in the sweet 80's!!!!
