WOW! At 1st I just saw a young man, but after listening to him, and seeing his work with Gold, and carving gemstones, jewelry, etc ... I saw a master, and an artist! His talent is way beyond his years, Bring Nolan back, please. I am now a fan of his work, and want to see more, of his masterpieces. His art is special!

Nolan, you are a gem. From tragedy to healing through the arts… a true and pure example of perseverance for our youth. Thank you for continuing to share your heart through your creations as well as your process so openly. We need more people like you to shake up the industry and keep raising the bar.

What a really great find to spotlight, I think it's really cool to feature craftsmen like this on your channel. If I were super rich I'd commission this guy lol. I love the intricacy and mix of materials of the turquoise necklace, it's like a tiny opulent palace.
I went and checked out his Instagram, he has these faceted pieces where he does tiny carvings on the back, they're like cameos but made of gemstone. I know he probably doesn't have them anymore, but would have been cool to see them in the video.

Not only are his results impressive, but he himself is extremely impressive also. Rising up from the ashes to find a calling, and embracing it. It is what we should all strive for!

Was so cool to meet Nolan in person this year at Tucson Gem Show. Was the nicest guy in person. This interview is a perfect way to show that to the world! He and his crew are changing the world of jewelry in such a huge way a true Polysmith. Can't wait to see more of what comes off the altered rose engine lathe!

Man, I have been purposefully putting this video off because I KNEW once I seen it, that I was going to want something done in this style. And I can't even imagine the cost of this type of art, I just know it is beyond me. 😭 This young man has an amazing talent and it is people like this who need to be more well known and appreciated for their very tedious, amazing art.

As some have already said in different manners, Nolans story is a methapor of his work, many stones as he mentioned can explode under the preassure of working with them and the lapidary methods. Just as he could have cracked under the pressure and mental trauma. He faceted himself as he does with his work and has created an amazing work of himself. It's worthy of praise to achieve such mastery at such a young age. Please do bring him back with more of his work. It is amazing! And so beautifully crafted with such attention to detail! Lovely. Sapphire is one of my favorites because of the deep blue color. A friend of mine recently told me that my aura was a deep blue color and yellow. Interestingly that Pharoah stone was just what i pictured when she said that lol and this video pops up and now i cant walk away without subscribing to the channel haha beautiful work from a strong soul

I actually got into lapidary, gemology and geology also after a near death experience. Although I've made some nice stuff for using absolute basic tools and methods and have found world class specimens, but this guy has a real gift that's incomparable to the talent of most. I love that he to uses older methods and tools to create such beauty. I'll definitely be following his career and achievements.

He speaks absolutely the truth the gem community is unbelievably welcoming. It also is truly meditative, also the majority of lapidariest don't go out starting that way any longer there is generational lapidariest but it is much rarer then the past. I started making jewelry as a hobby then got into cutting gem's because I didn't like paying the markup from rough to cut gems. I enjoyed jewelry making I fell in love with the lapidary arts and making mokume gane, what people don't realize is the standard Lapidary student with three months of training cuts a better standard round brilliant then you find in 95% of jewelry stores, it's simply that mass cutting is less then fifteen minutes from rough to polish while Lapidary students and hobbiest even professional lapidariest put more time and effort into the gems that are being cut. I strongly suggest if you don't know what to do in life find local lapidary or gemology clubs they are extremely welcoming and many clubs have multiple tools available so you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to start also usually have inexpensive rough and many people willing to help you learn. The one thing that the vast majority of lapidariest and gemologist have in common is that they love to get other people into the addiction and I call it that because you do become addicted. I made so many pieces of jewelry and cut gems before I ever sold one that my life partner and sons told me they have more than enough jewelry. I ended up sending a ton of stuff to my gem dealer in Thailand and he sold them at great prices for me and him so now I just send him everything I'm not keeping and don't have to worry about it. Also it truly is you word is everything in this business being honest is what will make the difference in long run. Also he is along with several other lapidariest and individuals designing tools and changing what you are able to create, there is something similar to what he is using and developing that stopped being made in the eighties called a performer you put in the outline disc of what preform you wanted and it would go against your lapidary wheel and preform the rough into that shape also extremely easy to make your own templates something I know several people wish they would bring back.
