Oooh throw back! I LOVE Kristy. Fan since Little Darlings. I ran into her in Sherman Oaks in the early 2000s, when I lived in California. She was sitting outside a restaurant having a bite to eat with a friend. I don't know if anyone else recognized her but a true fan always will. I knew it was her. I'm not a groupie and because she was having a bite to eat, I didn't want to burden her asking for an autograph and/or picture. At the time, cell phones were in their infancy so it would have been just an autograph. I wonder now if she thought maybe that she wasn't important enough for an autograph but... far from the truth. She's an amazing person and actress. I wish we had seen more of her work. Invaluable talent and human being❤ Oh! And she opens this flick with the Disco Hustle!!! Gotta love it!
Holy crap - forget the divine Linda Lavin (can you imagine someone like her becoming a star today? - ugh, we're such an unimaginative herd now) and the fabulous Kristy McNichol (a teen free form gender persona ahead of her time), what we have her is a TV movie - did you get that - a friggin TV movie - that opens with a steadicam shot from a crane and down through the maze of the apartment in a single take. Unbelievable! The steadicam had only made its debut a mere two years before in Hal Ashby's biopic about Woody Guthrie 'Bound for Glory' - and THAT shot is one of the icons of cinema (it's similar in structure: the camera moves from the crane to ground level through a crowd). The steadicam would become legendary not quite two years later during the hedge maze chase in Kubrick's 'The Shining' - so the fact that it's showing up here is really remarkable. Just another reason that the 70s were pretty much the golden age of TV movies, in all their triumph and trash.
Linda was amazing, such a deeply warm and lovable woman. I think you're right they wouldn't give her a leading role nowadays because she's so ordinary in such a beautiful way. They can't do anything right now
The closing scenes when kirsty spoke with her father was so deep How wise she was not swept along with emotional issues She spoke clearly simply and honestly Without being hard or direct She let him know they were OK without him He walked out mother didn't....
The music makes me so tearful as I'm sad at passing time and the youth we used to have. How I wish, I knew what I know now. Love to everyone ♥️❤️🥀

I wish I would have realized being alone wouldn’t have been the worst thing that happened to me.
I like being alone, well, without a man. I have a son and a few cats that I spend my days with and that's good for my life.
Ive been alone and lonely and with some one miserable.......Ill take lonely any day
Me too. I'm a Narc Magnet, so I'm happier being single
When the mom said, "I am not alone....I have me." I immediately thought of the song "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus ... that song fit so well.
People did a lot of touching back in the 70’s 😅 would be taken awful wrongly nowadays. I was born in that time.. I would still touch a shoulder and shake hands. There’s a lot of positivity in this act. It draws people close, soften hearts and make you see a pleasant rainbow in a gray world.
Knew i couldn't miss this one! Also a great walk down memory lane
I love both of these actresses but Kristy is awesome, I watched her in the TV drama ,Family and loved it ,she was my teen idol,I'm in my mid fifties so I grew up watching Alice and Family, Kristy was also good in the movie ,Little Darlings.
I want my youth back 😭😭😭😭🙏
“Well, I do have someone else finally. I have me!” I love that line. Women need to learn from this character.
I like all movies from the 70s and 80s even movies older than them I was born in 1981 and I still appreciate good movies
I never knew these two talented actresses worked together. Love it!
I was born in 1977 but I still love 70's movies & TV shows , I like Linda Lavin & Kristy Mc Nichols they r such wonderful actresses . Also a great movie thank u 2 whoever put this up there .
While I was watching Alice as a kid my father had a huge crush on Linda Lavin.
Both great actresses. This movie reminds me of my childhood.
Another amazing Linda Lavin movie! Thanks for sharing.
I love the old classic tv specials
I was 12 when this movie came out. I'm so glad I grew up during this time.
I literally got teary eyed. I grew up watching you.
A time, without what goes on now.
I miss it.
Youre lucky to miss it i wish i es bornearlier
Warmth and charm and morals and love. What happened!!
Super Great Movie. I Missed This. I Remember Seeing This, Movie. Yeah, And Can You Believe It Is A 1978, In The Late 70's. Always, Loved Linda Lavins Acting. She Belts. She Puts, It Right There. Love Kristy McNichol. 😭 It Makes Me Cry. These Actresses Know, How, Too Play These Family Rolls, Excellent. Love CoCo Co 💜💖💜 Heart.😊
Wow. They don’t make terraced garden apartments in Los Angeles like that anymore.
Wasn’t that nice? When the opening scene started I thought it was a fancy house at first.
@@Tomes23 me too
The phone on the wall in kitchen! Take me back lol 😂 💯❤️
Me too❤❤❤
yes... no cell phone ... you had to find a payphone or go home... I cant imagine what that was like.
@@victoryluck it was nicer than now believe that or not lol simple is good
I was only 5 in 1978, so I don’t remember this movie. It’s a great movie. Love the 70s.
Me too !!! Born in 73
@@Seekyourtruth777 cool :)
This movie reminds me of me and my daughter. Enjoyed it!
Two icons....... Casting perfection. 😍
Im a HUGE fan of both Linda and Kristy! What amazing chemistry they have together. Would love to see Ms Lavin perform on stage, amazing vocals! To this day, I sing the theme song to Alice!
I wasn't alive in 1978, I was born the year after, December 1979, but I can still taste those mashed potatoes in that TV dinner.
@L Cam Yes!
Excellent tv movie Linda lavin and Kristy mcnichol give great performances
The music, the grainy picture. Damn I miss the old days.
Hi, Ms. Lavin! I just want to say thank you for the many hours of happy childhood memories you gave me. Take care. 😊❤
I have been binging on Linda Lavin this week, never knew she was such an A1 Actress! Really enjoying her.
🎉 such a great movie. I grew up 70s and 80s. 😊was a wonderful childhood i had.
I miss those years too ! It was simpler times.
Love the both actor's big time. Always in my heart. Loved linda in Alice she reminds me of my oldest sister.
@ 26:00 I spy Duttons Books store, across the street, Valley Drugs where Jan bought lemons for her freckles, and Luckys Market. Man do I miss that laid back LA from my youth.
Have you ever noticed there's always seems to be celery sticking out in the bags? I've seen it in many a grocery unbagging in TV and movies. Lol.
Lol! I love this comment! When I was a kid I would play house with my brothers and I'd be the stressed housewife who would come home with a brown paper bag and something sticking out of it like a baguette. But, yea, it's always a piece of celery.
@@forgottenpalace4472 ,The baguette! Yes, lol!
You're comment made me laugh. And in movies when someone is fired. There is always a plant in their box of stuff.
@@cynthiabustamante2884 Lol🔥
@@cynthiabustamante2884 Lol. Yes, always a plant.
Thank you for posting this what a wonderful wonderful film!
It’s hard to believe this was a made for TV movie given the quality of the script and acting. I miss stories like these that were just about people. There was heart and soul and so much creative energy back then.
Oh, yes. The TV dinners in the foil tray. They took forever to heat in the oven. How I would love to have one today!
I love them .... they go in the microwave ... it isn't worth the time to cook from scratch when the frozen dinners are ready quickly and taste just as good and are calorie controlled with no left overs.
They tasted so much better in the 70s and 80s
@@Denise_Suzannethey were great, the brownie desert or apples were baked fresh in the oven for like 45 minutes, and the frozen veggies with butter were as good as could be. Definitely better than today’s, when microwaved for 6 minutes.
@victoryluck they were better back then . In the foil in the oven before microwaves were popular. They have changed the taste now.
@@new2000caryeah Swanson turkey with those wonderful green peas!
They are super convincing as mother and daughter
They did an episode of "Family"together.
My Mom and I lived days like these. Only now, at the same age she was do I know how scary it was for her and what a BRAT I was. I just didn't know, now I do, and posthumously, I am comforted by the fact that she's laughing her ass off at me - touche, Mommy...
I love. Movies that touch my heart. Thank. You for having shared these great movies
This was so nice to watch. Thank you for sharing.
OMG that part where she's talking about the starched shirt and tobacco smell, I got all choked up. Didn't expect that
I saw this when it first came out. I love everyone in this movie.
My Mom passed away f/ Canver! i miss & love my MOM!
i mean cancer hmm ugh!!
I have pancreatic cancer and 2 daughters and my son . Hes only 14. My girls are grown and I have a grandson as well. Know that leaving you was the hardest thing your mom would do. Cancer is a beast. Celebrate your moms life don't mourn her anymore her pain. Is over finally and she is young beautiful and strong again in paradise.
I just lost my mom three months ago. I miss her so much!

Bless you.
Linda Lavin on Barney Miller was so memorable. What a beautiful Lady.
Sweet and wholesome movie 🍿
Sweet and innocent? Linda lavin's character is basically sleeping around.it does not look that way because the mother and daughter are close
@@diankreczmer6595 She only slept with "2" men in the 80s DAYTIME SOAP OPERA'S Female's jumped from one guy's bed into another..I stopped watching them because of it. On Bold and the Beautiful 1 Female married her former Father in Law and had Children with him too.. Now we might as well not have an FCC they let them say whatever the foulest language innuendo of the 70s & early 80 is gone now they just blurt it out.. I used to watch TV with my parents my kids couldn't do that unfortunately..
Good movie
I like these kind of movies.
They can't do anything right now
Miss these days
Can I go back.... I hate this woke world.
Woke world.. nobody knows what your talking about .
@@alfx5432I do, and I agree. This era stinks. Don't be so rude, BTW.
Linda is an amazing actor. Everything I’ve seen her in she is completely believable. Any role.
I miss movies like this
The closing scenes when kirsty spoke with her father was so deep
How wise she was not swept along with emotional issues
She spoke clearly simply and honestly
Without being hard or direct She let him know they were OK without him
He walked out mother didn't....
Television used to be amazing.
Well not amazing but much better than the current mindless america
