I am nearly 65. I remember watching this movie when I was still living at home with my parents. I could not remember any details, only that Marie Osmond was a main character. I am so thankful to have finally found the movie and was able to relive the memories from watching it as a young girl. Such a beautiful story, blessed are those that experienced such love. Saving this to watch again each Christmas! Boo to Hallmark movies, they are so predictable. THIS was perfect!!
An old and a great story which I first read in grade 8 in my reader at school. I’m 70 now and glad to be reminded what true love means to everyone! God bless you all in 2022!
Same age ... 69 but looked at June Lockhart and remembered my very favorite TV show, Lassie... we too had a collie dog... happy memories and Merry Christmas!
I am 70 years young and O’Henry stories have always enchanted me . I watched many of these when I was a very young girl along with my late mother, and we were so in awe of the written story line. I ended up working for the Vanderbilt! The cast is brilliant.
YES !! That could even be the solution to the awful problems of ( especially boys ) who don't have a Godly Dad to teach them how to become God fearing and supportive Dad's, too !! A vicious cycle that is Plaguing American families !! 👪
I seen this at our last day at Primary school as a treat, before heading up to high school! I have always remembered this movie! Im in my 50s now and its took that long to see this again! Even better 2nd time, as i recognise the actors and actresses! Thank you!❤

@@dianaalban6208 really ? this is wonderful. And June still alive that is even more wonderful so I can include her in my prayers. How old is she? I only knew her from Lassie. That about Marie Osmond I didnt understand. What is WLA please? How many TV movies do we see that we remember 40+ years later? This is one of those few for me. I was living on my own away from my family for the first time and this movie really connected with me. That it featured Marie Osmond did not hurt. Her warmth comes through. I am glad I can find it here on UA-cam at this time of year.
In tears. The Osmond brothers and Marie nailed it with this sweet, moving story. So we'll produced. Marie is a very good actress. Thanks for uploading this for us. ❤️
I watched this when I was 14 y/o. I've enjoyed it then and still enjoy it now. I've memorized the song. Marie Osmond is so sweet. Thanks for uploading!
This movie is very well made and such beautiful costumes! Please read the original story The Gift of the Magi. That one is a little more bittersweet. Also, there is a 1952 movie titled O Henry's Full House with 5 short stories including The Gift of the Magi with Jean Crain and Farley Granger as the lovelorn couple. The other stories include Marilyn Monroe, Charles Laughton, Anne Baxter and Dale Robertson. Funny and touching film.
This is one of the most memerial and beautiful Marie Osmond movie I have ever had the pleasure to see and share with my children and my grand children.
Marie Osmond was BEAUTIFUL in this movie. Watch it you will NOT be disappointed that you did. Great movie that your whole family can watch together!! "Awesome" moral of the story on "Love."
I remember this story from early childhood the unselfishness of the gift of real love is so profound. This particular retelling of such a classic Christmas 🎄 story with such a wonderful cast made it extra special to revisit in adulthood. Thank you for sharing such an innocent wholesome true family friendly ageless classic gemstone of a film.💕
I love these stories. I’ ve seen the many times and they never grow old. Oh, this is a remake, well I’ll see if it measures up to the original. After watching, it is a sweet movie, with a warm ending. I still prefer the old black and white version, but this is a delightful, easy to watch movie.
I was 20...time sure flies. There was still some innocence left in those days albeit fleeting. There were a lot of films based upon books with morality, romance, etc. I feel sad for the young people these days...what is to become of this world?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS MOVIE,BELIVE ME, IVE BEEN WAITEING, FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME,ONE OF MY FAVERIT CHRISTMAS MOVIE,GOD BLESS, LOVE MICHAEL B.
When the boy praises the girl's hair, and the girl shows interest in the boy's watch, I know it has to be that old, familiar O. Henry's story of Christmas. I didn't know the *whole* story, though. (Perhaps, did I only read an excerpt sixty years ago?) A beautiful heart-warming story. Okay, now I know the whole story as well as its title. Never too late to know.
“The Gift 💝 Of The Magi” Is the name of the story. The husband bought her a beautiful hair comb for her lovely long hair. He exchanged his pocket watch to purchase the beautiful hair comb. In turn his wife cut off her long, beautiful hair so she could buy the pocket watch chain for his pocket watch. I remember watching this story when I was a little girl, and I was so enchanted and in love with the story .
Oh, what a lovely movie! I appreciate it more than in 1978. Marie Osmond is a doll,a beautiful Christmas doll, and June Lockhart was great! I loved that purple dress Marie wore in one scene. A truly wonderful Christmas movie.
The real gift of love is God sending his son Jesus Christ, to the world to die for all man. Jhon 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The seeds of rebellion from another time, charmingly pleasantly presented indeed. These kinds of situations have always existed yet do the rebels truly follow through in the majority from another time in deed not. And yet if you want to read about a daughter who follow through on her father‘s altered purpose towards her read a book called Jeffers daughter it’s shocking, how her daughter followed through and not because itNot because of the injury to her but to her child fight for freedom it is riveting
